Fabulous unpretentious independent local food store with Portuguese specialty items, an open air sidewalk market and always a nice selection of seasonal plants and flowers. It's a small friendly neighborhood shop with a storefront that adds such a lovely colorful vibe & character to the James street north neighborhood...who doesn't want to support that?!

Basically looking for good pricing in shish price I like salmon and I like mackerel salt fish so when I go to Canada I always look for these fish that in Pennsylvania's very difficult to get at least a good price so we find these graces the lighthouse still have reasonable prices on fish so we buy salmon to take back to Pittsburgh

This fish market has wrongly been blocking the sidewalk. Folks with walkers, wheelchairs and canes as well as families with children in strollers cannot pass by safely on the sidewalk. I saw that the bus stop had been moved - why is that acceptable for a private business to endanger residents? I have complained to the owner to no avail. I have complained to the City Bylaw office and the City councilor which was useless. The City is not making Hamilton 'disability' or 'age friendly' at all when they allow private businesses to put merchandise on our public spaces to make money and endanger the public as well! Cheers.

Haven't bought fish here (other than canned anchovies), but it's the best place to buy plants for your vegetable/herb garden. Excellent prices. Bring cash or a debit card.

Nope. Smelled like rancid fish in there. Vegetables were okay, much better quality at Hamilton's Farmer market and way more selection.
