Such a great atmosphere and some pretty interesting items stocked you may not find elsewhere. Produce and meat has great selection and is super reasonably priced - and the deli items are delicious. Such a great place!

The Rootcellar consistently provides an excellent shopping experience: great selection, great staff, great energy and, for someone like me with limited culinary creativity, GREAT suggestions for a last-minute meal filled with love. I'm excited for the second location to open soonest - keep on doing your thing Rootcellar, I love it!

Wow! This place is a great addition to the Cook Street Village. Fresh fruit and vegetables at truly affordable prices. Great variety in other grocery products and very friendly staff.

I was thrilled the Root Cellar opened this location closer to my home. Been there 3 times, and was disappointed in the obvious lack of freshness on the stock (first 2 times were pre-flood). Lots of moldy and wilting items, a shame really but hopefully they will be more mindful of this in the future and stock fresher goods/sort through.

A recent addition to the Cook Street Village ("replacing" Oxford Foods). Top notch produce, well organized, helpful staff. A pleasant shopping experience.

Check it out!

Those bulk bins are a little low to the ground, I can't imagine that working in the long run especially for the older folks. $10 hummus, cheap bell peppers. Its ok lol

Went today for their grand opening! Absolutely lovely store with 1hr free parking in the back. Great high quality products including many local items. No coffee bar at this one as it’s a tad smaller then their other location. Great prices on veg & fruit. Nice layout. So happy too see another location open up close to home.

I first visited the Root Cellar in Cook Street in the evening. The warm glow from all of their windows, and all that fresh produce beaming in the light was the most welcoming sight. I love the way their are so many touches that are reminiscent of the flagship Mackenzie store, but everything urbanized to give it a bit more sophistication and style. The offerings are similar at both stores, and all of my favourites are there from green sauce to rotisserie chicken, to butter chicken and peruvian chicken sausages, and a produce section like no other in the vicinity. I will be back time and time again.

It seems like a smaller store than Oxfords, but baskets instead of carts would help keep the place more open. I'll pop in every once and a while and try to grab some local produce, as it's too expensive as a one-stop shop.

OXFORD FOODS FOREVER!!! If the new owners would please not change this iconic store, it serves the locals with exactly what we all want and need. Best prices and a great selection. Please don't drive us away by high priced items. Thank you. PS -- One star only for Root Cellar which is way overpriced for all food items, cannot afford, coming from a Cook St. senior citizen and longtime resident.

A beautiful new store in the village! I am so glad to come here for my weekly shop and browse the wonderful produce and delicious grocery items. Very happy to have much easier access to the legendary green sauce!

Great choice of fresh fruits and veggies, but on the pricey side

So glad to finally have a Root Cellar in the neighbourhood! What a perfect addition to the Cook St Village. I love the values The Root Cellar brings, and their team has proven knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, they have GREEN SAUCE ;) I am especially looking forward to the grab&go options for my Dallas Road sunset stops. I can't wait for you to open your doors to see what loveliness you've curated this time.

I’m thrilled that the Root Cellar is opening a location in Cook Street Village. It has long been the most reasonable place for fresh produce but the drive out was problematic. Thank you!

Welcome to our neighbourhood

The Root Cellar is a fantastical experience, with their emphasis on local quality foods, unique products and store set-up - a great costumer experience. We take all Victoria visitors to RC and look forward to having one even closer to our home.

I shop weekly at the RC on McKenzie and am very excited for their second location to open up, as it's much closer. I love shopping there because they always have a huge selection of locally-sourced fruits and vegetables at great prices, the customer service is excellent, and they are owned by a local family who cares and gives a lot back to the community. PS - The Root Cellar green sauce (that goes on almost everything!) is legendary.

The store hasn't even opened and already has 3 negative reviews ????. We all loved Oxford foods and are sad to see it gone, especially to another high priced establishment. Liked the convience of walking half a block to buy missing ingredients and not paying a ridiculous amount. Now the only options are two ridiculously expensive grocery stores. Sad sad

I go out of my way to shop at the RC weekly because I'm in love with so many of their delicious products, but it's their business practices and dedication to everything local that have earned my utmost respect.I'm soooo excited about this second location!

It is amazing to have a Root Cellar location near me again. This location has done a great job of sourcing options despite the limited space (good selection of GF/Celiac Options). The quality of products offered is excellent and the establishment is beating the pricing of other locations in the village area (on food staples) by 10-20%. It is amazing to have a "one stop shop" for all of the local farms and food providers. This will happily be my main grocery store for the foreseeable future.

Beautifully designed with all the fresh produce and specialty food items I'm looking for. I cannot wait for the Root Cellar to open In Cook Street Village. I currently make the trek to the Mckenzie location as the produce is the best in the city and the experience of shopping there is special and far and above any other grocer. Plus, all the incredibly delicious sauces made in house and the specialty vegan and gluten free items keep me returning again and again!

Kalia Leslie

Love this store! Had live music the other day. How great is that ❣️ awesome food! Awesome service! Can't wait for the Cook Street location to open -- next week-- woohoo!

Produce prices seem pretty good which will make a lot of people in this neighborhood happy. Almost a year without a grocery store has been a total bummer. I'm a little disappointed in the selection and prices of non-produce items. It would be great to have a store nearby with decent juice/milk alternative/cheese alternative prices like we had at our old grocery store, Oxfood Foods. But no. As for selection, many of the things in this store could already be bought at our other two health food stores.

Tim Flavel

First impressions walking into Cook St location looks like they sell nothing but produce. $8.99 for a sandwich with a thin slice of meat and a bit of lettuce is absolutely ridiculous. On the plus side the cashier was friendly and professional.

Deborah Chambers

More expensive than Thrifty's if that's possible

Liam Sawford

Meh.

Over priced hype! What we need is a one stop shop. Still have to go to thriftys for most things so might as well go there!

I recently visited the new location of The Root Cellar, and I loved it! They carry a great range of local products, carefully selected. I was impressed with the layout and decor, such a great taste! The live music was a great added touch. The house-made sauces are to die for, the carrots were delicious. When visiting Victoria, the Root Cellar is a must stop!

Long lines at the tills and doesn't seem to be much staff. Much prefer Mckenzie location
