We have been regular shoppers at the Crown Isle Courtenay location since it opened. First off, it's a very attractive store which helps make browsing and selecting products easier and you are more likely to wander around and try something interesting. Signage is clear, product prices are on the front of the shelf, and because they constantly bring in new products, those are also clearly identified. Their staff are very knowledgeable and super friendly so if you want advice on a wine/food pairing, beer styles, cocktail recipes, or a suitable gift, they can help or get a product expert to assist. They have contests with cool giveaways, and in non-pandemic times they have inexpensive classes about things like ciders, whiskeys, cocktail mixing and craft beers. One other thing that I appreciate is that they dedicate a great deal of their store shelf space to BC made products which is great if you like to support local breweries, distilleries and wineries. Throughout the year they sell special seasonal items like beer advent calendars, beverages for romantic occasions near Valentine's, etc. You can sign up for a loyalty card and their newsletter which can give you savings and advance notice of workshops and specials.

Moved to Courtenay last year and have loved coming to this shop! Until today when my husband and I were I.D’d , (*32/ 48 yrs old) which is weird but fine enough. We had a giggle about it and gave up our drivers licenses. But we had just come from work and I didn’t have my full wallet just my driver license and bank card, which is a temporary and didn’t have a name on it, so even though my husband had two pieces and was actually the one buying the items, she refused us service. We spend about $60/ week there on average in our house and I will NEVER spend another dime in there again! Later!

Good selection and friendly staff. "cold" areas aren't. Anything in the coolers is barely below ambient temperature. I'd just go to the bcl if I wanted to wait for the beer to cool down. Spend the extra couple bucks and cool the beverages properly.

Great selection but the positive atmosphere they try desperately to maintain is so forced and fake, talk to me like a person not a potential secret shopper. I find it creepy that the employees are forced to say hello to every single person that walks in the door and that they run towards you when you head to the counter so they can beat you there. To me a store is a store whether you sell liquor or beer or any other kind of drinks. My visit today is colorful although I didn't buy anything. I like looking around inside to see what's new. I find the bottles very beautiful. The names of the products are unique. The colors of the drinks are vibrant. The staff are welcoming and active to offer help to customer like Me. Over all, The store is very organized which is 5 stars or more. My advice to people is that you can drink but make sure your not loosing your complete vision. Drink is a way of relaxation but use wisdom and control. You can drink but don't be drunk. Its better not to be drunk because it is a wise thing to do. Enjoy the rest of the summer! We’re talking Ile Sauvage (most vast selection we’ve found), Bellwoods Brewery, Blood Brothers (sadly, they were out of stock of their paradise lost), Storm Brewery to Cascade Brewery, The Ale Apothecary, Jester King Brewery and much, much more. Local BC ciders included The BX Press, Scenic Road, Nomad, Salt Spring Wild Cider, Sea Cider, Soma Craft Cidery, Summerland Heritage Cider, Windfall Cider and Valley Cider. Must stop for the craft beer and cider geeks.
