Bought 3 moss hanging baskets from this location in nanaimo, which I have been buying for over 7 years. The baskets were very dry. Within 24 hours the three baskets and all the flowers have wilted and died. Walter the manager will not stand behind the product they sold me.

I personally have never had a bad experience at this place. Staff have always been helpful and friendly. I have never met any "weird" people there. I have always enjoyed shopping even if its to get one thing. Sometimes its just because I can walk around and enjoy all that this place offers. Shame on you for hiding behind a review to bully, name call and put honest working people down. Working folk that have kept going through all the difficulties that have occurred during this time. Shame on you for complaining. How does anyone know you watered and cared for anything when you got home? How does anyone know you planted these plants in a timely matter. The only place that USED to take everything back was Costco, and this is not it. Be responsible for your actions, stop looking for someone to fix your mistakes.

I was very surprised at how poorly Green Thumb handled my request to exchange a $12 cypress plant that had turned to rust and died. I had recently bought well over $350.00 worth of plants and this little cypress was just one of the purchases. One woman who worked there said that she "would not try to exchange a banana that had turned brown at the grocery store". Hardly the same thing since I had bought three plants and only one died. Anyway, they acted like I was from another planet trying to exchange this poor dead plant, and it was really a bizarre experience. Three other staff came around and one weird girl grabbed the tree out of my hand like a dead chicken and shook it! She also accused me of planting it wrong. I had photos to prove that the other two were okay and thriving. I did not have a receipt (since I did not expect the plant to die) so I just bought another and left. I will never shop at Green Thumb again. Very strange people - pathetic customer service and unusual behaviour. All that for $12. I imagine they treat customers who buy thousands of dollars worth of plants with more respect.

Quite knowledgeable staff and they are very helpful. I've been dealing with them for a long time. My trees, shrubs and fertilizers are all from there.

Very nice variety of plants. However, we asked to put a substantial deposit on an expensive Vine / Tree for 24 hours. They said no and sadly 24 hours later it was gone. It's difficult sometimes as we are persons with a disability. Otherwise good variety!

They have everything you could ever need in a garden store. There is two large green houses, an indoor section with air plants, decor, fruit and vegetable seeds, and grass seeds. And a large outdoor section with a wide variety of fruit trees.

Acre upon acre and greenhouse after greenhouse, this is the place to buy plants. They even supply many other nurseries. The staff are readily available and very knowledgeable. This is a lovely place to stroll or quickly pick up what you need. It's is truly a one stop garden shop,family owned and operated .

Be aware - purchased 3 heather plants labelled $4.99. Cashier said she hadn't had time to put on new price of $6.99. Voiced my concern and was directed to printed "statement" on wall - "we reserve the right.....". Got 1 @ cheaper price; 2 @ new, higher price. So much for customer service!

New to Qualicum Beach in 2014, I was dismayed to find the soil full of rocks and roots. I had to start from scratch to amend the soil and design my garden around full sun almost all day. Rose, Walter and Shannon were extremely helpful finding certain unusual plants for me and would call when they arrived. I wouldn't consider going to another nursery after my wonderful experience at Green Thumb.

Went 3 times in the last year and 3 strikes against them. The customer service is appalling. Tried to give them a chance for being a local shop but never returning. Have never been greeted or asked if needed any assistance or had questions. When we have asked a question they seemed bothered or almost were completely ignored. One time we went in and asked about plants and the employee said they didn't know anything about the plant we were asking about and walked away. The last time we went in we passed a group of staff members who completely ignored us and again when we asked if they had something the one employee had their back to us and slightly turned around and just stood there - had to wait until the other staff member answered. They could learn a lot from the GardenWorks in the same neighbourhood. Just dreadful place.

Went with my kid to buy couple of bags of dirt, kindly asking if someone would help me load to my van. The worker/customer service rep. just told me to come another day without my kid and load up myself. I was speechless. Your rudeness just kicked away a customer, and many more down the road; and I know indeed that you don't care about that eh...

My experience was very similar to Michael Chamberlain's. Over the last 5 weeks I have bought $1850 of trees from the Green Thumb Garden Center - have all the receipts. Of the 8 trees in the picture (I think 5 of the 8 are from Green Thumb) the closest tree on the right hand side died after planting (3 weeks). I know it was from Green Thumb as it still had their plastic identification tag on it. I think I planted a total of 15 trees during this period, and this was the only tree that died - all the rest are either showing new growth or are as vibrant as the day they were planted. I showed the pictures to Green Thumb and the first response was I must have planted it wrong. I said I didn't think so as all the other trees survived and seem to be growing. The second response was is this morning or afternoon sun. I said afternoon sun and was told that was the problem. I have included a picture that faces West showing the mature trees that provide shade to this tree in the afternoon - and there are more trees than those that are showing - the tag reads "afternoon shade" required. This is late May, so not exactly hot weather. I happened to mention that my gardeners planted them, and was told that it is their responsibility and is not covered. I explained that I am in my 70's and was right there when they planted this tree and watched them dig the hole, sift the soil so that all rocks were taken out of it, apply bone meal to the soil, place the tree in the hole and compact the sifted soil around it, and then water the tree. I was told that it is the practice of all nurseries that if a gardener touches it, it voids any warranty as that warranty is just with me, and it becomes their responsibility. The last response was maybe it was lack of water. This is early spring, and you can see from how green the grass is that there does not seem to be a lack of water. I have also had my gardeners water these trees, just to make sure they are kept hydrated. I don't need the money as much as Green Thumb obviously does, so I went down the street to the new garden center and purchased a replacement tree for $150 plus another $150 worth of plants on top of it. I asked at this garden center if my gardeners planted the tree did it make a difference on replacement, and they said as long as it was planted correctly, it did not matter.

Bought a tree voucher off the City of Nanaimo website. Great range on the list to buy from. If you're unsure of what's allowed, just ask a staff member to see the list. They kindly helped us during our visit. Good parking, range and staff.

Went there two days ago and came away a humiliated client, staff very rude and sold me pond plants that from what I saw were on sale due to sun damage were Infact full price and would not reduce them. I will not be going back there. Purchased quite a few plants from them over the years but will not be returning. Think they need a lesson in customer service.

We tried to come to your garden center today ( wearing our masks & gloves) There was a parking coming available right at the front but the nasty lady in the hard hat insisted that we park at the end of the parking lot. She was snippy, rude and I guess saving the spot for her friends. We are both well over 70 and carrying to our car would have been so much easier. We left, went to another garden center,social distanced,bought our plants, trays and other supplies and went home.........we wanted to match the things we bought at your Centre last year but so be it......we live in a condo with a beautiful large common garden and mostly seniors. We will make certain they know about “nasty hard hat lady” . We hear on the news that garden centers are in trouble having to destroy plants and we thought we would brave the elements to get deck plants etc.......we will never return to you garden center as there are more pleasant ones to choose from.......our trays and nes pots are mismatched but we thank nasty hard hat lady for her rude and unprofessional response????????????????????
