I use the Post Office here regularly for a variety of reasons and I am always happy with the service and friendliness of the staff
I’ve been going to this location for several years - the aisles are usually stocked and clean. The customer service here has never been the best, I’ll be honest. I’ve started coming in on Sunday mornings, and there’s a new girl named Karry who livened up the place - in my opinion. She was very professional but personable and helped me to the T. She deserves some praise!
Won't be going to this grocery store. Immature teens think they are smarter than adults and the supervisors are the rudest I've seen in my life. I was told that I could get banned for picking up my parents medications because I didn't take a shopping cart. I would like to hear what the owners does about this when he reads this on Monday morning at 8:00 am. Won't be going to this gtocery store anymore.
Love this local store.
I used to love coming to the store back when it was run by Dave Massine. But I moved away from Orleans. 5 years later I am back and I find the store has really gone downhill. The produce section looks tired and not very well maintained. It just seems tired and old compared to what it used to be. The staff aren't very friendly.
Terrible experience this evening being told we could not shop unless we took a cart. Why do I have to touch a cart that, when asked if it was sanitized, were told "take the cart to go in". Told "it helps us count customers". ???? ok but you have a clipboard and paper in front of you and 60% of your cart inventory is out of your sight in the cart corral. We called later to inquire about this "mandatory" policy, only to be told: if you don't like it, don't come back. Ok no problem, there are plenty of other stores without silly policies.
The store is usually my favourite because it is clean and well stocked with friendly staff. However recently the fruit has been a bit lacking in price vs quality.
Good local grocery store. Not huge but have most everything you would want or need. Decent produce. Great staff.
Very happy with this store. The choice may not be as great as a Superstore but the feeling of a small market store is there. The staff is very helpful and choice is good. It is kept clean and the wine shop inside has been a nice convenience.
This store constantly hides it's sales items! If you don't actively seek them out and ask the sales persons, especially where the seafood is concerned then you won't get the items on special. My mother refuses to go there any more. …
It doesnt give me butterflies I stopped here to pick up two things and there was a mix up at the cash when the computer didn't register a sale item. It's a grab and go place not meant to excite the senses.
Good sanitization practices and courteous young staff. The international aisle is good to shop in and had selections from Asia-based countries.
Been shopping at this store for years. By far one of the best, your dependence I have ever shopped at. Most of there protein is always on sale and great quality. The staff is amazing and will go out of their way to help anytime they are asked. There are flyers are easy to follow online and always on time. Definitely worth the drive if you live far away.
I'd give 0 stars if I could Went to shop there and I had a couple reusable bags with stuff I purchased elsewhere and was told to leave them outside in a green basket. Are you serious? I understand you don't want people using their own bags but I'm sure the hell not leaving my purchases from elsewhere outside.
Im seeing many ignorant reviews and it disappoints me. I have had nothing but an excellent experience at this store. The staff are always socializing with customers and each other, which gives off a great ambiance. A lot of folks don’t seem to like the COVID rules here, however they make me feel a little safer.
Great prices! Meat there is really cheap and its good quality! They have a wine rack and post office which is really convenient! They also have an atm! They sell cigarettes as well. Overall great place to shop
My daughter and I were at the Garden Centre on Victoria Day and had the best service. The manager and team were helpful and friendly from the line up to get in to helping us load the soil. It was very comfortable selecting plants and easy to social distance. My plants look great and will be back for more!
I've been shopping at this place for 15 years. It was always pricey but we take the hit in the interest of convenience. Lately I've been doing curb side pick-up. It went well a couple times in August but since then I am missing entire bags of groceries once I get home. Also, when they call me for the products that were not available the person on the phone always goes back to check again and weirdly enough they find exactly what was on the original order. I'm not sure who's picking out the items but they clearly don't care. Also, maybe it's fun for them but the substitutions they do make are the most expensive possible item so I often just go without that product and ask them to remove it, regardless of whatever instructions I put in the order with the item that are not followed. At this point rather than driving back to the store when they forgot a couple bags of my groceries I asked if I could get reimbursed. I was informed that they can't do that even though I'd paid for the items. So in my next order I have to put it under "instructions" that they owe me the products and I can't imagine that this is going to go well. I did ask if the Manager would do anything and nothing happened. I do understand that we are incredibly lucky to live in Canada and food can be put right into my trunk, it's actually amazing. But this business of having to drive back to the store and consistently having to ask twice that they find a product that is already on the shelf, and the expensive substitutions, it's getting old. After my next shop (where they give me what I didn't get this week apparently) I just won't head back. Happy shopping and good luck! Hope you have a better experience.
Nice and clean. Well lit. Plenty of shopping carts. Decent prices. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good place to shop for groceries
2 cartons of almond milk for 7.50$ they charge me 10$ look at receipt before leaving these people are scamming their customers
If you want to buy spinach, naan bread and various other items for 2.2 times the price, but the same quality, go here! Very overpriced in most things. Other than that its very clean place not very busy when I went.
Adorable grocery with lots of products. There is a wonderful ready to eat section when you are in a rush. Lots of selection for a smaller store. He produce is always attractive and you can find fresh bread. The meat department was a good selection but it is not first place to go for steak or fish. They have nice bouquets of flowers at an affordable price. You can buy wine in store. It's accessible to mobility impaired persons with parking, ramps, automated doors, and an electronic cart. You can also ask for assistance at the first cash.
Very reliable store with competitive prices. However, the chicken at the Ready to eat meals section are often a bit undercooked. Other than that, the staff is nice and the store is relatively easy to navigate
Really nice organized location. Very covid conscious and I feel safe during my shopping experience. Prices are steeper than other grocery places in Orleans so I only come when in a pinch, but Im generally satisfied after each visit.
A good local local grocery store that has been serving the neighbourhood for years. In fact, many of the products are in the same place they have always been for all that time, so usually you can find things easily. If not, a lot of the staff has been there for a long time and they can help you. There is even a post office inside that is also very handy. On the downside, the prices are little high and checkout is veeery slow.
Great store with helpful and courteous staff
I used to love this store however the quality has really gone down. Produce is better at food basics now and prices are really ridiculous.. you know it's over priced when you spend less at Farmboy for better quality. Disappointed that they havent maintained higher standards I will no longer be shopping there after my Saturday experience with bare shelves sad looking produce and a ridiculously large bill. Used the last of my points.
Always fresh fruit. Never seem to be out of what I want so I don't waste my time. I'd love to know who would pay for this... I'll wait for 50% or 75% discount.
It is a mini superstore with same products but very overpriced. They don't price match and the cashier informed me that fact in a very snobbish and rude way this morning. I told her "Have a nice day", she didn't even bother to reply. So yeah, If you have extra money to waste or you like to be ripped off, then by all means, please go ahead and use this store.
WOW Ray, the manager of the meat department is the rudest ignorant person I have ever encountered. Ray, cheer up or get another job!
Not the biggest fan, and I’m certain they do not price match, and I find their location has over priced.... everything... ish.. my sons lactose milk is 5.29 at walmart(they match pricing) and here, it’s 7.99... 12 pack Pepsi or what not, 6.49, brick of cheese is 6.99.. I like they have a mail office there as well. Mobile cleaners on site ( older refurbished ones. They work. But there are others out there better worth your money if you need a large area cleaned. Smaller ones these will do just fine.
I've been shopping here for nearly three years, and I'm shocked by some of the bad reviews. Never once have I had a problem with spoiled food, product availability, or staff. Is pricing sometimes higher than other places? Sure, if you want to compare them to Costco or Walmart during a sale. They have plenty of great deals, especially on steaks in the summer months.
Nice local grocery store. Has all the basics.
Not my favourite grocery store, seems a little run down.
Really great local grocery store with a wide enough selection to offer plenty of food options, but not overwhelming and confusing. All the produce looks fresh, and they always seem to have the best deals on produce and meat. Certainly better than discount grocers.
Excellent service. The staff is very polite. Excellent young man, manager named Liam, helped me out! 10/10 would recommend.
I hate going to this store because of the cashiers, they are miserable especially the staff that have been there years. Would it kill them to smile and be pleasant? I spoke to the manager about this and no wonder the staff have a bad …
We go to Independent for grocery pickup and I just want to say that pretty much all people we interacted with through pick-up were very friendly and dedicated. I don't know if they're lucky with the people they hire or if they're very picky of who they hire, but good job! I also appreciate that I am able to be served in French. Products are well picked and I always get calls when there are substitutions or if they're out of something I ordered. Little story time: One time there was a mix up with our order because me and another woman had the same first name, same first letter of last name and we were both picking up our order at the same time (what are the odds, thinking back I should've bought a lottery ticket that day lol). Once the car was loaded, we started driving away and one employee ran after the car for a good while until we noticed him (poor guy) to let us know that they loaded the wrong order in our car. We had to park again so they could switch the order and when done they came to the car window to tell us sorry about the mix up and told us to make sure everything was OK when we get home and if there was any problem with our order, to give them a call.????
Very clean and accessible. Meats are always fresh and you can find some pretty good deals. Doesn't disappoint.
Independant is doing an excellent job at keeping customers safe during this pandemic. They clean every cart and have implemented lots of social distancing rules. Great to see businesses doing their part.
Absurd policy to make people take a cart, im told this is how they keep track of the number of customers inside. Strange how every other store is able to do this without forcing you to take a cart that has supposedly been sanitized. I see how they sanitize, a quick spray, a quick wipe and hand off to the customer. Im no expert, but this is not doing anything to actually sanitize. Im told also the carts are wiped down before as well, but if its as thorough as the sanitization they do in front of me, im not conivinced. The lady who walked in ahead of me was also forced to take a cart and you can see how visibly annoyed she was. When i tried to talk about it with the manager she told me it comes from the owner, that everyone is doing it, then walked away from me. If the owner is actually reading this, be aware, your staff can handle the store count without shopping carts (like every other grocery store out there), your customers dont like the policy and in the end you ARE losing customers as a result.
A well-organized grocery store! I only shop here from time to time, mostly for PC products, so I don't know the layout. And yet I waste very little time trying to find things. Goods are well-stocked, and located where I expect them. The staff are competent, friendly and make the experience as pleasant as can be expected under covid.
Line up around the corner and 3 cashiers!!!
We really like this store. It's our main grocery store. I must admit though... I am disappointed that there is no maternity parking. I'm not sure if it's the store or the property company but there should be some spaces. I am sure the majority of the clientele are women/ parents with children.
Great selection at the store. Love shopping here.
Clean, bright, fresh produce and shelf products kept full and neat. Still can't understand how the Independent stores stay in business as their prices that are on sale are still more than many other stores at regular price in some instances, and they promise that they offer the lowest prices but refuse to price match, as the managers of a couple of locations have personally informed me.
The employee who is explaining the social distancing measures was very rude and clearly does not like her job. Very poor first impression as the first point of customer contact. I couldn't wait to leave.
As one of the president choice supermarket, this place that has a private owner, is run with the neighborhood in mind. It has everything you need, in addition to one of the BEST Butcher shops and meat selections, including Halal chicken and sandwich meats. The specials are great, and the price are reasonable. It also has a postal outlet within the store. There is a deli counter, bakery and a ready foods counter, and a wine store. The owner has put a lot of efforts to make this place really stand out. It is worth checking when you get your weekly flyers, better yet stop in and take a look for yourself.
I love this place, yes it's a tiny bit more expensive but you have fresh produce and meat cut on the premises. And yes they have staff to assist working the aisles which is great. The best thing for them is that they are keeping away from those auto check out machines. I love a nice hello and interaction at the cash, the Canada Post counter or often from the owner who is often on the floor and is the first one to help you. This owner is a great leader since I saw first hand the quality of the coaching provided to employees by all his management team. Let's say that he is leading by example. Félicitations
During the pandemic, Why are they putting almost invisible grey arrows on the floor to direct traffic one way down the isles?! No one can see them clearly. We know that, because we see people all the time …
Stay away. This place is not covid compliant at ALL. Went to pay for my grocery's. The cashier was not wearing a mask. There is a barrier that is up, however it is not even close to the 6" required by law. I called the store and spoke to a "manager". He responded that she has a medical reason for not wearing a mask. I am ok with that. We should best our to accommodate employees, but not put the public and other employees at risk. There must be a barrier. It can be distance, even a faceshield would help. Lets stop COVID
Great pharmacy staff & service!
I just read about a man who was shoved around by employees for not wanting a cart because he was just picking up 2 items.....seems like management also handled it poorly! What is going on? We have a business and would never think of manhandling a customer unless they were violent and then security would be called! This is very poor behavior!
I love this place for Grocery shopping but, very poor way of dealing with new employees.. when you say you will "text" the person to tell them what time to come in but don't and the person keeps texting asking what's going on?? and still no reply whatsoever, not even a phone call... not very professional on your part Mr Carl Dessureault!!!! Your loss!!!!
We always did our grocery at this place since we moved in Orleans 3 years ago. Few weeks ago we bought a chicken and it’s was bad... we brought it back and they reimburse us. The same situation happened today, the meat manager didn’t want to reimburse us, because we didn’t have our receipt, even with the store sticker best before tomorrow, and the original packaging with a small hole in the corner (believe me you don’t need to open it to know it’s bad, just the smell!) We will never go back there again. So you lost a loyal customer who spend approximately $1000 every months in your store for a $12 chicken.
Fantastic grocery store for all food items. Competitive pricing on popular name brands and President's Choice products--some of which are outstanding such as the "Thick Cut" bacon. …
Huge YIG standards, people very nice, feels a bit like a Metro (in a good way). Busy at 4pm weekday.
Love supporting local! This is a great place to pick up hot food for a quick meal. The Deli staff are ALWAYS friendly and helpful!
Staff working the curbside pick up are the best! Courteous, fun, and they work hard!
Great place to shop. Good staff
Nice clean store and found all my sale items ????
Hi actually I want to share with you a secret about Independent, for Chiken lovers you can buy 9 pieces of Crispy Chicken for only $10.99 which you can buy 3 or 4 pieces at other famous places that sell Chicken. My kids liked it so much. Give it a try. Hot, yummy and Crispy. You will never regret.
Great for a smaller grocery store that has all the basics plus a small aisle for international food and spices. Bakery and hot food counters are always well stocked. Meat is often on sale and they generally have enough for all customers before running out of an on sale item.
How can they have only 4 cashes open at 6pm the day before canada day. Disgusting. Where was the manager? Should have been on cash to speed up the line. Too expensive for this kind of service.
They need to stop adding food coloring to their meats . Bought ground beef lean. I had enough grease in that meat to fill a french fry cooker. The meat was not fresh .it stunk. Ruined my supper.this is not the first time. Never going back.
I walked in and grabbed a cart as I was asked, and shopped while following the COVID rules. Pleasant experience with lovely staff. If you show them respect during the pandemic they will offer respect back. Keep up the hard work guys!
Only 3 stars. Just was there and spent $ on something I did not plan on buying. Saw a good deal in flyer and chose this store. They don't bring enough stuff they advertise in the flyer but sure enough they'll put more expensive stuff next to empty spot where adverized items should've been...
I was very disappointed today when I was forced to take a cart at the entrance when I told the "greeter' that I only needed one item. I took the cart so he'd let me in the door and then left it to the side and found my item. He then …
Would give this place negative stars if I could. All the staff aren't even wearing masks and half of them don't have gloves. Even most of you customers did not have masks. Seems like way too many people are intentionally disregarding the …
