I must change my review Bob the franchise owner came into the line up and poked at a boys face clearly with Autism. He told him to obey the law and cover his nose with his mask. He said I am exempt and Bob proceeded to bother him. I as a first responder stepped in. He told me when I said he is clearly struggling to breathe. He said well he should have a little card or a title around his neck . I wish I could shop here however on merit and principles will not. After I challenged him and demanded he explain the order that empowers him to a peace officer? He ran away at that point. Now when I need to stop in for something very essential he runs from me I don't even say a word he just runs! Guilty minds!

Went totally out of her way for me and continues to do so each time i go to the store. i have only one thing that bothered me. i have been buying 24 case of pepsi for $9.59 including tax. in the most recent flyer the 24 pack went up to 10.99 without tax for the sale. Wow they increased the price for the sale......

Their you-must-use-to-enter hand sanitizer absolutely REEKS (and yes I had a mask on!). Prices rang up much higher than shelf price (causing much delay as cashier had to find someone to check the shelf) and cashier had never heard of the Scanning Code of Practice that's clearly Posted At Her Register and had to ask thru 2 other staff to see if it was for-real and then how to do it.

Biggest pet peeve right now, they are always changing there opening and closing times. This is not only for this store its all stores and services right now, but just saying is all. It would be nice if they properly updated times when they changed, like that day. Great store, I know it can be some what pricy, especially for being in a student filled area, but they do have certain days for discounts for students,and also have lots of sales all the time. The best part is probably the employees, they are so friendly and always help when you need it.

This shop looks bigger than you’d think, and is nicely tucked away, which I really like. While the actual ‘mall’ it’s in is VERY small and limited in ‘shops’ as advertised, this grocery store is well stocked and has pretty decent prices and variety in produce. Update/edit from early 2020: Increasingly I'm finding this store seems to have trouble keeping some items in stock. I shop there several times a week, and have noticed some items aren't restocked for days, and in some cases, weeks. It's frustrating to have to wonder whether the store will have what you need day to day. Downgrading to three stars.

This is actually my go to grocery store... It's well located, reasonably priced, a pretty good selection of multicultural foods, and their in-store baked bagels and breads are really good. The only downside to this store is that the produce section is pretty hit or miss (which is why I only gave it 3 stars). Sometimes they have a great selection of produce that looks great, but once in a while I have to make another stop somewhere else to pick up some of the produce items.

This grocery store has done an exceptional job with its handling of the pandemic. I've noticed that the checkout lanes typically have two staff assigned and the staff are very efficient in cleaning the surfaces and bagging purchases. There is a clear use of signage relating to COVID precautions, which I don't believe is true for all businesses and I really appreciate this clear stance on safety. Aside from my observations around the pandemic: I have been going to this store on and off for a little over two years now, and the staff have always been wonderful! The owner of the store has a clear presence and, independent of the owner I'm sure, the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Bob's valu-mart is a fairly standard discount grocery store. I appreciate that they carry PC products. Produce is marginally better than other discount grocery chains like food basics but still worse than Zehrs and Sobeys. Prices are cheaper or equal to Zehrs for many items but their prices will be beaten by Food Basics for many items.

Was a pain to shop as I am mask exempt. Eventually was allowed to go about my business and shop. I was asked rudely for 'medical papers', something that is illegal to ask for and also not required by law. At the end of the conversation before I could shop the manager decided to insult me and my child calling us selfish for being mask exempt. I am not sure how that is possible to be selfish as mask exempt individuals. I know it was not selfish of me to ask permission from the manager before my daughter and I shopped. He was completely disrespectful and his comment / attitude was uncalled for. Luckily for the mouthy manager I had my child with me. He would be smart to remember what he has posted on the stores signs regarding mask and honour them without argument or comment.

2.5 stars..A convenient location but its prices are a little more than Zehrs and other stores. The most disappointing thing is the protein only has %30 off, unlike Zehrs for %50. There's always tons priced at %30 and I assume most goes in the waste because you can go elsewhere for %50 off. The staff is always friendly and helpful when you ask and I've never waited a long time in a line.

Great store, and probably one of the best places to actually buy goods. Fresh fruit and tasty as well! The store looks small from the entrance but actually is huge. I would recommend going on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday though to get a 10% discount if possible. The store layout is a little strange and the lines seem inconvenient however it is a very good place to buy groceries and FAR less populated than Walmart.

Great store to frequent, it has a nice small town feel to it that Zehrs and Sobeys cannot provide with their Labrynths of aisles inside 2 storey, 1 floor buildings. Im glad to see that this store didn't succumb to the stupid LRT Constructiom that was the demise of many uptown Waterloo stores.

Bob's Valuemart Shopped here since 2014 & I've never been more humiliated by a person like Bob the owner did on October 19th 2020. Calling me a germ spreader because I refuse to leave my bag at the front of the store and while not wearing a mask due to medical exemptions. *employee tried to stop me as I entered the store and I kept walking into the store with my bag. She followed me as I shopped and then had Bob the owner following me as I shopped. I walked up to Bob to let him know that I have a medical exemption and I don't appreciate being harassed by the employee when I come in to the store. I'm not leaving my bag at the front because I have had stuff stolen and leaving my bag puts me at risk. Bob said I'm spreading my germs and I said if I'm doing something wrong then call the police or maybe I should call them. I proceded to check out and I started to say to the employee that I don't like her harassing me as I come into the store I have a medical exemption. She said go talk the owner about and I said I did talk to him. Bob the owner came to where I was and started sweeping the floors of where I was and going at my foot with the big floor wide broom. . Overwhelmed I said I respect that you have to wear a mask but I deserve the same respect because I cannot wear one. I don't even like having to go out shopping because of this. Then customers started in at me calling me a drama queen and to hurry up. I couldn't even concentrate on buying my purchase. I've never been more humiliated by a stores owners treatment of me. Especially after so many years of loyal customer support shopping there to support local businesses. Very discussing the way Bob the owner treats medically exempt people. Using humiliation and accusation of spreading my germs. No support for my safety while shopping there. I recommend Vincenzo's to support local businesses now. I never received any such treatment there! Thank you Vincenzo's for customer support and respect.

I love Valumart. For some reason, I just love shopping at this particular grocery store. It is big but not too big, never too busy, the employees are all very nice, the selection is not otherworldly but yet I am always able to find any given particular product that I was looking for, and the produce is almost always fresh. I just find that the prices have been starting to get quite high. I used to live in a different part of the city, and the grocery prices at yet another PC grocery store were substantially cheaper than Valumart. Nonetheless, this is the only real grocery store in Uptown so I guess it has a bit of a monopoly. I still come here pretty much every week and love the experience but just wish prices were a tad more reasonable.

An alright small valumart with old finishings, and expensive produce. Only one option for cilantro and it was a wilted organic bunch for 4.99. I wish I was able to go somewhere else but they got me in a pinch and made me pay for it. Food is often marked down 30% if you go to the back of the store, with a relatively small meat/fish section and a large freezer section.

Even their gluten free options are very yummy and cost only a few cents more than the regular ones. The most outstanding thing about this store though is their excellent staff! Pretty bizarre that you have to leave your bag on a shelf that has access to the entrance and exit, it’s not secured and it’s clearly not cleaned. The only other option I was given was to give me bag to customer service, this seems like a very unprofessional procedure and unsafe for the current time, I don’t want multiple people handling my bag or even one other person. Now is not the time to be touching people’s personal belongings. I won’t be returning as long as this procedure is in place. Ps it’s just as easy to steal without a bag if that is what the concern is.

This store is expensive but has great produce selection, and bakery has alot of made in store things(the sourdough bread is delicious and butter rolls are addictive) and has an assorted discount rack. Meat is reasonably priced. Great selection of pack your own olives. For being in a student area you'd figure there'd be a bigger selection of frozen to ready made meals. The hot deli has meals put together. It would be nice if they had a better selection of individual refrigerated beverages to go with the meals. Staff is friendly and efficient.

Prices are on the higher side and sales generally aren't any cheaper. They carry most of the President's Choice products and you can collect PC points. I've had a couple bad experiences with the cashiers during the day shift at this location. It's also very hard to find someone working on the floor if you need assistance finding a product or sale item.

The store is small they don' t stock up on sale items. They refuse to give rain checks nor are they considerate enough to but a sign up stating the items are sold out. They don't care people are trying to save money and many don't have cars only to be disappointed when arriving. They are smart enough to know what items will go quickly and flyers are prepared a month in advance so why are they so lazy making sure they have enough for everyone instead of waisting time and gas? My son could do a better job in that store than the manager does!

I shop there quite often only because it’s within walking distance but now it’s been the third time that I’ve bought something there and I brought it home and it’s completely rotten the first time was meat in the last two times It’s been vegetables like a package of the little potato company they were two for seven dollars and the one package was full of rotten potatoes this value mart lost money during the pandemic and now is passing on their loss to the consumers and I’ve lost all confidence in buying anything fresh from this place This isn’t the only grocery store that I noticed too I’ve been doing this so since the prices have gone up exponentially on food and they’re selling old stock and rotten food we should not have to stand for this very very disappointing

Wth they purposefully put other produce when i bought orange that was on sale... It's only probably a dollar more so I'm not going to bother but they should never ever do that. I've been coming here b/c it's close to my house but tbh overall it's expensive. I would rather go to sobeys where they have fresher produce with price similar to valu mart. Just lost a customer! Just an FYI, you might have the right to refuse whomever you want, but you still are not allowed to actually legally tell people to leave their property at the front of your store. You assume your customers will be thieves, and predominantly discriminate against students and people who rely on public transit because we rely on backpacks. The impact of me having my property stolen is a far more financial burden on me, than if someone manages to steal a ham or something from you. You're owned by Loblaws, who priced fixed bread for how many years, stealing money from your customers pockets? Yet, you have the audacity to request I leave my bag at the front and I am meant to trust you? I will never shop there again.

Not much valu here. Everything is overpriced. You are really paying for the rent. Most of the produce is pretty close to the end of it's life. Some of the prepared foods can be decent if you get them at 50% off. Seems like there is always a line at the front. They do offer parcel pick up. Lots of parking due to it being in a mall.
