I went in to the store to pick up three items and walked up to the express till which had no lineup...I put my items down and was approached by a young lady who said I had to go to the other end of the store and lineup; I said no as I would have been gone in ten seconds but NO....I was approached by a group of your employees that caused a scene in front of other customers, insulting me and grouping up like a gang and surrounding me yelling; the instigator was an older women with dark hair (pony tail I believe) and glasses, she escalated the situation unnecessarily telling the cashier not to serve me and caused a problem that wasn't there. I have never felt so threatened and intimidated by going to a grocery store. I am a Chinese Canadian who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and this incident caused me to react in a manner that I try to avoid; ganging up, bullying, intimidation is no way to run a business; as you can see by the review I have attached below, this is an ongoing problem that needs to be addressed. I have never been so insulted or treated so poorly by a Safeway employee as this morning. There were NO marked signs when you approach tills from the Deli saying to line up somewhere. I was screamed and yelled at by a customer at the other end of the store. Your cashier corrected her and said 'no signs anymore directing customers'. So I returned to my till. More yelling and screaming from her, but this time also from an employee of yours, she approached yelling at me to lineup opposite side of the store. Yelling at me that I'm a 'TYPICAL MAN'. Real classy store, real classy employees Chilliwack. Get your signs up, get your signs straight, stop hiring 55+ angry employees.

It's a good store. Staff are usually pretty friendly and the store is well kept. They have a quiet hour that was on Thursday nights from 6-7 when they dim the lights slightly and quiet the music for those who struggle with the sensory input of a busy store. Love their willingness to do this for customers.

I would like to bring to your attention, an experience I had at the Safeway on Luckackuck Way in Chilliwack on February 18 at approximately 5 pm. I parked in the parking lot at the main entrance using handicapped parking. I have difficulties in my mobility that can cause me a great deal of pain. I used my cane, and went into the store to pick up a few things on the way home. To my dismay, I immediately noted, that once again, very few tills were open and those that were, were the tills at the opposite end of the store from the main entrance. I selected my few items and stood in line at the express cashier. The longer I waited, the more I hurt and by the time I paid for my purchases, I had resolved to let the powers that be know of my issue within the store. I completed a comment card at the customer service counter and asked the person behind the counter where I should deposit the card. She was very friendly and initially stated that I could deposit it in their mailbox or I could just leave it with her and she would be happy to pass it on. I gave it to her and told her I wanted to let her know as well so she could possibly pass on my concerns “further up the chain”. I pointed out that although their handicapped parking was at the main entrance of the store, the purpose of that parking was defeated when the only tills open were at the opposite end of the store. The exchange went something like this: CSR: But all our till are accessible. You can use any till you wish. Me: But not all the registers are open. Only the ones at the far end are available. CSR: You could use till 6 if you like. It is also accessible. Me: No. I think you are missing my point. I feel like I walk 150 miles just to pick up a few items because I have to walk through the entire store to pay for my purchases. CSR: You could use the mall entrance as it is closer to the tills at that end. Me: You are not getting it. The further I walk, the more I hurt. (By now I am holding up my cane so I can be sure she sees it) CSR: But isn’t there parking at that end too? Me: No….it is further away from the doors. I just don’t understand why only these tills are open. Why can’t there be one or two tills open, closer to the main doors? CSR: I really don’t know. I will pass on what you have said although I don’t know what good it will do. ________________________________________________ Seriously? OK so here is the point. I have a disability. I should not have to explain even that but….what is the point of having handicapped parking near the door to supposedly assist disabled people and give them better access to your store, when once inside, the distance is so great to even be able to pay for the purchases and then make it back outside to where the car is parked. Now, if someone would like an advocate to walk through the store with management and point out the shortcomings, keeping in mind people with mobility issues, I raise my hand to volunteer. Come on people. Think!

Safeway has the best selection of fresh convenience platters ie)veggies, cheese, meats as well as pre-made convenience salads. This location has a Starbucks, and is adjunct to other shopping amenities in a central Sardis location. They do not have a branded gas station, but give out gas savings coupons...the closest is in Mission, which has a Safeway gas, but shut the store down for a Freshco conversion.

The Friday before Valentines day my boyfriend has arranged flowers to be delivered to my work (awww how sweet lol) I guess they were supposed to be delivered in the morning but didn't arrive till the afternoon, which is understandable with flower deliveries before valentines. BUT....... the floral department went above and beyond , not only did the lady keep apologizing when they were dropped off but they themselves sent a card and chocolates. Normally I wouldn't review a Safeway, but the staff were all so rude, or untrained I had to leave something. Every time I tried to get help the staff treated me like I was trying to ruin their day. Eyes rolling, sighs, the whole deal. When someone finally came to help us, after someone who was rude sent them because they said they couldn't help, the person they sent had to call another person to help as they didn't even know how to run a till.

I really do love Safeway because of the selection that they have and just the atmosphere itself, its the complete opposite of Walmart that's for sure. A prolonging death of Safeway Overpricing of food.. buy outs.. and closure's to get out of paying unions.. to get people to work under 40hr weeks so they need not pay health and dental... The company looking out for the overhead and not the employee.... I'm not sure when but Safeway will be bought out.. and or go under..either way it's just when

Very unprofessional staff will charge you for their mistakes. I ordered a sandwich and was not told about extra charges for red peppers until afterwards. The lady that made my sandwich didn't want to charge me for them (rightfully as that would be illegal) but another employee named Cookie rudely ordered her to charge me for it anyways. I'm not going to stand in a store and argue over a dollar and I'm not going to waste my time shopping at a store that blames their own mistakes on their customers. I also didn't even find the way Cookie treated her co-worker was polite or professional. People make mistakes but to treat a coworker with that level of contempt. She did make sure the other lady took her break though, because Cookie "takes her lunch at 1:30" and I guess that takes priority over dignity.

Like previous review states....poor clean practices, I never witness any cleaning of debit machines in between customers so thankfully I was wearing gloves and I sanitize those gloves often, in just ONE store....automatically throw away right after. Today I purchase a rotisserie chicken, got home super excited to eat for dinner with the fam and low and behold a roasted FLY in my daughters piece, as we had all started eating it...needless to say we lost our appetite to further eating. I called the store and was immediately talked down to, showed no concern whatsoever and when i asked if I could send a photo to them i was told there was no way she was giving me their email and I needed to make the drive from Harrison mills to bring the chicken back. I said sure! when i come into town next which i leave weekly and could I just leave it in my garage til then? I was then demanded to bring it in now if I want to do anything about it, if not nothing can be done, no email will be given to file a report to the store. Sure seems that customer service is second to none today. Nasty Nasty Nasty experience, wont be returning to this store again.

Great service, good selection, has decent sales, I like this one over the downtown one mainly because the vibe is more welcoming but I understand that is likely due to the crime downtown has and theft they have to deal with - the downtown store that is... my main issue is sometimes the brown bread - whole wheat bread is tough crust on too many loaves but love their bagels... I only wish that they would bring back the Chocolate Chip bagel... I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this...

Terrible line up situation!! They make you line up close to the floral department, then don’t control it when random shoppers skip the line because they didn’t know there was a lineup!! You end up standing in line longer! Won’t shop there again.

I love safeway ...but when I recently purchased 3 ribeyes from the butcher they were terrible. I asked twice for my money back but apparently they can only accept your money but no refunds. Totally disappointed with customer service.
