The prices correct but more expensive than in the hexagon even if I take the nameless I spend more than $ 20 with not much (only products of necessity and not useless things). But it's not just about them, it's general here. Overall satisfied with my visit and PEI Island which although I could not travel as much as I would have wished in Canada is very nice. Les prix corrects mais plus chers que dans l'hexagone même si je prends les sans nom je dépense vite plus de 20$avec pas grand chose (que des produits de nécessité et pas de choses inutiles). Mais il n'y a pas que chez eux, c'est général ici. Globalement satisfait de mon passage et de l'île PEI qui même si je n'ai pas pu voyager autant que j'aurais souhaité au Canada est très agréable.

Ill leave this here in hopes it will go where it needs to. I was at Independent 2 days ago and the blonde woman "manning the door", (because she was nowhere to be found), was anything but respectful toward me. What happened: Upon my arrival there was no employee around. I even scanned the area because I shop enough to expect employees at doors these days. I also expect sanitizing stations. This being said, and the fact that I am respectful to both myself and others, AND the fact that I can read the signs right in front of me, we had all our bases covered! I sanitized my hands without her help. In fact, this time I stood there quite a bit longer than necessary! This time I tried to determine the difference between the two homemade looking sanitizers, one being pink and the other one clear. I actually took the time to read both labels, and then finally chose and I moved along. Another shopper comes in, and finally your employee comes around and yells rudely at my back while I'm in the veggies, (and in front of this other shopper) that I have to sanitize my hands before shopping...as if she watched me barge in and walk right around it with her own eyes?!. I'm absolutely humiliated and shocked at this point. I told her I already had, and her disbelief in that was made extremely obvious in both her verbal and non verbal response. I wound up offering to resanitize in front of her to make her feel better. Now I know times are weird and stressful, and that businesses feel pressure to meet standards. But I'm expected to be, and naturally am respectful in spite of it all. As an employee I expect her to hold up her end of that bargain and maintain a level of respect too. I'm not sure her history, but she may need to be either retrained or refreshed on how to appropriately handle talking to a customer, as well as how to properly man a station so she won't accuse and embarrass people in the future. Unfortunately I'll be going out of my way not to shop here again.

Visiting the island early on in the Atlantic bubble.. was getting a few groceries there (as we have done many times in years before). I went into the store sanitized my hands and then remembered I needed reusable bags that were in the car. Left, got them and the re-entered the store. I was then yelled at several times by a fanatic employee because I walked by the hand sanitizer. She was not the police... There was no need. As she yelled at me I watched many others (locals probably) walk right by the sanitizer and she said nothing to them. I was then paranoid the entire time I was getting groceries that she was going to chase me down and yell at me for something else. I get it... People are frightened of the virus... Rules are all over the place... Calm down though!

Seems every time I go to this store...it's nothing but poor customer service. I don't often write bad reviews...and always glad to give great ones to local businesses deserving them! The Independent Store in Cornwall certainly needs to work on their customer service skills! Was there today and requested my groceries to be bagged in paper. They were not...and once I paid for my order...the cashier shoved my cart of unbagged groceries to a table at the side...and no bags. I indicated I asked for bags...she gave me 2. I was irritated as it was at her service. I bagged what I could then put the rest loosely in the back of my Jeep. I will not be returning. Not to mention mandatory masks...the Independent store in Kensington is not mandatory...so why the inconsistency? And the staff are incredibly polite and helpful. Cornwall...get your act together! Terrible customer service. This is just one issue of many!

They refuse to carry paper bags. I try to remember my reusable bags. But they're gauging people who forget. They threatened to phone the police if I took the basket to my car. Had to make three trips. I'll just drive to Sobeys next time. Pretty bad prices and selection as well.
