It is a great store, for fresh organic produce, but they are not all organic. I like to look for bargains there, and they always have some. A lot of great choice in bulk products (nuts, flours, nutritional yeast, chocolate, treats, nut butters, etc.) Great teas, great spices, great prepared food, great options for vegans, vegertarians, people who eat organic meat. A great selection of breads. Also some frozen products and all dairy, non dairy, subtitutes, etc. Fantastic staff and very helpful too. You can "order" some products, if you wish, and they will give you a personalized treatment, calling you to tell you when they get it, etc. I go whenever I need things that are very difficult to find elsewhere (chickpea flour, brazil nuts, miso paste, all sorts of exotic things you miss elswhere)

We are regulars and have been for years, but I hate to see the aisles starting to fill with clam shell packaging. I refuse to buy lettuce in over packaged plastic, so I need to go to a different store to avoid it. I wanted to leave a suggestion on the H & S website, but there is no area for comments. Hopefully this will change and I can go back to buying all my vegetables here.

If you're really about shopping fresh and local, this is the place for you. But let's be honest, If you care about those things alot, you probably also drive a Subaru and live in a $700k home... Because that is basically this store's core demographic. $7 lettuce doesn't taste any better than $3 lettuce, so you're paying a premium for your ideals here. But good selection and nice staff.

If you like your food fair trade, organic and expensive, this is your place. Seems to be run in a co-op style, and lots of regulars that are into the scene are always around. As a lay-person, I visit occasionally and realize quickly I'm again out of my element, grab my dairy-free ice cream and sulk out, I'll likely never be a part of this community of hipsters and hippies, but I respect their commitment.

I used to come here for some niche products. Even though the prices were unjustified, it was local and staff were nice. In the past few months i noticed a big change. Half of the produce is rotten /expired. Cashiers are kids who don't even bother to look at you, let alone say "Hi", and keep talking to each other while they do a check-out. A lot of US-sourced products, which I can get at a supermarket for a better price with better quality control. Won't be back here.

Love the selection of local Ontario/Quebec produce and products. Awesome selections of vegan cheeses, bulk spices, and pastas. The store is small, however, and it gets a little awkward moving around the employees while they are stocking shelves. Prices are medium to high range, although quality is awesome. Would like to see a larger selection of fresh baked breads, and the atmosphere/employees lack friendliness in my experiences.

Nice selection of produce and organic goods, and although I would've liked to have shopped here more often, knowing what I'd be in for with the uncomfortable - and sometimes downright shocking - customer service was usually more of a deterrent than anything, and I wound up going somewhere else. Decided to just end it last month and stop giving these people my money; not worth the stress, or feeling as crappy and as I did when I left the store. What exactly is up with the snotty attitudes of the staff in this place? Did I missing something? Did I fail to notice the tiaras on their heads, and realize that they are, in fact, royalty and too good to be serving the dregs of society such as myself? Seriously kids, you should get it together.

I support local and quite often go to the many shops along Wellington to purchase my groceries. I have nothing negative to say about Herb and Spice's actual products, but their customer service skills could use a complete overhaul! On two separate occasions, I've been treated poorly by two different senior staff (the younger ones are upbeat and bubbly). Both times were unwarranted and from now on I'll take my business elsewhere!

If you can't find something at a grocery chain, you'll find it here. A great selection of fruits and veggies, many local to the Ottawa area. My only complaint is that it's pricey - but you get what you pay for. I'd rather support the local farmers and local shop, than pay less and have my produce shipped from who-knows-where.

Great neighborhood freshmarket. It has been there for a long time and the owner is obviously very dedicated to running a clean shop bursting with high quality produce. The staff are always pleasant, and remember who the regulars are which keeps people coming back. The hours of this business are worth a mention - open when many other businesses are not. This place has saved my butt a few times when running out of things during the holidays.

All their produce is very fresh and they have a large variety. I like the convenience of shopping at a smaller grocery store rather than a big chain. It's typically never too crowded, always stocked and faster to show at than say a Metro or Loblaws although a bit more expensive.
