This Fruit Store is included in the category of Grocery store.
Small town with big prices! Along with the pricing comes a small town selection. Don't get me wrong, two doors down you can buy a $3400. Bottle of Brandy at the Liquor store. If memory serves me well, that price was for a 40oz bottle.
Flashback to the 70s with this retro supermarket!! Staff are great, selection is awesome and prices are reasonable
Phil's makes excellent cakes. Had a chance to taste them twice in the last month and they were great. Watch for their discounts on meat. Great deals.
Quick and easy shopping experience although the prices are a little high but I'm assuming that's because of the area
Good service as usual but they need to enforce need for customers to wear masks. And shouldn't employees wear masks too ?
Really well equipped for a small store..great selection and stock! So glad to have you nearby!
Smallest of the Loblaws chain. Nice regional grocery with lots of choices and international fare. A bit more than the larger stores in major centers. Produce fresh and ample. Small butcher and deli section. Lots of fresh baked goods.
Good place to get your last minute food ideas
Chaotic! Visit was at lunchtime. Parking lot was packed. Cashier lines were 3-4 people deep! Was looking for a small carton of milk. They didn't have any. Didn't end up buying anything.
Very kind staff. Always looking to help you with your shopping. Also, Phil's valu-mart contains many different delicious foods, for a very good reasonable price. The store also is always very nicely cleaned, and the parking is taken care of well.
Prices are higher but quality is good. Clean, well stocked, friendly staff.
Great place to shop for groceries. Very helpful (and nice) staff.
Great small town feel but with excellent selection and variety. Cashiers are the best - Phil is a great local employer.
Great local shopping, very helpful staff.
Nice place, presents folks, best eats. Why not?
Great local grocery store. Everything you need, right in town.
Perfect Place For A Few Things And No Complaints
Love this place friendly and great prices
Groceries / Convenience store - Great stop for fridge fill up at local price when visiting Niagara on the Lake.
My friend Lucas works here, i just want to mess with him. (Ive never been there but seems like a cool place, only 1 star because Lucas)
Decent grocery store. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Not the best selection, but more than enough for most things
Good for a small grocery store, obviously a bit limited though.
Nice little place, really friendly staff, and good variety of products and fresh bread.
Small Supermarket selection at convenience store prices. Sells president choice products. Has a deli and a small selection of prepared meals.
I've been shopping here for the past 13 years. The service is always great!
A very busy store. Poor crowd control around cash out areas. Impossible to properly distance.
the owner, Phil, is always there to great the customers and gives them a pat on the back or a hearty handshake. God bless him everywhere
Small but very effective grocery store. The ONLY place I have been able to find delicious and huge grilling short ribs. Love the short ribs! thanks for having them!
Great customer service, huge parking lot, Fair price, clean and organised. It very convenient to get everything you want.
Clean store with friendly staff.
Beautiful store, clean great selection. Exceptionally friendly staff!!!!
Nice location grocery store in Niagara on the Lake. Super friendly staff and fresh produce.
serving the town of virgil and community of NOTL with only fresh produce and products
Neat, well stocked, fair priced and friendly staff.
Clean, friendly staff, great choices to choose from. Local, easy to park.
Great staff with fair prices and deals
This is a good clean well stocked general grocery store. It may not be filled with many specialty items but I am always happy to go there and I'm never disappointed. Friendly staff and always very helpful as needed. It's not a discount store, but it doesn't profess to be either. I'm proud to stock up their for all of my staple needs! Give it a try ????
Small town feel, friendly staff, perfect location for us
Great supermarket for a small town. But their prices are significantly higher than other grocery store chains and their selection of items is limited due to population and need.
Some very unique finds, try the Winkler farmers sausage from Winnipeg.
I've been shopping at Phils for 17 years. Great experiences every time. If you want a product brought into the store and they can, they will. If you need help with bringing groceries to your car, just ask and they will be glad to help. I've read some sad posts, bagging groceries is still part of their customer service, so if someone is not bagging, ask them to. If they refuse, talk to the cashier supervisor. The store charges for bags like every other store does. The reason stores are charging for bags is to eliminate bags and plastics in the landfill and the ocean. Walmart also charges for bags, It's about time.
I have now done the on-line shopping twice and each time the experience was exceptional. In addition to that, they are now carrying organic chicken! They have a great selection of fresh organic vegetables and fruit. Also the staff are very friendly and efficient. I am very grateful to have such a grocery store.
This is a smaller grocery store with friendly staff , lots of variety , some great sales and less waiting than big box stores.
High prices, low service. Check your products for best before and expiry dates! Cashiers will not help bag unless they absolutely have to which is fine at a No Frills type store but when you are paying premium prices it would be nice to get a modicum of customer service.
Small choices, overpriced, stale grab and goes, almost no fresh seafood. Consider it just an oversized convenience store. Its the last place i would go to if i had no choice.
Ltd selection and somewhat pricey but friendly staff, clean and convenient to shop.
Great locally owned and operated grocery store. I was looking for sugar free ice cream the other day and the staff were extremely helpful in finding some for me. I especially like their roasted chickens.
We found a can of Cloverleaf Oysters dated for expiry a year ago July 2015. I brought them to the Casher and she blamed the stock boys! It was sitting there for over a year? They do not read their earlier complaints? We got home and noticed that two bricks of black diamond cheese went though at $9.95 each instead of $4.79 per brick stated on the colored label over them. My wife was furious and we got in the car and drove back as she was not going to pay $20 for two 400 gram cheeses. When we got back, we checked the shelf and on a small black label below it said $9.95. My wife complained to the Lady Manager that their sale price label was on top of this cheese. She offered no apology and just gave us our money back, and she took a pen in front of us and x'ed the bricks of cheese and said " This goes in the garbage now". We were both shocked that she not only lost a long term customer she removed the income from the store. Its worth the drive to St. Catharine's. We do not need this kind of store here in NOTL..
Very nice store if you are just picking up a few things . Staff is very friendly and helpful
It's ok for the conviemience, expensive for items that I know are cheaper at other grocery stores ! The meat is always fresh but again up there in price. Staff are friendly.
Good selection BUT like most prime grocery stores it's on the expensive side Know your prices
Nice people, a little over priced but it is the only grocery store in the area. Very clean
Satisfied I dont normally drop at this store but I was passing by and I was very satisfied with what I purchased
I stopped here last night out of convenience, and could not believe how inflated the prices are. It would seem that Phil takes advantage of the folks for whom this is the only grocery store in the area, it's shameful! $11.00 for a small package of disposable razors? $7.00 for a container of Hummus? $72.00 for 1 grocery bag of apples, bananas, strawberries, 1 cucumber, carrots and assorted peppers, and a loaf of bread. I will never shop here again!!
Good selection and layout. Always easy to find items. Love the meats and baked goods
Carries some unique items, friendly, helpful staff!
Everyone is nice in the store and every thing is clean as well . fresh wings were nice !
Great value, clean, well organized and staff are very friendly. There is a great selection of fresh bread and baked goods. It carries all the presidents choice products I love.
Great staff and friendly
Great place. The layout is easy to navigate. A great variety of food items. Their prices are very good. You'll always find a friendly staff to help you. The location is good and so easy to find.
Asked Phil what the cheapest flowers were, and he walked me over and game me these and said "have a nice day" and walked to the cashier and said "he can have them for free" so I got them for free, thanks Phil. :)
They sell expired and old product at premium cost. Only shop here when desperate, and even then I feel lucky if I happen upon produce or products that aren't past their prime. Need to ALWAYS cheque expiry dates because much on their shelves is past due. At the frequency of how often this happens, I suspect they buy their product at deep discount due to the closeness of expiry, but then sell it to their customers at premium rates. Even produce is not safe. I bought 3 bags of mini peppers yesterday. Only 4 bags were available for purchase. Of the 3 bought, 2 were inedible because of mold growth. Bought a dip to go along with the peppers and although within the expiration period, the dip was "off" and sour; likely due to improper storage. Service at the deli counter is always horrific with incompetent and rude staff. Honestly, if you can avoid this place I suggest you go ANYWHERE else or risk paying full price for product you can't use. Sad that they are ok with taking advantage of locals because they are the only option around. Even sadder that we continue to give them even a dime of business because we lack nearby options.
Nice store: Neat and clean. Friendly check out staff Good deals Check this local Niagara-on-the-Lake grocery store for yourself????
They are no longer bagging your groceries and leaving the paying customer to fend for ourselves. I know its not really the end of the world but its really sad to see the customer service deteriorate over the years. I come to Niagara on the Lake often and have been coming for over 30 years as we have a summer house in the area. I can't even count how many times I have shopped at Valu-Mart over the years. Both the one on Queen Street which still bags your groceries and the Virgil location which seems to have stopped. Why must all good things eventually come to an end?
They have great ready made food. Their chicken and seasoned potatoe wedges are almost famous
Phil's Valu Mart is outstanding - great selection, friendly staff, and a real community approach to running their business. NOTL is lucky to have them!!!!
A bit pricy but clean and everyone is very friendly!
Not the best place, good for emergency items but check the expiration dates carefully as you do with most food products
Great selection for a small grocery store, but bring lots of money with you.
Really good curbside service. We phoned in for item and the really friendly customer service girl brought it out cheerfully.
