We come here quite often for Asian foods.Living in Nanaimo you are limited to what you can buy. There is a Fairway Market in Nanaimo but it as well stocked as this one in Victoria.

Since they made changes to the salad bar..i do not like the store much anymore..the one whom takin care of that departement ..she is sort of mean and rude..twice i went shopping for fruit salad ..the new one worker at the departement(salad bar)did reorganised the food items differently and last time i went for ..it was no strawberries for my fruit salad..she told me strait up ..it cost to much with a rude tone...in the past(before her to be there working)i always ,at any chances i had ..i was buying a variety of fruits for my fruit salade ,at the salad bar and i was buying for close $10.00 worth of it also i was buying lettuce and stuff for make up a good salad for myself...i am not at all interested anymore to make a stop(detour)for my fruit salad at the departement.

You can find almost all Asian products here. I used to shop from Fairway very often until one time I bought so dried seaweed to make some soup. When I had the soup, I chewed something that was chewy, bitter and weird, turned out that was a piece of used cigarette. That was disgusting and I had to throw away my dinner and of course the seaweed package. I tried to avoid shop there unless I couldn’t find the ingredients I need where else. My point is it’s totally okay to buy groceries there but you’ll need to watch for products that were made in China/PRC.

Fairway Market is likely, the Victoria grocery store chain with the most diverse range of international food products. The store sells the usual choice of fruit and vegetables, with the addition of a much larger than usual, selection of Asian produce. This particular Fairway Market store includes a salad bar and an Asian hot foods bar. The store has a small eating area, comprised of a number of small tables and a row of stools. The meals can also be packed for take out purposes.

I moved to Quadra Village area four and half years ago and have shopped at Fairway pretty well every day since. They have everything I need, including take out supper. Open till 11:00pm and have come to know staff. Very friendly and helpful.

Closest store we'll have on the island that's like T&T Supermarkets in Vancouver. Has an enormous prepared food/deli section, as well as a great selection of ethnic foods. Store is very big and well maintained too. Love shopping at this location.

It's actually a pretty good grocery store. They have the best produce selection in the city, and put on a lot of good promotions. I've scored the craziest deals on steaks there time and time again. So if you want to eat healthy and save money too, I'd say it's a pretty good option. Yes there are better butcher shops at one place, and better deli at another, but for just an all around good grocery store I give it 5 stars. They have a pretty good selection of flowers and plants that are very reasonably priced too.

They have a massive selection but I usually only go for the grocery and canned goods. Their meat quality and their are so-so at best. They are part of a region wide ban on shopping bags. If you need more than one item, plan accordingly or shop in nearby Saanich. The bank card machines at the cash registers have not been replaced in very long time according to staff. As a consequence, cashiers have walk you through holding your card with one finger while keying your code and options with your other hand. Cashiers have said that management will not buck up for new machines, so the bank cards will fail most of the time. Thrifty's is just up the street and they have working Interac devices. If you have a bank card, avoid the Fairways on Quadra.

I witnessed somebody get knocked out and a group of security guards and manager leaving the victim on the ground laying unconscious in the middle of the parking lot and they recovered nothing from his person

Great place to find some unique food items. When I was there, a shopper refused to wear mask, stating she had a medical exemption, the Management handled it very professionally and simply explained they could bring her items outside and deliver them to her. She refused and left the store without her purchases. I appreciate that this store takes the covid policies seriously.

As many of you may know from my reviews of sushi restaurants, I love fish. This is the best store for buying fish I have found so far. Due to Covid restrictions, I have not had nearly the exploration of Victoria I was hoping for. Between store closures, social distancing recommendations, loss of personal transportation, my range has been limited to where I can walk. I discovered this little fish gem shortly after arriving in Victoria. Individual portions of a whole variety of fish can be found at very reasonable and affordable prices. My other high value protein is chicken. This is another item that is very reasonably priced most of the time. Food shopping is a breeze for my individual dietary requirements without breaking my budget. Sale priced items are great here, and I would recommend using the store for immediate fresh fish, fresh chicken options, Asian style cooked duck, and pre-Covid had the BEST salad bar options I have ever seen! I do not recommend this grocer for an average family of 4 as a primary food store. Overall, shopping for dry goods, canned goods, etc, you will get better value for your money at a bigger store that has bigger purchasing base. Isles are narrow, not everyone practices social distancing recommendations or wears masks, but there are actual employees who are engaging, friendly and helpful. Staff is very well trained in positive customer service and traffic flow has been made efficient and effective since Covid.

The fruits nd veggie section is too congested and it must be a big ol' family of Asian s who own Nd work there. Got a complete isle both sides with a bunch of items with not one English or French writing on them. We are a bi-lingual country. English or French is what that means. We're not in Korea or Hong Kong, but some border jumpers family pay a Canadian male to merry ND that's the start of a little colony moving in nd getting money from our government, our Canadians and they can't even speak our language.

Of all the Fairways stores, this one is the best. It is centrally located and has plenty of parking. On the inside, it has everything and more. The kitchen makes up fabulous ready to eat foods. Breakfast is made fresh to order for an inexpensive amount. The salad bar is fresh and well-stocked. Also this shop specializes in Asian products unavailable in other places. The European import selection is pretty good as well.

This is based on many experiences with improper dated items over three years. I live across the street from the Quadra location and unfortunately they have horrid customer service for regular shoppers. Returned bad meat only to find it on the shelf the next day . Went for a different name brand and had the same issue. Confronted a manager and received a very insincere reaction to how it was handled. Bakery department usually has no idea is what in side item when asked. Moldy English muffins, constant expiry date issues, I understand the industry and what people go through but as one who just wants a place to shop, close to home , that has continuity in its services is really not so much to ask .

Frankly I'm amazed people shop here at all, and would only recommend it if you're looking for specific foreign ingredients you couldn't find elsewhere. Good selectoin of Chinese food ingredients. Not soo much Japnese, more so korean. Produce was fairley decent, took a pass on the garlic. Meat section was large and diverse. Fish section looked fresh, lots of west coast offerings. The Asian/Chinese food hot take out showed lots of interest from the appearance of the line. I found the price tags and labeling a bit confusing at times, hard to understand the discount sale pricing.

Food there is quite nice and decent price! If you add three items plus rice it costs 12.99$ which is good price. I also had chicken and macaroni for $7 which is a good price too. Their bubble tea is not good,cheap but I would prefer to go and get a fresh one. Its a good place for your lunch if you are in hurry!

Absolutely the best selection of Asian & Chinese groceries in Victoria, the only place you can buy the 1.14L bottle of Kimlan soy sauce, which I find is the very best in all respects. Kimlan is one brand amongst the 15+ they carry. The great variety of produce is always best quality; it's one of a few meat markets that has chicken backs, pork neck bones, and other soup stock at a good price. There is also an excellent selection of spices, condiments, and other exotic flavourings to complete your culinary cabinet supplies.

When I stayed in Victoria, this was the closest supermarket to me and it was overall just okay. I'm a regular superstore, whole foods and Costco shopper at home and I found this company to be quite a bit more expensive and the produce to be the least fresh that I have seen it anywhere. The cashiers are relatively slow here, only the young ones truly get you through quickly, all the others just sorta plod along. The nice thing about this place is the fresh/pick your own deli department they have and the Chinese take-out portion which is relatively cheap and pretty tasty!

One oblivious plus is their ability to sell hot cooked chinese food at affordable prices. A salad bar pick your selection for the vegetarian and it's sold by weight in per 100 grams. Recently purchased a 4L jug of Sunrise soya milk with a $2 off red label. Returned home to find it rancid & had to return product to get refund. Actually 2nd experience in buying mark down items. Lesson learned cheap yes but quality downgraded is to be expected.

This is the Best Grocery Store in ALL of Victoria! If you go early in the morning, you'll find lots of meat items that were packaged and put on display yesterday, now with orange stickers giving you the items for 5 or 6 dollars off! But you'd better go early or I'll get them!

Fairway Market is a Victoria grocery store staple and this has gotta be the flagship location. Pretty great salad bar plus a good deli and hot food selection including take out Chinese, breakfast and sandwich bar. Grocery wise they have a great selection of international ingredients. Produce selection is pretty diverse as well. Prices are reasonable compared to the other grocery chains. This is my local!

No vegetarian options in their "Asian Kitchen". Even the tofu and vegetables has chicken broth. Also, there are products available at other Fairway Markets that they do not carry, such as Korean popcorn. The burrito bar is good but not consistent, different staff will give you very different sizes. For these reasons, I consider this an average, 3/5, grocery store.

Its really close to where I live so I love how convenient it is to go there. I think they could work a bit harder regarding the freshness of their produce, but for the most part this location is quite enjoyable. Their meats are generally great. Fairway market is my number one go to grocery store. If you are a neighborhood client they often make you feel like family. My only complaint is with using ministry food vouchers meant for use without I.D. . The more inexperienced may turn you away if they have no confidence, or understanding of using these (which in my experience was a little embarrassing and upsetting).

I recently moved here from the mainland and was used to shopping at T&T market. I find fairway very expensive to shop at. I am on a fixed income and when I can get a product for half the price somewhere else. I noticed this right away when I bought some of the hot to go food. fairways gives you half the portion that you would get on the mainland and priced more as well. Personally, I wait until the flyer comes out befor I go there for sales items and they do offer meat/chicken/pork at a reduced rate when it is a day old. Allmost makes me wish there was a T&T Market over here.

I have shopped at this fairways for over 7 years.. I'm Disgusted by the way I was stopped by a plain clothed security guard during the height of the covid 19 pandemic...He detained me based on "an employee thought he saw something in the meat dept." I was made to stand in one spot for over 5 minutes, crowds of customers going back and forth in front of me and I was not allowed to move until he figured out what was going on..Then he told me if I didn't want to stand there I could leave the store without my groceries.. I demanded several times for a reason, and since they didn't have one, they finally let me go....I finished my shopping and didn't go back for a month.. I have never been so publicly humiliated in my life...SHAME on them, and SHAME ON MANAGEMENT FOR NOT RETURNING MY CALL.

I bought a Non Lactose Half and half that was not expired by date and when i went to open it the next morning it was spoiled, naturally i go to the store to let them know that the Half and Half was bad and to get an Exchange, The Chinese lady at Customer service gave me the Dirtiest look as if i was asking her something personal and Told me there was nothing wrong with Half and Half because the bottle said it wasn't expired by date, Maybe before telling a customer they are wrong she should check the product first and then argue if she wants. either way the grocery store has the WORST customer service and maybe should check their Dairy products.

Fairway Market.... When your in a pinch and need to pick something up fast it's a great place. Their fresh food is the best your going to find quickly in Quadra Village. The vegetables and meat selection could definitely use some work but the Asian selection is one of the best I've found in such a close proximity to my house. This is the best of the Fairways' chain. The location, parking avaliability, the food court, the salad bar, the bakery dept., international selections, wide variety of oriental imports and at least 5 - 6 open cashier tills all the time. Great produce though meat and seafood is limited as compared with their competitor stores. Customer service counter always has at least two associates to serve you. Recently I had an unpleasant experience purchasing 2 jugs of mark down soya milk thinking it was a good deal. Within minutes I was outside the parking lot opening the seal to drink but was horrified that the milk had cogulated & foamy. Open 2nd. jug, identical problem I appraoched customer service for refund which they did and than they checked all the markdown jugs same problem on the cooler shelves. Too bad. So lesson learned markdowns may not be a deal after all! Next a major downside is there are no public rest room.

This Fairway Market has an excellent selection of local, and ethnic foods for good prices. I've found some prices to even beat Thrifty's on occasion, especially sale items. It's best to double check for yourself first though. Seeing how the economy's state of flux causes prices to change without much warning, but that's the same for any business; not just grocery stores.

I was surprised to see the poor quality, especially given the better reviews here. I went in to get some grapefruits and to try out the salad bar. The grapefruits were actually rotten!!! And right next to them were nectarines; which were wrinkled and dry! As for the salad bar, I had to buy a container without lettuce, as all of the lettuce options (iceberg, spinach, romaine) were soggy.

A wide range of products in all areas, with good prices. This location has a good deli in it, and most everything you would expect to find in a grocery store. There is a shift towards Asian items, especially in the frozen food section, but I did not see that taking away from other items - it was actually more of an expansion of dishes and ingredients to try. Staff were working to keep the shelves fully stocked, so it seems that fresh items do stay fresh and available. The check outs were moving fairly quickly, I didn't wait long to go though, even with a good sized order.

Great one stop shop for lunch with a salad bar, however due to covid the salad bar has been adjusted to a behind the counter where they make it for you.great vegetable and fruit selection as well. They get really good mandarin oranges here which are surprisingly difficult to get in this city.

My main issue with this store is they refuse to throw away any spoiled product. I have found bread that is green with mold but dated as fresh for another week. Ditto for the biscotti that is stale as of a year ago yet is related and still offered for sale. When I showed a manager the green mouldy buns he shrugged and said "is there anything else you wanted to show me?" As a result I only stop to buy nonperishable products and reserve my main grocery shop for Thrifty's where, although expensive, the food is fresh and safe for consumption.

Something very awkward happened during my last visit just now. The cashier was placing items into the store provided paper bag after each scan however a corner of the paper bag (with things in it) was on the weight scale the whole time. I'm sure she didn't do it on purpose but I had lots of produce items in my order, and the bill was off. I didn't notice this until she was almost done. I was debating if I should point it out but I also didn't want to make issue out of this by letting her weight everything again. So I didn't say anything.

Customer service is inconsistent and unprofessional at times. There are only two people who are worth mentioning when it comes to good service. It is also a reflection of poor management when your store employees do not follow social distancing protocols. It is meaningless to put it bluntly when you have arrows but do not follow them. It is a serious violation. Hope T&T supermarket come to Victoria someday and provide much needed competition.

1. They price their discount foods properly! 99 cents got me a HUGE bag of perfectly good bananas. 2. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of asian foodstuffs [including my beloved instant rose milk tea packets!]. Other reviewers have said it best regarding veg options, general pricing, hot bar, etc. I just wanted to say, when I came in here looking for arugula the day before my birthday, while they were all out [The current global trade wars messing up the supply] the nicest gentleman in the produce department offered to give me free arugula on my birthday [same day it would arrive]! Birthday sucked balls and I never made it out there, but they have some cool cats working there, I appreciated that and consider it a store worth supporting.

A great selection of foods from the Netherlands and the UK, including pickled onions, treacle and a nice assortment of British Sweets. They also carry a nice selection of curry sauces, pastes and powders, a small assortment of various foods from Korea Japan, Indonesia and China. The store also carries an excellent selection of fresh fruitcabd vegetables, a wide assortment of baked goods and a deli counter carrying salads, a wide array of meats and cheeses that can be sliced to your desired thickness as well as an array of prepared goods like sandwiches and assorted fresh salads.

Was confused by the placement of certain items ( e.g. soy/almond/coconut milk is not near the regular milk). Couldn't find razors for shaving, not even with the other toiletries. Their produce and fish were very fresh. Quite happy with the salmon, potatoes, bananas, grapes, and tomatoes we bought. If you're in the area it's a good place to grab groceries, just keep in mind you might not be able to find everything you want.

I was assulted by the Manager (Jeff) when I asked for an advertised price. After assaulting me he then refused to sell me my groceries and banned me for life. The price was posted wrong on some beef jerky. Jeff made a crazy situation out if nothing. Any other store would of just givin the 50¢ off and changed the price instead of assaulting a good customer and losing all there future business. Customer service is apawling! The head manager Graham did nothing to deescalate the situation and is now facing legal problems due to his disregard for his customer's rights and safety.

The worst grocery store in Victoria easily. Produce is disgusting, routinely spoiled and mouldy. I recently saw a mouse scamper across the produce floor in the middle of the day. I just had to throw out a cup of coffee because the coffee creamer I bought yesterday is already rancid.

I love this market. Best Asian food that is always hot and ready at both lunch and dinner. Large selection of premade lunches and dinners, great take and bake pizza and they have samples at the Deli counter almost each time I go. Fair prices, great dessert selection at the bakery. Lots of seafood and I have never waited more than 5 min for the lines. The also have lotto and smokes, bottle return and the freshest selection of fruit and veg. Much better than some of the other chains. I am always told the exact location of the item I'm looking for or walked directly to said item if needed.

But then to be told it's time to go for shoplifting while I'm still in the store?????........... Pretty crazy the approach the young so called store manager for the day...... Mr Cecil the store manager, never approached with good will intent.. He could of kindly said no sampling... If he wanted I could of weighed up the exact same amount of stuff I sampled. Probably maybe be 15 cents??? To get treated like a criminal for no apparent reason..... Filing for a lawsuit tomorrow... All the slave employees are unable to think for themselves so they follow orders blindlessly.. I'm assuming they have never heard of the charter of Rights, I am uncertain how they can justify their actions? Even if you are a sheep slave doesn't mean you are not going to be held accountable for your actions!!
