Kowloon Market has a great and affordable selection of Asian groceries. I love it for that, and if it was closer to me, I would have come here earlier. However, it's not the biggest store, which leads to it being cramped. It's a bit nerve-wracking to navigate the narrow aisles, especially with a cart. I wouldn't come here if my anxiety was already doing badly. You'll likely touch shoulders with someone a couple times. That being said, this wasn't the part that made me the most uncomfortable. For me, what made me unnerved was the live seafood selection. To start with, I am not vegetarian or vegan - in case people will disregard what I'm about to say next. I adore seafood. However, there was a bin of "live crabs" which made me uncomfortable, to say the least. First, the crabs didn't look very alive. They barely moved. Second, the three crabs in the bin were missing many limbs. Lastly, the bin was totally uncovered. It was just a plastic, open bin, with no water inside. Just a dry bin. Within were only three crabs, which seemed to be in poor condition. I understand these crabs are for consumption, but seeing them near death and out in the open strikes me as a bit unsafe to eat. That was my main concern. Otherwise, it's an Asian supermarket with a good selection of foods and fresh produce. I'm unsure if I'll go again, though.

Lovely place with great prices. Finding food that I can eat as an African can sometimes be hard but at Kowloon I get so much of what I need at the same place. The bakery is also awesome and I recommend for everyone who likes bread

Colin Snelson

Very great selection of products. Can't believe I've never been here before. Lots of good produce + meat and fish. Will definitely be coming back here.

Social distancing isn't really enforced, nor do customers seem to care. Was really hoping there's be employees at least wiping down baskets Also they were out of stock of some items I wanted :( Over great spot, you kind of have to know what you want for the most part but employees will sometimes be friendly and helpful 3 checkout lanes where 1 is cash only so lines can be slow

Connor Fullerton

Good little grocery store with great variety (there is a LOT).

A small grocery store but has a great variety of food if you're into Asian cuisine. Of all the Asian grocery stores.. And there aren't too many in Ottawa I have to say that Kowloon market has the best bbq duck you can find. You'll have to go in early for it sometimes because it can become sold out. It's the best tasting and the more fresh one you can buy. That's pretty much why I come here. It's well worth trying out if you haven't done so already!

Wow. It was my first time here and I was totally amazed at the amount of stuff that you can get here. Even fish, not frozen but on ice and some live seafood. There's even all parts of meat for your delight .. fresh bakery items are individually wrapped for your convenience and health.. I highly recommend you go here

Very friendly place! I always have good experience

I must have gone too close to closing time. It was hard to get the meat and seafood.

Annie Landry

The place is clean, the fresh produce is generally good quality, prices are lower than the big grocery store down the street and the location for me is very convenient (if you walk). I removed a star because I find the staff very cold and disengaged, I don't think any cashier had ever looked me in the face while I'm being served.

Decent grocery store overall. Excellent selection of pastes and sauces. So many great options to explore a bit of Chinese cooking! Lots of good Chinese produce too. Prices are reasonable. The butcher is an issue though. I have been shopping there for two years and when buying pork chops, would always get a small number (3 to 4) at a time. It looks like recently they suddenly changed their policy (?). A few weeks ago, I asked for a small number of pork chops and the butcher came back with a huge number. They claimed that is the only way they provide them. He became quite irate when I pointed out it wasn't what I wanted. He had a very unprofessional and frankly rude manner. Make two attempts to reach the manager on the phone about the matter without success. I'll keep shopping at Kowloon but will not use the butcher again.

Love the variety of things you can get here as a smaller version of T&T. Price is good and ambient is somewhat okay; but it’s definitely a good place downtown to get some Asian goods.

Vanessa Liew

Can find most of your asian grocery needs here. Not as much things for south East Asian food if you’re looking, you’d have more luck at T&T. But place is tidy and the bakery at the side is nice. Picked up some almond cookies and the fried pastry balls. Will come agains

Kowloon, has bees my go to store for fresh fish & greens. Great group of people working here, I love their buns ???????? Would recommend this place to any immigrants or anybody that’s into imported food goods. It’s actually a Chinese stores hahah but you know they got it all! ????????

Nickie Duong

The largest selection of Asian grocery in Chinatown with great prices and so many sales!

Isabel Lacombe

Asian store with lots of goodies they have roasted duck, fresh seafood, bakery, fresh vegetables, fruits and lots. I got these from their store I missed Asian food price are not bad.

Remi Gagnon

They leave stuff on shelves that is past due and even rotten so look carefully before it goes in your basket

Ariel Sandberg-Maitland

Lot's of interesting things. Love the pastry section. It is an experience and one should try and go at least once and explore.

Re Nao (bustling} on Sundays. Very southern Chinese style, plenty of non mandarin dialect. Much more interesting than TnT. Great selection. Fun vibe. Be careful with things way past sell by date though, they just leave it on the shelf (I had to discard kimchee!).

Michelle Reynolds

Very crowded and not tidy, however an ideal place to find authentic Asian ingredients and cuisines. Not excellent parking options available, and on a busy Saturday only to cashiers. Floors can get quite slippery especially in the sea food area,, however they do have live seafood and it looks scrumptious. Little bit nervous about the cleanliness. It's been in business for many years prices are good especially for a high-profile area. #localguide

Ryan Lim

Great asian grocer, found many of the condiments we need to cook food.

Hélène Desaulniers

Cashiers were very helpful. =) Also the stuff is fresh! Though I wish there was a bigger moshi selection.

Lisa Tran

Great location for those living in Centretown. Sometimes you can find a good deal, wide selection of Asian goods and a small bakery section if you're interested in buns. They also have a meat section for BBQ pork and duck!

maria mercado

A lot of variety of asian products and foods. I would have liked to buy a smaller piece of manteu but the ones that were there were very large, I was left with the whim. Friendly service.

Tomohisa Yokoyama

BBQ duck is 27$ plus tax uncut comparable price, taste quality than the duck at Wing Tai on Ogolvie road.

5 years ago I bought in this store belly pork, and when I open the bag at home the belly was rotten it had bad smell, I threw it in the garbage. Today July 22, 2021, at noon I bought in Kowloon Market a whole King fish, it cost around 53 dollars. The same story I was confident that it won't happen again, Unfortunately for my Tthe fish was rotten. I just have learned that lesson.. I won't buy again in this store!

arjay Nolasco

they carry majority of asian food supply that i need.. they also sell awesome roasted pork and sweet n sour pork..

Nicole M

Bought same sesame snacks. No expiry date. They were probably made last year. They oil was very old. I threw them in the garbage. The was another customer in front of me at the pastry, the cash lady was very rude to her ????, yet she was buying a cake for her daughter and only requested her to add HBD on the cake. Like really!!!! So rude with expired snacks????never again.

Jimmy K

I was going there every week since Covid started to support them. I was mostly buying their baked chinese buns. Most were $2 each, slightly more expensive than T&T but I was okay with it. As of last week, the price went up by 29 cents. I understand it's a difficult time to run a business but that's more than 10% increase. I usually get 6 buns, so that would be an extra $1.74 for me. I have now stopped going there and started going to T&T. Their buns is still $1.69 each over there. Good luck Kowloon but I cannot afford to support you anymore

bob cat

awesome place to shop. Decent prices. huge selection. I used to have more pictures but I don't know what happened to them but this should do this is some of the Yummy's????????????--- Tear of joy.----->????

Nicolas Audet

A bit messy (or maybe it's just a bit "compact") but there are very interesting findings to be made there. Check out the fish and the meat sections. The quality is in general very good, much better than my local Metro or Loblaw.

Cherry Sin

Lot of variety of grocery and fresh produce. I am always contented with their roasted pork, roasted duck and barbeque pork. Love the variety of seasonal Asian vegetables.

Anna Belanger

Great selection! I always think I am going to go pick up one thing and leave with my bag overflowing!

Tim Lappan

My experience here was pretty good as I enjoy the bakery and I can actually find my type of tea here yet the deli was nothing to talk about as for the food that I purchased had no taste whatsoever, even my wife has an asian back ground and knows what the food should taste like and says it was discusting. I will never buy it here again.

Angelina Ropstvo

Amazing fresh seafood selection, grocery area is tidy, well light and easy to navigate. Check out is easy to find. I had a good visit!

Debra Curnock

The bakery is filled with delicious tasting buns and donuts 24.00 later lol

William Fassett

I totally screwed up Christmas Day dinner and was at my wits end. Was driving around Ottawa trying to find a fix. Kowloon Market was open and the staff at the seafood counter were very nice and I saved Christmas Dinner with 2 Dungeness Crab! Thanks

Marc Brien

Not a happy experience; I arrived eight minutes before closing. A guy yelled at me that they were closing in five minutes and promptly turned off most of the lights for me and the other customers. It was too dark to read the labels on the …

Michael Robinson

The place needs a reboot. It's quite cramped and dirty. Yoghurt is not available. It's not well-organized. If seems a bit dirty. It's much inferior to its main competitor, the t&t. There's not enough parking. I wish them well, though. I've been coming for years.
