Buyer beware!!! After being a long time customer of OM, I'm finally finished with them! They don't resolve issues in a way that's satisfying to both parties. Once they decide they've done enough (even though they haven't), they'll ignore you completely. Same thing happened to a friend of mine. I'm a small business owner and would never, ever leave a customer unhappy! There's ALWAYS something that can be done if they really cared about individual customers. They obviously don't. They can say it but actions speak louder than words. I see from reading the other reviews that I'm not alone in this (Rose Petro). *** in response to OM's apology. I've already pointed out to you how my last email was completely IGNORED. An ongoing conversation and you just decided to end it. NOT because the situation was resolved. Even after pointing this out, that email still goes unanswered. Customers should never be treated that way. I wasn't asking for a refund. Or a replacement. Although neither were offered and I was told they wouldn't be. I was after information. Only yesterday, I was in contact with a different Canadian company in regards to an item I purchased from them last year. They actually, without me even asking!, gave me the name of their supplier's website. I was able to go and read about their practices and can send them questions directly now. I'm a happy customer. I'll keep supporting them. OM hides behind an unreasonable policy that other companies don't. Aside from that, it's the 'ignoring my last email' that really and truly lost me as your customer.

Very disappointed how my situation with Organic Matters had been handled. I am a baker at the Valley Kitchen and I bake and sell successful oat flour muffins. I ordered one 22lb of oat flour from OM. Despite having many successful muffins from other flour companies like Anita Mills, when I used OM’s oat flour my batch of muffins turned out very crumbly and smelled and tasted BITTER! I contacted them about my issue and they denied that there was anything wrong with the flour... even when I brought the whole bag back they still denied there was anything wrong with it when it was apparent it smelled rancid!!! I have baked with oat flour my whole life, my mother has baked with it for a long time with many different brands of oat flour and NEVER had any issues baking with out flour. Only after telling them my experience with oat flour, they continued to think I was a beginner with the flour. I live in Slocan and called them multiple times and went to the organic matters location 5 times trying to find a great solution for the both of us to be happy... yet they continued to deny fixing the matter. I wanted to make it work and went great lengths to try and OM was NOT willing to work with me. So they have lost a customer... thought I would put this post just to warn other bakers to make sure to check and smell your flour before leaving the premises.

What a great place to buy truly ethical and quality organic products as well as a few interesting miscellaneous items (like capsule fillers for $23...) The products are the best quality I have ever seen and the prices are totally reasonable as is the shipping. (calculated by weight) The selection of goods is impressive. They source from all over the world and many of their products are still sourced in traditional ways and with good manufacturing practices (GMP). The packaging is limited reducing waste. I was a little disappointed in the few styrofoam pieces in the box however in my case I think that might be because I ordered lemon juice and the containers are glass. (they came intact as I paid Canada Post rather than courier to ensure careful handling) Communication with the staff is always pleasant, personal and professional. Speaking to the staff on the phone (Frankie) feels as though you are speaking to a sister. She truly cares about you and your order. She gives the feeling of customer service days gone by. I cannot recommend them enough.

Not impressed with the quality of some of the products I bought. Furthermore, when I inquired about one of the products in my recent order... I received no reply. So, bad customer service as well. I won't be shopping there again.

I ordered organic beans and received product that was without expiry dates, chipped, and discolored. The return was a hassle. The company didn't respond unless prompted, and wanted me to ship back via Canada Post instead of a Fedex pickup, which was the original shipping method. When I mentioned I didn't want to make unnecessary travel to the post office in a pandemic they got passive aggressive. The entire process to get my money back took 3 weeks and I had to involve my credit card company.

So far I have ordered twice from Om Foods. I am very pleased with their product, service and delivery. The product looks and tastes good. Their customer service is attentive and responsive. Delivery is wonderfully prompt and so we can carry on and be nourished with no bump in preparation of meals. The products I order all seem to be good quality, well packed and nicely package. My only complaint it that I emailed multiple times over the past 2months to see when a product would be back in stock, with zero reply. Would just expect a simple email back of atleast acknowledgement as a new regular customer in the future. Regards. Update: Thank you for responding. It's all understandable and I updated my rating.

Finally! Canadian organic foods distributor with great prices! Amazing selection too. We ordered on Thursday night, our purchase was delivered on Monday. Shipping price was very reasonable. The whole process from placing the order online, payment, and delivery was seamless. Very happy with the quality of everything we got. I chose smaller quantities to test the quality and am very pleased. This is now my favourite supplier of organic spices, nuts, teas, and supplements. Beats American prices and the cross border hassles.

I purchased several organic spices and bulk herbs from them including some bulk organic Basil and Oregano. The spices I received were all good and well packaged. But unfortunately, the bulk Basil and Oregano I received was not at all as was pictured on their website. The herbs were full of stock, with many pieces the size of toothpicks and bobby pins, which have to be picked out by hand, as they don't break down in foods. I called and brought this to their attention and was offered a refund for the oregano, which I accepted. I was then told that they often change suppliers, so there is no guarantee when it comes to the quality of the herbs they sell. From what I learned in college, a business is best off finding good suppliers that have good quality control and a consistent product, and then sticking with those suppliers. I am not sure if they have done that yet, and so I have not ordered any more bulk herbs from them.

I absolutely loved this place until recently. I ordered hazelnuts from them in August 2021. A few months later I had a terrible pantry moth infestation. I traced it back to these hazelnuts, which had a cocoon and eggs in the bag, and I found a moth, larvae, and threads in a sealed jar that I had put half of them in. After learning about pantry moths I saw that there was actually alot of visible damage on the nuts, little circular marks from something eating them. I contacted OM about the damage and they didn't even respond. After a nightmare removing everything from my kitchen, going through and washing everything, throwing away tons of food and repackaging the rest, and cleaning cupboards over and over again for two months... When I ordered more food from them this month I discover the new hazelnuts they have sent have the exact same very visible insect damage. They don't care that they are sending people contaminated product. So I went on the website to leave a negative review on the product. Upon doing so my review did not post and over half of the reviews of that product, which had just been there a moment ago, were also removed. They removed any reviews that were not five stars. I used to recommend this place to absolutely everyone. Now I don't know what company I will find to replace them, but I am absolutely disgusted. How can you do business that way???

I would give Organic Matters no stars if I could. Organic Matters is a store at the base of whitewater ski resort. They don't like people using their huge lot to park and carpool in, but don't put up any signage indicating you're not allowed (*correction - they put up signage on cardboard in the window after they tow you) So if you're wanting to grab a snack and carpool up, I would suggest doing it in Nelson or the park and ride and wave to organic matters as you drive by. Not worth the stop. :)

I have made several orders of reishi over the past 3 years and have found the quality to be very good.My wife is Chinese and tell if it is good quality.It makes a very good resishi tea.Also delivery is very fast in Canada.
