REVIEWS OF Mariposa Market IN Orillia

It is such an interesting place. Between the bakery/cafe, Seasonal Store & Scent Shop, you're pretty much covered. I stopped in for a salad and left with my nephew's birthday present and some foot care products for myself and I did it all under the same roof. Perfect. This place has been part of my growing up and I'm no spring chicken. It is definitely a staple of Orillia. Keep up the good work Bob and team

Leila T

Great little spot in Orillia for all things fresh baked. Lovely little store. Gets a little crazy busy on the weekends but it's worth the wait!

Dewayne Williams

Their food is absolutely amazing. I eat their wheat free foods, and it's delicious, best wheat free baked goods I've had, and a lot of variety to choose from! Everyone is always so friendly and polite. Absolutely recommend!

Victoria V

It's worth the drive to Orillia. I decided to close out Pride month with the Homer donut. It's pink. Like really pink. Probably works for Easter too.

Angela Katsavavakis

I picked up two pies on Dec 23. Drunken Christmas pie and pumkin pie. I ordered ahead and service was good. The pumpkin pie however had no flavor and the crust was ..well I don't know what it was. It did not taste fresh or good. I usually make my own pie but thought I would treat us. The last time I bought a Texas donut it also tasted a day old and lacked flavor. New baker???? The drunken Christmas pie on the other hand was delicious with a flakey crust.

Chris Blais

Really nice food. Really nice coffee. Really nice experience. So much better than your 'usual coffee and sandwich' joint.

Neat little place with numerous sweets and savoury homebaked goods

Paul Venditti

The staff is always very friendly and helpful and make me feel like I am part of the family. Excellent food

Amber Cline

In for that old fashioned meal, you will be surprised by the variety and quality both at the bakery and restaurant.

Frank JR Skelton

This place is amazing. Be prepared to spend more time than you meant to. The food is delicious. Desserts are in abundance. The attached stores are so intriguing! Bring some extra money. You never know what you will walk out with!

Jacob Matthews

First time in Orillia and this place was highly recommended. They did not disappoint. All fresh baked goods. So yummy

harmoniouslee

Enjoyed a beautiful flat white and a latte this morning! Such a chill vibe...love it there! I'll definitely be back when I'm in town again!!

Boneyard Shitshow

Absolutely a must if you are visiting Orillia. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So much history in this place. Pastries and all sorts of delicious baked goods, all made on site.

Tanya Robertson

An interesting and storied old shop with tasty treats and a basement shop filled with kitchen gadgets that I inexorably find totally useless but am simultaneously compelled beyond my will to buy. Good sandwiches and friendly staff!

Chris F

Newly expanded and renovated, absolutely gorgeous inside. Great spot for a light lunch or snack. Awesome baked goods and an espresso bear.

James Dooley

A great place to stock up on treats for a weekend up north. The Apple fritters are awesome, the strawberry rhubarb loaf is a hit. They dont really have misses here... Also a great spot to grab a hostess gift, and hit up a walk down at the lake a block away. There is a great playgrounds down there for the littles who might need a break from the car ride.

Johny Walker

Apple pie muffins sold out at 4 pm. Didn't see the parking meter, outside the door (along the walls). Paying a $15.00 parking ticket online. Had 2 deliciously expensive cups of coffee. Now I just need to get home.

Lynne O'Leary

Orillia staple. Locally owned, clean bakery. A bit pricey, but I have not had a bad product from here in the 30+ years I've been going.

Gill Tillmann

A comfy cozy atmosphere great for a casual date or a nice family lunch. The food is always delicious and the desserts are to die for.

Being diabetic, this place is the definition of temptation. But everything they make is amazing, so I must exercise self control. Otherwise I'd be doomed. But I love the place

Cathy Lynn

It was very clean and the atmosphere was great. Food was delicious...

Loretta and family

Great cafe that has been in Orillia for years. The owner have just finished a major renovation that offers a lot more inside space for customers to stay and eat. Only complaint that I have is that all of the warm food that they offer hits a microwave before it hits for plate.

Nectaria Georgiou

Lots of fantastic products and delicious food/drinks - if you're ever in the Orillia area you need to stop in at the Mariposa Market! (Staff are all very friendly too!)

Karin Voegele

overpriced. horrible and rude service. will never be returning here.

Terry Proveau

To be honest I don't understand the draw to the Mariposa Market! It's a cute market with a nice ambiance inside. A very country boutique atmosphere. That said, prices are high, it's insanely crowded and there are NO vegan options. It's very difficult to find ingredient lists/nutritional facts on most items. It's cute to visit once and say you did but I don't think I'll be returning.

James “Dexter” Dextr

Too many good choices. Everything is excellent.

Dave Oliver

Wonderful place. Great food - especially their baked goods - and lots of great specialty jams and sauces ... and fudge! Great place for gifts and fun knickknacks.

Jennifer D

Tried the toasted s’mores mocha and Skor Donut!

David Flack

Wow, nice place they sell variety of good and healthy desserts. It's unique place to pickup like homemade bread and the like. It's a good drive to upload the body and the mind. A change of environment helps the body refresh from the pandemic pressures.

Brian Mc Gonagle

I also love going to the Mariposa Market. They make the best bake goods I have ever had. They also have a great variety of food on their menu. You can't beat their choices. They also change their menu to keep you coming back for more all the time. I have never had anything that I wasn't happy with. They also have a great gift shop, and boutique. Not to mention that they have a great variety of art to choose from. There is also a large seating area throughout the store. In the basement there is a great shop called Apple Annie's. This area is full of great kitchen gadgets. Not to mention the fabulous convections. Especially the fudge. When you are in the city of Orillia Ontario Canada. Mariposa Market is definitely the main draw to the downtown area to be. You don't know what you are missing!

Darth Stormageddon

Great selection of breads, pastries, treats, sandwiches and drinks. Expect crowds, so go in with patience. Well worth visiting.

Carolyn Nichol

Great place! Id tell you to try their garlic dills but then there might be less for me lol. The donuts are amazing and the food is pretty good.

Deborah Belcher

I picked up a cake here for my son's birthday. Great selection of baked goods that all look delicious. The death by chocolate cake was incredible. My family and I will definitely be visiting again.

pbwizard2007

Great neat spot to visit for anyone passing through Orillia. Decent cup of coffee and lots of bakery items to choose from. They also have a deli lunch counter now you can get a sandwich at.

Dwayne Fortman

Amazing coffee, amazing cakes, amazing jam. Beautiful store, a must see in Orillia! Warning though, dangerous place if you have a sweet tooth ????????

Meagan Rowatt

No discount for casino employees anymore. They also rip you off when you pay by debit. The machines attached to their tills don't work. So they pretend you pay cash and then charge you on a portable debit. Not a lot per customer but those rounded cents add up to a lot of extra money when everyone pays by debit.

Beautiful atmosphere, selection of baked goods, gift items and the deli prepares delicious meals. Washrooms are open to the public and kept clean. Staff is friendly.

Burt Simcoe

Local fixture in Orillia that I take visitors to as a rule. If I need a cake it comes from there, my wedding cake was from there 27 years ago! It was a Strawberry venetian cream filled white cake with chocalate ganache poured on top of buttercream frosting. Highly recommend, YUMMMY! The place is huge with two lunch counters, fresh baking, coffee bar, preserves and gifts galore. All the baking/ cooking is done in house and the gluten free items are very good.

Anu

A very cute (but huge) place if you are in heading to Muskoka, with wide variety of items ranging from sauce, jelly, spreads, cakes, pastries and breads. We tried quite a few things from fresh bakery items along with coffee and all of them tasted pretty good. While we didn't get to try but have heard, their tomato soup is a must try and they usually run out of it, by before lunch times. This place also has a gift shop within the vicinity.

Been here a couple times. The food has been good, but the best part is the cozy feel of the place. The loft on the second level is a nice place to sit. A huge assortment of foods and two separate areas to order from. An Orillia classic from what I hear.

wawa2099

It is very nice bakery, antique.... Hope they can have low suger, keto bread and/or pastries will be great

Tucker the Pug

Just a lovely store/restaurant filled with wonderful baked goods, breads, preserves, and gifts. Yes it is busy, yes you may wait it line but there is a reason... quality.

Smac

Awesome little Market. Great food. I buy their pies and pretend I made it myself at family gatherings. Always a hit! Haha

Lindsay Butler

Love visiting this place, has something for everyone. So many delicious baked goods to choose from. Great spot to eat in and also perfect for taking things to go. I love their cakes for special occasions, the San Francisco Sourdough bread is amazing and their coconut macaroons are some of the best I've ever had. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

Corrina Hodgson

So much home-made food! You will find anything from something you love, to something you always wanted to try!

Norman Jade Santos

Mariposa market has been a staple of this to town for my entire life. The new renovation is fantastic.

Natalie Lancaster

Overpriced stuff you can make at home. They're pulled pork sammich is great but 10 bucks for a jar of corn relish is criminal

Alex St.Germain

A wonderful place to visit. Good food ,a place to visit with friends or family. We had a nice lunch together and did some shopping.

Steph B

Great place still open during vivid. Lots of Credit vid measures being done and taken care of. If you are looks ng for great food or treats must stop here.

Olivia Naylor

Had heard good reviews about this place. Seeing it in person is another level experience. Hidden gem in Orillia. Must visit. Perfect for dates, brunches with the girlfriends, family and even just by yourself. Little shops to explore inside for souvenirs. Its usually busy.

R.G. Carter

Love Mariposa! I've never had anything that doesn't taste better than expected. Be prepared it is always busy but they are great a getting everyone served.

Sandra Browne

Great food. Fun shops. Amazing deserts. Do not go there hungry otherwise your heading home with fudge ????

Marcus Sisconetto

Mariposa Market is a local institution. The baked goods are always fresh and the cakes are fantastic. They have a great selection of salads, wraps, and sandwiches as well. Cannot go wrong here.

Archie Ives

Been coming here since I was a kid. Newly renovated but still has the old fashioned charm as well. Love the Hermit cookies!

Marina Yoga Path

Great place to meet with friends for coffee. Awesome treats and sandwiches. Also a great place to have a business meeting.

Randy D

Went there on a Sunday morning and bought an apple fritter. It was so warm and fresh, it was the best fritter I've had. We also got an apple pie muffin, which I loved, and plain butter tarts that were perfect in consistency. Would DEFINITELY go there again!

Karyn Olson

One of the prized gems of Orillia. Simply the best bakery/cafe around. An warm rustic feel inside the shop coupled with many, many selections keeps customers coming back for more. The only place that I know of that can produce one of my favorite drinks - an iced coconut milk latte. Highly recommended for a sweet tooth, a hearty meal, a stellar beverage and unique retail items. The staff are very warm and friendly. Keep up the great work Mariposa Market!

Paola Palmili

So many yummy things! Portions are huge! Service is wonderful and the flavours are the best of home made goods. Once seating is allowed after covid this is a fantastic place to go have lunch and get a Texas sized doughnut! My favourite is the homer doughnut in photo

M S

Great selection of different foods. Great, knowledgable staff. Fast, friendly service. Nicely priced.

Richard Froggatt

Good variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. Stop much tastier than your typical fast food lunch. Huge selection of desserts as well.

Rude Canuck

Wonderful place. A little overwhelming. U can spend hours in there. Lots of stuff to take in. Difficult to get around if it is busy. The prices are in good range for every budget. Nice staff and great for diabetics. Thank-you.

Hala Sabri

I ordered a batman cake my for my son's bday. It tasted good but the look of it was awful. I was almost embarrassed to bring it out at the party. Wish I could attach a pic to show but trust me when I say that i could have done better myself, not worth the money at all.

Treasure Skies

Texas sized donuts!!!! Soooo many goodies. Something for everyone. Fair prices.

Nadejda Armelim

We got their olive bread and it was so yummy Also, got a birthday cake and the baker was so nice to talk to us and change what we needed One of the best in the area!

J Oli

Was disappointed that the PB & J donut that was advertised on their Instagram was already sold out when I got there. Still purchased some Texas donuts for myself and family.

Mikee Layaoen

My partner and I enjoyed this place! They have an amazing selection of local stuff and lots of seating and great food!

Phil Norman

Love this place It's getting a bit expensive but I love the store so I can be a little forgiving.

Erez Zevulunov

So yummy! Very friendly and great customer service. My son and I have diet restrictions/allergies and the staff here walked us around the market to let us know what items we were able to eat! Their desserts taste amazing!

Josh Halbot

Love this place. Always a great assortment of goodies. The coffee bar is a little slow but otherwise never been disappointed.

Nicolle Addley

The new layout of the restaurant is awesome! It flows much better and is so clean and tidy. There is much more seating and options for cashing out so you dont end up waiting in super long line ups. The outside flowers are just lovely and inviting.

elizabeth leclair

Loads of great stuff there!! Foods, snacks, sweets cooking accessories, dishware, mugs, clothing. The foods look tasty, but we didn't buy anything

I went into the store this afternoon and had every staff member follow my brother and I around the entire time. If you want people to return to your store don't treat them like they're robbing you blind when they're just trying to find a Christmas gift. I'm embarrassed for all of them. The cherry on top was when we were more or less told to place the things we'd selected on the front counter as we continued to browse.

akhil mohandas

Always 200 percent service and quality. I have never had a negative experience

jaia konik

Customer service is top knotch. Baked goods the best. And if you need the old fashioned preserves, this is the place. A must if you stop in Orillia. And BTW, my beautiful niece does my hair just across the street. My 2 perminent stops in The sunshine city.

Nick W

This place is simply amazing! Food is great, we enjoyed the meat pie and I truly have to recommend it!! Their butter tarts, and sugar twits ???????????????? so worth the line up ????????????

Lesley Taylor

We had lunch here which was sharing a keto bacon meat pie dish which was fabulous. We also had a low carb muffin which was equally great. I wish there were even more low carb choices as there's a whole lot of high carb choices since this is a bakery and eating establishment! They do a great job and the expansion of two eating areas has made it so the lineups aren't too long.

Emily Mulvihill

Amazing selection of baked goods, beverages and specialty items. Lots of novelty items there as well. Definitely worth visiting if you are in or near Orillia. Had a hard time trying to decide what to order because everything looked so delicious.

Kim McKenzie

I am all for vaccine passports. Two servers asked for my proof of vaccine which I showed them. I asked politly if they were vaccinated. I was told it would not be discussed and that they did not have to tell me that its a private buisness. Im sure they are correct however customer safety should be their priority. They were however very rude with their reply. I will no longer be a daily customer.

John McAteer

Loved they had homemade items. Great baking and other items like clothes scent candles etc. Apple annie is beside the market and it's a cute place also while listening to jazz

Carolyn Tomkins

Mariposa Market is awesome! Have been visiting for years. Renovations have made even more dining area and more options for breakfast brunch or lunch. Large tea and smoothie menu now. Our favorites are all of the baked goods! From bread, cakes and pies to quiches, sandwiches and pizza. Everything tastes fabulous. And of course there's still Apple Annie's downstairs. So many kitchen gadgets, sauces and dips and the best fudge!!

Rainer B

Great place to pick up bakery items. I got a couple of preserves that I am excited to try or gift.

We had apple and blueberry fritters, spinach feta pastry, turkey croissant sandwich and we bought their corn/ ancho chiles salsa- all are VERY good. Fast service, friendly, LOTS of baked goods and food selection, there is small section where people can eat. Fritters, they are very large, perfect for sharing during afternoon tea or to have at brunch with friends, or when you feel like a big fritter ???? the fritters are fresh and tastes great! Pastry was great and salsa was fire. Highly recommend when you’re in Orillia!

Awesome place! Made the drive up from Newmarket with my family and it was well worth it. Everyone left with an awesome treat. Unfortunately there are a lot of cigarette smokers that hang around outside (that clearly can't read the no smoking/no vaping signs). The town of Orillia should punt them to the curb, they're just hurting local businesses.

James Creech

Love this place! I wish they had more dietary restriction options ie gluten free, dairy free. The wait can be long at the lunch counters but the food is worth it!

Andrew Shuttleworth

Great bakery! It was so beautiful, cozy and welcoming inside. Wish we had a market like this in st catharines. So much variety and everything looked delicious! I was especially excited to purchase a wheat free loaf of bread that was very tasty. Will definitely visit again if I'm in Orillia.

Christin Adree

Ever heard "like a kid in a candy store"? From the moment you walk in it smells like a food paradise with everything from fresh food to baked goods . gift shops and the hidden treasure is the basement (that you can see for yourself. A great way to spend an hour !!

food at the back porch was lack luster. steak potatoes pie was mushy inside and not very hot. noticed several people returning food returning food to be reheated. the cash out area and food pick was a disaster. VERY bad design. overall very disappointing.

So many fantastic choices. Made the trip from Barrie just for great selection. Coffee was great and the service fantastic. Next time I'll skip the tape on the boxes so I can get into them easier and quicker. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the bakery items.. cant wait to come back...

Cool little place and a staple of downtown Orillia. It has incredible choices and was absolutely packed when we were there. The coffee was fantastic and the prices were fair for what you get. If you come to Orillia then don't miss this place because it's cool.

Amelia Hillman

⚠️TOURIST ZONE⚠️ Although this is one of my favorite stores in the downtown area, it only gets a rating of 3 stars because of the amount of tourists that linger in/around the storefront. If you're local, you know to avoid this place like the plague (almost quite literally nowadays, especiallywith Covid) during the weekends and holidays because of how chaotic/claustrophobic it can get, especially with children and uncaring tourists. The food is delicious, but you'll have to decide if it's worth it! SO; my advice to anyone visiting the area .. Go at your own risk!!

Tyson Renshaw

In general a pricey place. However, the products are excellent! Enjoyed a substantial Boston Cream Donut for $2.50 ????

Jan Illing

Fantastic shop for both young and old. Great food, drinks and treats. Prices are fair and they have done a great shop creating a great atmosphere. Clean modern touches that pay tribute to the history of the business.

Natalie Batich

Love this place. Literally has something for everyone! Samples, on trend novelty items welcoming atmosphere. If you ever find yourself in orillia, stop by there. You wont be disappointed

Cindy Rumble

I called today at 4:47PM and spoke with Christina, to order a birthday cake for my girlfriends upcoming birthday this weekend. She offered excellent choices, and having tried many of their products in the past and have found all of them, absolutely incredible, I am confident the recommended cake (a Lemon Twist) will be the same. I continue to appreciate all of their excellent help. What a GREAT Place. _Lake Goomba

The absolute best place for any sweets and special coffees when you step into Mariposa market the atmosphere is as if it's out of a hallmark movie 100%

Dave T.

This bakery is big and sells more than just food. It has inside entrances to the 2 souvenir shops on its either side. They serve lunch and have tables at the back and have a basement that sells a variety of kitchen stuffs.

William Brewitt (Brew Productions)

Loved the bake goods and all the other tasty treats there especially the donuts and cakes! If you go to Orillia you gotta stop there! A staple in the community and with the drive. Just make sure you bring something to wash down all the goodness!!!

Jim Morrison

We were drove up from Stouffville to Orillia and were looking for a late lunch spot. This apot was recommended and it did not disappoint. We shared a delicious grilled turkey sandwich and caesar salad wrap. Their cranberry cider was the right mix of tangy and sweet. Only regret was we didn't get a chance to try some of their delicious sweet treats!

Marissa Halter

Soooo many yummy baked goods. The cafe is great too. Lots of local art. Nice set up with a small town feel. Should not go to Orillia without stopping in. Fudge is also to die for.

Lori South

Customer service was excellent! Such friendly staff and very patient with first time goers as we got accustomed to the incredible selection of delicacies available. Highly recommend the jams and relish options. Don't sleep on Apple Annies fudge downstairs either if you've got a sweet tooth.

If you want REALLY GOOD products and in the Orillia area, never skip this place. Their baked items are so good and so is their cafe. Lots of stuff to see and also have a gift shop for visiting folks.

Mike O'Connell

Great place to eat and lots of variety.

Fun shopping experience. Lots of nice gift ideas and pastry selection. Shop local and help sustain businesses in your area. Big box stores won't go out of business but our neighbors might if we don't help them out.

Red Tornado

Lots to chose from. Some pricey items but something for everyones financial expectations

A T

Awesome quality fresh food/baking, preserves and candy. Little pricey, but worth it.

High marks on desserts and baked goods, and the lunch menu is fantastic for a quick hearty meal on the go. You don’t have to settle for a soup and sandwich here with the menu. It’s busy at times but the crowd moves quickly and the service has always been friendly.Mariposa Market baked goods are delicious and their cakes are some of my favourites.

Sandra OBrien

Always a great place for delicious treats and gifts!

Blair Hanson

Dropped in for lunch and desserts one Saturday afternoon. We were driving through Orillia and stopped in the downtown area to enjoy the small town vibe. Dropped into Mariposa Market and we were pleasantly surprised. There's a great selection of lunch options in their cafeteria style restaurant and tonnes of desserts. Both lunch and dessert were great. The dining area is small so you may have to take your meal to go on a busy day.

My family absolutely loves this place. It’s a regular pit stop for us as we go through Orillia. Worth the drive. For a meal it’s great and it’s exciting to see and try all the great and different deserts they have as well. I would recommend it for lunch or just desert as well.

Niki Dignard

Great place for Fresh food, baked goods and preserves. When I have time to stop in Orillia, its one of my favorite places to pop in and grab something.

Cali Ramírez

I sure do like Mariposa market, however many of baked goods have palm oil in them. I do not buy any products with dirty palm oil in them. It is an unhealthy and environmentally unfriendly product.

Ryan

Good customer service. Lots of goodies. So much variety. Prices can be a bit steep but you're paying for quality!

Ally D

Always plenty of yummy treats, prices are slightly higher than a coffee shop but the quality is worth the extra money.

Stacey Kovios

I love the shopping experience here. Yummy food od course and you can always find a unique gift. The basement is my favourite because of Apple Annie's delicious to due for fudge. A must try for anyone as they always have lots of classic flavours and some really different flavours like Watermelon ????

Alexandra Agramonte

Mariposa used to be a 5 of 5, but my last few visits from this summer have knocked it down to a 4. Everything here used to be bang on. Favorites included the cornbread and death by chocolate cake. My favorites are still there, but you can tell, especially in the corn bread, that things have taken a step back. The corn bread just isn’t the same as years past. Same thing with some of the prepared food. Naked egg omelette was just horrible, wired texture from over baking and way, way under-seasoned. Overall had no flavour and was bad enough I couldn’t finish it. DBC cake was still good, same with the Sheppard and beef pies…until next year Mariposa….

Frank Epp

This is by far my favorite place in Orillia. I love the old world ambiance and the smell of fresh baked goods as soon as I step through the door. The coffee here is beyond delicious and I love the ordering system where you make your way passed scrumptious looking displays, seeing the items themselves before making a decision. I have fond memories of sticky buns my mother would bring home from this magical eatery and even had my first London Fog here. I haven't been able to find a place that does it better. Please come and check it out!

Arlene Francis

Great baked goods and preserves. Large selection of prepared meals and snacks. Hot chocolate and cider to cap it all off. So much to try, definitely requires repeat visits to try it all.

Gary Raposo

Pretty unique menu and its reflected in the prices. Can be pretty busy. Haven't come across anything I don't like from here though. Great shopping and browsing from Seasons, Apple Annie's, etc. Atmosphrre is cozy.

Celine Tallian

Very good place for baked food. Customer service is Top notch. Very friendly employees. Their coffee is special as well. Definitely a must visit place at Orillia.

S Win

Expensive! $16 for a bottle of water, soup and a San Francisco hot dog. The soup was lacking in flavour and tiny for $6. The San Francisco hot dog was nothing more than a baked wiener in a bun cover in cheese that been seating all-day reheated. I can get a lot better in Orillia for $16 for lunch.

Absolutely love this place best baking in town always busy but they never make you feel like your a bother which typically isn't the case in my experience

Will Strain

This small community is worth visiting, if not for this amazing market... Then there is also tons of amazing stores nearby. Great for a date, the water front is nearby too.

If you've never been to the market, you absolutely must. It's a gorgeous building with access from the back or directly off of Mississauga St., Orillia's "main" street. Lots to look at and insane treats for all ages.

VJ

Mariposa Market is a wonderful place to shop for baked goods. Their breads, pies, cakes, and cookies are amazing. If you're in the mood to sit down and have a coffee and a sandwich, they have you covered there too. There's plenty of seating. I personally am not up for indoor dining during this year of Covid-19, but I appreciate that Mariposa seems to have added some barriers between tables to provide extra safety for those who do want to sit down and eat.

Mary Langevin

We love coming to Mariposa any time we are in town. Lunch is always good though sometimes it can get a bit crowded. We love the lemon loaf (and other flavours) but wish they have the lemon blueberry one with the icing more often.

Busy spot , other than how busy it is I would give it 5 starts , the selection and quality of the food Is amazing. The staff are all great friendly people; I go for lunch and I order cakes all the time always consistently good , the mini cakes are so tasty and the art work on the cakes make them some of the nicest cakes you can find. I would definitely recommend stopping in if your in a orilia, I’m sure you will love it.

Laura Cousineau

It's a very quaint place , gets a little buy at times but the eating areas are nice places to sit and chat , feels like an old time coffee shop even though it is pretty big . Food is really good too.

Ryley Cousins

Beautiful store with a fantastic variety of products all priced fairly. Friendly staff too. What's not to love.

Standard Auto Glass & Tinting

Take a trip downtown and see a historic shop with great eats. No trip to Orillia is complete until you experience coffee and dessert at the Mariposa.

Ken Akai

Always amazing food and delicious deserts! You can never go wrong here.

aurelia mangunpratomo

Best bakery I have ever visited. Outstanding products. Visited again for the second time this week. We had a delicious homemade lunch here. Its a busy place at lunch time, there is so much to choose from. including a wide variety of teas. had a Texas donut It was huge. Will definitely return here and we highly recommend it.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The energy is alive and upbeat with so much variety in hand made pastries, breads, chutneys, jams, etc. If I lived in Orillia I would visit this market everyday for breakfast, lunch or just even coffee.

Wade Goowdin

It's always delicious going to Mariposa Market! It's always busy, but that means it's good. Bring a full wallet though. It's not a very thrifty spot to spend your money, but it's worth it!

Mardi

Pretty place, very nice layout. Was tricky to maneuver a stroller, though, as it's very busy. Went there on a Tuesday and the place was hopping.

Lisa Tutty

Very popular with locals and tourists. It's a must visit if you are in Orillia. Fantastic baked goods and great lunches. Plenty of seating at front and back. Also make sure to go downstairs to Apple Annie's for fudge and candies I haven't seen since I was a young boy. You can buy flavoured hot chocolate which everyone enjoys. Make sure you pay for parking or you will get a ticket. Enjoy!

I absolutely love the Mariposa Market! I have been visiting this charming bakery market for 30 years and alway been happy with their baked goods and lunch entrees. I especially love their new addition and the innovative renovations! They really needed to expand their seating area and having the other express food counter at the back door was genius! Well thought out expansion. They also have charming giftware & clothing shops. Apple Annie's has wonderful fresh fudge! I would highly recommend everyone drop in for lunch when visiting Orillia.

Nicholas R McCullough

It was my first visit at the Mariposa Market during the weekend. They had a Christmas party going on. First impressions: The storefront was very welcoming. Once inside, I had a cabin like feeling because the interior was really pretty and quaint. The Christmas decorations were so charming! There's a good selection of items to shop for such as home, clothing, food, etc. and also for food. We tried the spinach, feta, and tomato quiche, hot chocolate, san francisco hotdog, and the Christmas cupcake. Really enjoyed the food. Customer service was great too - every staff member asked if you've been helped while we were waiting in line. Will definitely visit again!!

Bruce Middleton

Old fashion bakery with wonderful service. You have to try their Texas donuts, get there early cause they sell out of them everyday!

Shanna Savarie

My favorite store in the universe! Downstairs, apple Annie's ( moving a few doors down) has old time fudge, vintage candy, preserves and every kitchen gadget, unique serving tray or host accoutrement you can think of. The market has all sort of baked goodies and the best cinnamon buns

Dianne Crittenden

Such a lovely store great baked goods always fresh. Staff are very helpful can get busy at times. My favorite place when I come to orillia

Jinx DeForest

Mariposa has always been a favourite over the years. I recently visited again after moving away to find it totally changed not for the better in my view It has lost the atmosphere that made it cozy and inviting in order to sell..sell..sell their goods. Seating removed and only upstairs or at back cold entrance. My favourite stores not within anymore or downstairs wares and fudge closed off. There is very little in the remaining store worth buying. Why can't they keep it like it was a place worth visiting..unlikely to return again. I remember the days it was a vibrant cozy meeting place we looked forward to visiting...not anymore.

Trish Hughes

Lovely atmosphere, absolutely delicious treats and savory goods. Love the décor as well.

Gal About Town

Mariposa Market is a very warm and cozy market that has an abundance of pastries, as well as food and hot and cold drinks (coffee, hot chocolate, juices, pop, etc). I go here for a hot chocolate while studying or specifically for their extremely creamy and mouthwatering mac n cheese. The ambiance is amazingly cozy and jolly. There is another and more newer looking back side of Mariposa that has more seating as well as as a parking lot just outside of the back door entrance for all your early morning coffee and breakfast needs before work. If you’re visiting Orillia you should stop by and check it out and get yourself a little treat.

Jumana Ch

Having never been into this establishment before I was mightily impressed with the Mariposa Market! Busy with sales and 'lookers' and folks having lunches on the balconies above, the market seems a lively place even on a weekday. Side rooms offer some clothing and specialty bath and beauty items, and more baking available in the back room with extra seating booths and washrooms. Seems like there was something for everyone here, and I really enjoyed the smell of the fresh baking as I came through the door.

Angela Lewis

Great hangout for locals and tourists alike. Good food, treats, and drinks with a focus on the sweet side. Bakery at the front and a separate chocolatier store in the basement.

金玫Barrie 华人地产经纪 Mei Jin

This place is definitely a gem of this town. Really good sandwiches and cakes. The chocolate loaf cake was yum and so was the blueberry cheesecake. Super busy place still they provide excellent service.

We ordered a variety of tarts, cookies and brownies for dessert at our small backyard wedding and everything was so delicious! My maid of honour picked up the desserts for us and everything was ready to go at the time I had requested. I thought I had ordered too many, but there were none left at the end of the night! We received so many comments on how delicious everything was.

Shan Graszat

A mandatory stop on any trip north. Love the quality and selection. And let's be honest, a Texas donut is a beautiful thing.

Section 8 Comercial Free Music

Great first time dining here. Got a few sweet treats and some great Christmas gifts too!!

Shona McRae

Incredible lunch spot! Love the wheat free options. Great customer service from the friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back.

Leah Shaw

The downstairs isn't open atm. Fabulous selection of foods and preserves. Plenty of Canadiana to be had. Bring your proof of vaccination if you want to dine on.

Jim Tate

Dinner rolls.....soft, squishy...light and fluffy....could eat a dozen by myself. Huge assortment of baked goods, overwhelming, but in a good way. :) I wouldn't miss it if I were passing througb again.

B Rowlandson

Great spot Delicious food, interesting gifts

Suresh Krishnan

I've walked by many times and decided to stop in. I am so glad I did. Plenty of wonderful baked items and every variety of home style pickle/preserve/jam you can imagine as well as an "Olde Time" candy shop. They had probably the best donuts I have had in forever. There are plenty of places offering gourmet dohnuts and they are pretty much just "meh". Their basic donut topped with chocolate was the best I have had in ages. Plenty of other varieties and Texas Sized donuts. So if you enjoy a quality product make sure to put the Mariposa Market on your must visit list when you are in Orillia.

Ordered my daughters Dora birthday cake 3 weeks in advance and when the day came for me to get it it wasn't ready, made me wait an extra 40 minutes for it but that's not even the main issue. it was still hot so it completely slid off the bottom which ruined the side completely and. the cake was not even edible it was so sweet that none of the 5 guests could even handle eating it and there was a piece of something in the cake that someone almost ate either a piece of cardboard or something else. i definitely don't recommend ordering from here and i wont be ever again.

Ryan Hanley

Great place with kind and hospitable hosts. The place is a blend of restaurant and café with connected bakery/specialty store. I had their spinach quiche and Mac and cheese. Both were delish.

Rachel Hensher

Apple pie muffins and cinnamon buns

Kristie Snoddon

Since the remodel I was surprised to find that mariposa has still kept its cozy charm. Their menu items never disappoint and their staff are always helpful, efficient, and friendly :)

Anthony Welch

I just loved being ignored. Me and my family were just there. We didn't have lunch because the "waitress/cashier" refused to serve us. We said hello and she said she'll be right back. However when she cam back she served the person behind us instead. The "waitress" was extremely rude and unprofessional I won't be coming back here again.

JJ

A very cute and colorful place with lots of sweets and baked goods. They also serve lunch items such as wraps, sandwiches, quiche, smoothies, tea, etc. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. A must visit if you are in Orillia.

Dave C

The food is delish. It’s presented so well in the glass displays. We had lunch and got baked goodies to take home for dinner!

Sandra Taylor

Love from the first bite :)) great place with a lot of character, and delicious menus ????

Douglas Watson

Always wonderful staff and excellent food options there although a little bit on the pricey side.

Mike Atkinson

Best bakery in Orillia for treats pies and so much more. It's a must visit if you're coming to Orillia.

Michelle Bromell

A must see in Orillia !! Hats off to your Barista who was working on 09/07/2020... EXCELLENT Latte 12/10 for quality ;)

Huy Bui

Amazing service top notch friendly staff???? food is delicious ????

Horatiu Druma-Strugariu

Amazing baked goods and their specialty cakes are outstanding. Great customer service.

Erin Dee

I live in Orillia and meet friends for coffee and a muffin at Mariposa Market each Saturday. I love the creaky floors and old atmosphere. It’s a blast from the past! It’s divided into 4 sections: 3 upper and another on the lower floor, so they sell much more than just food. A trip to MM is a must with each new guest and once they’ve been there, they insist on returning to MM each visit.

Y K

Great selection of dessert and bake goods for all tastes. Good place for a quick lunch with pre-prepared sandwiches and salads. Popular spot and can be busy at the best of times. With the recent expansion and renovation things are much better than the past.

Jessica Dhaliwal

It's a fabulous place. There are too many items to chose. We had a Christmas party here just before COVID. We had a wonderful time here. The dessert is my favourite . I will come back. I wandered around here today.

Pete C

Wow! Awesome market. Orillia downtown has plenty of art installations on street for viewing nearby and this little market is a whole entire experience unto itself! The donuts are humungous. The breads are fresh! I eat keto and I'm gluten free so I feel the experience was wasted on me, but if you want to tingle your sweet tooth, this is the place! It's a kid in my a candy shoppe feel when you walk in the doors. Very busy, sandwiches and wraps looked fantastic!

Victoria Mendonca

Their baked goods, wrap and sandwich were delicious. My only critique would be to serve the BBQ chicken ranch wrap hot and warm the donuts.

Monique Rai

One of my Fav staples in Orillia. If you haven't tried the San Francisco Hotdog. Or a Texas Donut than your missing out. As of July ,3rd masks are still optional. However I that may change.

leslie l

I love Mariposa Market .Great meeting spot for families and friends.I was treated rudely however by a staff member .Im sure she will not last long as this would take no time to be recognized by.the owners who in no means will stand for this.I will continue to love Pozie Mawkit .My daughter called it this 30.years ago.

This great bakery never disappoints. Every time I go in I always manage to come out with something. Even during the pandemic they offer a decent selection of food. Can’t think of anything I have not enjoyed. Their mini cakes are great.

Tricia Mangat

Amazing selection of food. You can get salad, main course and desert either for eat in or take out. There are too many food choices to list but off the top of my head: tea biscuits, lasagna, butter tarts, jams, jellies, cakes, sandwiches and a variety of options for drinks as well. It really is a market, one of a kind. They have combined several restaurants and stores into one multi level, walk through shopping experience with an old world feel.

Ryan Gillard

Best place to visit when in Orillia. Great lunch, awesome baked goods, and the adjoining stores have wonderful items

Gary Morris

Fantastic three floor restaurant and bakery! I bought their Tuscan bread and a score donut and both were fresh and heavenly! A really lovely stop in Orillia!

Brad Fonseca

This market and bakery/cafe is on the Main street of Orillia downtown. The store is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. It feels like an European bistro. The center of the establishment it’s a bakery, flanked on both sides by stores, one is a clothing store, and the other is a Home Goods store. They sell really neat things on both stores. The bakery has a lot of choices for savory and sweet goods. Great place to have breakfast or lunch; there are a few tables to seat and enjoy your food. We enjoyed our savory items very much, all of them. Their sweet baked goods were not as good as Wilkies though.

This place is a 'Must stop' It's a bakery & coffee shop, with great meals. Best treats in town. Clean and Cozy. Friendly staff and parking on street or the lot behind. Great place to get baked goods or a gift for someone. Worth a visit.

Diane Maddeaux

Wonderful service and the best cakes and pastries in the area. We love it as usual. Thank you

Mike THURLOW

Anyone who doesn't love this place??? My mouth is watering thinking of it

Kathy Yanuziello

Good service and friendly staff. I don't recommend their chicken Ceasar wrap, they put way too much dressing on them and dont mix it in very well. Completely ruins the entire wrap.

Kyle Brown

My favourite bakery in Orillia...but it's SO much more than just a bakery! Anyone visiting the area must take the time to go in for a lovely meal or treat ????

John Cooper

The staff are stellar, amazing atmosphere, and the baked goods are second to none. I've made day trips from the GTA just for this place. I couldn't recommend this place more.

Tim De Leij

Very clean and tidy mostly excellent food some a little over sweet for my tastes but aside from that excellent.

Stephen Cheng

I took a birthday cake last week for my daughter...the worst cake ever- full of sugar only..not edible- too much sugar..the cake was horrible....the worst cake ever.

Carley Inglis

Best deli and market. Love the donuts, sandwiches, and jellies.

SR Fishing

Great food and snacks. I always enjoy my visits. However it will cost you an arm and a leg to have lunch with your family.

Sarah Brown

Fabulous selection of products. Enjoyed the atmosphere.

D “DS79” S79

Yummie baked goods. Excellent choices. Glutton free as well. Stopped by for lunch & coffee break. Has the feel of Old general store. Friendly efficient staff. Went back next day for breakfast.

Laura Smit

Great place to grab good food and awesome desserts

Julie Keats

Mariposa is a iconic place to visit while in Orillia. I am not q fan of having already made microwaved sandwiches and some stuff has been stale not being made fresh that day but I still encourage you to check them out and Apple Annie's downstairs with candies and hot sauces and much much more !

Tyler

A beautiful and unique location with amazing delicious food and beautiful housewares. Love coming here.

Hollywood19

Great as always. It's a staple in the community. Great spot for a quick lunch and treat. The regular drip coffee isn't the best, but their lattes are good.

Michelle Larmand

You seriously can't visit Orillia without visiting Mariposa Market. I'm a huge fan of their donuts and fruitcakes in the winter, and the renovated back porch is perfect for getting a sandwich.

Al Bernst

Large variety of decadent baked goods and tasty quick hot and cold sandwiches and light meals. Also home and gift items and candy.

A C (spruce35)

This is my favorite place in Ontario. The baked goods are to die for!. They have incredible gifts to buy.

B T

An array of seductive treats, such that I always have a hard time choosing. But always yummy! Those monster cookies, yesssssss. Also friendly, nice patio (in summer obvs), cool vibe. Could do with a bit more selection of gluten-free treats for ppl in my family, though I understand it's somewhat niche.

Rev. Jessie Brandon

A great Bake shop. Everything is Delicious, just a bit expensive. Love going in to shop in the store

Diana Bancud

Food is good but the service is so slow. Wait 20mins just for someone to make a side salad. Seems to be three order takes and only one person only make the food.

frank the tank

One of the best bakeries I have been to. Always good selection, including wheat free options. Delicious baked goods

Frederick Platt

Absolutely wonderful place! Delicious baked goods and the hot chocolate was amazing! The staff were great and helpful. Can't wait to go back!

Teresa Sliwinski

Absolutely wholesome, home made, heart warming deliciousness...well worth cheating the diet...for just for one day...????

Mandy Branham

Beautifully maintained heritage property, with amazing baked goods and preserves. Nice store on site as well. Staff are friendly; family run, casual atmosphere. A real gem.

Humble Sledder

Great food and so fresh. Best wraps I've had.

Christian G. Kay

What a beautiful store! Very quaint and clean! The doughnuts are so fresh and delicious!!!!

Martin Showell

Located in the heart of Orillia I have to say this Café may just be one of the best I have ever been to. The coffee is fantastic, the Latee's are fantastic they offered a loyalty card so every once in while coffee is on them. The treats are amazing and I may admit I have had the turkey croissandwich and the pulled pork sandwich enough to say they might just be the best sandwiches in town. Enjoy!

J & J Hoffman

Visited towards the end of the day so some stuff sold out. I would recommend they make sweets and treats to cater to vegans as well as there were no choices. Otherwise everything looked yummy

Chris Meunier

Very worth the trip to Orillia to visit this market & bakery Some artwork around downtown Orillia

Jennifer Campbell

I always visit Mariposa Market when visiting my parents as everything there is delicious. This year with Covid, I ordered some baked items for delivery to my mother for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately mistakes happen and the wrong item was delivered. After notifying them of the mistake, they immediately refunded the money and delivered an entire basket of goodies to my mom’s house (they would have delivered the correct item if they were not sold out). I cannot say enough about the quality of customer service I received.

Sarah Milner

Besides being always incredibly busy, it’s a fantastic spot for a lunch. With a great selection food options, and really good coffee- the cafe side of Mariposa Market is a local must. The shop side of things, anything you get - literally anything is going to taste amazing! It is a bakery lovers paradise! The best cake, best cookies, great cinnamon buns, and so much more!

Amanda Cochrane

A quaint and artisanal market, this is one of my favourite places to eat in Orillia. The food is home-y but more like grandma used to make, than mom. You can also buy the yummiest desserts to either gobble up on the spot or bring home and enjoy with the family Beyond eating on the premises, you can purchases delicious loafs, whole cakes, pies and muffins. My family has been ordering their birthday cakes from here for years! Oh! And cookies! They have delicious cookies. And jellies and jams, too. Basically, everything delicious treat you could ever want can be found at the Mariposa Market There’s a convenient lot around back, too, for parking your car

Brittany McDougall

Good place to take ur grandma for a doughnut or soup...but lackluster pastries and sub par coffee...still glad it is here though

LeeLee Q

It is a great place for something to eat. Lots of choices. You can also get gifts on either side.

William Scott

Lots here. The lattes and other coffee drinks rival the Star$$'s franchise in quality and price. Great casual cafeteria style foods, pasta, hot or cold sandwiches. Tons of baked tasty baked goods and massive store made doughnuts.

Rafael K

Left within seconds of walking in the door. No one was monitoring the door so the place was extremely over crowded. Long lineups with Zero social distancing. If you are trying to stay safe during these troubled times avoid this place..

Dianne Way

This place is amazing!! I have never seen such beautiful cakes and such a huge baking selection. We got some donuts and sandwiches to take home with us. If passing through Orillia be sure to stop in here, you will not be disappointed.

Ish C. Dalm

If ever you're not feeling the Christmas spirit, this is the place to go at Christmas time! We have a tradition of coming here getting fudge a few baked goods and whatever last minute stuff we have left to buy. I love live this place! Staff is amazing!

Megan Radigan

Good food and bustling, lively atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful but you have to order and pay for everything at the counters and the flow doesn't quite work. Be prepared to wait a bit.

Jason Smith

I want to commend the staff at Mariposa. The store was etremely busy with customers, however all the staff I interacted with were incredibly patient, friendly and accomidating, even under such a caotic time of the day.

Jordan Allen

You go to Mariposa for the ambience and the baked goods. Very popular at lunch time on the weekends and during the summer. Lunch is OK but food is warmed up in a microwave. Salads are fresh and great.

craig maidens

We go every weekend to get our bake goods and a nice lunch.

chad johnson

Loved the food!!! Best mac n cheese

Sanna Philip Wilson

Worth the drive! Packed with wonderful home-made and local foods, baked goods, treats and spreads. The decor and open concept market vibe was beautiful, and the place was well-staffed to ensure customers were serviced quickly and pleasantly. We had a San Francisco Baked Hot Dog, a Pulled Pork Sandwich, a Chicken Enchilada, and a BBQ Chicken sandwich. For dessert, a Blueberry Fritter, a Homer Donut, and an Eclair. All delicious, plentiful, and very fresh. We will be making this a weekly visit for sure.

Paul Carletti

This bakery is the best sweets bakery around. We drive from Barrie for the apple fritters alone and always end up with more than we bargained for! Hands down best fritter!

Miti Gandhi

Nice bakery/market. Lots of cakes, donuts, and bread. Didn't seem to be a lot of pastry selection for how big the store was. Large store. Be sure to check downstairs for fudge and other goodies.

Mike Laevens

Love this place been going for years, got to stop in for their fresh donuts at 6am. I Don't get the opportunity much anymore but when I know I'm going through Orillia I make the stop, A treat, lunch, or a gift for someone from one of the connected stores great place to stop.

Mason McIsaac

Very busy but still enough room to sit and have lunch. It's always a nice drive to orillia.

Katie G

I went there for lunch once and I can't wait to go back! The whole experience is incredible! Honestly, between all the stuff to see and the café it's a unique experience. It's so busy so sometimes hard to find seating.

Ashley Vickers

Very friendly staff but my fritter wasn’t cooked through there was still doughy and the Mac and cheese was some of the worst I’ve had! Sorry mariposa! Seems very overrated to me

Rob Rinneard

Come get your spices, chutneys, cakes! Your baked goods, wraps and sandwiches! Salads, cold drinks and good company. And don't you DARE expect any of it to be subpar, literally everything even things you don't like will be enjoyable here.

Randy Hardie

Great old time feel....great place to spend some time and just sit for a coffee and desert...feels like you are going back in time...I love the feel and of course love their food as well....lol

I went with my boyfriend's aunt and we had a good time discussing the different treats. Lots of baked goods. Not what I expected.

Delightful market with a very large selection of bakery and food options as well as clothing and souveniers. I have never been before but I will definetly return. I was so impressed.

Stephen Andari

Always a great selection of desserts and special fun food.

We had a vanilla cake with custard and strawberries. The ingredients were very fresh and the cake was very moist.

David Lin

Delicious and cozy place. So much better than Starbucks or Tim... Really tasty. The best breakfast place in Barrie region.

Brian McKenzie

It's always a great place to visit while in Orillia!! Great for lunch coffees bread and sweets - lots of great take out items to bring a host for dinner! If you haven't been in awhile - check out the renovations!

Chrissy Lee

Mariposa is a one of a kind experience each time you go in. Excellent food, sweet and spicy, but so loaded up with everything you love that it feels like it must be a single each time you take a bite.

Bdt Kim

Quality stuff as always. Great place to buy a gift for someone or decor. Cards as well. Always helpful.

Rian Williams

Stopped here on a long drive for a bite. Staff is friendly. We got the mac n cheese with the chilled strawberry cheesecake and YUMMY! All the food was delicious, our mac n cheese was so fresh and warm! Lots of seating and cute art on the walls. We were impressed by this place and the variety they had. Lots of people here for a monday afternoon - will visit again if in the area :)

Robyn Warner

Great food and even better desserts..

Family Pecio

Full of historical charm and many interesting things for sale. A fun place to shop for unique gifts. The food was a little stale.

Annie Mathez

Awesome, tasty and delicious cakes and other bakery products. My favorite place for buying birthday cakes

Jasmine Cameron

Fan diddly tastic..lol. what a great store a must see... hope your not dieting..treats galore...wow

Tommy Langzik

Orillia's finest store for tea an coffee, sweets and eats. Lots of amazing little gifts here. I love the comfy country atmosphere.

Kyle T

This was so much fun! Wandering through the bakery itself-- which has a lot of gluten-free options, not just the "one cupcake of the week"-- was aesthetically pleasing, but it was also fun to go downstairs and look around. The whole place felt very much like the experience you'd have if you were the "kid in a candy store."

Erik Crighton

Lovely little place. Some restrictions because of covid, but a great selection of sandwiches and baked items.

Tim Howell

Fabulous bakery. Vegetarian options too. Busy place but nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will come back.

Cat O'Connor

Great stop on way home from cottage. Tea & outstanding muffin fills up up. Spotless washrooms. Friendly helpful staff. great retail area to pick up baked goods for home & other high quality retail items to tempt you. Never miss stopping in when in Orillia. Cheers

Katrina Abram

A bit overhyped. Overpriced jams and condiments. Things you can get in a regular bakery. If you’ve been to st Lawrence market in Toronto this is nothing compared to it.

charleneshappy@gmail.com Wakeandbake420

I always go here anytime I'm in Orillia.

Ana Galvao

Mariposa is a household name in ORILLIA, and I feel like Mariposa Market has a certain unique vibe for newcomers that people love. If you’re stopping through or visiting definitely take a visit. That said, after being there several times it begins to get old. The food options are Ok, but nothing to write home about. This is likely an unpopular opinion, but the food options are nothing out of the ordinary. I am not a frequent visitor because of this. That said, they definitely know how to do Donuts.

Roly Wight

The Mariposa Market is a must see. The baked goods are phenomenal and reasonably priced. There are two gift shops and a great kitchen and fudge shop as kart of the market. You can enjoy a great coffee and breakfast or lunch right there. Jt is conveniently located in Downtown Orillia along with a lot of other great shops!

Kathy Kinrade

This place is a treasure. I make sure to visit every time I’m in the area.

Melanie Nicole

Local bakery and also some yummy sandwiches/quiches available for lunch! Great gift shop too!

Maddie Jane

Came to Orillia for work all the way from Etobicoke. Bought some pies and some fresh bread. Absolutely amazing! The staff were really nice too! I will definitely stop by again.

Joel V

Delicious lunch and the best donuts. Tons of charm. A must visit for tourists and locals alike.

Bonnie Li

Worst service and lunch! There seems to be no procedures in place behind the lunch counter. Food was awful! From a disgusting cheddar spinach quiche to an over microwaved mac and cheese to a burnt croissant sandwich with so much mayo you couldn't taste anything else.!! Overpriced and under delivered. I don't recommend eating here. A quick stop at the bakery counter is all this place is good for and even that will be expensive!!

J Henry

The food is great, but the people are really what makes this place special. I always leave satisfied.

CaitieBC

Always a fun place to feel the vibes of Orillia. Owners have created a welcoming haven to eat yummy delicacies!

Kallen Begg (TMPS)

Staff are knowledgeable. Food is amazing and portions are generous. Definitely recommend stopping here for a bite to eat or a place to relax with friends. The renovations have turned out quite well!

Danielle Pota

No vegan options sadly!

Ryan Pearson

The best place for freshly baked bread and cakes

Chris Elzinga

OMG!! If you live close by you have to check this place out!! It’s everything and more you could want in a bakery market! I had a wrap which was absolutely delicious and their chai tea doesn’t even compare to any other place! Can’t wait to come back!

Ravine Pinter

Room was clean. Staff very friendly. Only thing restaurant closed at 8 but web site said 11. After walking all day downtown shopping ate a late lunch we went to restaurant at 8:15 and closed. Had to taxis to restaurant as we had a few drinks.

Jake E. Terpstra

Great place!! Just love their baked goods and lunch options. My favorite is the huge fritters.

Awesome place. Great environment. Extremely unique and inviting. Nice new remodel with extended seating and more places to order. They have just about anything you can imagine. Love it all. Wish I had a place like this near my home. I bought the cakes, coffee, donuts and more. Delicious. My family will be enjoying these baked goods for Christmas

Carolyn Duncan

Love this place, a little pricey but you get what you pay for, witch is worth it

Raina Willow

Everything is delicious. Always fresh. Friendliest staff in the world.

Lyndsey Preston

Old timey place. Small and crowded. Great food and atmosphere. I always go just before Christmas. Helps get me into the spirit.

Olivia Carvalho

Nice place for a baked treat or a yummy lunch. Fudge in the basement is delicious.

Jen Smethurst

Went there yesterday specifically to get something to eat. It says that they have Keto Muffins. And other keto foods. The only thing that they had that was keto, was coffee. Very disappointed. Keto should be removed from their website, if they aren't planning on making keto food. Extremely hard for people like myself that are sugar addicts, to walk in there and not be triggered. Thankfully, I got a coffee and left.

Margarita Ibbott (DownshiftingPRO)

You can still get bakery items as well as take out food. The quality is excellent. They are selling home made preserves as well. A pleasant store that is open during the pandemic.

Francesca D'Amico

It is well organized and has a good flow for distancing. Food is always good when I visit. Can call ahead for a pickup order (about 1 day ahead).

CA

Beautiful shop with delicious baked goods and hot food. A must-visit place

Holly Cascone

Very nice and interesting place in old downtown area. Wide variety of food and baked goods. The back part of the restaurant looks like an addition or a remodel, however, the old meshes with the new. I spent about 20 minutes just admiring the old ceiling, the floors, and the furniture.

Kendra Wilson

I live there donuts.. They are huge and delicious.. They sandwich are amazingly delicious also.. And the Jam is the die for..

Sally Martina

Great selection of preserves, bread, deserts, etc. Awesome coffee and a nice setting to sit down and enjoy it all! Definitely recommend it!

Jazmine Livingston

Always a joy to shop & tasty lunches

Driving Lessons

Apple pie, shortbread were excellent.

Ryan Lawrence

Always a great place to visit and pick up some baked goods.

Sam Sparks

I love this little bakery in Orillia! Excellent pastries to choose from, the Texas Donut is a must! Their prepared lunch foods could use some work but they do in a pinch! Loved coming here since I was a child when we had a cottage in the area! Give this place a shot, a little over priced but very enjoyable every time!

Kathleen Fenton

When I read about this place as a must visit historic market in Orillia I thought it would be an outdoor market with antiques and baked goods! It's not outdoors but it's still pretty amazing. Looks like a small store front but once you go in you see how it expands and is really big and bustling inside. There's a bakery, freshly made lunch, coffee, smoothies, bottled spreads and sauces and there's also a basement section offering fudge. Lots of seating upstairs and outside as well. The store is connected to 2 other shops selling soaps, clothing, and souvenirs. Really enjoyed visiting here, it's a vibrant place in town that's always busy.

Kate Pearce

So much good food, mostly made in house. So many options. How can you not like this place. There's even two parking lots.

Meegs Lures

A place worth visiting. Mine was a quick visit but next time will be longer to explore all the amenities there. Beautiful older building, all kinds of yummy food (pastries, sweets, sandwiches, specialty teas and coffee. A very delightful experience.

Jason Laing

Always amazed by the extraordinary food choices. Try the Gopher Tails and the Brooklyn Meatball sandwich. Something for everyone!

Richard Martin

Great wheat-free bread here, to buy by the loaf or on a sandwich of your choice; great coffee/espresso counter; baked goods that will make you salivate and gift shops surround; multi levels of tables for lunching...make it your next destination in Orillia...it is worth getting off Highway 11 for!

R Bower

Beautiful store, especially after their recent renovations. The desserts are gorgeous and taste as good as they look. They also have fresh bakery items, including gluten free loaves and buns. This is one of my favourite places to take visitors.

dave humphries

I love the food!:) I tried the soup and ham&cheddar croissant Excellente!

Justin MacLeod

been going since I've been a little girl, love their French croissant sandwich, found as time went on though icing has gotten cheaper tasting more oily and fake tasting, the cakes aren't as generous with the fruit, all desserts have gotten more streamline money saving and less care put in. service is always great! Got a cake for a little girls birthday looked better then expected but there was a lot of icing on the outside compared to how much cake there was and not very much filling on the inside.

Mark Shibish

I phoned Monday morning to make sure the market would be open that day, specifically asking if they would be open regular hours and was told yes by the person on the phone. I recommended to people visiting me out of town that it would be a great idea to drive to the market. It took us well over an hour to get there only to see that the place had closed over 3 hours early. When I called I got no explanation at all as to why and certainly no understanding that we wasted so much time going there. In fact all I got was “what do you want me to say, I just work here” as a response. Really unprofessional and disappointing.

Brooke Yonge

Cakes are delicious! I ordered the chocolate peanut butter fudge cake for my husbands birthday and he absolutely loved it.

Hwan Tessier

Every time we visit Orillia, we come here. They have such amazing cupcakes and cakes, breads and other goodies. There's a little kitchen store downstairs we love too. They have some great fudge.

Bruce McDonald

Got some great local artisan foods and canned goods that we like to bring back with us to BC each time we visit. All the staff are always incredibly nice and helpful.

Grace Sullivan

Terribly disappointed with their bakery today. Commissioned an Avengers cake, the only present my son wanted from me, for his 6th birthday with two weeks notice. Received an email back, same day, confirming the order and details for payment and delivery, so, assumptivly, I was under the impression things on their end were fine. As the weeks went by, planning this birthday proved to be a little more invasive than previous years and I was unable to confirm, prior to the party, that the cake was complete. Fast forward to today, a half an hour after the cake was too arrive, I was on the phone with the cake decorator whom was apologizing as "it was the only cake I forgot to make. I'm so sorry..." She continued on to ask if she could bring over a "premade cake or something." If we wanted a "premade cake or something" I would have walked into Walmart and bought the cake or better still, have McDonald's provide the cake. (Which is what ended up happening) To Mariposa's bakers; you have had over 30 years of business from my family, and I have to say, you have lost my business for my children's cakes. If you want to know what you have lost because of the oops "I forgot", you have lost out on another 20 years, times 6 children per year, of cake. At $40 a pop times 6 children, times 20 years... well you can do the math. You get the one star for your coffees. You made a birthday boy of 6 years old today terribly disappointed and made a father break his promise to his child.

David

Great gluten free cookies and loafs, you have to order a head of time but amazing:)! There is sometimes gluten free cupcakes in the am that are gluten free to order at any time :)!

Carrie C.

Wonderful market place for all things nice to eat

Jesse Kovacs

Overwhelmed by the selection of baked good, donuts and food counter options. Such a great spot with on the ball customer service and a sit down eating area. The croissant sandwich was excellent.

Bruce Stewart

Never disappointed when getting food here. Freshest bread and baked goods. Always a stop when going to the cottage

Willow Dance

The place is way too busy. Food was just ok nothing spectacular. It seemed so cramped and no where to just relax and enjoy our meal. Tables are so close together you can hear each other’s conversations. For the amount we paid we could have sat down in a nice restaurant.

Bonnie Sandison

So good and so fresh you have to eat it all within a couple days.

Patricia Giudicianni

Always enjoy going to The Mariposa Market. Staff are always great and make you feel welcome. I've never been disappointed in anything I've bought. Be it food or clothing. I highly recommend for anyone to go there. ????????

Denise P

Adorable place. Great selection of bakery items. We purchased large cookies that were dipped in chocolate and had chunks of brownie attached...amazing!

Patricia Torr

Love it Hope the tables are coming back

P S

Delicious treats alllll around Including the drinks and food

Carmen Yeo

Lovelyyyyyyy . Grt to place in the downtown to get some nice food. Loved the staff and their attention to detail. Feel like visiting Orillia often just to go to Mariposa ????

Donna Lundrigan

Vegan gluten free non existent...except for a sandwich which was terrible. At least pile the vegetables on it since that is all i had to choose from. Not worth 8.00 for a sandwich. Wont be back.

Tim Rogers

Great assortment of freshly baked goods. Their cookies and cakes are amazing and worth the drive.

Ladysailing2@hotmail.com ladysailing2@gmail.com

This seems to be THE place to go to and see, in Orillia. It is THE artisan foot and treat place, with lot of stylish seating on two levels. When you step into the store, you enter a totally new world by itself. Once in here, time just flies by, but you also have keep track of your spending, because nothing is really priced in the lower ranks. Nicknacks overload is presented on bursting shelves in adjacent retail space, with fine fudge in the basement.

Riley O

Their quality seems to be good but if I found their prices to be in the higher price range probably because they have little or no competition. Personally I would not buy there again, unless I won the lottery. Now you have the facts check it out for yourself. I guess its all about profit and what the market will bear.

Matt Byrne

Been going to Mariposa Market since I was 14 yrs old....always amazing baked goods. MUST stop and browse the store and the 2 attached stores also. Always go for the Texas donut which is delicious

B Pel

Popular spot in downtown Orillia. Lots of places to sit and eat that are cozy. Washrooms very clean and modern and lots of them. Good choice of food and coffee, and good bakery.

Great baked goods.

Adam M

How gun is this? Baked goods, market full of kitch items. Great place to shop for novelty items. Right on the main street in Barrie, ON, this is well worth a stop.

Rob Trevisan

When ever I go to Orillia, I always make sure to visit this place! There's lots of great treats here from hot food to desserts to culinary gifts for all occasions. I especially like their Tuscan loaf bread. Whether you're looking for a bite to eat or something nice to take to a party, you'll definitely find something here!

Suzana Grozavescu

Baked goods are nice....meals are precooked and microwaved too long. Just had a chicken enchilada.....worst I've ever eaten

Cameron Hillmer

Beautiful place, wonderful vibe, and great photo opportunities!

Cathy Ranger

Sandwiches are fantastic, as well as their hot beverages. Everything in the bakery is phenomenal, I recommend this place to everyone.

Wilma Lalonde

Always great! Staff is fantastic and the food is incredible. 4 stars because they sell out of most things so quickly.

John Annunziello

Love coming here for baked goods! Apple Annie's downstairs is fantastic too with such cute novelties!

Deb H

Totally unique place. Can never pass up the pastries!

Suz

A landmark in Orillia. Worth stopping on your way north or south. Amazing bakery selections, especially custom cakes. Lunch foods are terrific. A glorious dining experience. Then you can shop once your done at the adjacent stores and shops. Such a fun outing for all ages. Highly recommended!!!

Steve Catt

Always a special treat to go to Mariposa Market

Denis Ohagan

Love the market I've been there a few times now. The food and desserts are delicious. I love wandering around and browsing before sitting down. It can be quite crowded on the weekends - long line ups and it's hard to get a table if you want to sit down. My only criticism is that you have to line up more than once to get food from different counters.

glenn fernandes

As a tourist I found it overcrowded. They all need to work on better customers service and better knowledge of the products they are selling. Also they need to look into packing that is more environmentally friendly.

Jason Swain

Over the top huge donuts and amazing pastries! Wow, it was a treat to see this place in Orillia. Next time I will be getting lunch! They have breads, pastries, donuts, cakes, sandwiches, wraps, quiche, along with the side shops that have a ton of candies, cards, skin care, and novelties.

Nelson Trzecak

When my group of friends were by the water, a friendly local suggested this place. I love marketplaces so I was bound to pay a visit! I arrived during what seemed to be a lunch rush. A lot of people lining up for bake goods , coffee and the hot meal section. I got a latte and cappuccino. I didn’t have my travel mug with me but I am a fan of cool inventions - and so the sliding lid really amused me haha. We then got a lemon loaf to bring home, as well as a jam. Loads of selection! We were too tempted so we lined up for lunch as well. Got a chicken caesar salad and egg salad sandwhich. If you’re a cheese lover, you’ll love the selection. I’m lactose intolerant but the mac and cheese selection got me craving it! Such a great place. Would come again - The people are so friendly!

Adam Sone

Love this place. Their muffins and soup are delicious. The staff are also very nice and polite. The place can get crowded, so pick your visit time wisely.

Joe Apollinaro

Mariposa Market is a must stop place if you like great baked goods in the old-fashioned Cottage Country Style along with some new flavours coming all the time

Lorraine and Don LaHay

I'm a regular! Love our vegetarian breakfast sandwich and soy lattes! Molly and Carrie - thank you for looking after us. Carol & Stewart

Myuran Palasandiran

We stopped for a quick bite to eat on our way through Orillia on a long road trip and we were pleasantly surprised! The bakery is outstanding and you won't want to leave empty handed!

Kyle & Christina McLaren

Order line moving well ++ Parking at front door Everyone Patting golden retreiver outdoors. A Magnet for sure under the falling snow. A yule log captured my eye on the left aisle

Karen Misek

Very busy, but a great place for a coffee and treat and sit on the patio

wayne mcnutt

Always so many choses to choose from ! Excellent food and always a great experience! Fresh bake good and excellent service.

Steve Weber

I mean, come on! Look at the photos!!

steve croft

A charming café and shop with great hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and hot lunches, and a variety of pastries! Slightly on the expensive side for their food, but given that it is all made fresh daily it's not totally unreasonable! The shop has great gifts and a good selection of kcups! A great gem but hours are definitely not tailored to working individuals, closes weeknights at 5, but nice on weekends!

Wes

This place is beautiful! We received amazing service when we popped in on a Sunday morning for coffee and pastries. Everything we bought was so tasty, especially the cranberry pumpkin pecan muffin which was truly a thing of beauty. Two friends recommended Mariposa Market to us while we were in Orillia this weekend and I can totally see why. I’m so glad we checked it out.

Jean Payne

We love the baked goods, breads, wheat free options and drinks. One of our favourite places for a treat.

Glenda Spencer

Mariposa is a nice place to have a coffee or lunch. Lots of character, like an old movie theatre. I especially like the photos on the walls.

Maureen Pender

Great place, make sure to arrive on the opening otherwise all good stuff will be gone. Must try the cake " death by chocolate". It's really good.

Sarah Gibbs

Great tasty treats with tons of unique items.

Patricia Wood

They have some lovely food items and gift items. We frequently visit for something to do. Some of the giftware is expensive but the food is fairly good for price.

It's a very interesting place with a lot of highly interesting items. The bakery food looks and smells fantastic..fresh coffee and light lunch , souvenirs and gift items..friendly staff.

Mariposa may just be my favourite place in the world. Their baked goods are out of this world and the cafe food options are just as amazing. Everything in the cafe is delicious and you won't go home hungry here. There are so many cute little nooks and crannies to explore, so many quiet places to sit and eat. I've been coming here since I was a baby and mariposa has never failed to delight. Just coming to the store at different times of year to look at the cakes is a treat, and if you have a sweet tooth, you it's have to tray the death by chocolate cake and the chocolate chunk cookies.

Michael Turner

I love this place. I try and go once a month.

Joseph Pugelj

The food and desserts are great, but it isn't very accessible. The stores have stairs and there is little room to manoeuvre a walker in the main area.

Lynn Burness

Cheesecake and chicken ceasar wraps. Two of my favourite things and both of them are done perfectly. Great local vibe, really friendly staff and I've never had to wait long to be served.

Chantel Martorino

The best bakery I have ever been too!!! We always make a stop when in the Orillia area. Fantastic fresh food daily. Great place to grab lunch or a tasty treat. I highly recommend trying the monkey business frappe. Amazing broccoli cheddar soup as well. Awesome family cafe atmosphere with cool cottage decor all custom designed within an old theatre. Keep up the great work Mariposa! An absolute must stop destination. ????

Christopher Bentley

I'd love to try so many of those delicious looking sandwiches, desserts and cakes! Cute shop attached on one side that has unique things and great gift ideas. The other is just clothes. The basement has fudge.

Mike

The food is delicious, the desserts are amazing, and if you are used to Starbucks and Second Cup, they make a MEAN latte! When I moved here, I was so pleasantly surprised to have amazing barista coffee and tea lattes. I recommend the London Fog!

Nicole Simard

The Mariposa Market is one of my favourite places in Orillia! They make the most amazing buttercream cakes and their pastries are wonderful. The atmosphere inside the market shows its age but has a modern flare to it. I find that it gets busy a lot of the time and it is hard to find parking. That's why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

Donna Charles

Great place to sit, enjoy a coffee and a fresh baked pastries. Also make the best coconut cream pie I have ever tasted.

Dorothy Ang

Could spend all day here. Endless selection of food - sandwiches, desserts, candies, jams, relishes, sauces, and tons of shopping with unique gift ideas. Friendly service.

Matt Wilson

This is such an amazing store. You could spend hours here, since they have a huge selection of baked goods, food, candy, and clothing. I visit this store every time I'm in Orillia, and have been coming here ever since I was a kid... I'm a grown adult now and still love it!

Delaine Payton

This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last!! Such a fantastic bakery with the best apple cider I've had in a very long time! Everything is so fresh and it's great walking around the little shops too!

James McEachern

Everything tastes amazing here. I've been going almost weekly since moving back to the area. Front end can be quite busy, my advice is to get your food from the back counter. There is almost never a line ;)

wendy lewis

My first time at this market today was extremely stressful. Social distancing and flow of traffic completely ignored. It was busy and for good reason, it’s a great place food wise. Pricey $$$

Patrick Wong

The original part of the market was beautiful and had fantastic food. But when we went to buy a smoothie from the new addition of mariposa the employees were not very personable. They did not smile or try to make small talk. They just took our order and left. They were not very nice people. On top of that the smoothie I had ordered came out warm. I will not be returning to that area in the store again.

Andrew Burton

Please update your website to reflect that Sunday you close at 5. We arrived at 5:30 as your website indicated you close at 6.

chantal smith

Best treats and baking ever!

Penny O'NEILL

Mariposa Market always delivers. Great food, great service and a great atmosphere!

Tracey Rogers

First time here and was delightfully and deliciously surprised by the ambience and the good food reasonably priced and just loved the fact the book store next door made me felt just a little like I was back in the Annex of Toronto's west end .

Robert Gallagher

Great selection of treats. Great place to go for lunch and reasonable prices. Friendly helpful staff

Johnny J

Very disappointed, went out of my way to visit the bake shop, hoping find some egg free pastries or desserts. Entered the store with high hopes only to find out there was only some wheat free biscuits. Didn’t sound appetizing at all. Mariposa needs to realize, it is the twenty first century, we spend money and you only needed one bake option to keep us vegans happy. Don’t go, they have no take out vegan pastries options.

Paula T

Favourite place to wander and see all the amazing good they have to offer! Definitely a continuous highlight for the city of Orillia.

A carb lovers heaven, a gluten free person's hell. Smells are terrific, like a symphony of cookies and bread and chocolate. If there was a cheese counter in the mix I'd probably move in and never leave.

Karen Milligan

Good idea if you guys Would place "Best Before" stickers on all your cookies (including your peanut butter ones). This way you are communicating the freshness to your customers. Also not a bad idea to indicate the caloric intake on your items as well. Food industry as a whole has moved to displaying calories to help customers make better Informed health conscious decisions.

robert mansfield

The Shepard's pie was really good, though I found the apple muffin a bit too sweet. We popped in when visiting Orillia for the day on Saturday and had a pleasant experience. Social distancing was enforced in the store and service was also efficient.

Erika Cotter

It's nice and all the food looks great. There's an insane amount of cakes on offer, it's difficult to resist. It's a nice place to stop though for a quick bite to eat. Everything is overpriced though and the upstairs seating is a bit dingy. The 'museum' in the back is pretty cool.

WAN Woo

What a quaint little market with a little bit of everything, great soups, sandwiches pastas. Go early to get a table, lunch and dinner can be really busy, but so worth it .

Tessa DeSantos

When in Orillia I chose Mariposa as my lunch go to. I almost always get there mac and cheese for lunch. Almost everything they make is superb. They only thing I dislike are their celebratory cakes. I give the icing is way too salty. I always end up removing the icing.

Amanda Roberts

Take out

Melissa Rhynold

Though slightly overpriced, there is a wide selection and the staff are pleasant and professional. Also, there is plenty of room to sit and enjoy their great food.

Lisa Morrow

Great selection of cakes, tarts, donuts, savoury foods, and excellent service. Be sure to check this place out if you're in town.

Robert McDade

A very near place. A HUGE bakery selection. Great coffee and a wide selection of lunch items like sandwiches. The decor in Northern Canadian chic. Great place

Guesse Kraig

This place is deadly. Good sweets, good breads. It is often packed, and is not cheap, but it is good stuff. Got some treats to start the week and will get some more before heading back to NS.

Deborah Small

A nice place to shop for local goods and souvenirs. It's tourist-oriented, so you will pay a bit of a premium, but hey, you're on vacation. Treat yourself!

Virginia Azevedo

Their donuts and sandwiches are amazing. Great selection of items

Tianna Carscadden

What a great shop. Its really more than one shop. Sandwiches. Gifts. Pies. Desserts. Delicious. Oh and you have to try the Texas donuts, especially the one with skor topping...a little bit of heaven. Can be very busy.

Shellie Craig

Cute n fun place to go. Love the setting. Food is good. The candy store is a hit for the kids. Quite busy on the weekend. A must-go in Orillia

Joy Anderson

Always good service and great food.

Agustina Alcantara

Love to go to Mariposa market because the food is fantastic and the baked goods are just amazing .

Kay Millard

so cute! was suggested to eat here for breakfast from a local.

Ryan Allington

O.M.G!!! This place is absolutely phenomenal! I can't believe and truly regret not visiting Mariposas sooner! I did not realize what a dream this place is and how much they have to offer. They have such a wonderful variety of food, desserts, breads, salads, sandwiches. It's like a little piece of heaven in our own little city. How lucky we are. I only wish I had discovered Mariposas a couple months ago before I realized that I have Celiac Disease ????... However, they do have gluten free options here and brought a little bit of hope and happiness back into my life lol. I also purchased a keto muffin since it also does not have any gluten and it was fabulous. The picture is of a turtles mini cake and Im eating as I type this and it is incredible! The coffee is really good too. Inside of Mariposas is cozy, quiet and perfect for enjoying a coffee and treat or some lunch on your break. A great little gem Orillia has. I definitely highly recommend checking out this bakery/cafe. I actually ordered my daughters birthday cake today for her party in February. They have lots of themes to choose from. Im sure it will be delicious when the time comes aswell. Thanks Mariposas for giving making gluten feee options for people like myself whom cannot consume gluten and have a serious weakness for sweets lol. You have made my life a little more tasty. ????

Shannon D

Such a fun place. Amazing selection of pastries, sandwiches and breads. Best apple fritter I've ever had. The store on the side sells neat things for home and kitchen. If you're in Orillia, definitely worth a stop.

What an amazing store , the baked goods are out of this world . So delicious.

Best spinach quiche and great selection of desserts. Very cool to see how this market has lasted since such a long history

Ashley Leighton

This place is a very nice surprise we found in downtown Orillia. You can find all sorts of baked goods, coffee, handmade sweets, and kitchen gadgets here. It's a market will multiple independent vendors under one roof. Take your time and explore!

Sandra Gagliano

I love this place! Great food and service. Obviously it is takeout only during the province wide lockdown, but the full menu is available.

Lorena Martini

I do miss coming here when I use to work in Orillia

Terrilyn Reed

Bad for the planet. Too much waste. Everything is in unnecessary plastic containers. I choose to support ethical business only

Joshua Doxen

We really enjoyed our time at the Mariposa Market and will definitely return again. We even met one of the workers who is originally from the Brockville area, thank you for a great shopping experience.

Mariposa market as always was crazy accommodating, they missed my wife's order, but made it fresh on the spot and it was ready in 20-25 minutes. Amazing staff and just amazing people! Always the best baked food too!

Sandra Bracken

What a great place. Awesome selection!!! I'll be back again

S Arya

A great breakfast stop in cottage country. Food is delicious and service is excellent. Tons of fresh baked treats as well as shopping for all your cooking and baking needs.

Debbie Carter

Great place to shop and eat, I would have rated it 5 stars but some of there food is not labeled correctly or are very different than what you would expect. Non the less, there are great desert options, good shopping all in all a good place to eat and pass some time while you're visiting beautiful downtown Orillia.

Brian Gillatly

Well do not use the on line order option. 2 hours past the time line and order was not even ready. Good products but don't have an on line option if it's not perfected.

Krista Smith

Too many Great things!

A must visit in the city of Orillia. Sweets and treats galore. Apple Annie's is located downstairs. It has fudge, candy and other cool things. Upstairs has meals, coffees Deserts and a shop. This place is a true staple of the city. You will thank me once you visited. They even have bus tours stop here to visit.

Susan Hutt

Love Mariposa Market. Amazing breads, cakes, donuts, and entrees like chicken pot pies and mac and cheese. Also a great place to have lunch with a lot of wraps and sandwiches to choose from and you can get coffee, tea, cold drinks etc. And there's also gift areas to shop in that offer jewellery, purses, baby gifts, etc. Well worth a visit every time you're in downtown Orillia.

Sean Dove

I come to the Mariposa market as a special occasion stop when I travel down south a few times a year. It's always been a great experience, except for today. I ordered an egg salad sandwich, Buffalo chicken pizza, an iced coffee, and a caramel frap. The caramel frap had to be remade and was still terrible. It melted the ice within seconds and became very watery. My partner got his iced coffee and asked for an extra 2 cream and 2 sugar because its almost black. He had to go back and ask for extra cream again because there was none added. Lastly, the egg salad sandwich was so dry it was almost inedible. What's saddening is that I've had it before and it was great last time. $30.00 sadly spent for a terrible experience.. I'm starting to think they are a "donut only" market..

Mel

Ordered 2 cakes from the market this summer the first one the spelling of my family members name was incorrect the second cake we gave special instructions about a picture we gave them they did not listen the was not done the way we ordered

Joe Marc

Always a great place to visit when passing through! The food, the baked goods, preserves and gifts are all wonderful! We stop here every time we're in Orillia

Kim Mattice

Good food and store, staff needs to be nicer

Barb Fraser

I can not thank you enough for your staff going out of their way to find some more cupcakes in the store

Emily Timbers

Pretty sparse with the downstairs being closed. Could be due to supply chain issues and covid. Still 4 stars as the upstairs wasn't even fully stocked. Overall a really neat place with tons of potential.

Always wonderful to visit, or lunch, or desserts for home.... yummy

Wonderful. An original building with beautiful woodwork, creaking floors, an array of goods to buy, delicious food. A wonderful day spent there. Loved it

Heatherlynn

It's my favorite place to go for so many reasons. We go for breakfast and get baked goods there. Apple Annie's has my fav no sugar chocolates and fudge and the gift stores are great for getting that someone something sweet and different and fun.

Shar Edwards

Some items are a little pricy but everything is amazingly good and always fresh. Go and check them out, you won't be disappointed

Claudia McLean

Such a cute location! Snacks and desserts were so tasty. Will always drive out of my way to come back to this small gem.

Glen Follett

Great pies, sandwiches and more. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I love this place.

satwatchers

Excellent selection of baked goods, reasonably priced, high quality products. If you try one item, you must try the chocolate macaroons - absolutely delicious! Adjacent stores have unique gifts to bring home for friends and family.

Ryan Peden

Nice friendly atmosphere...enjoyed my lunch and some shopping.

Valerie J. Tingey

This place is amazing ...not just for amazing bakery but also there daily food offerings. Great food for your breakfast, lunch, snack or coffee. They also serve David's Tea. Lots of seating room to enjoy your food. Also.. make sure to shop and browse their shops. Has a few bistro sets of you prefer to relax outside.

tennis party

A must for everyone in the area to stop by for thier cafe, bakery, and other goods. The coffee and desserts are amazing. You can't walk out without a buying a few boxes of something. Every thing here is freshly made and worth the price. Great staff friendly and attentive.

Brenda Simec

I love everything about this place the food of course, the atmosphere, the smell, the wonderful staff and there clean washrooms. I’ve never had something from Mariposa that I didn’t enjoy.

Staci Andrews

Food is delicious, 3 stars because of how packed it was with customers, not sure if they are following Covid restrictions

James Hoysa

Very friendly and helpful when ordering over the phone worked within my budget and added decorations for free made my kids birthday really special

Stephanie

Another fabulous birthday cake ????! We got a carrot ???? cake this time. Delicious!!

Sabrina

Very good selection and the baked goods are fresh. Their prepared sandwiches/foods are okay, but none are memorable. Expect large crowds and rushed service. Also, they sell out fairly early in the day (I'm not sure why they don't make more, especially on a long weekend), so aim to arrive early. (The photo is of a gopher tail.)

Kathy Thomson

Best dessert place in Simcoe County. Have the Texas Doughnut, cinnamon buns, or loaf cakes. Homemade and delicious.

Lisa Anthony

Corn bread my my gawd. The stuff is the best. Pies and other desserts are fantastic and there's so much choice that the pickiest of people will find a sweet snack here. We always make a stop here when we drive by or are in Orillia.

S M

Such a cute place! The food and coffee are very good and with nice pricing. I'd just suggest to the management to ban the use of single-use plastic to be more environment friendly.

Nikki Robertson

No matter what you buy, it's all delicious!

Sukayna A.

Their delivery service is excellent. I placed a large order at Christmas during the rush for a Royal Rose gift basket, skor donuts, a few blueberry/strawberry jams and a dozen gluten free cherry shortbread cookies. All arrived quickly and everything was fresh and well packaged. Their delivery driver was courteous and followed contact free covid protocols. Upon unpacking my order I discovered they included a free Christmas gift which was an unexpected nice touch. This was my first order but it certainly will not be my last. I'd rate this business six out of five stars but Google limits my rating to five so I'll just have to settle with that.

Mike Wilson

My getaway spot. Has many gluten free options and their coffee is quality without the high pricetag.

Jacky Bos

The bakery section draws me here and this time I was pleasantly surprised that they also carry a large assortment of gluten-free desserts, cookies and breads as well. Super friendly service is another reason why I keep going back.

Marissa Chase

Lots of great choices for preserves and treats

Sandra Young

A very cool place with lots of neat food options, both deli and specialty. Good for finding gifts for a foodie, or for a delicious lunch in a gorgeous building.

Emma Hillier

I couldn't find any vegan options, so I resorted to vegetable soup for lunch. The soup was good, don't get me wrong. My husband had some sort of pulled pork on a bun thing. He said it was okay. My father got a chicken parm sandwich of sorts. He wasn't impressed by it. It "lacked any sort of flavour", and was barely lukewarm, he said. I love Mariposa Market for the atmosphere and the coffee/tea/curiosity shops. Not too impressed with the food, though. I'll still keep shopping for other items! I'll just go elsewhere for food.

Bradford Smith

This place is huge and has a lot of baked goods! The cakes, cookies, pies, donuts, etc., don’t just look good, but they taste amazing as well. They recently rearranged the front area so now there is more seating for if you want to enjoy a coffee. Highly recommend this spot in Orillia!

Emily D.

We had a Roast beef and a Ham sandwich on croissants, fantastic food with a generous amount of meat and cheese on a crispy croissant. A must visit place in Orillia

Charles Clarke

So many mouthwatering selections of sandwiches, wraps, savoury pies as well decadent cakes, loafs, tarts, pies and breads await you at Mariposa Market. Shop is very busy but staff are very friendly and helpful. An interesting environment for lunch or coffee and a sweet treat. Try the back of the market for another service counter and a more intimate eating area. Highly recommended!

Jennifer Gautreau

Everything is good. Line ups can be a bit long and seating a bit hard to find. Things open up in the summer when their patios open up. I love their orange loaf and apple fritters.

Donna Black

I dislike posting negative reviews but feel the need to say the coffee was tasteless as were the butter tarts. Can’t help but feel like I just threw away $15.00.

Megan

Omg. Skor doughnut. I'm getting so much accomplished this afternoon. No matter how busy it is its worth it.

Kim Sexsmith

Choc chip muffins r back!! They were a casualty of covid but they r back...

Robert Brown

Take out

Philip Levett

I LOVE Mariposa Market! Everything is homemade and you can taste the difference for sure. I'm addicted to the French Turkey Croissant (it has red pepper jelly on it and the cheese croissant is AMAZING)!! Don't buy the cookies or tarts unless you're mentally prepared to eat three at a time! ❤️

Chany Carr

Came here in the summer and tried a few pastries and pies. Pastries like the gopher tail and the texas donut were decadent. Enjoyed the deep dish apple crumble. Delicious!

Tracey Clausi

Fritters were delicious! Coffee was great and service was quick and helpful. Highly recommended

Chris Ballantyne

Tried their Lemon Meringue pie today. Very disappointed. Cost $18 and the topping wasn't even meringue - it was marshmallow fluff.

Samantha Welsh

Mint chocolate loaf cakes are the best. They should make them more!

Jennine Collier

Lovely bakery in the heart of downtown Orillia. Interior is warm and welcoming. It’s hard to not wanna buy everything. The donuts are delicious and the Skor butter tarts are to die for. Lines ups can be long, but the servers are working as fast as they can. Busy atmosphere. Overall, I’ll be back again and again.

Sarah Johnstone

Lunch

Bruce

Excellent as always. Even when getting there an hour before closing.

Albert Druer

This is the place to go for the best pastries, breads, cookies, anything...????. They have an extensive lunch menu with sandwiches, hot meals, soups, and of course some of their lovely breads and pastries

Brian ODonnell

Excellent stop for your sweet tooth cravings. Grabbed a couple of chicken enchiladas, tarts and huge donuts

Jay jay

Always tasty and this time we got salsa, vinaigrette and jam!

Shandell Conboy

Lots of baked goods. Prices are pretty steep in my opinion. So many people in the shop on a summer Sunday that it felt like a tourist attraction.

Dave

Unfortunately not a good experience. We purchased a cake here and it was very dry. The icing was made quite poorly as well. Extremely grainy and dry as well - too sweet. One could expect a cake like this from a discount grocery store. The chocolate shavings on the outside of the cake were also turning white (it was dark chocolate) - a sign that this chocolate was stored improperly or simply turning bad. What really made this quite a disappointing experience was that there were white “fuzzy fibre” elements in the icing. Unfortunately this made us throw out the entire cake as it was throughout the various layers of icing. Over the years this establishment has certainly declined - very disappointed with this experience. Pricing is also concerning for the quality that you receive. Would recommend other establishments in the area. You will avoid disappointment.

Tom Beierl

This is a perfect place to have a coffee with a friend and just enjoy the busy atmosphere. Food is mostly pre made but still good. Cakes are amazing. Especially the Skor bar cake! Highly recommend especially for tourists. Very cool stuff in there as it leads to 2 other stores that sell clothing, novelty items. Great service too,

Andrew West

great bakery but very expensive. the loaf of bread I got was delicious

Jimmy Greenfield

I always love coming to the market. Great food, amazing jams and preserves among other things.

Julann Tonkovic

Used to love Mariposa Market but since they've revamped the store they don't seem to have as many baked goods. I've gone twice for scones and there were none and last week they were all out of Chelsea Buns and upside down cakes. Not the variety of baked goods anymore. Maybe it will be better when the summer crowd start coming to town.

Cory Ostrom

Possibly one of the best things about Orillia. This bakery/cafe is always worth stopping by. Delicious baked goods, great lunch options, and a great environment.

Maureen Crook

Great selection of pies and pastries. Their Pumpkin pie was delicious as was the Georgia Pecan Pie. Oh and on top of that we got the apple fritters which were also top notch!

Jeffery Carlton

Top notch. Far too many good treats, so bad for my backside!!!! Lol. Always worth the trip to Orillia, though ❤️

Kate Sewell

Thank you very much providing me with 25 cupcakes on short notice for my daughters Birthday party at school. I'm sure the kids at LeConnection Francophone at Samuel will be excited about snack time!!

Nikki F

We visit Mariposa Market almost every time we visit Orillia. Sometimes we take a ride just to have their unique baked goods and sit in the upper level seating and enjoy people watching in their market place. It is truly unique. We have not seen a place like this during any of our travels.

Sebastian Mueller

We absolutely love mariposa Market.. the food, drinks atmosphere..

michelle chiaverotti

Always a wonderful place to visit. Expect it to be busy but the food and especially the baked good are worth it.

Carol Kurtin

I have lived in Orillia for the last 22 years. Mariposa Market is still my preferred choice for a wholesome environment surrounded with treats and good people.. from entering as a child, now to be able to walk in with my daughter; this will be a lifelong tradition for my family.

Bruce Abel

A must go if you are in Orillia! The food is good, but the whole environment is what really makes it worth the visit!

Michael Hill

Such a wonderful atmosphere. It is old time quaint with up to date customer service. The food is excellent and fresh. They always have some gluten free options available, and the wheat free bread made on sight is fantastic.

Lisa Laninga-Twohey

Excellent service... Lots of friendly staff willing to help you out... Menu a little confusing to read... Food was very good and took some delicious tarts home

Tracy Parker

A fantastic store to purchase a wide array of homemade baked goods or to enjoy a deicious lunch. Seating is available inside and out. This place is always busy and is a must visit when in Orillia. A variety of great coffee and tea is also available.

Ashley Hallett

Had a nice breakfast. My first visit to the small town and this place is a very popular place in the neighborhood. The service is fast and friendly, the food is fresh and good. The price is a bit high for a small town.

Brendan Park

This place is an Orillia institution. You have to visit if in town. Best cinnamon/sticky buns ever.

Aaron Mora

An amazing hidden cozy nest! Several floors of seating and an Apple strudel to die for! Driving through on our way and stopped for a snack and stretch. Perfect!

M V

I had breakfast at this cafe. The sandwich, salad and bakery are good and fresh. Order and pay first, then you can dine in. Lots of tables on the ground and second floor.

Monica Ma

I do have to say this is thee best market anywhere. Well worth the drive out to orillia. Even tho its a pandemic. They still have smiles on their faces w a great selection of food

reena sahai

Its a very busy market. The food is excellent and the price are reasonable. The building is older and gives you that quaint country feel. The wife and i stopped in here for a soup and sandwich. I had the philly cheese steak and the wife had a turkey and cheese. We shared the soup. Its was a great meal for about 25 bucks. I will go back.

Ellen K

Delicious baked goods. And you can order the best ever gluten free cakes that are to die for!!

Rhonda Wessel

Amazing selection of baked goods, in store cafe, and is attached to a shop for kitchen ware and has great seating in an area that overlooks the store. Really hard not to go there everytime I'm downtown!

Pamela Roy

Beautiful place, lovely atmosphere. The food is always excellent and their sweets/goodies are just as excellent but they are a little expensive

Hillary Handy

Good selection and great food but few too many people even in masks for our comfort. Not packed though so can't overly complain

Rhonda Williams

Mariposa is the brightest gem in a small community of wonderful gems. It is truly rare to come across such a treasure as Mariposa from their baked goods to their jams you will not find such a place full of country history and style in any large city.

Catarina Costa (TheCCosta)

Favourite place for a pastry and coffee in Orillia.

Brandon Porter

Wonderful Food and variety! Great service though often busy and the atmosphere here is very friendly and "small town". Would recommend to everyone!

Nancy Di-Lauro

Good ambiance. Really busy...no seating at lunch time..so pick a less busy time so u can enjoy the experience. Service was quick and friendly

Janice Allan

Love mariposa. Great foods. Fun to shop. Great atmosphere

Whitney Jordan

Lunch

Nancy Bouchey

The baking is outstanding as is the huge selection of food. It can get a little noisy when it is busy but it seems to add to the experience. Try it for a coffee break or a full meal. Their special occasion cakes are delicious.

Ingrid Reicher

The amount of food at this bakery was is so overwhelming, you do not know where to begin! Everything is so delicious, you can't make a wrong choice! The bakery is also so cozy and authentic!

M. Lising

Nice little tourist trap. Nice variety of desserts and preserves. You don't want to miss the skor desserts!

Tom Ehlers

Was recommended to stop here and I'm so glad we did! What a great place! Could have spent the whole day in here. So much to see and shop. Will definitely be back! I hope it never changes!

Glenn Fuglsang

Cute shop with lots of assorted donuts, jams, and other baked goods. Friendly staff and lots of places to checkout which makes it fast too.

Laura Whitlock

The Best bakery I have found in my travels. Highest quality and the Best customer service I have ever experienced. The tastiest cakes you can find in Ontario. Would highly recommend!!! 10/5 stars.

Wayne Cormack

A lovely, welcoming, and warm place to step into [especially] when it’s cold outside. I was here with family, and we tried many different baked goods and loved them ALL. We didn’t try any of the savoury/lunch items, but they looked delicious. I think the prices were good based on both quality and quantity.

88werdna

Always really busy, treats are often way too sugary. Cute atmosphere but their prices are really expensive . A lot of fun at christmas time, glad they kept their charm but the hype is bigger than it should be

Tara Lee

With the back expansion it isn't as crowed anymore for a nice Sunday brunch. The staff is very friendly and accommodating of any special orders.

Brenda Evans

Excellent pastries, good coffee, lovely place. Highly recommend.

Sandra Creighton

Good quality products and good service.

Kevin Jones

Their gopher tails are unmatched! So freaking delicious. Well everything looks good here and such a wide variety of food and drinks, plus the aesthetic and ambiance is on point
