DESCRIPTION

We have all the reviews of people like you who consume the services of Marche Leo's (Fruit Store) around Kitchener territory (Canada).

To this day the business gets a rating of 3.9 over 5 and that rating has been based on 46 reviews.

As you can read, its rating is quite good, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we can think that the score is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well with the service, it works.

As you know, we don't usually stop to put feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

Store is clean and staff is nice but selection is poor and overpriced.

So disappointed. I was really excited to have a grocery store in the downtown area, but the prices are outrageous and selection is limited. It seems to me that the store believes people in downtown Kitchener are willing to spend as much as people in downtown Toronto, where their original store opened. Downtown Kitchener residents aren't going to be willing to pay $10.99 for milk, or $4.49 for a single raw hamburger patty - especially when you can go across the street and get an entire hamburger meal for $6 at Union Burger. You ought to know your demographics. Residents of the many apartment complexes and downtown homes may be willing to pay a little more for the convenience of being downtown, but not that much. Half the customers I saw there walked out empty handed... That's not a good sign for your business.

Excellent full service grocer! Selection is great for an urban format with a bit of everything and brands you're used to. Prices are close to or the same as Zehrs and Sobeys. This not place to find big discounts and loss leaders like Walmart or Food Basics so if you need to save that $3 on olive oil or crackers, look elsewhere. Takeaway foods and cafe items are tasty and reasonabily priced as well!

very good market, with a lot of variety of products, fruits, vegetables and meats. it has a cafeteria and excellent service.

The owner decided to open up without bothering to become wheelchair accessible. No excuse for that. I'll take my 75$ a week grocery bill elsewhere. I wonder if my local newspaper would like to hear about this?

I was surprised to see that the prices actually aren't that bad, they seem comparable to Sobeys or superstore and goodness me, some things were actually cheaper, the meat was very expensive I will say. The store is very clean and bright and there's a lot of cool stuff that I haven't seen in other stores. the staff are welcoming. I think people don't realize that the prices are going to be a bit higher in this location because the rent cost in downtown is very high so the prices need to be higher in order for the business to make a profit.

This store had a choice to be accessible, and said "nah!" The 2 stars are for the friendly extra helpful staff. Prices for some items are unacceptable as you get same items at shoppers 3 doors down for far less. I came for the BBQ chicken I saw on the website but it seems the place doesn't sell a lot of things advertised on website. Don't expect to do a large grocery shop here as there is no parking and you have to go up about 6 steep steps to get in and out. Sure they offer "free delivery" but it comes off the prices and we all pay for it. Would it have been so hard to turn those steps into a ramp for seniors and people with disabilities? They would have swarmed to your store for the convenience of treating themselves to a nice steak dinner and not having to travel so far from home. Many seniors live downtown and many like me on the older side. My suggestions. Clear out stuff that shoppers sells far cheaper like tissue, coffee etc. Make room for more ready made meals from your kitchen. (not the 12$ rice and meat bits I saw today) offer up pie slices, cheesecake slices. Chop up some mixed onion, pepper, mushroom for stir fry, Things that cater to the many young couples, and singles living here.put in a ramp for those people with hand carts at least, if you want the Saturday morning market crowd.

Very disappointing . I walked down to the new store in Kitchener today with my mother who has a walker . As we approached the store we were met by a man in a wheelchair just sitting outside the store looking in . He, like my mother was very excited at the thought of finally having a grocery store downtown only to find out that they were not welcome in the store. Once entering the store there is a set of stairs that makes it not accessible to seniors and all people with disabilities . This is discrimination , in today's world of zero tolerance , this should not be allowed.

One star for convenience; -3 stars for $9 Kraft Peanut Butter, $7.50 for 1 liter of Oat milk and $4 for flavored sugar water (normally cheap juice). Prices should be 5, 4 and 2 for the exact same products listed at competing stores. Full Circle Foods, Legacy Greens, Shoppers Drug Mart, Kitchener Market, Ben Than or even Farah Foods have better prices. Pick any store; their prices are better. -1 more star for the fact that this store is an example of how gentrification overlooks the needs of those who live in the area in favor of extracting money from rich people who lack common sense. I still have to travel to a grocery store I can afford even though I live right near this tragedy. To those reviewers that say this store has great pricing; please seek help... seriously. (Update: Shoppers has seen Leo's greed and raised their prices so they can subsequently put them on 'sale'. No Shoppers $6.50 was your price a few months ago, not $8.99 with a $1.50 discount.. Shame on Shoppers and Leo Marche's

Visited for the first time today, loved it! The vibe sort of reminds me of Goodness Me. Beautiful atmosphere, great selection considering the size (including gluten free and vegan items), and everyone seemed friendly. Looking forward to trying the cafe/bakery bit on another visit. They also have a flower/plant section which was a nice surprise! As to be expected, certain items are priced slightly higher than the big grocery stores, but I find the convenience and quality (and supporting DTK businesses!) to be worth it. The accessibility issue is kind of a thing though, so I wonder if a solution is in the works.... The building itself is unique in that it's set quite high up and it seems there are stairs to climb at almost all the entrances (e.g. the condo entrance, and the vacant part next door), but hopefully they can get creative for the folks in our community who can't do stairs. ????

A solid grocery store. Small for outside of DTK but awesome when there.

Nice to see another store in downtown it should do well with all the condos being built

As someone who lives downtown I was psyched for this store to open - and I wasn't disappointed. For every product it seems they offer a couple of familiar brands/options, and then a couple I've never heard of before. A lot of folks seem to think the prices are higher than elsewhere but this has NOT been my experience. Just recently picked up some produce and every item I bought was cheaper than at any of the other stores I shop (Valumart, Central, Zehrs.) If you go here expecting a one-stop shop to do a big grocery haul for your whole family, yeah, you'll be disappointed. But that's not what this store is. Bigger cities are abundant with little grocery stores that make it easy to grab some essentials while you're on the go, or pick up that missing ingredient when you're in a pinch at dinner time. Marche Leo's is exactly that, and in my opinion, they're doing a great job of it.

The good: Friendly, knowledgeable staff, very clean, nice vibe. The bad: Extremely limited selection, high prices, nothing like Marche in Toronto, not handicapped friendly Basically a Mini-Mart with desserts.

OEBC

Friendly staff, reasonable prices, lots of selection and prepared food to go. Happy to see a downtown grocer open up.

Deanne Sinclair

What a great little upscale grocery store! Love the selection of higher end products, but also a great spot to get essentials too. Staff were very friendly. Really happy to see this store open in DTK. Exactly what we were missing!

The only place in Kitchener-Waterloo to buy Kusmi Tea (Paris, France).

Linda Yuzwak

Lovely store, friendly staff and a wonderful selection of products. I found the prices to be reasonable and in line with what you would pay for quality. It was great to see lots of organic choices and the prices for these were also competitively priced. I will definitely shop here in the future.

Why does this Kitchener store have no accessibility for disabled? There are stairs that wheelchair, walkers cannot navigate. Is there a ramp or lift that I missed? Beyond disappointed at the lack of respect for our seniors, disabled, veterans. Totally not cool!

Dejan

Grossly overpriced in comparison to other stores. One star for convenience sure. One star because it's fine if you don't mind paying an arm and a leg. But really it's just more expensive by 20-40%. If you have the means to go to a Sobeys or a cosco go for it. If you don't care about bang for your buck by all means continue to shop here.

I thought this market would have more integrity. I understand its new and bumps to be had on the way, but wait for it. Went to the deli, had lunch from their buffet. Not bad, but cold. Chicken was overdone, rice (maybe their pilaf) cold, overdone brisket, gravy cold. When I mentioned to the deli area, they said, we have our steamer trays at 180 degrees. Not an apology but an alouf sorry. This is not cheap, pay by weight. Disappointed to say the least. Should of mentioned my disappointment with the manager, but no, I decided why ruffle feathers. A learning curve. They looked at me like sorry about your luck, they received $8.00 or more with tax including the package it was in. Next, the bunch of flowers by the entrance looked like they had been in a truck, way to long, and the veggie area looked like they were dealing with bad produce carriers. Pretty wilted, with the cost of food, not a good deal. Lots of bottle stuff just keep an eye on the pricing. A wee bit steep, but convenient if you lived in the core of KW area. Ate at the counter, needed to stand, the stools were at least 6-8 inch shy of the counter. Good if you want to eat off your lap. All in all, clean wide aisles, pleasant staff, but do not pay attention to customer complaints and acknowledge their mistakes to rectify this situation. Too bad that they decide what is important or not, to win or lose a customer, on a more serious note, not accessible to the handicapped community. Shame on this, better days ahead thru your growing pains. Stay safe.

Great store with good selection and friendly staff. Chef department offers hot food and great pizza

Andy S

Friendly staff, amazing location (for those of us living downtown), surprising amount of product/brand variety for a smaller grocery store! It's a mash-up of Farm Boy, whole Foods and a dash of Healthy Planet.

Shirley Sit

First visit to this “gourmet” grocery store expecting premium products. What a disappointment. I purchased a small 5” plain cheesecake that the store claimed to be Carole’s Cheesecake Company New York style cheesecake. Firstly, it’s unbelievable that the store would sell a cake that had been sitting in their refrigerator for so long that the surface of the cheesecake had become rubberized. Secondly, there was no logo anywhere to indicate authenticity of the cake. In fact, the bottom of the cake was lined with just a thin piece of parchment paper. Marche Leo’s, you have lost a customer and any potential recommendations.
