We come here quite often for Asian foods.Living in Nanaimo you are limited to what you can buy. There is a Fairway Market in Nanaimo but it as well stocked as this one in Victoria.

Since they made changes to the salad bar..i do not like the store much anymore..the one whom takin care of that departement ..she is sort of mean and rude..twice i went shopping for fruit salad ..the new one worker at the departement(salad bar)did reorganised the food items differently and last time i went for ..it was no strawberries for my fruit salad..she told me strait up ..it cost to much with a rude tone...in the past(before her to be there working)i always ,at any chances i had ..i was buying a variety of fruits for my fruit salade ,at the salad bar and i was buying for close $10.00 worth of it also i was buying lettuce and stuff for make up a good salad for myself...i am not at all interested anymore to make a stop(detour)for my fruit salad at the departement.

You can find almost all Asian products here. I used to shop from Fairway very often until one time I bought so dried seaweed to make some soup. When I had the soup, I chewed something that was chewy, bitter and weird, turned out that was a piece of used cigarette. That was disgusting and I had to throw away my dinner and of course the seaweed package. I tried to avoid shop there unless I couldn’t find the ingredients I need where else. My point is it’s totally okay to buy groceries there but you’ll need to watch for products that were made in China/PRC.

Fairway Market is likely, the Victoria grocery store chain with the most diverse range of international food products. The store sells the usual choice of fruit and vegetables, with the addition of a much larger than usual, selection of Asian produce. This particular Fairway Market store includes a salad bar and an Asian hot foods bar. The store has a small eating area, comprised of a number of small tables and a row of stools. The meals can also be packed for take out purposes.

Closest store we'll have on the island that's like T&T Supermarkets in Vancouver. Has an enormous prepared food/deli section, as well as a great selection of ethnic foods. Store is very big and well maintained too. Love shopping at this location.

It's actually a pretty good grocery store. They have the best produce selection in the city, and put on a lot of good promotions. I've scored the craziest deals on steaks there time and time again. So if you want to eat healthy and save money too, I'd say it's a pretty good option. Yes there are better butcher shops at one place, and better deli at another, but for just an all around good grocery store I give it 5 stars. They have a pretty good selection of flowers and plants that are very reasonably priced too.

Ok place. Nice to have some variety close by that no other stores offer. I only have one complaint so far and that is the dirty carrying baskets for your groceries. I don't know how often or how they clean them if at all. But after looking at the bottom of the basket I picked up yesterday evening I was disgusted to say the least. I don't want any of my food touching that filth whether there is a barrier between it or not. Nothing short of a double bag around all my items would allow me the comfort to shop with the unknown bacteria and or viruses that are likley in those baskets. It is visibly dirty. Please get a powerwasher and or use a disinfectant or something. I'm not a germaphobe. But this makes me cringe.

They have a massive selection but I usually only go for the grocery and canned goods. Their meat quality and their are so-so at best. They are part of a region wide ban on shopping bags. If you need more than one item, plan accordingly or shop in nearby Saanich. The bank card machines at the cash registers have not been replaced in very long time according to staff. As a consequence, cashiers have walk you through holding your card with one finger while keying your code and options with your other hand. Cashiers have said that management will not buck up for new machines, so the bank cards will fail most of the time. Thrifty's is just up the street and they have working Interac devices. If you have a bank card, avoid the Fairways on Quadra.

Fairway has some great Asian groceries. The Asian produce is pretty fresh, though the green papayas are often overripe. I'm not complaining though as it's better than nothing. Beats having to go to Victoria or Vancouver just for some dried shrimp, or Korean pepper flakes. Thanks Fairway for doing alright. Would be good if you upped your fresh chili ????️ game though. Maybe even get some habaneros?

Fairway market is a solid grocery store offering an impressive range of variety for its size for almost everyone. A huge plus for this place is the take and eat food. They have a kitchen that offers good breakfast at a great price and acceptable Chinese food beyond that. You can take it into your own hands with the salad bar that has multiple affordable options. They also have a good variety of soups, drinks, and bubble teas you can get. I sometimes swing by for a quick and satisfying lunch or snag one of the great deals they have. They mix it up frequently for the unique specials so I always check to make sure I'm not missing out on a deal. Some downside is that it does get higher volumes via the mall and sometimes their provided seating for customers can be a bit dirty. The food can also be hit or miss depending on the day I find so I stick with the salad bar for some consistency but sometimes some products are not available or have run out at the bar. A but more maintenance and quality control would make this place fantastic.

As many of you may know from my reviews of sushi restaurants, I love fish. This is the best store for buying fish I have found so far. Due to Covid restrictions, I have not had nearly the exploration of Victoria I was hoping for. Between store closures, social distancing recommendations, loss of personal transportation, my range has been limited to where I can walk. I discovered this little fish gem shortly after arriving in Victoria. Individual portions of a whole variety of fish can be found at very reasonable and affordable prices. My other high value protein is chicken. This is another item that is very reasonably priced most of the time. Food shopping is a breeze for my individual dietary requirements without breaking my budget. Sale priced items are great here, and I would recommend using the store for immediate fresh fish, fresh chicken options, Asian style cooked duck, and pre-Covid had the BEST salad bar options I have ever seen! I do not recommend this grocer for an average family of 4 as a primary food store. Overall, shopping for dry goods, canned goods, etc, you will get better value for your money at a bigger store that has bigger purchasing base. Isles are narrow, not everyone practices social distancing recommendations or wears masks, but there are actual employees who are engaging, friendly and helpful. Staff is very well trained in positive customer service and traffic flow has been made efficient and effective since Covid.

Can't say I'd recommend going to the deli/ Chinese kitchen. When I go there, the food is always great. I can't say I'd complain, although the atmosphere feels very toxic. The tall, white, big guy who wears the bandana, is constantly swearing, glaring and ignoring health/food safety standards. I have felt very uncomfortable being served by that man, I'm unsure of his name but I wouldn't want him to serve me again. Other than the worker, the prices are great and the selection is always generous to the consumer.

Can be a bit pricey but it's got a good selection, a tendency towards the harder-to-find ethnic groceries, and some really delicious in-house food. I can honestly say that their Chinese food is the only Chinese I regularly seek out. I don't actually like Chinese so that's saying a lot. Their mac'n'cheese is also super good (I pair it with their barbecue pork for an unusual but indulgent treat!). This place is also the only one which I've found to have my favourite sour soothers candy. I swear most grocery chains have gone to a knock-off brand now or something...

Of all the Fairways stores, this one is the best. It is centrally located and has plenty of parking. On the inside, it has everything and more. The kitchen makes up fabulous ready to eat foods. Breakfast is made fresh to order for an inexpensive amount. The salad bar is fresh and well-stocked. Also this shop specializes in Asian products unavailable in other places. The European import selection is pretty good as well.

This is been one of my secret Nanaimo gems because I can get ethnic foods I can't find anywhere else. There's always a great selection of regular and organic produce plus an entire Asian greens section in addition to the regular grocery items. This is based on many experiences with improper dated items over three years. I live across the street from the Quadra location and unfortunately they have horrid customer service for regular shoppers. Returned bad meat only to find it on the shelf the next day . Went for a different name brand and had the same issue. Confronted a manager and received a very insincere reaction to how it was handled. Bakery department usually has no idea is what in side item when asked. Moldy English muffins, constant expiry date issues, I understand the industry and what people go through but as one who just wants a place to shop, close to home , that has continuity in its services is really not so much to ask .

Visited the bakery in this location several times. First time, the man serving food while kept talking to his coworker, as if the conversation was so crucial that he had to use every second to talk. Gross even if he was wearing a cloth mask, he was still talking on the food. Another time, came about 5pm and no one serving the bakery section. A girl doing other chores came by and kindly helped me. Need to enforce foodsafe standards and enough staff in the bakery department. Update - always loved visiting this store, for the Asian food and bakeries and especially the friendly and cheerful cashier girl who always wears bright unique earrings. Sadly I will stop visiting at least for now; the social distancing was not well maintained at all the last time I visited, other shoppers would came right beside me or pass behind me while I was still picking up groceries. The aisles are narrow but people could've kept the distance and wait for their turn, but many didn't. A person even tried to enter the store without mask, spotted by staff and intervened. Not feeling safe to come shopping when there are 1000 new cases PER DAY in BC with so many careless shoppers.

I bought refrigerated daifuku mochi, but there was no expiry date put on the packages I noticed when I got home. I phone them and the very kind cashier puts me through to John, or someone, who is responsible for sticking that isle. He goes and finds out, and tells me that they were taken out of the freezer yesterday and stocked, so they should be good for 3 or 4 days. But the negligence of not labeling an expiry date on a perishable item, like milk, worries me. When cooked rice goes off, it can make you sick. I told him that he needs to label things like this, and he yelled at me that he's going to do it. But seriously....this is pretty bad...who knows how old it really is.

Fish section looked fresh, lots of west coast offerings. The Asian/Chinese food hot take out showed lots of interest from the appearance of the line. I found the price tags and labeling a bit confusing at times, hard to understand the discount sale pricing.

Absolutely the best selection of Asian & Chinese groceries in Victoria, the only place you can buy the 1.14L bottle of Kimlan soy sauce, which I find is the very best in all respects. Kimlan is one brand amongst the 15+ they carry. The great variety of produce is always best quality; it's one of a few meat markets that has chicken backs, pork neck bones, and other soup stock at a good price. There is also an excellent selection of spices, condiments, and other exotic flavourings to complete your culinary cabinet supplies.

When I stayed in Victoria, this was the closest supermarket to me and it was overall just okay. I'm a regular superstore, whole foods and Costco shopper at home and I found this company to be quite a bit more expensive and the produce to be the least fresh that I have seen it anywhere. The cashiers are relatively slow here, only the young ones truly get you through quickly, all the others just sorta plod along. The nice thing about this place is the fresh/pick your own deli department they have and the Chinese take-out portion which is relatively cheap and pretty tasty!

One oblivious plus is their ability to sell hot cooked chinese food at affordable prices. A salad bar pick your selection for the vegetarian and it's sold by weight in per 100 grams. Recently purchased a 4L jug of Sunrise soya milk with a $2 off red label. Returned home to find it rancid & had to return product to get refund. Actually 2nd experience in buying mark down items. Lesson learned cheap yes but quality downgraded is to be expected.

Its really close to where I live so I love how convenient it is to go there. I think they could work a bit harder regarding the freshness of their produce, but for the most part this location is quite enjoyable. Their meats are generally great. Sometimes I have seen cheaper prices elsewhere but I find quite a few of the cashiers are really nice so I don't mind spending a little bit more sometimes.

I recently moved here from the mainland and was used to shopping at T&T market. I find fairway very expensive to shop at. I am on a fixed income and when I can get a product for half the price somewhere else. I noticed this right away when I bought some of the hot to go food. fairways gives you half the portion that you would get on the mainland and priced more as well. Personally, I wait until the flyer comes out befor I go there for sales items and they do offer meat/chicken/pork at a reduced rate when it is a day old. Allmost makes me wish there was a T&T Market over here.

I have shopped at this fairways for over 7 years.. I'm Disgusted by the way I was stopped by a plain clothed security guard during the height of the covid 19 pandemic...He detained me based on "an employee thought he saw something in the meat dept." I was made to stand in one spot for over 5 minutes, crowds of customers going back and forth in front of me and I was not allowed to move until he figured out what was going on..Then he told me if I didn't want to stand there I could leave the store without my groceries.. I demanded several times for a reason, and since they didn't have one, they finally let me go....I finished my shopping and didn't go back for a month.. I have never been so publicly humiliated in my life...SHAME on them, and SHAME ON MANAGEMENT FOR NOT RETURNING MY CALL.

Great international grocery store with great prices. This is my favorite place to shop for groceries in Nanaimo. The ramen section is awesome. You can find many hard-to-find items like Halva. Shopping in this store is like shopping at Whole Foods in Nanaimo but it isn't as expensive.

I bought a Non Lactose Half and half that was not expired by date and when i went to open it the next morning it was spoiled, naturally i go to the store to let them know that the Half and Half was bad and to get an Exchange, The Chinese lady at Customer service gave me the Dirtiest look as if i was asking her something personal and Told me there was nothing wrong with Half and Half because the bottle said it wasn't expired by date, Maybe before telling a customer they are wrong she should check the product first and then argue if she wants. either way the grocery store has the WORST customer service and maybe should check their Dairy products.

One star not for the cashier i felt bad for her she did her best. But for the dumb manager that wouldn't split my return because it exceeded 40$ from 100$ then refused to split the return tho the full bill was 400+$ had to return for allergies an was going to put the 100$ towards some student books needed. SO FYI CHECK ALLERGIES BEFOR SPENDING MORE THAN 60$ @fairways. Im never shopping here again . I do understand why, but for the way i was looked at an treated not fair.

Solid Asian food selection with good quality ready to eat meals and snacks. Meat dept is passable but nothing special price or quality wise. The produce variety is above average but as with most Asian markets should be used within a few days. Fruit and veggies are generally ripe and flavorful but being picked later means shorter shelf lives.

This is a very nice grocery and produce store sells variety of day to day home and food requirements. They also have freshly cooked food corner, it is best deal for the portion v/s price. They have good sea food and chicken collection mostly we don't find this kind of variety in other big stores. Ideally located in the North town center mall on Highland Highway access through Rutherford road. Plenty of Free parking. Excellent location to do other errands after or before doing grocery shopping.

I quite like shopping at Fairway's. There is great selection of produce, especially Asian produce, and they have cheap, affordable prices. Probably due to their spot in the wholesale auction sometimes the produce isn't as fresh as it can be, but with that caveat in mind this is a great place to shop. I also quite like the Quadra Village vibe. Just regular people like me, shopping for food.

Fairway Market.... When your in a pinch and need to pick something up fast it's a great place. Their fresh food is the best your going to find quickly in Quadra Village. The vegetables and meat selection could definitely use some work but the Asian selection is one of the best I've found in such a close proximity to my house. Definitely keep an eye on prices as many of their items can be found much cheaper other places.

This is the best of the Fairways' chain. The location, parking avaliability, the food court, the salad bar, the bakery dept., international selections, wide variety of oriental imports and at least 5 - 6 open cashier tills all the time. Great produce though meat and seafood is limited as compared with their competitor stores. Customer service counter always has at least two associates to serve you. Recently I had an unpleasant experience purchasing 2 jugs of mark down soya milk thinking it was a good deal. Within minutes I was outside the parking lot opening the seal to drink but was horrified that the milk had cogulated & foamy. Open 2nd. jug, identical problem I appraoched customer service for refund which they did and than they checked all the markdown jugs same problem on the cooler shelves. Too bad. So lesson learned markdowns may not be a deal after all! Next a major downside is there are no public rest room.

This Fairway Market has an excellent selection of local, and ethnic foods for good prices. I've found some prices to even beat Thrifty's on occasion, especially sale items. It's best to double check for yourself first though. Seeing how the economy's state of flux causes prices to change without much warning, but that's the same for any business; not just grocery stores.

Oh my. My partner and I loved going to QF for Chinese food. We usually go a few times a month, if not more. My partner was talking with someone at work and QF chinese food came up. The guy he was talking to suggested trying the chinese food at Fairway Market, so we did. The food was so good at Fairway Market!! Way more selection of dishes, better tasting, higher quality food and its $2 cheaper! The portions are a little smaller but I never finished anyways. The chicken balls are amazing. Perfect chicken to breading ratio. I also tried the white fish and tofu, it was delicious. Won't be going back to QF for chinese dinner after trying Fairway.

What a horrific experience it is to shop here during the COVID-19 pandemic! Fairway, are you trying to enforce social distancing or not? Because on the one hand there are all these lines on the floor, in tape, indicating where customers are supposed to go. And then on the other hand you have your own staff running around, getting in customers' faces, even physically brushing against me at one point. Why aren't the staff wearing masks, by the way? You realize they put us at just as much risk as we do them. Why are you telling your customers to stick to strict guidelines when your own staff are flying in the face of them? It's appalling really. The whole thing adds up to being pointless. I've put up with all of this during my past couple of trips, but today I was actually harrassed by one of your staff while browsing an aisle, demanding that people "get out of my aisle as quickly as possible". I saw him give another shopper the exact same treatment after me. I shop here because it is in my neighbourhood and I have limited transportation options. At this point, there is no other reason.
