I think it's a Jamaican grocery store. Not very big and service is your typical Jamaican attitude (you need us more than we need you). The men behind the meat counter did not seem interested in taking our order and continued their conversation. Crazy! Even some of the customers are rude. Was out in the area and needed goat, so I stopped. Not again.

This is a great place to shop for Caribbean groceries and meats. It’s definitely a one stop shopping location for canned ackees, green bananas, yam, oxtail, goat etc. Childhood treats like grater cake, peanut cake, Yummy bun and banana chips is a must have in my shopping basket. Price points are similar to other West Indian grocers, but the variety and freshness checks the box for me.

Please check your receipts. I was overcharged for $ 13.99 because none of my items were worth that amount. Only saw it when I get home. Not the first time either. I've also heard others complain of their overcharging.

Was it pleasantly pleased to find a fruit that I haven’t eaten in three years at this location. The items that I found here aren’t available in The Midwest. Has a great selection of Caribbean items that most places don’t have. Facility was fully stocked, clean and staff was polite. Will suggest this market to anyone visiting the Toronto area.

Great local store to pick up seasonings buns fresh produce and fresh fish. Guys at the back are really nice and will clean the fish that you pick out and pay by the pound. Got four nice sized Trinidad snapper fish for less than $20. Great selection of spices jerk sauce and Caribbean treats. My go-to place for patties and everything West Indian. Easily accessible with parking lot right in front of the store.

My concern so far has mainly been what they practice at the meat counter and at cash out (cross-contamination is really folks) Now if your gonna be handling different meats at one time shouldn't you change your gloves clean up after or have a removable surface, and clean your counter tops there regularly? At the cash out notice they don't wipe the counter top down after someone comes to cash their meat product. ( I have seen this type of thing elsewhere they are not the only store with a pass from the inspector ) so as long as you implement your own method of staying clean and safe from that type of thing you should be fine. Suggestion for the owner if you won't wish to change this practice just install hand sanitizer or wipes throughout.

You get what you want and get out. The service isn't that friendly and they hardly have anyone around to help you if you need it. There is usually just one cachier on duty. I feel like they could put more work into making the place look better. It's a Caribbean grocery store and I have yet to see a person of the Caribbean working there. Kinda weird. Anyway, I just take it for what it is. I don't expect help or kindness. I just do what I gotta do. Decent prices though, so I always go back.

Great service, has a wide variety of produce, meats and products. Prices on many items are good, along with sales of the week on specific meats like goat or oxtail. The location is accessible from the main road with lots of parking. This location is often very busy and some items sell very quickly like fresh snappers. I like purchasing my favorite items here - Montego Bay hot ???? curry, hot coco tea bars, Grace products and much more. Drop some time, there is something here for everyone.

Always dirty. We purchase canned goods here... nothing else. Alway ALWAYS check best before dates as a LOT of things are past it. Moldy bread on the shelves-which we pointed out are met with an indifferent shrug. Be prepared to be followed around the store by the lady proprietor. .. like common thieves. Did I mention the flies? No? Flies. Everywhere. On everything. Not sure how they pass food safety inspections with the flies and open raw meat in buckets. Just gross.

I have been coming to the Danforth Food Market for years, since I was a child. They have some of the best selection in Caribbean foods and products that you won't find elsewhere. Very big, spacious supermarket as well. I have never had a bad experience here.

The fish department is terrible. One of the guys working there is very lazy and lies, claiming they don't have fish in stock when the do. They close at 9, yet if you go at 8 he would say it's late you should come earlier I am tired, even though he is sitting there having nothing to do. I wish I knew his name so I could post it here, there are usually only two of them there. He needs to be replaced.
