Excellent and well-curated selection of international and gourmet items. Cheese and meat cooler, complimented by imported dry goods. January 25th each year, a traditional Haggis luncheon is served, complete with piper and neeps and tatties. Staff are very knowledgeable. Yummy lunches daily! Parking may be easier in alley. Right in the middle of the old city quarter and walking distance to many other interesting shops. I always leave with a delightful bag of tasty goodies.

Finally my first visit and blown away by the selection of their specialty foods and cheeses. I decided to treat myself and chose a creamy brie, wine chorizo and absolutely delicious lemon/salt crackers. Looking forward to patio time this sunny weekend!

When there's some food product I can't find in the Parksville/Qualicum area, it's usually to be had at McLean's. The cheeses and meats are phenomenal. I was once looking for squid ink for making a seafood pasta. You can guess where I found it.

We stumbled upon this gem of a store by accident... it was meant to be! Absolutely amazing cheese selection with unique cheese I have not seen at even the top cheese places in Vancouver. They make their own Cider marinated Camembert which is delicious! And the cider is local. A definite English twist but many European goodies, including a selection of balsamic vinegar’s, pastas and everything you would need for a European feast! A great little neighborhood in Nanaimo that everyone should check out! Only about 10-15 from the ferry off of Jingle Pot Road.

I did not plan to come to this specialty store but while walking around Old City Quarter. I saw this shop and the name of the store intrigued me. When I went inside, I was so amazed with the variety of their products (mostly European). Lots of stocking stuffer and giveaway ideas. The place is fully stocked with imported items like cheese, jams, sausages, vinaigrette dressing, other condiments, and sauces. My eyes was so full and in awe of their items. And some of their items were mostly affordable. I will surely be back soon. Thank you for the window shopping experience. And allowing me to take pictures. On my next visit. I will surely buy some of your products.

What a wonderful find! Best deli ever! They had so many items I have never seen...aka pickled walnuts. The girl behind the counter was extremely knowledgeable (and patient) as I sampled several blue cheeses before choosing one. The bulk olives were very fresh and delicious. Wish they had a deli in my neighborhood like that.

I use to love going there for lunch but now the portions are smaller and not nearly as good. I don't know why they changed their sandwiches and salad / bread sizes but they shouldn't have. They should go back to what they were before.
