It's a Safeway and is on par with most Safeways in other towns, better than many in similar sized towns. But the bar is set so high and Nelson that honestly it seems quite lacking in comparison. However I do get the sense that they are understaffed or insufficiently staffed. Go apply somebody make are Safeway great again LOL

Service is good, but prices are still too high. Pricing has slightly improved since the Sobi's change but they are still easily the most expensive of the big 3 chain grocery stores in Nelson. Produce is often mediocre. Shop here as a last resort

Generally a good store. But very disappointing that they opened 15 minutes late this morning. If you open at 7am the. Open at 7am not 7.15 . Contrary to popular belief time does operate the same here as in other places. Come on get professional and open on time!

This review is for Safeway floral, delivery and service. I was originally pleased to find out that Safeway did floral delivery for what seemed like a very reasonable price, and ordered a bouquet for my friend's birthday. Since she lives slightly out of town, I double checked the delivery price with her address input before ordering a few days in advance. On delivery day I checked my voicemail to hear that "the delivery was further than we thought" and therefore I hadn't paid enough for it, so they called the recipient to ask her to pick it up and would throw in a chocolate bar for what I paid for delivery. When I called back my friend had already agreed to pick it up, but I was quite frustrated because first of all, the reason I ordered delivery was to give her a sweet surprise, not add an errand to her day, and secondly, my friend can't even eat chocolate due to an allergy (and I did pay more for delivery than a chocolate bar is worth). They ended up refunding my delivery and the person I talked to blamed it on their online booking for not calculating the shipping correctly. However, basic business courtesy says that if you make a mistake, you still deliver the promised service to the customer, even if it means you drive an extra ten minutes! And then you fix your system so it doesn't happen again. Not impressed. Product and pricing were reasonable.

In there awhile back and noticed 2 older Caucasian guys acting wired. The store Manager in training was distracting the cashier during a transaction and when the customer went to pay the 2 guys stood right behind him while he was entering in his information into the card terminal and you could clearly tell they were not aquatinted. The poor customer didn't see a thing I wanted to approach the customer but didn't want to get harassed. The customer was Not Caucasian.

This is a standard Safeway. I know I often gloss over chain stores because they really strive to present the same experience at any given location. I will say that this particular Safeway is clean, has parking that makes sense for both cars and trucks, and I found the staff very helpful.

Good place to shop for all your grocery and pharmacy needs. Good prices on produce, meat, and dairy. Daily specials on family-size meals. Great all-day deli meal specials for only $5 everyday. The associates are wonderful workers. The management is quite edgy to deal with though. Great place to shop otherwise!

Little concerning recently as I've noticed many individuals not wearing masks while shopping in Safeway. Other local businesses have now implemented mandatory masks. In order for shoppers to make use of their services or retail shopping a mask must be worn...And for those that try to claim they are unable to breathe while wearing a mask, my mother has severe COPD and requires oxygen but she can and does wear a mask. So nice try, just put it on...PLEASE! Come on Safeway, I see your employees are wearing masks but suddenly people entering the store are bypassing the use of the hand sanitizer, walking clearly past the dispenser and there's no employees monitoring anymore either. You're not the only establishment that has become somewhat laxidazical. Now is the time, when not just businesses, but everyone needs to be more diligent. As fall is on our doorstep and people will be confined indoors more it could be a real challenge.

This is probably the best Safeway i've been to. The produce department is second to none. But because Castlegar is closer to me than Nelson I do most of my grocery shopping in Castlegar. The marginal gain in produce quality isn't worth the 15 minutes extra drive.

Worst Safeway deli sandwiches. They upcharge for everything and stop serving eggs after 11 no good vegetarian options. Just double cheese ???? I got a double cheese sandwich for two dollars more than my buddies turkey bacon and his was way thicker. Not using there deli again usually I say Safeway over subway not in Nelson go to subway.

Having worked in retail for 10 years and grocery for 3 (at a store and corporate level) this kind of service is unacceptable. Save On and Kootney Coop are both far more pleasant places to shop. From a service perspective though there are some wonderful cashiers at Safeway.

I never lot I would be scolded for ordering 5 breakfast sandwiches before, I was told to phone ahead 30 min if I'm going to order that many which is fair enough, although the whole order took about 3 minutes and I've ordered that many plenty of times. When I offered for the guy behind me to go since I was in no hurry she said no because she had already started cutting my buns?
