This place slaps, easily the best high end grocer I've been to. Its huge, they have everything, and the employees are always helpful. Self checkout is somehow never busy even though the store usually is.

I switched to mainly an organic/non gmo diet about 4 months ago...and since I've been going to this Fortinos location. Compared to other grocery stores, Fortinos has a better selection of organic and it's organized well in the store. I love that this location has underground parking, and there's tons of parking!! And lines aren't long at all when you pay. Its pricey, but I also wait for sales!! I'd rather pay more for fresh fruit and produce. At Walmart it goes bad in a few days. I also tried the udon at the noodle bar, it was yummy!! Lastly I got the pc optimum app. So it's nice to collect points and save some money on groceries!!

Bought some lunch from the hot foods counter the other day. The women working there (Sharon) was very informative and made sure I got exactly what I wanted and she was extremely friendly. I bought a half chicken and some onion rings, the food was top notch. I will be a repeat customer and I highly recommend it.

Love this location. Clean space and very friendly staff working the hot food section (specifically the Filipinos)! Love the bakery as well. Now if only some of the customers would drive a little slower in the parking lot it’d be great - my family member was almost run over by an suv.

Similar to most other Fortinos, except this one actually has underground parking, believe it or not. Yes, in the suburbs. It's a MASSIVE parking lot too, spanning the entirety of the store. Besides that, they have a VERY large store, with a few products not seen at most other Fortinos locations (including some of the best donuts I've ever had). Is it worth driving to specifically for these extra products, and underground parking? Not really.

Staff should check regularly and remove expired products from shelf. I don't know how many times I came home only to find out that smth I bought was expired and I have to throw it out. I had this issue with pre-packaged bread few times, cookies, dairy products. I don't want to drive all the way back to return it but it's rather annoying. Please do something about it!

Grandiose well organized store. Shelves look very neat and beautiful. Fresh produce, meats, fish and a lot of products you want to buy in a supermarket. Fresh breads and pastries are delicious. Hot table offers variety of incredibly tasty dishes. Roasted beef, mashed potatoes, veggies, side dishes are better than in some restaurants. Selection of cheese makes hard to pick just one kind. Sweets counter looks gorgeous, cakes look like artwork. It’s a pleasure to shop in this clean, classy upscale supermarket.

Got some T-bone steaks the other day and they where tough as wood! The store is stalked 70% of the time with what you need. However the other 30% you are looking for something they don't have. Overall, not a bad establishment but a poor choice if you want variety. I will give them an extra point as the in-house bakery looks superb.

While the store is absolutely beautiful and looks clean on the surface, the produce and even some items sold are sub-par. It was a shame when I recently bought baby food from here only to find out that it was way beyond its printed best buy date! Which is a shame. Bulk items like peanuts are also very stale and smell rancid. More on the positives, it has underground parking, and the ready to eat food choices are great and well priced.

Best supermarket in Hamilton. They stock a wide variety of products. Their produce section is never a let-down and the deli and meat departments are excellent too. Every spring they open a garden center which is very helpful. I love Fortinos.

The store is a little dated, but it's a large store with an excellent selection and always has items in stock. Would love to see this location adapt a similar style as mall road, and have all the food stalls. Customer service is polite and efficient and the line ups are considerably better than other fortinos locations.

Aside from it having some HIGH prices, you get what you pay for...and sometimes it's worth it! I have found some cheaper items here than at other 'HEALTH FOOD STORES' so I'll be returning for those items! Cashiers are SOOOO friendly! You hardly ever have to wait. This location is very spacious and has many advantages: It has a lot of parking spots available; you can buy hot meal from variety of options (salad, pizza, pasta, fried chicken, fried seafood, etc.) and it has dining area to sit down and enjoy the hot meal you bought (Definitely not in COVID pandemic and only on normal times). Store is clean and staff are helpful.

Great Fortinos as most are. Always well stocked with nice wide and easily accessible aisles. Being now owned by Loblaws as is Shoppers Drug Mart among other large chains you can amass some excellent reward points saving some serious cash when you reach reward limits. The daily prepared food is on par with any Fortinos I've personally used in the Hamilton area. Cakes for special occasions can be bought here as with most or all Fortinos for a fair price with excellent quality. They offer a nice selections in their catalogue of cake designs for almost every occasion. My only gripe is they lack the daily made sushi or sushami trays like the one down in the McMaster area offers. Which is disheartening and nothing more. The staff are great and lines always move in a timely fashion.

This is toward the cafe. I went up to the barista, I said what non-diary milk options do you have? She replied almond and soy milk. I said almond milk, please. As I was watching her make it, the milk she grabbed did not look like almond but wanted to trust she listened to me. I was in a rush, the moment I took a sip I knew she had put diary milk. I was sick all day and hopefully don't break out in hives. It was an older women with gray hair. I bet the rest of the store is probably lovely, but I am very hesitant to come back to the cafe.

We don't come here often, but its a very clean, well kept store. There's lots of election, especially in producer, and it's all quite fresh. There's often lots of lanes open for checkout, so slowdowns only really happen when you're entering or leaving the store due to a tight corridor.

Awesome supermarket. Visit for both groceries and prepared food. I'd recommend the Pizza there. It's bakes fresh and is actually pretty great tasting. They also have a catering service that I've used a couple times. Solid food. Lastly this location has underground, heated parking. Excellent for those chilly winters or boiling hot summer days.

Update: Dec 21/21 They have expecting mothers/family spots now. Been since at least summer that they put them in, should have mentioned sooner but life is busy.

LOVE the PC-express service~!! I have always had exceptional service from everyone in that department. Josie is amazing~!!! So polite and thorough~!!! Always enjoy the treats at pick up too :) The quality of produce chosen for me is exceptional. It took me a bit to get use to ordering quantities of certain items like deli meats etc but being able to use the “comment” box made is super simple. The down side...and this is really the downside is the 4 parking spots that ignorant people park in who are not pc -express customers. They don’t realize, nor care that I have paid a pick up fee entitling me to that spot. IS THERE ANYWAY TO MOVE THOSE PARKING SPOTS TO THE REAR OF THE BUILDING??? please!!!

Hot food, especially the prime rib sandwich and arancini rice balls are awesome. Unfortunately, I don't recommend the Japanese takeout. Produce, bakery and groceries are excellent. I had an isolated incident with meat purchase but was handled well when I returned the meat. Well stocked. Checkout is great. I have never waited to checkout.

Amazing produce section! The take out counters are a gastronomic experience in themselves. Huge store so bring your walking shoes. Underground parking with handicapped spaces is ppreciated whatever the weather. Be advised that the entrance to the parking garage is narrow and is also the exit so approach with caution.

Review for online orders 03-2020. I tried to place an order on Sunday, March 22. Delivery/pick-up wait time is 7 days. Unbelievable. It could be really hard to self-isolate and be served by Fortinos. Metro did a better job (4 days delivery). Walmart promised to deliver in 3 days, but my money went to Metro. Previous review for in-store items April 2019. You get what you expect to: good service, good selection, good quality. Prices are on the higher end, however.

When I was pregnant I always got multiple offers from staff to carry my groceries out to my car. The selection of food is amazing, very very clean. Love this location!

They just recently stocked on some Parmesan cheese (the wedge; not the pre-grated stuff) and it is the best I have had from a grocery store. The price is very affordable too. Overall, Fortinos' in general are pretty good in terms of quality, and just okay in terms of price. Also, the doughnuts here are really good too, albeit very sweet. They are more of the chewy/doughy type of doughnuts.

Grocery section has way too many sale items as well as regular price items that are not in stock or buried in the back while shelves remain empty due to lack of Management's organizational skills. If Management had any concern for customers, they should try being pro-active and actually make an effort to be organized instead of keeping customers guessing when stock will be in or whether it's in the back somewhere buried in a disorganized mountain of mess; which it usually is. Beautiful place to shop but if you need actual answers from Management about stock in the grocery section, you'll quickly find out that they don't have the knowledge to run a lemonade stand, let alone a grocery store. Scott W. is a prime example on how NOT to manage a supermarket that claims to be customer focused.

I love this Fortinos! It has an underground parking which makes the entire experience way cooler and just fun. I sometimes go to Fortinos to do groceries specifically because they have this underground parking. The selection st Fortinos is also great as they have a fresh bakery, café, carvery, roast chicken and asian noodles. Great for if you want a quick lunch at a reasonable price. They also have fresh fruits and veg, as well as a fish section with tons of fresh fish and meat. I do wish they had Halal meat so they could cater to the Muslim community

We use PC Express to do grocery pick ups every week and have been really impressed with their pick-up area in the underground parking garage. I come here a lot, I mean a lot. We buy groceries here and eat in the food ready section. The experience is usually good. Food is fresh and service is average. My son loves pretzels so we do have them quite often. This morning I walked in and bought a pretzel. After paying for it we sat down to eat inside and we noticed that the pretzel was stale and probably a day old. I went back the cashier and she ensured me that they make the pretzels daily and there is no way that the pretzel is a day old. Well, I have your pretzels all the time and I know what a fresh one tastes like. On top of that there were only 3 prretzles left when I picked up mine. Anyway, it is disappoint to see that the employees here don’t care about protecting Fortinos values and don’t want to take responsibility. I didn’t really want a refund, just wanted to let them know that their pretzels have gotten stale. We ended up purchasing another item and went on our way . Disappointing experience in a premium establishment

Best store in Canada! I just moved to an area where fortinos is easy to get to. Brings back so much nostalgia and memories from when I was a child. Always was so happy to go shopping with my parents because I loved the stores, with my mom being a manager at one location. I still get butterflies when I enter the stores. Mom would always buy me and my brother's drinks called Chubbys. We would be allowed to get one each when we went and if we behave. I wish The drink was still around, but the good times and memories are even better!

So my family loves watermelon all year round and I get that it's not always in season however, I brought back a watermelon to upper Wentworth fortinos a couple of weeks ago and asked to speak to the produce manager and all he said was "Do what you want get a new one or get your money back". So I asked him if I could get the new one cut pointed to the salad bar. I kind of expected better service then that because I was in upper james fortinos just looking at the watermelons and the produce manager came up to me and asked if he could cut one for me and when he returned he had samples for me to eat as well while I shopped. Now that's customer service!

Underground parking is a MUST! Why doesnt every place in Canada have this? Food selection is top grade. The prepared meals selections are good. Chicken finger are good sonare some of the salads and soups. If you go at the right time, you can sample breads, cakes and other goodies.

Took the family to dinner at Fortinos and it was great! Our family enjoyed pizza, a wrap, soup, sushi, and prime rib! It was about $50 but everyone got a fast fresh meal. The prime rib was delish and the soup tasted homemade plus the pizza and sushi were fresh. The only downfall and it was minor, was having to pay at various stations. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and it was quick. We'll be back again and we might try their breakfast....

This is an excellent Fortino's location, very convenient for anyone in the North West area of Oakville (including Glen Abbey). This store has a great selection of fresh meats and vegetables, along with a large variety of unique and hard to find items for those recipes that call for something that you may not have in your pantry. Great bakery section with fresh bread made on site daily. They have a rather large selection of hot foods as well as pies, cakes and cookies. I always take the time to order an espresso from their little cafe - it gives me the pick me up needed! I am able to find European items that are hard to find at other grocery stores so for that reason (and the great tasting espresso) I always stop in when I am in the Oakville area.

The newest member of the Loblaws chain to open in Oakville. The store is fresh and clean. Fortino's is supposed to have an "Italian" feel to it and it does feel a little different in its food selections compared to some of the other stores. However, due to heavy price competition, the cost of shopping here isn't much different than at other shops in the area. Have a lunch from one of the fresh food bars at the front of the store while you are there. You are sure to be satisfied by the wide selection.

The Fortinos is great, but watch yourself in the parking lot. Drivers simply do not care about the crosswalks in front of the store, I've had several people try to drive right into me as I tried to cross (with some seriously close calls). Also why on earth are kids allowed to sell chocolate bars (and etc.) in the parking lot? Despite the fact that they're kind of a nuisance, approaching me multiple times in one visit, but it's also pretty dangerous. They're weaving through parked cars, approaching moving cars, and knocking on random car windows if they see someone is inside. I really hope someone tells them to stop because it's otherwise a wonderful location to quickly grab groceries.

The hot food they serve is also worth trying. Leaving the plaza to get back on to Dundas is a little bit confusing, so head north out of the plaza and go around.

Two bad experiences at this store: Three months ago, when I bought Lobsters, the staff did not deduct the plastic container's weight when weighting the lobsters, and almost double charged me. Yesterday, I went to buy steak, the staff overcharged me again after I saw him double-checking the price label.I talked to the manager of the meat department. He said sorry in a very bad manner with the excuse that they were busy although I was the only customer then. I wish that there were no systematic cheating in these two departments. As a customer, I don't want to assure that the staff apply the correct price when shopping the groceries.

Fortino's is a "high end" grocery store, with great quality meats, seafood, fruits and veggies. I like the sale racks for bread / bakery items, great value and selection. They need to improve the parking lot / grocery cart lay out, as people tend to leave their carts all over the place on one side of the lot. I know, people also to blame but that's another story (needs to be mistake proofed).

Produce of similar quality can be found for cheaper prices at other stores, so see if you can price match the item. Dairy is priced reasonably and the deli is quite expansive as well.

This Fortinos is a first class grocery store. The various hot take out/dine in options are impressive. The flower shop is one of the best you will find inside a grocery store. This is an enormous store that offers everything you need and want. I'd say this is one notch above Loblaws on the East Mall in Etobicoke.

Bad experience with the bakery. Ordered a chocolate amaretto cake 2 days in advance. The staff took the order no problem. Asked to pick it up at 10 AM on Aug. 8th. Got a call at 8:53 AM the day of to hear that my cake is not available. Called to find out why, was told that the cake was out of stock when I placed the order, and was still out of stock today. I asked why the staff even took my order if that was the case, expressed that I now have to try to find a cake at the last minute. I have no idea why they did not let me know the day before at the very least. Luckily a local bakery came through. Found this to be very unprofessional of the bakery staff.

I like this grocery store because it has a lot of ready made food. There's, hot dishes like pizza, soup etc. There's lots of different salads, sandwiches etc. Also have lots of yummy desserts like brownies, cookies cheese cake etc. There are veggies, fruits trays with dips, spinach dip with bread. So good. There is a flower shop there, public washroom. Prices are good, people very nice, helpful. It's very clean and organized. Also they do picture cakes to order. I believe it takes a couple weeks notice to order cake. You should go if you haven't gone there. It is very helpful for people to get lunch there or if you just want to pick up dinner.

As far as going in the store, we have gone a handful of times but leave quite anxious. Don’t let this huge store fool you with stocked items....... this store cannot obviously order enough or even keep sale items correctly stocked.......1 day into sale.... shelves completely empty and management doesn’t reinsure you on when items will be stocked again. This has happened too many times now. Instead of being pro-active, just too many students working there with eye rolls. Went to get groceries today Upper James Fortinos and only 1 person working on checkout, the self serve checkout with several people in line????. Unacceptable! The store was open 1.5 hours at that point there should have been someone on regular cash not self serve. Since I feel like putting my 2 cents worth, it would also be nice if that same store could move the large shelf between the Lotto and Flower shop. It's like a pilon restricting the flow of people trying to get out of the store. I've seen it hit so many times.

Terrible manager/supervisor at the flower center. I purchased a specific bouquet of flowers to be wrapped, due to a few bright blue flowers. Nice, clean, well stocked store. It is consistently more expensive than SuperStore for the same exact products (same brand). The store has a higher-end feel with a large variety of ready to eat food in its food court. There an impressive (wood fire? or gas?) pizza/ bread oven with a good selection of bread. The walnut fig is phenomenal! You can buy a slice or order a really good made to order pizza. There is a deli, fresh meat, and fresh fish counter. All in all, a pleasant shopping experience if a little pricey.

All the staff there are super friendly and helpful! The person who cleans the carts at the door said hello and goodbye with a big smile on her face each time I passed. The girl in the produce section went out of her way to find me a product that was not on the shelf. The cashier was super friendly, asked me how I want my groceries bagged, so as not to damage anything or create cross-contamination. She offered some very useful information and advice and seemed to genuinely love her job. When I put all my groceries into my car, I turned around to return my cart and there was already an associate running up to me, cheerfully offering to return my cart for me. I like the Upper James Rymal road location because I can usually get a disabled parking spot near the doors which means I can get in and out quickly. I find the staff very friendly and helpful. There's a wide variety of fresh produce and the bakery section Carrie's some gluten free baked goods.
