Wicked cool little cheese store. Great service. Try the grilled cheese!

John Pickering

Very rude woman who didn’t want my 11 year old to look at the books she had for sale. Not so bad on its own, but limited/average cheese and overpricing make this a bad shop and a place to be avoided.

Traci R

So far we have enjoyed the selection of cheeses. I'd like to see more specialty cheeses, only because we've already had nearly everything the shop sells!

I tried this place for the first time today, and asked the front desk which of their cheeses were made using microbial rennet instead of calf rennet. I expected the person to be knowledgeable about their products. She instead chose to google it in front of me and condescend me by telling me that these cheeses are not cracker barrel from the supermarket. I buy artisanal cheese from fromageries in Toronto, where the staff can tell me exactly which cheeses are vegetarian friendly. I was looking to support a local business today but I guess I'll keep buying from Toronto.

Neat store, amazing variety of cheeses from BC and afar, and excellent grilled cheeses to have hot right there.

I could die happily in this store. The staff is always super friendly, and good at making suggestions without being pushy. Even if I didn't LOVE cheese, I would still love Le Grande Fromage, and if you go to Nelson and don't visit, you are totally missing out.

This place has a really nice selection of cheese including local cheese. The prices are pretty reasonable and the lady who helped me choose my cheese was nice and knowledgeable. My favorite part was the fact that it didn't have that sometimes off-putting smell of a cheese shop, I didn't notice any strong smells.

Chris Macmillan

Lots of cheese

Cheese speaks for itself.

Very nice but learning staff. Helpful in trying to find something local but unfortunately most was from closer to Vancouver than here. Also of course a great selection of European cheeses.

Katie Berry

Lovely little cheese shop -- knowledgeable and attentive staff. And great cheese! :-)

So much friggin CHEESE!!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!!

It's a good little cheese shop, though it's location is a bit of a drawback being tucked out of the way almost in an industrial section of town. It has a great selection of speciality fondue equipment and hardware along with items associated with cheese like pizza pans, flour etc. You ca also find a decent selection of cast iron cookware from Dutch ovens complete with campfire stands to pizza pans. The cheese selection itself almost seems an afterthought compared to the rest of the store and displayed in glass cases somewhat jammed in. You need to be well versed in conversion because everything is sold in 100g increments so it can be difficult for those on a budget or if your metric impaired. The store also stocks all manner of other sundries speciality jams jellies spreads and oils that are often associated with cheese. Overall a good shop albeit a little pretentious and brings to mind the gourmet store off the popular sitcom "Fraiser" and you half expect to see the crane brothers standing at the till. While for the most part you can buy most of the cheeses at the local supermarkets pre wrapped labeled and priced there is a large portion of very special cheeses you won't find elsewhere locally like ones made with Guinness stout or those aged for decades in caves. This shop is mostly for those who have a greater knowledge and desire for speciality cheeses and things that accompany them not so much for those walking in off the street. (Imo)

Really great selection of cheese, from local to European. Will definitely make a point of stopping each time we get to Nelson

Good selection of cheese, staff was helpful but could use training on sanitation and hygiene. Ex. No hand cleansing before handling and preparing cheese and using the register.

Qwerty you I op ??

Amazing service and quality products well worth the price. This place is a must see for any meat, cheese, and jam connoisseur.

A great shop! A lot of variety. We came in asking for a recommendation for our wine and she led us to several delicious options. We ended up with an amazing cave aged swiss gruyere that paired so well with our wine! My fiance said it was "some of the best cheese I've ever ate"
