REVIEWS OF Onkar Foods & Spices IN Kitchener

Mrityunjay Bhadauria

As a grocery store - its alright with great options of Indian items. As a restaurant this place is famous for their amazing samosa - must try. However, if you want to order other items on their restaurant menu be prepared to wait for 15-20min as they are usually super busy with limited staff. Service can be definitely improved given the demand to make that part of experience perfect like how their food tastes.

Gaurav Sahu

The go-to place Indian Store (or one could find most kind of spices there.) Super nice people. A couple of things to note: 1. You get a student discount with transactions > 20$ 2. For purchases < 5$ , pay with cash as they charge 25 and 50 cents for debit and credit cards respectively

Amit

Takes forever to prepare your oder and customer service at their worst.

Fathi Omar

Best place to buy Indian food and cheap prices

Shirish Kota

Best samosa you can get in Kitchener Waterloo area. Also the sweets are very good.

The staff is very friendly at this location!!! And my wife love the Papikra ( I think it spelt right) lol! And prices here seem very responsible! The store is clean! And you are always greeted with a friendly smile when entering the store and one when leaving! Very impressed with this store!!! And hot food always seem fresh as well!

nipun beri

Good samosas and chole bhature in Kitchener region. We didn’t like the Jalebi’s here, but then our bar for jalebi’s from back home is set high. There’s a lot better other Indian grocery stores in Kitchener now.

Dushyant Puri

Wide selection of East Indian Food. Sweets are decent but, don't always seem fresh.

Shubham Kalamkar

Worst customer service! Poor staff. Unprofessional af with 0 service standards. Thats the problem with the Indians that when business run busy they feel top of the world and degrade their service

Asiya Jabeen

Most Indian stuffs available but costly.

Samita Kashyap

Little expensive, but customer service is good.

Pranjal Gupta

Pretty good samosas, pakoras and other Indian delicacies in this area.

Sarah Stanley

I haven't shopped around this store, so this rating is based purely on the fresh samosas - they're amazing! I'm not even a big fan of samosas, but these are great. Delicious veggie filling with the right level of spiciness.????

Hrishikesh J C

It's a decent store. Can be slightly better, but it's not too bad.

Robin Singh

There is one girl, she work in the back counter. She not treat equally.I went there for samosas.I wait there 10mints in line. One guy already took his order and she give him rest of samosa when he order again without stand in line

Sumair Ali

Prices are little higher than others asians stores

bharat bhushan Angra

Good Indian stuff there, specially samosas.... I found always fresh there

Harpreet Singh

The food is good but the only issue I have to face every time is the waiting time they give us but take more than that .

Afg Muslimah

Has everything I need and most of the workers are friendly. I feel some stuff is overpriced though but there is good deals too.

Manav Koroth

It's fine.. not that greatly organized but good staff and good hot Samosas and Jalabis...

Bhushan Sonaje

This is Indian Groceries store but this place is more popular because of their Samosas, they taste good but one thing is annoying they also charge for chutney. I haven't seen charge for chutney anywhere, you should charge customers extra if they ask you extra chutney but for a single piece also you are charging customers it's really not cool. Your Samosas taste saved you bcz of this, it felt like McDonald's started charging for ketchup with fries and burgers.

Tanujit Laha

You will get all kind of Indian groceries and vegetables and sweets but price is too high......

Mian Asif Mahmood

Very cooperative staff, They helped me finding item which I could not find myself. Soft spoken the rates are reasonable.

Sriram S

Something is better than nothing. They have fresh foods, sweets, vegetables and spices. Just something closer home where I can have a quick run and grab something. That's about it. 1. They would do well to improve the list of items available. One or two items are always missing. 2. They need to organize things better. I spend more time searching items than actually buying. 3. They should NOT assume everyone knows Hindi. Next time I go, I may have to apply make-up to look non-Indian so that they don't assume I know Hindi. God, I am tired of telling it every time. Grow up!

Rafa G

Hands down to the best samosas in KWC. It’s always hot and fresh

Amy Olatan

Their samosas are huge for a pretty good deal! We had to wait a while for a fresh batch but its worth it! Theres usually lot of people waiting for them. Unfortunately they only sell vegetarian samosas but they were still great in my opinion.

Living Optimistically and happily Rahul

People are very good, they provide good service. I ordered jalebi(Indian dessert ) which was delicious ????????????

Carrie M

Picked up 6 samosas for $5 tonight and they are fabulous. Both staff that I spoke with today were very efficient and polite. The store was clean and organized well.

Roshan Rawal

Good Samosa, other food items are average

Anu Sabharwal

Good place to fetch each and every ingredient required for lndian cooking along with ready made Indian sweets and popular snacks. But needs bit of organising and tidying.

Ankit K

Kewal Singh

Imran M. Ismail

Siddhesh Joshi

This place serves great samosa and chutney. I feel this is the only unique thing they serve as compare to other Indian grocery stores.

Gary Walsh

A great store if you are interested in Indian food. A good selection of ready to eat packaged food that I like to buy. A branch of a chain with several stores in the region.

Rohini Wittke

Good. Lots of variety and now we can order snacks tHat are prepared on site and are fresh and delicious.

Local Dairy

Good shopping Indian etnic foods

Bhavna Bharati

It is an Indian shop. U can get everything you want like groceries and they also have a small corner where they sell samosa , chat , sweets etc. All are very good.

MEGHA JAMES

It's a good indian store. You will find groceries and vegetables that most of the Indians would love to have. Do visit the store.

Siddhi Sawant

A perfect place for an Indian to find a native and traditional food items on this foreign land. They have everything from coconuts, fresh coriander-curry leaves-pudina , indian spices, snacks, utensils, puja stuff to your favourite ready hot food items. The hot samosa are really rare, tasty and make your taste buds feel good. They play indian hindi music in the store which adds another charm to your shopping. You will find certain items are overly priced compared to Walmart and Canadian superstore. But if you are looking for a typical indian food items, this is a must visit.

Subject : still number one Indian groceries in Kitchener area Pros : 1. Location 2. Nice parking 3. Almost all Indian items 4. Samosa and food ( which is really good ) 5. Ranges from all over India products. Cons : 1. Vegetables sometimes not fresh. But it is understandable. 2. South Indian products in shelf is less Overall : 1. I truly appreciate these guys for running this shop as it really serves Indian community 2. But still there is scope for improvement such as products, billing ( a primitive cash box billing is still running with all products as “misc” ) 3. Online order and delivering 4. No dosa idly batters ( Chennai caterers ) Ps : I prefer Uthayam in missisauga. But one cannot drive all the days Additional point ; these guys have a attached Indian fancy and dress shop which has some dresses and bangles. I think they do stitch Indian dresses here. I have attached more photos ( picture is equal to 1000 words. Huh ) Note : I wanted to give 4 star only. But for the efforts they take in this area to provide items, I am giving 5 star. If this sane shop is located in Toronto I would have give 3 star only. It scores because they serve in Kitchener. Keep it up guys !!

Peggy Stiles

Amazing food

Tre Paquette

This company on Queen St passed me in thier cube van forcing ppl off the road because I'm a heavy vehicle . They passed me in a school zone I was already doing ten over . I used my air horn and they slammed the brakes on Infront of me and both gave me the finger and fled. This upset my load. I followed them to thier new location . Where they call 911 said I was assulting them with a weapon. Yeah great place . Horrible ppl they were

sachin Sharma

Although food is good here but just disappointed about their delay’s in providing food for take out.

Usman Toor

If you're looking for vegetarian groceries, fresh food and vegetables, this is a good place to shop. They also offer delicious samosas and other dishes.

Fenil Chauhan

They have average collection of Indian grocery but they bill manually , so I don’t know for what grocery they have charged what amount . That should not be there . I bought many things . So how do I know now that for what grocery they have charged what amount . Should improve their billing system

Derek Purdy

Best Samosas in town.. or anywhere? Truely amazing. You have to check it out!

Jignesh Trivedi

One of best Indian grocery shop in KW area. Slightly priced compare to Toronto stores but that is expected. Good variety of items available. They have 3 stores in town so if you can't find item in this store ask staff and they can check if that item is available in other store. Fresh vegetables are available on Friday I believe. Samosa and sweets are awesome and one of most sold items in this store. Please ask for hand made somasa's and not machine made.

As a grocery store they are okay, but for their fast food they are awesome specially their samosas. They need to improve their customer service a bit because they run really busy on their restaurant side.

Shivali Garg

Good food and Indian grocery store. Found rakhi’s there which was awesome.

Ashisha lal

It's a good place to find certain Indian groceries. They have decent variety. But customer service is horrible. If they don't know you they won't treat you decently. I wouldn't want to go there unless I absolutely need something I can't find anywhere else.

HEMANTH uppalapati

Nice small Indian store in Kitchener for grocery and vegetables. Make sure to visit early on weekends for shopping vegetables. They get limited stock of fresh Indian vegetables on late Friday and gets mostly sold out before Sunday. There is good collection of essential grocery. Monali Prasad

Love the taste of samosa only from this store!

Steve Coleman

Just discovered their samosa and I'm blown away!! I will be back for sure!!

Dee Gangabissoon

If you are looking for Indian Spices. Here is definitely the place to go. They have a wide variety and it is inexpensive. This place is like a mini grocery store. You will find Fresh Vegetables, ready made Indian Sweets which I love, freshly made Samosas and Vegetable Pakora both of which I absolutely love. They recently added a few Indian dishes for take out. There is a section where you could also shop for Indian clothing. ...ladies Saris, Lengha, Sharwal, Skirts, Tops, Pants. For a small cost you could have alterations done if the clothing you purchase do not fit properly. There is also a selection of beautiful costume jewelry and men's clothing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is one of my favorite place to shop.

Nilofer Vora

As compared to other indian store i feel onkar has limited options but its not that bad u get the basics

Rajib Kundu

Best samosas around

Ashish Trikha

We had been living in Guelph for 21 years. Last year, we moved to Kitchener. My dad had a knee replacement surgery last month, and lost his appetite due to post surgical procedures. He wouldn't feel like eating anything. My friend told me about the somosas at this Indian store. So I got just 2 for dad to try, if that helps bring his appetite back. He liked them so much that he told me to get 4 more right away. He said he hasn't had somosas that good since he has left India, 21 years ago. I can vouch for that too. I usually stay away from fried spicy foods like samosa. But even, I cannot resist samosas from this place. The people working there are really nice too. There's an uncle Ji, maybe he's the owner. He's always so soft spoken and calm. I never see anyone yelling or talking rudely to anyone (as typically at usual Indian stores). Highly recommend this store.

Ravi Theja Reddy Koripelly

Nice place to look for Indian grocery. They also sell North Indian clothing. It's not as big as OM Foods in Kitchener or Desi Food Mart in Cambridge.

Bogdan Radu

Advertising Visa checkout at the every of the store, but declining at the till, and charging for debit transactions.

Simran Kaur

Nice food

nishant rana

Must try their Indian Samosa. Good place to get all daily used Indian grocery. Place is small and crowdy during peak hours like festivals but over all good.

Yos M

Don’t forget their hot food section! The samosas are heavenly. I tried their samosa chaat the other day and it did not disappoint. Large portions, excellent taste and affordable. The desserts are also really delicious

Nikki Bowditch

I love this store has everything in it from house plants to house cleaners :)

Pankaj Kohli

The staff is so rude. Called to ask about menu and was yelled at. Will not be visiting somewhere that is disrespectful even on the phone.

komal gujral

Food was awesome but the lady at sweets counter on Aug 18 timing between 4 :00pm and 5 pm, was showing inappropriate behaviour. I dnt know why she was giving unnecessarily tough looks. She was arrogant and not at all happy to serve us. So she lacked customer service skills. This made my experience a bit aweful and disappointing .

Zainab Dawood

You can find fresh vegetables on Friday's with reasonable prices. Delicious Samosa(to go), variety of spices. Good customer service

Hardik Vyas

They are selling fresh samosas and I was really surprised when I taste it, it was really really tasty! I recommend anyone who wants to try it or want Indian sweets than you can definitely try this store! You will also find other items for sale apart from food but it's completely your choice ????

hanuma kumar

Little pricey than other indian stores and vegetables are not fresh always

Jose Sebastian

parul preet

Smose, jlebi..... all Indian sweets amazing.... so fresh!

John Sugrim

So close to home i love it.

Swati Swoboda

They have a take-out service now which serves inexpensive meals (around $5-$8). I thoroughly enjoyed the meal (I got "Bhatura Chana"). It packs some heat (sort of like eating a lot of medium salsa), but I thought it was delicious. The food was fresh, the portion size is enough for 1.5-- I had leftovers. My heat tolerance: I can do medium salsa, but generally prefer mild salsa. I cannot do anything spicier. No hot sauce, ever.

Azmi Hamid

I bought a food item from them, found it mixed with soil. Looks like many items already expired

Akshay Oberoi

Their take out quality is really good. Its a delight for vegetarians !

kevadiya tejash

Daman Singh

Staff is so friendly and helpful. N u get almost all Indian spices n foods from here. I got 20 packs of ready to eat indian dishes too from here which tastes reay good.

Ankit Sharma

Little overpriced and no exchange. 2 years back gave free potato onion bag on shopping over 100 but stopped now. Be careful when taking bread items for fungus etc.

Dileep

Has most of the groceries needed for indian subcontinent households. Place could had been maintained better.

vishwas reddy

This store is strictly for Punjabi's. Non Punjabi's stay away from this store. Cashier with the red turban acted weird and said the store is closed even though I was ready to pay with all my stuff in hands. If the store is closed they should shut all their doors and shouldn't let anyone in. Felt disrespectful would never visit again.

Melissa Lehman

Nice selection of asian foods, the samosas and desserts are classic Indian flavours.

Pradeep Pal

This place makes excellent food! I like to go here for the store-made samosas and pakoras. Tastes amazing, friendly staff, and inexpensive. Can take a bit of time to get your food, but they try to be as fast as possible and there is a reason they can be busy!

Priyanka Sharma

We took pranthas and dal, food was good but they took too long

Anonymous Gyal

Not much variety of stuff not a very clean store. The sweets looked like they were like 2 weeks old so dry looking wasn’t really happy with this place

Balaji Radhakrishnan

All kind of Indian foods are available here.

Anubhav Harlalka

One of the best samosas in KW area. The staff is friendly and the store is ok for its size. Can't compare it to stores in Toronto or Brampton but does justice to Indian grocery. Must try: Samosas, Chole Bhature, Butter Paneer

Muhammad Ali Khan

prices are high..not recommended. u can get same item in cheaper price from freshco or noor or other desi shops

Nova Alam

Good samosas, the cooked ones are big. $1.50 will get you two of them, best bang for buck

Mairaj Qidwai

Can't say much about this place as it is one of those desi shopping places where you shouldn't go with high expectations of variety, good customer service and cleanliness. I wouldn't blame them though. All desi shopping places are the same

Kalsoom Malik

You can find all Ibdian - Pakistani groceries very easily. Even you can demand for some special herb they will get it for you.

HBA123 DIL

It’s a nice grocer with basic south Asian spices, sweets, housewares and produce. The clothing shop next door outdated. Older, out of fashion Items. Suits I saw were in fashion I’m 2006 lol. Over all the store has south Asian basics, but could work on cleaning and organizing the establishment better. I saw a large number of items that needed refrigeration left out on produce stands like mint and methi leaves, eggplants, samosas, and pakoras. The floors were caked on with dust, grim and dirt. I’m positive with a couple of tweaks and organizational adjustments that this store can improve.

Jag D

The best Samosa's and Pakora's in KWC. Nice Indian Grocery Store

Doug de'Rozario

Great selection of Indian spices foods and groceries for a variety of ethnicities. Great selection of Indian deserts and delicacies. Fresh hand made samosas are a local favourite and specialty. High recomend

Lachu Kafley

Overpriced, dirty and the lady on the counter is trash.I prefer waterloo location for no crowd over this Kitchener location

Kelly East

We love getting fresh Samosas and veggies here!

S D

You can find indian and pakistani spicies and naan, patatha and also meethai (sweets) here

William Okanik

Best Samosas and Pakoras around and at a great price. They beat out restaurant ones by far. Also a great place to find indian spices for your cooking that can be hard to find elsewhere.

N A

Absolutely outstanding. Best shop in the entire region. The hot foods are fresh and delisious and both owner and staff are highly professional. Cleanliness is superb and the cheery atmosphere keeps me coming back. ????

unknown explorer

I like the cooked indian meals they prepare such as samosas, chole-bhature, bread-pakora. Also, they have a good range of indian sweets and spices.

John Koshy

Good Indian store... would get anything from spices to groceries

Beth Attwood

A quiet place with fresh vegetables and some hot food . Samosas ,spices, helpful staff.

Benjamin

Amazing owners, great food, great prices. The family that owns it are always so nice and assist me with choosing the right spices as this is a new area of cooking for me. Both this location, and their Waterloo one is amazing and would definitely recommend trying some of their delicious, fresh samosas.

Gurmail Khela

Good

Armando Armando

Good in quality food

John Silva

Third world market style, it represents India qualities for those who like it.

Gagandeep Kaur

They got the best tikki chat in the town but unfortunately are always out! :( They close at 8 pm but are always out of tikkis around 6 pm which is not fair.

Deep Desai

Only Indian store in Waterloo area. You can find almost everything in a decent price.

Yasir Dildar

You can get everything Desi. Now they have started making fresh Samoa which is very tasty.

Su R c

If you are near Kitchener and wish to have a delicious Samosa or a samosa Chaat...this is the place to go. We got some gujiyas from here. They tasted amazing. Just that unlike Toronto certain items in the store were a bit on the higher side.like the pickle dat I get for $2.50 was for $4.50 . But overall good store

Maninderdeep Kaur

Samosas are amazing but the waiting time and the customer services are pathetic, elderly person there is always polite, but the young girls need more training in customer services

Abdul Khalfan

Not clean and no proper signs Covid Precautions. No Sanitizers available for customers. Proper distancing not paid attention to. Unfortunately there is not much competition in KW to shop somewhere else!

Pandit Ji Sharma

Good Indian grocery store and Fresh Samosas and food

Atul Juneja

Pretty good store if it comes to indian groceries. Fresh and cheap food also available.

Alfia Mohammed

This has a home sort of feel. Spices, drinks, and baking ingredients are sold there, as well as produce. You can also find fabric there as well. I think there should be more options, as well as a bathroom. Great store!

Prabh Sidhu

nice collection of groceries and sweets . execellent staff specially the girls at the back counter . My only complaint is the horrible songs playing all around . It feels like I suddenly entered some haunted or cursed place after listening those songs. Please try to play some good positive songs ???? thankyou

Dipanjan Mukherjee

Very good place for Indian foods and grocery.... Prices are bit high...

David Marsh

Small but well stocked grocers with good variety.

Suresh Hari

They sell duplicate products. The Honey mango box but contents inside were garbage mangoes. Cheaters

Ashiv JOSHI

Best Samosa ever. Every Saturday's breakfast is fixed, garam garam samosa. But they charge for chutney.. ????

Asad Qureshi

Food Always fresh and always on time. Good variety of desi spices.

Asif Mahmood

The samosas are very tasty. A little expensive then regular samosa shops

Nadia Pantin

Great selection

Kasey

Bought somosa's and pastry's for a birthday party I was having to find out when I came home there was hairs and a dead fly in the bag. Called to explain to them and they insisted nothing like that ever happens and they would give me a few free. The free ones i got were not fresh and broken in the bag. Do not recommend

Jeremy Hunsinger

They have a great selection of indian supermarket goods

Judy V

They have delicious freshly-made samosas!! Lots of treats to enjoy including Thums Up!

Jeet Saini

Samosa are average taste. Size is okay. 2 stars because First time ever in life I found a place where chutney isn't included with samosa You have to pay extra. Not even little bit. It's like paying extra for gravy when I buy poutine lol.

King Bennon

Fantastic food! They have a Kitchen so you can buy samosas, chana masala and other foods. The prices are a little bit more now but they're still cheaper than a regular grocery store

Gurpreet Saini

Waited too long....people behind the counter didnt know what to do. Food is overpriced. And they use canned chickpeas to make Channa Bahutra. Taste was TERRIBLE for $6.99+tax

Aftab Ahmad

Now this supermarket catering the Indian and Pakistani origin Canadian is getting very expensive.

Vaishnavi Patel

MY family like the samosas from here so i buy them every week my son eats them

Razak Somji

Nice little place but catered well too. Hot delicious curries and.Good service. Awaiting New Onkar commence full eatery in the premises. But always miss Karai paneer

Carla Hutt

Small store, but has all the essentials. Only Indian store in town. Good.

Karan Gupta

Very good inventory, customer service and freshmade samosas.

Dhruv Saraswat

Everything you need coming from Indian subcontinent. From spices to Vegetables everything is available.

Priyeadarshi Khajuria

Definitely first choice for North Indian to go over there and have tasty snacks including samosa, jalebi and many more.

Always Email

A place to get most of your Indian spice and vegetables. A ready to eat counter with many option for quick bite and desert. The staff as well is very helpful in searching any of the things that your looking out for.

Wardah I

Needs to have a proper "line system" for people buying sweets.

Inderjit Singh Bains

Better check you tikki and Samosas. If they're good to eat . I have bad experiences tikki were d bad smell.

Arun Kumar Saini

Giving this because their sweets are worse when ever we tried taste is bitter. Only good part is Indain groceries are available but expensive.

Priyanka Mansinghka

The samosas are really good. They have huge variety of groceries and produce was fresh too. Good place to shop for indian kitchen!

Monika S

Friendly, food was amazing. Would definitely go back!

Vaibhav Sachdev

Loved the Gujiya. Pretty Friendly staff and the best samosas. My go to Indian grocery store.

Harkirat Kailey

Worst customer experience as well as food i have ever experienced in my life. I have been there 3-4 time every time customer service is below par.I ordered food and she told me that it will be ready in 15 minutes and when i went there after 25 minutes order was not even confirmed so i have to wait for another 20 min. idk what that lady thinks of herself such a egoistic lady. And food too doesn’t taste good, I ordered three plates of samosa channa and she put chana without warming it.. When i ate it tasted like i took it out from refrigerator. Food they provide has no proportionate spices and food is stale.. They definitely gotta do a lot of work on their food and customer service. And serve people keeping your ego aside..

Deepak Pall

One stop for Indian grocery and snack

Eva Hiebert

Best samosas they are always fresh.

Always Niththy

Samosas are okay, you find Indian grocery but check expiry date. One lady in there very rude, she doesn't obey the first come first serve basis. There was a lady behind me, she skipped me and went over to serve her. There were few good people but I don't see them anymore. Customer service is very poor.

Karen Dombroskie

Excellent produce and fair prices. Excellent dried goods. The staff smile and engage in conversation. Top notch establishment. Thank you Onkar for your many years of quality service. You have a wonderful staff. I wish you many more years of success. Thank you ????

Ishu Saini

They provide zero customer service and the staff working there is soo rude. Especially the kitchen staff they literally don’t care about customer’s. The manager should either hire better staff or train the ladies on how to talk with customers.

Abhik Sengupta

Store to buy indian grocery. They have almost everything we usually need.

Sonya Parasram

Lots of variety and products. Delicious sweets

KARAMJOT KAUR

This is not briyani idk what you guys gave me , I expected something else but what i got this ????????‍♀️

H H

Good for vegetarian food and Indian sweets. They also have one of the best (only) fresh samosa's and halwa puri in town.

Wazi Nomi

I am very picky when come to food and taste. Also I dont write fault reviews to mislead others. I highly recommend to this store and try theire samosas.. Very tasty, delicious and fresh. Theire samosas sold within half hour. Make fresh every hour. They deserve 5 star.????????????
