Not only does this place have amazing fresh produce but honestly the best bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert) in town ❤️ Such a treat and the owners are lovely!

Rip off. Overpriced, but then again so is a lot of the produce at St. Lawrence market. High rents, downtown crowd, atmosphere, cachet, etc. But Phil's goes a step beyond. Staff don't seem to know discounts and charge full price. Watch out for the price they put per lb. on the scales. A few dollars ripped here and there adds up.

Amazing produce!! Something you don’t find unfortunately in your average big box store. They also carry what’s in season and stuff I’ve never even seen before. Staff is well knowledgeable and I can see that they put care and pride into their craft. As for the bitter guy below, dude you’re on some next level negativity. It isn’t St. Lawrence Markets fault for increases on rent. And so what if you need to pay a dollar extra or two for produce? They don’t push insane quantities like Loblaws, you ignoramous. If you don’t want to, go to NoFrills and buy the B grade produce.

Also there are security cameras. I will be calling my contact at the market to preserve the video. I was hoping you would come up to me and apologies. But you decided to double down. Now you have my attention. Regarding bringing this to your attention at the time. I'm not about to waste my time and reducing my lovely Saturday morning enjoyment to explain to adults how to raise their children knowing they are only a reflection of their parents. Not happening - I can buy my fruit anywhere LOL and did so last Saturday at a vendor on the first floor who knows me by face. Your ownership has been inside my of deviation. I have been coming to this market since the late 80s living in Markham and raising my family. My wife and I decided to move the the market district. I all that time I have never had the experience that I had. It rarely happens to me but when it does I will call it out. Now that you insist, I'm going to invest the time. Very disappointed with my experience last Saturday. I have been spending around $30 a week at their store for about a year. Last Saturday I picked up my regular items and decided to look for some broccoli and before I could get to the broccoli one of them came out to make sure I was not going to take something. I returned all the items in the basket and walked out. I decided to purchase from them because they have less traffic than 1st floor merchants.

I was originally very excited to go to Phil's place. I had seen it on TikTok, and as a chef, I know the importance of purchasing fresh, quality produce. The produce looked amazing, but the service was terrible. I had found some beautiful looking figs, and I had asked the older woman where they were from. She didn't know. A little bit strange but okay, maybe she just wasn't aware. So I started grabbing a few to find a few ripe ones when she absolutely snapped at me. It would have been one thing if she had asked me not to touch them, or at least talked to me normally. I was really excited finding this place, and planned to be a regular customer, but if this is how Phil's place does business, I won't be returning. And I highly recommend that you don't either. Update: Phil's place has reached out to me again, apologizing for the lack of professionalism and the experience I went through last time. I really did like the ambience and the produce, I was just appalled by the customer service. Will be asking for Rachel specifically next time I go in. Will update once I have the time to visit again.

Phil's Place is a good place to get a range of different fruits and vegetables. This can be your basic apples and oranges to your exotics like morels and sea asparagus. Hidden to the side is a sweet treat in the form of a shaved ice dessert. The shaved ice (bingsu) or "ice fruit salad" is very good and is worth it to stop by.

Nice place located on the lower level of St Lawrence Market. I find its one of the cheaper produce stores compared to other in the building if you are trying to save cash. We have eaten the food and it has a fresh taste so we don't think quality is lost with lower price. We will go here again for our weekly Saturday trips.
