Here we offer you the opinions of people who have information of the products and services of Safeway New Westminster Station (Fruit Store) around New Westminster area (Canada).
As of day the firm receives a rating of 4 out of 5 and this score was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an reviews average is quite high, and it is based on a very high number of reviews, so we can conclude that the assessment is very accurate. If many people have bothered to give their review when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to put evaluations when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Fruit Store is included in the category of Grocery store.
I'm very disappointed with the return policy at this location. I purchased a Visa gift card for a family member for Christmas. After the purchase a recommendation came through for another gift. I tried to return the card and was told it was not returnable. Even though it was hanging in the gift cards section they consider it under different policies... The package does not say final purchase. The receipt does not say final purchase. The teller did not say final purchase. I find this to be completely ridiculous and I am not at all impressed.
Really good grocery store in New Westminster, prices are usually lower for fruits and vegetables compared to big retailers. They also have good variety of international food, and a bit of bakery and dairy, beverages, etc.
Poor selection of food and so expensive
It's a nice store and the staff are really nice there and helpful.too...busy store though as it is at new west station ????
Good place to buy food for your kids, pets, loved ones,or if you have your worms
Very busy place, but validate parking
Closed at 1040pm. Wanted to go home early i guess. ????
Just like doing my groceries in this store. Staffs are helpful and friendly.
Nicely stocked and close to skytrain and buses
The fruits are fresh, localize, and good quality especially watermelon.
Allways, AWESOME !!! Find what im going for, & MORE !!!!!
Good selection, good prices. Handy to skytrain.
This Safeway is a bit smaller than regular ones. However the biggest disadvantage of it is that you should pay for the parking. The parking is $2.5 per hour which with tax added will be more than $3. Some might not mind it, but I dislike paying for parking when I go for grocery shopping. So I will avoid this branch unless I have no other option.
Been my grocery to go place the past few years ever since I moved into the neighborhood. My trusty location to buy beef, pork or chicken. Prefer this more than any save on food or walmart in the area. Every first Tuesday of the month has a client appreciation day with discount or extra air miles Right underneath the skytrain station so it gives me no reason not to get grocery when I am taking the train home.
Small but always has what I need with handy parking
This the best food store in new west staff always ready to help produce fresh excellent meat selection bakery is good love the deli and hot food / sandwich counter oh and their breakfast sandwich way better than Subway or Tim Hortons breakfast sandwich is a meal in itself it’s all in all it’s a great place I’ve been shopping there since it opened and I’ve never had a bad experience It’s great to get off at the station do you shopping you can connect with the bus or take a cab home convenience is awesome if you haven’t tried it you got to
Safeway is just a plain nightmare. I'm not sure how or why this place costs as much as it does, and the lack of Vegan, and whole food options is unreal. It's as if you're shopping at Whole Foods, but it sucks more?
This used to be my go-to grocery store, it is right beside the skytrain has a decent selection and the aisles are a fair size, although not a single person in the store can understand the meaning of an arrow for the directional aisles, not even the staff. However the other week they completely removed the option of plastic bags and replaced them with expensive "reusable bags" that look like they will break after a single use, or paper bags without any handles, also for a charge. The worst part of it was they did not have any sort of transition period where people who were unaware of the policy could be offered a plastic bag for a charge (which they didn't even charge for before the change). I have 6 reusable bags and I used to bring them every time, but once the pandemic set in I was told I wasn't allowed to bring them, so I broke the habit and had not yet reformed it, so it was quite a surprise the other week when I spent half an hour grabbing groceries to find out I couldn't carry them home. Edit: Apparently I had misheard the cashier who I was speaking with at the self-serve checkout, I had thought they said $25 for the reusable bag, but it is actually $0.25, a reasonable price, still wish they tried to communicate when they must have seen me get frustrated.
This is a large Safeway and conveniently located in the New Westminster sky train station building. I love the fact that Safeway utilizes the airmiles reward program. They regularly have fabulous sales and ways to collect a large amount of airmiles if you’re willing to plan your shopping trips around their promotions dates. ***IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL KINDLY “LIKE” IT***
Not the cheapest, but goods deals occasionally.
They have everything you need except for low prices
Great selection of fresh produce and a nice deli section with lots of prepared foods.
Ridiculous that you have to pay to park. I'll stick to the McBride location.
Beautifully laid out store with flowers and balloons next to fresh, shiny produce at the entrance. Prices could be better for items like meat and dairy. Overall, Safeway has come a long way from even higher prices.
+ Good prices + Weekly offers + It's own brand (Compliments) gives us a good cost-benefit alternative
I didn't like the vegetable section but the fast food section is good. The meals are amazing and the portion size is good and one can easily satisfy their hunger in just $5. Starbucks is there if you want to grab a coffee. I recommend this place not for groceries but for fast food and coffee.
Always has good deals and helpful staff
Friendly staff, clean and stocked.
One star deducted for No public toilet
It lost 2 points as I went to visit the bakery no staff there, went to 3 different staff members to ask for someone to go to bakery and each one called over airphone for assistance no one still came ,very disappointed.
Easy-to-access grocery store with much fresh produce, a pharmacy, & whatever else you really need for quality of life.
Convenient. Pricey compared to some other supermarkets.
Not best store layout by far. Staff here seem grumpy in general. However cashier Yvonne D should be working out back away from customers the way she speaks to people is unacceptable. And please someone tell her to wear her mask properly and stop chewing!
There's only one bathroom, so if it breaks down, which seems to happen regularly, you basically have to leave and maybe hope you can go at Tim Hortons. Besides that, it's just fine
Always a fresh variety and easy to locate items. Never too busy.
Many fast food outlets available and restaurants nearby. Dental clinic, Freedom Mobile, Dollar Store, RBC, and Safeway at Station.
Note- During Covid-19, they don't reimburse for e-receipts. Although they claim they reimburse you for the parking, they don't do it if you pay using the HangTag app. They claim they are taking all precautions but are forcing customers to use the physical meter machines instead of more sanitary option of paying on the app/phone. A bit outdated, specially for Covid times and when multiple of Safeway employees in stores are getting covid.
It has varied kind of foods, especially it has a bakery area where sell various kinds of breads and cakes with reasonable price.
It is a good grocery story, in terms of variety and the quality/freshness of the produce. My only concern is the lack of lighting in the store. The over head lighting and merchandising layout create dimly lit areas in parts off the store.
Very convenient to get off the skytrain here to do your shopping and continue on your route. Attached to the skytrain station, no roads to cross... Open air, covered mall attached... Brilliant.
Not very big or busy. In the train station.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Safeway. It's too expensive. However, I went in today to get a cake since it was on my way home, and the lady in the bakery was just so polite- to the point where it made me want to post a review. Keep up the great service :D!!
Friendly staff. Very clean and they have a good selection of food.
Great for pickup on the way home.
The only good staff are the cashiers. The deli and customer service are terrible. I only go because it is the closest place to my house. Update not much has changed. Was just at the deli and was greeted with "yes what do you want?" I was so surprised that I thought I miss heard her and said what. She said the same thing again. Then after taking my order she anded it off to a much nicer lady. I said thank-you for not being rude like the other lady.
I just stopped by here to use the washroom to discover how filthy it is.. Someone should definitely be taking care of it, also as a mother I realized how disgusting the changing station is. Poor mommies that are just grocery shopping and their baby harshly need a diaper change.
The staff took a while to finally fall in line with mask orders but I find this Safeway generally friendly and nice. The new west Skytrain station does make it pretty grody though.
I was shocked at the high prices on everything. Plus you have to pay to take your own groceries home? What we shop there you can't provide a bag? Those paper ones are silly.
One of my top go to Safeways when out and about. Always unique products that I haven't seen at save on or Walmart nearby.
Here's what you do as a poor student: 1. Head to deli section 2. Pick up one them 2-feet-long sandwiches 3. Pay at self-checkout lane 4. Whole trip takes <5min. 5. Go home, cut sandwich into portions 6. Sandwich for DAYS
Always got security keeping me safe when im shopping for my frozen pizzas.
Location is on and off with the demographics but the store appears very well-kept and the cashier's were remarkably friendly and good-spirited. Being a Douglas student I expect to go back often
Great safe way I just wish they get my chocolate torte
This location is setup for Transit users! Perfectly setup for this. Amazing hot hot food section.
Great variety.
Good selection, free parking, directly at the Skytrain and great friendly staff.
Met up with my bro Mike.
Very accessible location, super handy to have. Store is very well staffed and clean. Produce is nice and fresh, quality seems to be very good. Prepared food was always fresh and the shelves are well stocked. Self checkouts can be a little crowded, but it's great for a quick little stop or for full grocery shopping. The Starbucks inside has great seating as well.
Went in for Starbucks and grab some M&Ms before the movie upstairs
Not much for selection. Cashiers ignore you. When you choose self checkout they glitch and you're further ignored. Some guy grabbed a load of stuff and ran through the store and out the door. Was witnessed by at least 3 staff members, all of which turned a blind eye and ignored that as well. Even us paying customers talking about it didn't raise any concern.
There's not much more to say other than the most convenient Safeway for Transit users period.
Found the best ginger bread tea here
Large store good selection conveinent location
The only redeeming factor this store has is the customer service. The produce and meats are constantly spoiled. If you shop here you have to be sure to check every date on every item. Goods from the bakery are often left on the shelf for past a week and today I went to purchase a juice and found a few bottles on the shelf that had a best before date from 2 weeks ago. Some good deals and friendly people but at the end of the day I go to a grocery store to buy food.
This place is more convenient, especially when you are commuting. It gives you flexibility to do your grocery when you need. Great selections and good quality. Bonus I can get more points for my air miles ????
Plenty of good things on sale, and conveniently on my way home.
Open late, great produce and a deli to die for!
Always well stocked and clean
Very rude women at the Deli. All the younger ones are fine but the older ladies have the worst customer service skills. One woman today gave me the wrong labels on my hot food and when I asked her to change them for me she replays, "oh, it's only 50cents more for each".. LOL you think I'm rich? Put the dang proper labels on of what I ordered!!
Nice convenient location, right on the SkyTrain station. A bit on the pricey side. There is a Starbucks inside
A good store with a variety of food and great selection of bakery goods.
Clean and well organized.
Closed at 6 , .ust read hours ahead of time lol
Hope they don't stop doing in-store scratch baking
Easy commuter stop off the skytrain, big, clean, convenient.
Convenient location, same quality and selection as other Safeway locations. Friendly and helpful staff.
They need to clean the shopping baskets they appear to never of been washed
Really like this Safeway, great location, very attentive staff and great customer service.
Nice safeway. Clean. Friendly staff
Not great quality however if you're low at budget I would recommend this to you.
Picked pretty clean of canned/frozen foods
Nice store with in store bakery.
Didn't have a cake carrier.
They should sell halal meat for Muslim
Bought myself a wrap for dinner found a hair in it ????☹
Good place where you can get alot of varieties in food and everything...
Great Location and great store
Fast cash out , clean but a bit $$
Store was decent but Google pay crashed the tills credit card machine!
My favourite shopping place. I just love it
I am giving it a three stars because I was nor angry or upset I am only satisfied with what I bought because went here on March something and I was in the store with my friends and I bought Hot Wheels mainline car(A case) and I was a bit disappointed because the value was $2.49or$2.50.
Safeway is a great choice in supermarkets, they are sometimes a bit more pricey but the quality is much better than Walmart and even Superstore. This location is clean and the staff are pretty good.
This is my favorite grocery store. Clean, organized and easy to find what I need. I take skytrain home from work so this location is super convenient too. Lots of friendly staff - need flowers? William does a great job. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
One of my favorite Safeway locations in town
Always a nice experience at Safeway.
I've never had an issue here. Typical higher-priced Safeway goods with a nice selection of hot foods. Exceedingly convenient for picking things up on the way home during a commute.
Good selection and low meat prices.
All safeway's are only alright. This location is good for convenience and such. Safeways are only ever good for certain sales, certain items, and convenience when other grocery stores aren't.
Always a good spot for munchies after work. And lunch before.
Great place with a variety of foods
DO NOT USE THE BATHROOM HERE. but everything else is okay.
Convenient, nice staff, knowledgeable pharmacists, bakery on site.
Really nice grocery store that's right by the sky train station! I go there a lot for quick milk runs. It has a starbucks, a deli, and hot meal counters!
Hard to find people working the location is really big but the pharmacists are all helpful and you can get in and out pretty fast once you know the layout
Very convenient location. They validate paid parking $2 if you are driving (you will need to call an assistant if you are using the self-checkout). Try to avoid the peak transit times in the evening as checkouts tend to get slammed between 4:30-6:30 with the folks coming back from work.
Small store but a very convient stop while commuting
Great products and customer service is lovely
Was harassed by the LPO at this store followed around the store and while checking out at the till with my purchase the LPO decides to walk through the same checkout lane as me pushing past me and the clerk helping me... the assistant manager when I called to request a reason for this happening to myself tells me she has no idea if the LPO was following me or someone else.. umm there's 15 minutes until you close and maybe 12 customers in your store and when I go from one side to the other and the same guy not doing very good undercover work follows me and comes through the same check out line I know for a fact that he was following me does nothing its shameful for a company not putting paying customer or customers in general first and try to help them... over all worst experience ever in a grocery store in my life... oh might I add I am security and have done LPO ( LOST PREVENTION OFFICER) AND DO BODY GUARD WORK its very insulting to have someone harass and dismiss our provincial health authorities regulation of 6 foot distance between people... and a company like safe way distance regard it aswell... hope they do something about this as it will only get worse for future customers...
Doesnt have as much as the bigger Safeways close by, but it gets the job done. Smallish Asian section, but lots of produce and a well stocked hot bar and the bakery area is nonexistent compared to others, but good for a general shopping experience!
Very convenient location, good selection and reasonable prices
This store has an ideal position: at the exit of the New West subway station. The store occupies the largest area from the first level. On the lower floor is the Shoppers Drug Mart. Safeway is a large store with many departments. Previously, Safeway was my favorite cupcake shop. Now it's just a shop I frequent when I'm around. The prices are, in large part, with those displayed by Save On Food. Discounts sometimes make the difference. Inside there is a Starbucks coffee shop. And I'm a big fan of the coffee they make.
It is in a fabulous location and easily accessible.
The New West location is great ????. Other locations not so good.
What a lovely store. Very well laid out. Great deli with a huge selection of hot foods including Chinese food, fried chicken, mac and cheese. Lots of comfort foods. Service is very attentive. Prices reasonable especially on sale items. Great selection of fresh produce and a large floral department. Very handy for those using SkyTrain, as you do not have to leave the station.
Wicked cool spot to go for the dinner ???? ???? stuff you want on your way home ???? ????
I have highs and lows experiences in this store. But today I had AAKASH as my cashier and it was always a wonderful experience/service whenever he is my cashier. He never rushes me and was very eager to help me bag my groceries everytime. You made my day, AAKASH! We need more people like you in this kind of service industry!
Convenient but pricey.
The worst safe way you can go. Manager who is a middle age white lady is super rude to me. I was waiting in line for purchase a lighter for 10 mins. I friendly asked her that could you give me lighter and I could pay by the self check out. She gave me the response was you had to wait in line.
For 16 times the last 6 months, it overwhelmed the deli department to prepare all components of a 6-item lunch menu by noon each work day. Tragic. They also don`t seem to grasp the concept of keeping all 6 kinds of beverages in the cooler STOCKED. Also tragic, if proven taxing them.
my go to grocery store. conveniently located
way better than the one at surrey central before because security doesn't follow me around at this location and I felt it was pleasant shopping and not weirded out. too bad most safeways are going now..
Great store and well stocked even when other stores had a lot of bare shelves. Great sales too!
Location and store profile combine to offer high quality products and a decent variety, but with higher prices than the most popular competitors ..
Great location at New Westminster skytrain station. Excellent hot Asian food choices. Huge store. Great selection
They have some good deals sometimes. I picked up two boxes of 8 icecream bars for a 1.99 each.
Clean, security is a little over bearing, but all the brown guys are that way
I just went there earlier in customer service to receive my money in western union and I wait for almost have an hour because the lady just went on her lunch break and when the lady arrived said that maximum of $200 only are allowed..In the first place why the guy there did not told me that so that I didnt wait for almost have an hour..Poor Customer service..
Their deli makes great sandwiches
Great store, friendly people.
Very clean and well organised...prices are cheaper than pther grocery stores...
Just an average Safeway but a very convenient place to stop and grab what you need if your entering the station or departing it.
Great place to shop, been going here for years! But boy do I wish they had public washrooms.
this place has everything for me groserys cell phone pizza by the slice beer pub and vape store all within the train station my favorit place to shop daily after work
A safeway is a safeway, this one has hot sauce and cheddar bread sometimes.
Bakery has by far the best desserts ever
Always friendly and helpful staff
All your local amenities available with a quick stop takeaway food bar.
Really quick and convenient and they always have unique items at this location like special icecreams and drinks and snacks
To expensive
Very convenient as it is situated in SkyTrain station. Good selection of vegetables and meat.
They give you free masks if you happened to forget yours.
You guys need to have japanese curry sauce in your store . I searched the asian sauce section and found nothing . Pretty disappointed considering Superstore , Save on, Walmart all have them.
Almost everyday neighbourhood grocery store. Amazing staff and great location. Self Checkout machines are pain
Its a small safeway store, convenient location but the cashiers always seem rushed and drop my fruit on the floor...almost everytime...which makes it inconvenient for me,razors and grooming products are kept under lock and key behind glass and good luck finding someone with a key...another inconvenience, that location gets 2 stars
Very friendly and beautiful cashiers
I live above this Safeway and it's our go-to for everything. We go almost every 2-3 days and we've never once had an issue. Fantastic service and great groceries. Highly recommend
The only place I can find the hot sauce I want
If you absolutely 100% without a doubt have NO other option - it's still mediocre at best.
Pretty much what you would expect from a safeway. It's convenient being inside the same building as the new west SkyTrain station and they have some decent things in their hot food area at a decent price if your there looking for lunch and also have a area with seats so you can eat there if you like
I never knew pre-sliced garlic bread existed until I came here! Mind-blown!
The staff here always goes out of their way to answer questions and assist their customers. The cashiers are friendly and polite. Their pharmacy is staffed by professional, nice customer oriented people always willing to help you or help find out who can help you!
Good location and have a starbucks inside.
Easy convenient spot and usually quick in and out.
High marks for convenience. I had to pick up something in a hurry and I was through the checkout and back on the Skytrain in 5 minutes.
Great supermarket with good prices!
Good location with very friendly staff.
The customer service folks need more training.
One of the nicer Safeway stores in the lower mainland. The store is always in top shape looking cleaner than most other stores it's size. I always try to stop by there as I know they usually have everything I am looking for and their prices are very reasonable too!
I like this place for the convenience of bring in a skytrain access area. Easy to find things which I want when I do grocery.
Great selection. Love there weekly specials
Safeway cakes are so good and the Baker there is sweet and friendly. Will buy a cake the again
Clean and well stocked with friendly, helpful staff. Fast check out!
Quality foods, and good service, one of the first Safeways I've been too that actually opens more tills when it gets busy, so you're not standing in a line forever just to but two things :)
Bathroom looks like a gang war threw up in a drug den.
it's a Safeway, nothing special, great location though, still a little more expensive, it's a meh alright store.
Pretty convenient right out of the skytrain station.
Friendly cashiers who knows to bag meat in a separate bag and not together with other foods! Very good!
It's very convenient shopping
Great staff extremely friendly especially Wendy employee of the year!
Convenient location. It has a self check out. I come here often. The checkouts can get crowded at times but it's a good store with a wide selection. So yeah, easy place to stop on your way to or from home. It's kinda just your typical Safeway. Shame to see them disappearing or being replaced by lesser chains.
Taking the Skytrain? Jump off, pick up a few things, jump back on while the transfer ticket is still valid.
Its more of a small town feel grocery store never overally full, great selections and staff is always nice
Best Safeway best ever and also friendly popular
I have serious concerns about the staff at the customer service desk. The only operations in which they seem to be trained and able to handle are cigarette sales and bottle returns. Ask for anything else, and they are lost. They phone around for help, fumble, and stab at the computer screen with their fingers hoping for a result, and are completely confused when they don't get it. Then they bypass you in favour of dealing with easier customer requests. So you wait until someone else shows up... who ALSO doesn't know what to do. It's laughable. The staff here need to be trained properly or taken off the store floor until they DO know what they are doing. Alternatively, there should ALWAYS be one person present who KNOWS all operations so that when something new comes up, they can train. Worst customer service EVER! I will NOT be going back to this store. Based on this experience, I can only imagine what the cashiers must be like...
It's alright. But I got stopped outside the doors for shoplifting, I gladly let him check my stuff, because he was definitely not taking my Christmas Candy I got as a gift away from me!
Very handly location connected to New Westminster Skytrain station. Reasonable prices if you wait for sale items, which come up often.
Nice place to shop
Alway great deals
Fresh fruits and good take out food.
it may be a cheap grocery store but the customer service here kind of sucks. I ate here too and asked them if they can heat up my food for me or know where I can do it myself.. said I had to pay Extra to heat up my food. when I got my food back it still was very cold, it was barley heated up. not only this, walking in the entrance near the Starbucks inside had an awful smell. The washrooms here are always very dirty..
Decent prices. Good selection. Convenient location
Staff are amazingly friendly given the volume.l of people that go through in any given day. Pharmacy staff are rockstars..5 stars for them
I love the value meal haha
Scanner code of practice didn't not apply to non ticket item will never shop from there especially the head cashier doesn't know anything
love i5
This place is awesome. It's huge and the stores surrounding it with the Skytrain makes this Safeway so awesome.
Great place to shop. Helpful and knowledgeable staff
Go here instead of Save On cuz it's cheaper.
One of the good grocery stores in New West
Safeway is typical. Good sales prices but otherwise a bit expensive. This location is pretty good in terms of the entrance and exit being covered in toxic piegon poop and alot of undesirable ppl but that not Safeway's fault specifically. That is a problem of all stores at New West station
Expensive but convenient because it's right inside the skytrain station.
Nothing special. The usual mix of great staff and total dips. Standard grocery fair
I can't breathe I can't believe this is so good I love it but I'm not going to the next star no you can't make me
They have a great selection, but I find it was over priced compared to other grocery stores.
Probably my favorite Safeway, they have so much selection! I found the only unsweetened coconut yogurt (even choices was a no-go on that) and they have phenomenal ice cream selection. This store his high volume but always clean, very well stocked, and the lines are never too long
Easy access, nice and clean.
Conveniently located at the train station. Pay stations get very busy at pick times.
Nice location of the franchise, with a well-stocked Kombucha shelf (including Rise, if you like that brand) and a huge variety of specialty ice cream (more than 6 Halo-Top flavours). There's also a pretty large produce section, a bakery, a deli and a pharmacy, all the usual stuff.
Wish there was a better option but it is what it is. Since Safeway's purchase quality seems to have gone down. Selection is limited but it is a small store.
I quite enjoyed the experience. But too expensives sometimes.
Good service and great variety ????
Safeway always good. Busy here tho.
Open the door by starbucks! Its unnecessary that it is still closed!
It's a Safeway. Meh produce, meh bakery
Had limited selection of berries but good otherwise
They dropped a lot of prices. Which is lovely.
It is a shame that I have to take time out of my day to make a complaint online, but this is what it has come to. I shop regularly at this store at night and for the most part it is ok. Consistently there is a problem in the Deli. The night time service in this department is well below expectations and has been for a long time. I know this is not just myself who believes this, I live in the community and it is a kind of joke about what time we go to the store because of the poor service in this department. I have complained before about this before but tonight was the breaking point. 9:00 Pm in the store, not very busy and I am the only customer in the Deli and bakery section. There is no one in the bakery but 5 ladies working in the Deli. I asked for some help from one of the ladies and she calls over the intercom for assistance. 5 minutes go by and no one attends, in the meantime all 5 deli worker are standing around talking, they all see me, they all know I am waiting but not one of them says hi or offers to help. What really made me angry was that one of the ladies walked within 2 feet of twice while I was waiting and ignored me completely. 2 of the ladies have been working there a while and both have been reprimanded before by the same manager working tonight. I eventually had to walk up to the customer service and have this person walk back to the bakery to assist me. She was very nice. I have no other issues with he store and find that the cashiers are great and know a few of them from the years I have been shopping there. If it was busy I would understand but the store was slow and there were many employees on. I am a manager of one of the major hotels in New Westminster and understand customer service better than most. I have worked and lived within 4 blocks of the store for 7 years. As a customer service person part of my job is to recommend to my guests a great place for shopping. I will now be recommending Donald's Market at the Quay and Save On a little further down, also I will be adding coping this message to my Google Review where I have been reviewing very successfully the business in the area and my reviews have reached 500,000 hits recently. I am not one to complain but this was just over the top and I will not be treated like this as a customer any more. Your store occupies a prime spot in the retail area of our city, your company one this right on the promise of being a good corporate citizen. Time to do a top down review. On a positive note the Lady that works in the Seafood area, is awesome and one of the nicest people I have ever met. She consistently goes out of her way to help me and everybody else. She is well liked and you could use a little of her magic in the Deli/ bakery are. Good Luck moving forward but it wont be with me. Yours truly
One should try their meal combo for $5
Comfortable, plasent and affordable. Staffs are helpful. I go there many times per week
This is my Safeway. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Great place convenient friendly staff
In a great spot. But never enough cashiers during the after work rush.
It's a super convenient location.
Prices a little high quality is excellent
Convenient to transit. You shop and don't have to carry heavy load very far.Good produce and Bakery items. Good selection. Nice choices for meals to go.
Very bad customer service Didn't enjoy my visit.
Conveniently located at New Westminster SkyTrain Station, it has a great variety of products and the signage are very clear (easy to find whatever you need).
Love this place. It us very convenient as it sits right next to train station where i can quickly get for a shop an drop back right in the train to get home. Their prices are at par with many other groceries but they carry a lot of good and healthy (organic) stuff that some groceries do not. So far most of the veggies are fresh and fruits. I think they can improve on the seafood section as often times they are not looking fresh. Overall service is excellent, place is clean and organized. I would recommend to have more veggie types to select from.
I love this store and the bakery. However there never seems to be enough cashiers.
Great Safeway Store, right at the New West Skytrain Station. Great selection of produce, dairy, meats, bakery, pharmacy and all other groceries...
I love shopping at this location. It's nice and clean and product flows must be fast. Two thumbs up for meat department; Everything looks fresh and staff are very diligent to put on $2 off or $5 off stickers on discolored or stale looking package. Best grocery store in neighborhood.
Got some vanilla Mediterranean yogurt mmm mmm good.
Great midnight munchies place quite and fast cash out
Great grocery store with a wide variety of gourmet items and hard to find food stuffs. A great staff offering seafood and grass fed meats. There a good variety of organic fruits and vegetables but not always the freshest (but I'll admit I'm comparing to local farmer's markets). Best grocery store in New Westminster. The guy who was watching the door early morning was a great help and he really went above and beyond as I was looking for a specific type of sausages.
Prices going up for sure. I found some sales though.
It's not the nearest grocery store near my home but for me t's well worth going there. There is fresh bread available; if you are not careful you may end up with day old bread but they do have fresh bread. Its a huge store so selection is great. If you are looking for salad the selection is way more than salad kits and they have cut vegetables ready to eat or cook. Yes, the store is busy but the selection makes up for it.
Clean, variety of food and vegetables. Really no too cheap but very good cuality of things
Good store
Yesterday I went to the Safeway and I saw what a thought was a manager Verbally abusing an employee in the bakery area.. He was just screaming his head off and was red in the face.. the employee kept saying sorry.. I was shocked! Wow.. won’t be going back there. Disgusting and classless behaviour.
Been shopping here for years and just posted pics now: Cheese with jalapeño focaccia and ultimate brownie triple chocolate cookies attached. I really love this location since it’s open early. I’ve gotten flower arrangements for work and special occasions here. Also convenient to get groceries when done work as it’s on the way home! If I’m travelling for the day, I also pickup some snacks from here! This store is clean, well-stocked, has friendly cashiers and has a Starbucks conveniently inside so if you need a snack or drink, there are tables and chairs available:)
Super convenient location right below the SkyTrain. Lines get long after work, which is expected as a lot of people stop on their ways home.
Can be a little expensive but I always get good friendly service.
Horrible customer service, employees walk away and ignore you when trying to order food from the counter.
One of the few grocery stores I can always count on for fresh produce and great selections. The staff are great, especially the ladies in the deli.
Girl making cake was RUDE As hell, same with the cashier we had. Worst grocery store of all time
Great produce, organic meats and fresh seafood, and a solid, helpful and friendly staff. My favorite local grocery store.
Really nice Safeway despite it being right at a public transit station where you might expect it to be grungy. Staff is super nice and helpful from the dozen or so times I've been there. Security guards also make it feel a bit more safe even though it's a bit of an indicator of some of the clientele. Better than not having anyone there.
If a place closes at 11 I should be able to get in at 10:55 to get some bread. They close the tails at 10:50. And the lady opens and closes the door only for customers exiting AT 10:54 (not exaggerating can check the cameras on oct 16 closing) when I was there. I told her it’s no 11 she said we’re close we’re close. I work in shoppers and if the place closes at 12 staff get paid till 12:15. And we never refuse taking ppl in at 11:55. That’s a very unprofessional system management has. ????????
However, tonight I experienced the worst kind of behavior from a manager. Upon entering the store I noticed that there were no shopping carts - since I come into the shop morning through evening I knew this was not a new problem. I decided to register a formal complaint at the customer service desk. I thought I would be asked to fill in a form; but nothing ever changes if your don't state that there's a problem. The young girl at the counter offered to find me a cart - which was very kind of her - and said that there was a manger in, and would I like to speak with him? I doubted it would do much good, to be honest, but since I was going through the effort, I may as well. This was the night manager Louis. All he had to do was acknowledge the problem, take responsibility for the problem, and assure me that steps were being taken to rectify the problem. However, his attitude was generally one of apathy. He passed the buck saying that the store had been busy and that many of the carts had been stolen, which is certainly true; however, given their location this demonstrates a failure of planning. I asked a variety of questions regarding the issue and what was being done to resolve it - I believe more in response to his apathy than any other motive. His entire demeanor was one of conflict, when I asked him for his name he hesitate to give it, then simply said, "Louis". When I asked him for his whole name - which I will not post here - he instead asked me for mine; which I freely gave in full, then offered to shake his hand. He hesitated again, but briefly shook my hand. I then asked him again what his name was, which was when he finally told me. Since it was obvious I was not going to get anywhere with this gentleman, and that my complaint was likely to be written-off and ignored, I asked him who the main manager of the store was - he said that I could call him tomorrow. I said that I may do that, and could I know the managers name to ask for him. He refused to answer. He just kept repeating that his name was Louis and that I could call in the morning. (It may be worth inserting here that there was no failure of communication, his English was perfect.) When I said that his response was ridiculous - that the manager's name would be readily available online and that either he: 1. Didn't know it, or 2. Was refusing to tell me - which was it. He just once again repeated that I could call the manager in the morning. This is the point at which I imagine many people would have broken down and started calling him names. I do wonder if that was his intent. In that neighbourhood such a conflict would have given him cause to call in the station security or police, making him feel as though he'd gained the upper hand. Luckily, I'm a high school teacher so I come across this behaviour all the time; that is exactly how this man was behaving, like a teenage boy. I told him that his behaviour was designed to escalate conflict rather then deflate it - he simply repeated his catch phrase. At which point I shook my head, said, "Good night, Louis." He said, "Good night." and walked away. That might have been the end of the issue; however, as I was approaching the register I heard another gentleman ask Louis where the carts were - he ignored the question and kept walking. At which point this gentleman asked again - loudly enough to draw the attention of much of the store. At this prompting, Louis called him a "stupid a-hole" and kept walking. The gentleman was demanding to know his name and following him. To avoid an escalation I told him that, "his name is Louis and he is the night manager". One of the clerks tried to apologize for him by saying that it had been a busy day and that many of their carts get stollen. However, this is entirely inappropriate behaviour in anyone who holds a management position
Stocks are organized, and items could be found rather easily. However, as the pandemic still going, no check ups prior entering the supermarket. Good thing that lots of customers are minding their own groceries and wearing a mask.
Organized, lots of selections, daily specials, seating areas, Starbucks inside the store.
The customer service is amazing and the cashier was nice
Conveniently near transit, washroom available
Seems safe both inside and around there compared to surrey or king george station.
Friendly staff and almost well stocked
Easy to find something.
Convenient location for picking up things on the way home
Friendly staff and not super busy even in the evening. It has everything you need but sometimes it can be pricey
They are so good, very concern about safety of the costumers .
I really like this store , the staff are super friendly and helpfull , the product is quality with alot of selection , although It is VERY expensive its so much quicker tha ordering online ????
Everything is nicely stocked!
Some good finds here, but can be a bit overpriced if there is no sale. It’s nice there is the Starbucks, they should open the door on the other side though.
Bit dark. Bit random. Okay for cakes and munchies
Fresh fruits, vegetables and meat and fish!
Great location
normally a quick and great place to shop. however, this one employee who was balding and had gray hair tried to tell me that i wasn’t charged when rbc mobile gave me the notification that i was after my card declined. while there was correction made on rbc mobile’s end, the employee was rude and completely ignored what i was saying about getting charged.
Had everything I needed for workday lunch
The most reliable Safeway location I have had the opportunity to frequent. Great staff, always happy to help. Kudos on keeping your spirits up.
Very convenient to go to since it's by the SkyTrain. Have good deals on hot foods. Must try their paninis. Most cashiers are super friendly and provide excellent customer service.
I always get good deals over hear
The lettuce in my boxed lunch had dirt on it, but I enjoy their fresh produce selections. I wish the quality translated to a higher standard of food handling. The lines are awful after work, so go any other time.
I like shopping there of they have a good customer service
Typical Safeway vibe, nothing amazing but nothing bad either. A little pricey, but watch out for Dollar Daze sales and there's often clearance meat and yoghurt for significant savings.
great vegan options
Great supermarket with friendly staff.
They are well stocked with good service and give reusable bags for 25 cents
What can you say it's Safeway quality goods at mediocre prices always fresh and fine cut meat and produce precooked dinners and plenty of baked goods to fill the box!
Good products, prices are a little bit higher, and really bad customer service!!
Awesome pharmacy, fair-good grocery side of the store.
Awesome......employees are good and kind
Really good location but shame there is so many thieves. Not the stores fault, so still 5 stars
We went at 6 am today only to discover that the hours have changed. The store now opens at 8 am and closed at 8 pm.
Good noodle flavors (needs more vegetarian options)
Safeway is over priced. Not a great place to shop, for a single household BUT it's in a convenient location. Time is worth something.
Great shopping and courteous staff
Bought these grilling potatoes just to find rotten mouldy potatoes inside! For russet potatoes to go this rotten they must of been packaged a very long time ago. I also think it’s ridiculous that you have to pay for parking to go grocery shopping. There should be a 1 hour free parking for Safeway shoppers.
Loop
Needs more cashiers
Prices are on the high side. Service is always great.
Great selection overall albeit very overpriced. Convienent. The bakery has gone to trash since I started coming here 8 months ago. Black Forest strudels without cocoa for example. I have seen numerous "fresh" packages made that day with fly infestations in the packaging. Absolutely disgusting. It has especially gotten worse in the past month.
Usually great but awful poorly trained cashier
Very clean and not super busy. Checkout is always fast. They have a good selection of seafood here as well that is both fresh and frozen. The location is super convenient being right at the skytrain station too.
Please have more than 1 cashier on.
This Safeway is awesome. I finally found a store that doesn’t violate social distancing. The staff are so kind. You really should feel like when you are shopping that the staff are not absent but also not in your way. I usually rank customer experience as #1 and this is pretty close. Nobody wants pushy people breathing down your neck. You want to focus on enjoying yourself and seeing new products. Shopping can be fun. I don’t want to see or hear the staff but I want them to be available and kind. It’s hard to find just regular people without an ulterior motive. We like to visit your store but if the staff are rude or pushy it’s uncomfortable. One caveat I find is that the staff is a bit like the store gets a lot of homeless but I’ve never seen one homeless person there.
Overtressed staff, causes unacceptable service.
Great store in a great area! Busy place!
Close and convenient. Skytrain right above and busses below.
I like their location, selection and the service. They are kind and helpful. I usually go this place to return my containers too. It's fast and easy to do.
Good ????
I always liked Safeways in general in terms of quality of food and varieties. This location is super convenient as it’s on the Skytrain route. Starbucks is good as always and sandwiches are amazing and fresh. Tends to get busy and long lines if you are at a rush hour time but other than that it’s very convenient at every term. I definitely recommend this location over the most others. I will probably go back to it
Pharmacy is awesome. They know their patients
This one is okay. I shop here often due to location. Stuff is generally a bit overpriced compared to some other places I shop. The hours are good.
Safeway, shopper drug, movies, and more right on the skytrain. Absolutely perfect.
it's a Safeway. You can get your stuff and go home.
this location is best for people on public transit. not convenient if you drive and need to park your car. you have to buy a parking pass each time just to pick up groceries. it looks brand new and clean I will say.
Some homeless returning to the neighborhood. A no ending problem.
Pretty gross, stepped in two spills in the same trip. Safeway is usually better, considering their higher prices.
This Safeway has great deals on snacks and chocolate for movie goers, as well as an entire regular selection of groceries for people who live near by.
Close and always in stock with items I want! Never a bad experience here :)
Good location. Clean, friendly. Has a Starbucks as well.
Nice and convenient shopping..pleasant staff
No different of the classic groceries store. Sometimes you can find some good deals. Most of the time the very same you get everywhere.
Clean, good service and I love tuesday ribs!!!!
Service is terrible.
Convenient location and great hours of operation but it gets super busy during the after work rush. There isn't enough space for people to line up and this creates a lot of congestion between the check stands and aisles. I find it hard to find a staff when I have needed help finding something several times they have just pointed and told me the wrong place to look. The starbucks here has amazing service though.
Worst customer service I ever had from hot food counter
I always find what I am looking for. Staff is very friendly
Nice place to do grocery and a clean place to shop
Good place to grab snacks before a movie at landmark.
Not the place to go for a grocery shopping. Don't like entrance exit setup and dim lighting in aisles.
This store has an excellent location. It is in the same building as the New Westminster Skytrain Station. Parking is $3.25 an hour however if you bring your ticket in they will reimburse you. They have a good selection of produce and it is always fresh. They also have a nice bakery and pharmacy. Their meat is very fresh and even though I don't eat seafood, I have heard that the selection is good and fresh. The store can be quite busy so check the graph to find a good time
Solid deals on some stuff, had everything I went in for, has self-checkout
This Safeway in New Westmininister is a large and fun place to go to.
This location still remains open until midnight. And when they are preparing to shut down for the night, the announcement alerts everyone in a very polite tone.
Honestly, a great place perfect location as it's directly located at New West Sky Train Station. Produce is awesome, vegan totally place is very clean which is VERY important for a place that sells purely food. I mean it's probably better than Save on maybe a little more expensive so it's hard to say but I love this location, will always be going back. 5 stars for the cleanliness and the nice ladies working the checkout. Very nice. I bought a nice veggie pack to make stew with turnip and cabbage and carrots etc.. only 6.99 so make sure you get the veggies and fruit if you can in season or buy frozen if you have to much cheaper.
Always get good deals
The staff keep the store very clean and well organized. The pharmacy staff If there is a no name brand or over the counter version of a medication they will sell you that first. And the store staff are very friendly and helpful.
Very handy to buy grocerys
] Did he was the first morning [
Sometimes they are low on stock because of the busy location but I always get everything I need. Friendly staff too!
Great location and lots of import products
Go in first thing in the morning and most times the shelves are empty.
Store was nice and clean and the staff were all amazing, helpful and super polite looking forward to coming back
Attempted to go in today (Jan 1st) But was turned away at the door 10 minutes before they closed (6pm - holiday hours). I am perfectly okay with the store closing early on holidays as everyone deserves time off. However you should let customers in until the store is officially closed. I am unsure of when the door was locked as it was already locked when I got there. Plus since the store was closing very early (for a grocery store) they should be slightly lenient with closing. Was not impressed.
Products tend to be expensive. The cooked food is the best, for grocery I do not recommend to go to Safeway, but if you don't have a car probably this is a place for you.
This Safeway is my family’s favourite Huge place Special Order cakes are good SkyTrain accessibility Staff is nice
Understaffed and lazy people. I always try to buy flower bouquet here as it is closer to where I am. But they have always no people or no one wants to wrap my flowers. And they say it is a hassle. Geez! Talk about customer service!
This place is great if you guys want to buy something quickly, they have a lot of different products and the people is super nice. there prices are a bit high in difference to superstore or walmart
Convenient shopping location, right inside New Westminster station. Open till 11pm.
I bough a charge cable, it didn't work so I took it back and was refunded the money without a hassle.
Nicer than many other safeways in vancouver. They put a lot of effort into their displays around the store. Staff are always friendly and helpful. :)
It's a Safeway. I come here a lot because the location is convenient, being attached to the Skytrain station. I get my prescriptions filled here too. It's a pretty popular location so sometimes they're out of some of the items that are on special and the deli sandwiches, which can be disappointing, but that's really my only complaint. The staff is friendly and I rarely need to wait long for a till.
This Safeway in general has always been very clean and organized, staff kind and courteous and helpful. However as with every Safeway I find the prices to be on the high side. For its location underneath SkyTrain this store is hit a gold mine if not for the prices I would have given it five stars. I'll be back.
I really like this store. There is a good variety and a lot of products with discounts and cheap prices.
Deli is a bit on the pricey side but the food is great quality.
I shop here almost daily , can always find deals on prepackaged mixed fruits , also has a good selection of other times , has an area to sit down and have a meal from the hot food section as well , prices are comparable to almost everywhere else, really busy around 5 pm but that is to be expected as it's in a busy area as well as near transit. Staff have been exceptional in my experience.
Convenient location, not enough staff, always busy, you have to know your way around.
Very good supermarket. The price isnt too good tho.
Not bad prices for pretty high quality goods.
Would give negative 5 stars for horrible customer service. The white guy with glasses is definitely a RACIST. The staff treats you like you are invisible even when you stand in his face saying excuse me and ask for help. They are chatting and laughing and ignore their customers. Made me so awkward. The staff is so rude and that’s the only reason I will never ever buy anything from there again!
Deli women are always rude.
Good selection of fresh veggies
My go-to grocery store for a quick errands before I go home from work. They always have promotions almost everyday of the week. Accessible to transpo and has 2 dollarstore nearby.
Nice Market
Very convenient, accessible, but expensive.
Good selection and great customer service
Nice.clean.pleant.staff.
Never did my wrong. the bathrooms are horrid though.
Yummy cheesecake selection
I particularly like coming to this Safeway for their Deli and Bakery; which is very good when compared to Save On Foods in Royal City Center. (In my personal opinion) If you are ever looking for cinnamon buns, I highly recommend theirs.
My favourite Safeway! Great produce section, deli and flower shop.
Good supermarket, good space and good price
I always buy fresh food from here that I pick up for my lunches before I go to work. I would also like to mention that their deli made sandwiches are way better than going to a subway!
This place is great: Wonderful staff, great value, and terrific service.
Love working and shopping here
Good service, no lines and great products.
very convenient, right next to the sky train station. Everyone is really nice and helpful!
Nice place to stop over and get some grocery and then just carry on home. It is a little pricey on a lot things, if u shop around you find things cheaper .
I love how it is stationed right under the skytrain and within minutes of the bank and other establishments.
Good chicken and good service. Not too busy.
Great selection of products but quite expensive.
Local shopping within walking distance is easily accesable but staff is very ignorant... Only one available checkout and huge line ups for self check outs and don't ask for assistance !
Parking is pay parking which Safeway will pay you back if you buy something, but kind of a pain. Safeway are Safeway what more can one say.
Has lots of choices in deli section and it's right next to skytrain!
Good selection for the most part. Competitive prices. Starbucks if interested.
U can get products at a reasonable price....and ask for value meal...you can get 2 piece of chicken fries and a drink for 5 dollars...
I went in early in the morning , everyone was so polite and saying "good morning". Great way to start my day ! :)
Just terrible customer service (because of manager scheduling nor the employees themselves) They have one poor girl working checkout while a lineup 10 deep has formed, and they have the gall to constantly make announcements that they are closing soon so please bring your items to the front. They were saying 5 minutes to close with 20 minutes left, because of their own incompetence. This place is essentially located so it'll survive, but it doesn't deserve e to.
The service at this location is horrific. There are always very long lines to get to the register, even the self serve area is always packed and the prices in the store are never what show up at the register (essp on sale items). And just try getting assistance. The self serve people are never anywhere to be found or are too busy chatting to notice that the light has been blinking red for the last few minutes. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here.
The largest store, best variety of different types of product, most accessable convinent location all over shadowed by the brightest cheerful crew ever. It was more like we see enjoying a picnick than a chore and only 3 steps and 10 minit stop on my way home. I'll give them all my bussiness I can. They earned and deserve it!!!!!!!
Finally have the bagging issue under control. No more one use plastic bags and lots of bagging selections, for example paper AND reusable bags. I go out of my way to shop there. Grew up eating Safeway food and still healthy and alive. Thanks guys for the great, fresh turkey this past Thanksgiving.
Like shopping at this store
One stop shop. Coffee, shop, pick up flowers, prescription. Very nice Mall.
Great staff. Only problem is the washroom seems to be out of service three quarters of the time.
Great store. Clean and well stocked shelves. Good variety of products. Starbucks inside as well. Hot prepared foods are popular and go quickly. Seafood and meat counters generally close at 7:30 pm I was told. I was able to get some fish at 7:45pm but most was put away for the evening. Opening hours are amazing 0600 until midnight.
Nice large store right on the New West SkyTrain platform. Go in once a month w/ a client, and it never seems overly busy which is nice.
Great produce, great deli counter. Prices are higher than Walmart, of course, but so is the quality!
Both times I used a cashier instead of the self check out it was a subpar experience. The produce section has a wide selection but carries poor quality produce quite often so careful selection is needed
Great younger staff, great service! Close to most of New Westminsters amenities, sky train&Movie theater's&Restrants.
A bit pricy. Very convenient and we'll stocked. Staff that can be depended on
Great location. Friendly check out.
Big line ups nowadays. Customer service has definitely gone down hill since they opened this location. They'll only have a till or 2 open when it's the busiest and they just don't care if there's lots of people in line.
Staff not that friendly
Lots of different stores. Dollar store, safeway, subway, pizza shops, laptop repair shop, a&w shoppers drug mart. Bus loop and skytrain access.
Its super convenient because I can grab groceries after work ,off the skytrain down one level and its right there
Prices are a little high .. but the goods are good and the vegetables and fruits are well presented. Encourages you to buy
Safeway is very expensive. Not a good place to shop.
Super friendly staff in the deli and bakery. Mostly well laid out store.
Wouldn't reccomend. Bought an item from another Safeway, next day came to return it and for some reason my return was denied because I had to take it to the original Safeway. Seems like the manager Eva was just too lazy to process my return and made up some excuse to not do it. Wasn't a nice person to deal with
The washroom is always so nasty. Writing all over the walls, it always has a weird smell, there is always garbage and paper all over the floors. The employees are too lazy to put the paper towel and toilet paper in the dispensers. They are always just sitting on the baby change table which Is always gross. If I had a baby I would rather change them literally anywhere else. There are always boxes on the floor. I stop in there quite often to use the washroom it's not like this is a one day occurance. Half the time it's out of order.
It's a great place to go shopping
The per item bakery goods were infested with fruit flies inside the display drawers. The staff didn't see any problem with it and seemed to find it funny when I said it was disgusting.
Convenient location. I've shopped here every few days for the past 5 yrs, and it's always been good.
Great / convenient location near the skytrain and good selection. Biggest problem is the staff at the meat department. Went down hill drastically a few years ago. Old staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Current staff knows very little about their product, are of no help and could benefit from some training.
Found everything I was looking for and even got deals galore
Safeway is more expensive but you get what you pay for. Shorter lines, less congested and better produce.
Good customer service. Didn't ask for my airmiles number though. Not the only Safeway that conviniently forgets that, but they never miss the white person before or after me. Such a coincidence!! I have tested several cashiers, and they seem to think immigrants don't have an Airmiles card. Very interesting for a social experiment!!!
Well stocked and well maintained with the exception of the washroom which always has a line up or is out of order. It's unreasonable to have nature call while shopping and having to ditch my groceries to go to a different store in the canarvon shopping center..
Always so polite
[Update: Many issues were addressed.] Caution when shopping here. Very hit and miss on products, policies, and service, especially during pandemic. Some not wearing masks or appropriate masks. Oiling displays (refuse to say what using - check for oily veg and fruit) just generally very lackadaisical about care for themselves and others. (There are a few superstars there).
This store is always such a bad experience - the produce is often rotten and the customer service is horrendous! I was served by Timothy at checkout today and I couldn’t believe how The management can allow their staff to treat people so poorly. There weren’t any barriers left to put in front of the food o the conveyor belt. By the time the long line got through And I was near the front I was busy answering an email from work and didn’t notice (and clearly the guy in front of me didn’t either) that he had rung in two of my items to the guy ahead. Shouldn’t of been a big deal but Timothy made it one. He asked who’s the items belonged to, I told him they were mine and he proceeded to berate me in front of everyone for not putting a barrier up. He gave me the cold shoulder while serving me and gave me a dirty look when handing me my bill. Really! All bc I didn’t put a barrier up! I’m so over this place. I keep giving it chances and that was the last one. Never again will I give another penny to this store.
Higher prices than most places.
good store well organized.
My go to place for veggies, cheese and oat milk ❤
Convenient location and have a decent inventory of goods in stock
My grandfather bought blueberries a d got very sick off of them. There bathroom is either dirty or out of order. Hardly any staff on the floor, customer service sucks.
Great deli & bakery. A little pricey.
Standard Safeway. Friendly staff but way too busy.
Lame and impolite staff. Wouldn’t recommend to go there!
Very accessible from the train station.
Great for a quick in and out shopping stop
I love their produce and fruit. Great quality.
Very convenient location at the New Westminster SkyTrain station. Large, open store with good selection. It can get very busy in the late afternoon around 5:00.
Great location for commuters. Sometimes they have good deals for perishables. Just gotta keep an eye out on their flyers. I also like the selection of ice creams produced by local business.
Good deals for meals in deli
It is a Safeway. Same as always. Surprised they open at 6 AM. Works out well for me jumping off the Skytrain and heading to work but need/forgot something...
Love the new layout and the washroom has been cleaner from November 2018 to February 2019 since occasionally visiting. They are now getting in more vegan/dairy free yogurt and even carry Phillips root beer now! Definitely makes it a one stop shop compared to before
The ladies working the sandwich bar are always so nice! And the sandwiches are always so good
The best place to get tofu products at. Prices a bit too high but they do have good sales from time to time. Avocados raised in price, that's why only 4 stars.
This is a great Safeway and location for me is perfect. Very nice store. The deli with take out food is excellent. 5 thumbs up
You need to supply bags. On a few occasions I have gone to Safeway forgetting the no bag deal is there.
Spacious Layout, Superior Clean, easy to find stuff.
Nice place to shop. Clean and has everything u need.. love the fresh meat thay got always...
Usually a little more expensive but can usually find some good deals plus the quality is always better.
Not bad i just hate self checkouts
No service, no training to staff, lack of caring about anything and incorrect information provided by staff
Clean and friendly environment. So convenient, and close from home when I needed something.
It was a nice store to shop in and staff were friendly
Great location In the train station, easy to pop in as out for any last minute items or to grab a latte at the starbucks inside
Conveniently located to the Cinema and other fun places including the Quay. And they do cash back for debit purchases so no need to use the overcharging ATMs if your branch is no where near you.
Not super friendly or helpful staff. Good location to jump off the train and grab bread or milk. Stay away from the meat!!!
Customer service was not good!! She didn't even greet or said thank you!!
Excellent location for Great Service * & lots of great choices in Food etc.
Nasty shrimp that were spoiled and still being sold the next day
Just had a quick visit for a few items. Store was tidy and clean, the staff were friendly.
So I know that it's probably normal in Vancouver to pay for parking but here in New Westminster there are other perfectly good grocery choices that allow you to park for free as you shop in their store.
Pretty busy Safeway by the SkyTrain. Love going there because it serves varieties for hot food including Asian food. The 2 legs chicken is the best deal for $4.99 including a pop. Veggies are fresh and friendly service.
Always have the best variety.
Convenient location. Well organized, tidy and clean. Often busy during rush hours as it's located below skytrain and above the bus exchange.
When I went to this Safeway today, I was discriminated against by a cashier called Les. He spoke terrible languages to me. He questioned me about my debit card is steal someone else's card because I taped my card! He asked to check my ID without the right. What a bad experience, I will never go again. This store's service is rubbish!
great grocery store
Show up early for 50% off items!
Incredibly expensive..poor security and late at night I've witnessed many shoplifting instances that have not been stopped despite my attempts to alert staff during and after each incident
Friendly staff, very busy at certain times.they need more cashiers during these times.
Great selection of food for reasonable price in a very convenient location
I like the location of this safeway. It can be a pricey grocery store but offer good sales like dollar days. Never rely on using the washroom there because it's always order of order and when it's not it's a filthy bathroom.
Very accessible place to get groceries
Good people working hard
Great selection, great service.
Very accessible location. The store is clean and well stocked. The service is good.
Very convenient location for me, just a block from my house but also for anyone passing by as is located within the train station.
Easy to shopping near sky train station.
Need to ramp up on the range of products and optimise the floor usage...1. Too much space for flowers and 2. Same goes for fruits the moment you enter the store... 3. Bakery section can be little more compact... So you can get the required space for much essential items like rice/wheat/pickles ( Indian and Asian food) overall it is definitely a good place.
No public washroom, and I am rating based off that alone. I am angry
Friendly staff and convenient Location
There are great store hours and location to the skytrain and transit. The selection of foods and services is very good for the size and Air Miles which is a bonus. The customer service is excellent after 3 years shopping here never had a grumpy teller.
Meh. It's a Safeway, so expect a Safeway, but with a dose of sketchiness. The staff is nice. No problem with the staff. Otherwise, the usual Safeway products, big store, but chock full of crap I don't buy and chronically understaffed with cashiers. The prices are the highest in New West, but the quality isn't really there. You're paying for heating, lighting and refrigerating a huge store. Buy Low has a much better selection of meats, and lower priced. Their fresh ground beef is lovely looking and cheaper than Safeway's "Market Trim", which is stuff that didn't sell so they ground it up. Safeway's prepack factory-ground beef looks like it's mixed with pink slime. Save-on is pretty close in price generally, but has some better sales and a wider product array even though a smaller store. I prefer Donald's to all of them tbh, but Safeway is last on my list. This Safeway routinely does things like raise the price of something a dollar and then puts it "on sale" the next day at the old price. In recent months they had a big promotion of new lower everyday prices, billed like some big permanent change, but that seems to have completely ended already. Before I gave up on Safeway, I was often a daily shopper for this and that bc convenient, lazy etc, and during that time I noticed that the "new low everyday" "locked in" prices changed from day to day, and quite a lot. What's that about? Kind of sketchy. Speaking of sketchy, one day I noticed that the "Signature" or "Sensation" brand or something like that chicken piece packs had been marked down 30% and were noticeably spoiling. The next day they seemed to have been cherry picked and repackaged in blank in-store wrap -- they don't usually package chicken like this. YUCK. Ppl do notice these things. That was my last day shopping at this Safeway.
Service a bit slow
Excellent customer service skills on behalf of the staff
Did not find staff friendly or helpful
Good place for shopping for your kitchen. Fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, bakery, deli meat, spices, various kitchen essentials, frozen foods etc. Good place for quick bite. Starbucks coffee
It's got everything I usually expect from a Safeway. More specialty items than a box grocery store usually has.
Convenient location and use air miles for groceries. Their bakery needs to be improved— I never buy cakes there. Save On cakes are better. I buy their muffins for my Dad — seems a bit overpriced. I would buy their cakes if it looks good enough to eat. Their deli is always the same, nothing too different.
Small, goods are often expired and still on the shelves, staff members are rude.
Safeway stores are always clean, well organized, and well stocked. A bit on the pricey side.
I bought chessescake from them, 4 thin slices of different kind of cheesecake. Tastes good but the last piece had two pieces of plastic in them!
Like this location but for some reason they do not price match at this one
Almost 2 years into the global pandemic and this store provides a " covid corner" by the Starbucks where customers can sit and pretend to eat or drink without a mask on. Some are drinking a coffee but others are just using the wi fi . This puts the low paid staff at risk as well as the customers shopping in the store. Enforce the mask mandate , this store has customers who have to be told to cover their nose and mouth and to distance. It's not the staff asking them to do this , they are afraid to. Also if your groceries weren't so overpriced you might not need a gate and security dudes to protect them. From accommodating anti-maskers to price gouging , have you seen the prices due to the provincial emergency? Taking advantage of this disaster to raise prices and it isn't necessary. Shame on price gouges like this corporation.
I usually shop here on a daily basis but today’s experience was nothing but disgusting. I was in the flour section and I saw a mouse passing by inside of the store. I didn’t want to make a scene so I just left the store right away.
Excellent, love the polite staff! Makes a person feel kinda special.
Physically attractive, modern space, a bit small. Baked goods and produce are fresh; staff is attentive, second only to Marpole, where customer service is consistently stellar, and in several different languages.
Fresh produce available at a steal price here
You can get good stuff here
Very safe place and prices are great. Very very close to sky train
Its a wonderful place to shop for almost any food or freach produce Very friendly people.
Depressing store with depressingly unhealthy, poisonous food
The store itself is ok for a regular grocery store. However the staff need to be trained better. I had the cashier that was ringing in my items make this statement " does your child sleep? She's got dark circles under her eyes" pointing and referring to my sick lil boy. And in top of that she forgot to give me my change and when I asked for it she proceeded to tell me to search my grocery bags for it and after making me search through the bags minutes later she finally gave me my change. When I mentioned the incident to their customer service they weren't even bothered by the rude service I got and just asked if I received my change.
Convenient for a quick grocery shopping close to the train. Very clean store and very friendly staff
Safeway, always overpriced with walmart quality
Great. I like the cashier ........
They have food, more food and even more food. Rest assured that they have food. They also have canned food. And frozen food. And chips. Who doesn't like chips? Their ready to eat food is not bad. Chinese and perogies, etc. Cannot go wrong with either. Safeway has better bakery goods than Save-On. Giant M&M cookies and stuff. Somewhat more pricey than Superstore or Costco but on the other hand, Superstore and Costco are not a five minute walk away. There's also a Starbucks for all of your coffee needs. There used to also be a freestanding Starbucks in the same mall but it closed. If you are looking for higher end stuff try City Avenue Market at the Quay.
Very good skytrain with a lot of shops and amnesties
Lovely staff, great selection of fresh baked breads, deli meats and prepared foods. Theres also a Starbucks inside
Since I don't drive, I use the Skytrain and transit to get around. For myself I find the Safeway at New Westminster is so very handy for a quick stop to pick up a thing or two or more. And transit is steps away.
Prices are average. But they have dollar days which makes up for other higher prices.
Good place to shop. You can get bit of price break if you have parking ticket.
Go there all time. Right at the skytrain.
Convinient location but the price is higher then other stores
OMG, THE GROCERIES ARE SOO FRICKIN GOOD YOU WONT BELIEVE IT. THE TELLARS HAVE INTERAC AND ITS JUST THE BEST!!!!
Staff had a dead personality, felt like they were there to work and leave right away attitude. Probably will go to a different one that's a bit closer.
Friendly Staff!!! Easy access t New Wesrminster Station.
Relaxed, not crowded at all, but if you are in a hurry, there are only 2 cashiers working.
It was OK but much better before sobeys came into the picture
Worst experience... I waited 25 minutes in bakery and call three times the customer services. No one come .its not first time but this time they wasted my precious time.
Middle sized grocery store. Clean. Decently stocked. Has self checkout.
I had 10 minutes break and I came especially from 22nd street station to get a drink from starbucks as independent starbucks was closed. This girl who was working at starbucks was sitting on the side and said she was on a break and cant make a drink until 22 minutes later and there was noone else working at that time besides her. I have never come across somebody who has been on a break and there hasnt beeen a replacement to fill in for that time. Utterly disappointed and giving a bad name to Starbucks because this wouldnt have happened anywhere else but Safeway Starbucks New westminster station.
Opens early. 6am. Good for quick Lunches
Good selection of food
I like Safeway, but only for sale items, often overpriced produce and higher prices across the board. Always friendly and quality goods.
Love going here. Its small yet has everything i need :)
Great deals. Shelfs well stocked. Staff willing to help locate whatever you need. Butcher shop staff also very kind and willing to help whenever you have any questions. I would really recommend this store
Friendly staff and cheap price
Cozy place to get your grub
Fruits and coconut cookies, Orange juice or chocolate milk Is everything I need in my way to work. Convenient.. .. it makes my day...great! Smiles too.. thanks.
Good friendly service. Also got some good deals
Good for shopping if u want convenience of Skytrain station
Like shopping there, there is variety, & good sales.
This safeway is great. Very big selection of food especially in the vegetable section. I love going there cause the staff is very friendly and helpful
Late last year informed management about finding hair in both a bakery item and fresh turky breast within 1 week of purchasing each, now disgusted to find not 1, but 2 hairs in the marinated chicken breast we purchased yesterday. Threw away and ordered delivery. It was safeway branded so i assume it was packed there. Hair-nets need to be invested in or enforced, or suppliers contacted or something... Am i that unlucky. Strictly save-on-foods for us now.
It is in a convenient location with both parking and SkyTrain and bus access. The staff are helpful, there is a public washroom and Safeway has a good selection of products and services at reasonable prices. It is wheelchair accessible.
Love shopping there very helpful staff
Have been going to this store since the 250 bonus air miles have been offered. Normally I patronize the 6'th ave store. I find the Carnarvon store to be the friendliest lately, maybe because they are new but they all seem to genuinely care about my shopping experience and the store at sixth and eighth has seemed to lose it a bit. Still a Safeway shopper but am really keen on customer care .
Used to shop at Safeway a lot, however the new policy of no bags makes it impossible to just drop by while on transit on the way home from work on a whim. Paper bags with no handle is 15 cents, a cheap flimsy cloth bag that’s objectively worse for the environment and will tear after 2 uses is 25 cents, and there’s no option for plastic bags period. Seems like some beancounter figured they’d draw in hippies by advertising “no bags!” All this does is inconvenience commuters shopping, poor move imo.
I love this particular Safeway, they have a large assortment of store made salads,n chicken n breads and all sorts of stuff to catch a quick meal in a jiffy!!!!great for this stuff but I try not to do my grocery shopping here cause a block away at save on or Walmart I can save a lot of money
Safeway is a safeway. Customer service is good though. Fast.
There’s never any bakery fresh cinnamon buns. Every other Safeway has them. Booooo
How convenient to step Into a Safeway where everyone has a backpack since its located at New West Skytrain Station. Just one thing on my way to the bus turns into 6 things and for this I will cuss.
Clean Safeway. Good seating if you need to eat there.
Clean well layed out and line ups np Selection is good espcially produce Staff leaves something to be desired
Safeway is good store only Skytrain is very crazy noisy by spinding empty train.
Great place to shop the produce department is on top of knowing what goes with what and know their produce very well
This store always had customer service issues. Recently though, during these pandemic days, there was such a good improvement. I noticed that the staff are more relaxed or at least they are trying to do so. I definitely would like to make a comment on one particular woman who works in the meat department. Her name is Ann Marie. She is a bully considering I am a senior citizen and struggled to pick up the meat tray I wanted to buy. She accosted me in a very reproachable manner to tell me "pik only what you need". She did not approached other people (two more people doing the same thing I did, to reach under the top trays of beef to see what I could afford to by. It was very obvious that there was prejudice in her approach as I am very native looking senior, struggling to walk and instead of helping me she was very condescending. Sh continued to say that Asians do that. Now, I don't know if she was referring to people who do the same thing I was doing or if she thought I was Asian and I am not. Needless to say, it was a prejudicial comment made by someone who has no inkling as to the issue of people's behaviors and / or a careless opening of the mouth. Ann Marie is a danger to Safeway. If she does the same thing over and over again, she promotes animosity and endangers the other staff of Safeway due to her hatred. Safeway, as the name stands, must be safe and friendly Ann Marie has not business being employed. Shame on you.
Went to the Sandwich Bar late on Friday night as Robin was closing up and she took the time to make us a delicious sandwich. Thanks for the kind and friendly service!
A very convenient location that is nicely laid out, a solid deli, and helpful staff. The only grievance I have with this location is the setup of their self checkout area. The configuration does not accommodate lineups well and more than a few times I’ve seen arguments break out between customers because people don’t know where the line begins and how to funnel to the correct spot.
No complains... From the entry to exit.
Staffs are kind, parking lots are close.
Nedels on floor of washroom. Kinda threw me off a bit.
Very unprofessional, rude pharmacy staff. Go elsewhere!
It's a supermarket. 'Nuff said. But I must say, as most Safeways go this is definitely one of the the better ones. Excellent floor staff will help you in every way possible (Walmart, take note!). As supermarket's go, this definitely one of the best.
Great service. Found everything needed. .o complaints here.
If there is going to be an outage of something like debit not working.. you need systems in place for such occasion. i waited in line at self checkout only to be told that there isn't Debit card available at that moment.
Security guard was unprofessional, and extremely disrespectful to my wife and 9 year old daughter. On the other hand, the cashier who rang through our groceries was polite, fast and understanding.
Very polite and helpful
Some pretty girls. Usual Safeway
Best place
Probably the best possible location for a grocery store near skytrain station. ????
Have a great selection of everything!!! Staff is pleasant!!!
Terrific staff and wonderful fresh veggies
I love that they have hot n ready food to go for a very affordable price.
Nice, clean and accessible but the transcient population that hover in the Starbucks and front doors make it an uneasy enter/exit
Easy access by public transport available parade supper deli great selection of food products very friendly staff
Free parking with purchase, staff are helpful as long as you're not a dink.
Deceptive packaging and labels. Bought this shrimp platter expecting only shrimp but below it was two layers of imitation crab. No where on the packaging or label does it indicate there's imitation crab inside. False weight and advertising. You cannot see the imitation crab below the top layer of shrimp.
Being out of the way is the only Safeway when clarks moving about
Very good. Good amount of selection. Its location by a SkyTrain station is excellent for commuters.
They cut the liver there like its prime rib now. They didn't used to have asked to have it cut thin like before but it falls on deaf ears. Frequently out of stock in this store as well even before pandemic.
Recently, I visited this Safeway, as I found myself in New Westminster. While I was browsing the aisles, a young lady named Kisha assisted me and prioritized my experience as a customer at this establishment. She was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Even though I was entirely unfamiliar with this location, Kisha continued to provide invaluable service, and I look forward to thanking her on my next visit :)
Good place inside New Westminster Station. Lot of option.
What a bunch of idiots!! Especially at their self checkout, they let everyone go all Willy nilly, anyone can butt in line and if you’re white they’ll let it go!!! Plus they don’t price match like Save-On-Foods and the staff are so unfriendly. And they leave stock out on the floor for the customers to trip on. Horrible place to shop, not to mention all the flies in their bakery, disgusting
I always forget about this place or it's a bit of pain as you have to pay for parking (will reimburse with purchase). They do have good selection of ready cut veggies and when their fruits and vegetables on flyer, definitely worth a trip.
Clean, convenient, and friendly staff.
I all way shop there it is big then the one in Surrey
Plain-clothed security loser (who looks like he should wash his dirty beard) with arm tattoos follows shoppers around.
I thought that Safeway waxawesome. Great service and great food. ????
I love Safeway stores....I always find what I need here
Its decent. Like the other ones
Easy to find my items
Great location and selection of food. The bakery has gone downhill since I started shopping here. I mostly shop here because of convenience as the prices are pretty high on certain items.
Veggies are always very fresh here. I wish though that Safeway would price match
Customer washroom is always conviently "out of order." Most of the staff are unhelpful and unfriendly. There are alot services and amenities that are present in other stores but not available here.
