I travel north to south island and back frequently. Duncan Bay General Store has the best fried chicken on Vancouver Island, hands down. It's better than Chicken 649 or Thunderbird in Victoria. There are some poor reviews here, but all of my experiences have been excellent. Maybe I just have the timing right for arriving when the chicken and mojos are fresh?

My husband just ordered fried chicken and mojos and brought it home. It tasted like it had been sitting out all day. Dried out and undesirable. Too bad, as it used to be our favourite place to get fried chicken in town.

Worst weird experience ever. I pulled up to get diesel and I had to do a pre-authorization for fuel, which is fine. After 10 minutes of pumping gas, I was only at $10. I gave up and went in the store and told the clerk that something must have been wrong with the pump. Apparently, she forgot to tell me the trick to get the diesel to come out fast. No sign up at pump, either? I told her I would grab a coffee while I was there. By the time I got to the counter with my coffee and apple fritter, she has already closed off my sale. I said I had never had anyone close off my sale prior to arriving at the counter. So, I couldn't purchase the gum I also had unless I paid again. Then I noticed my apple fritter was frozen. So I used the microwave, which was very very dirty. Honestly, I would never stop again. The place gives me the creeps.

Wow the cashier definitely woke up on the wrong side, so abrupt and rude in how she spoke to me and it was my first time stopping by......won't be going back unless I have to! She needs to learn about first impressions and what customer service is

Great little gas station with cheap gas! The pumps were really old and cool and, I think, were turbo charged ($50 of gas in less then a min!!!). The lady behind the counter was super helpful and super friendly. I never thought I'd be writing a review of a gas station but ... wow! :-)

BEWARE! DON'T GAS UP HERE: I purchased $25 worth of gas October 27. I got my Visa bill and they billed me for the full pre-authorized amount of $100. I spent 5 weeks chasing them. They lost my phone number twice and I had to continually follow up. They finally responded and said because I don't have my receipt they would only give me $40 back. I have the pre-authorized slip with the exact time they ran my card. I know exactly what pump I used. In today's digital age, you would think they could track down exactly how many litres I pumped. There is NO WAY I'm paying $60 for $25 worth of gas. A Honda Civic only holds 47 Litres of fuel. Now I have no other choice but to drag them through the small claims process. If there cooking is as unorganized as their bookkeeping, I certainly wouldn't eat the chicken!

Used to be decent fried food and pizza. Now they give you barely any food but charge you the same price. Super disappointed and will not be stopping there anymore.

The worst sub I have ever had. I wish I could post a picture. This store has been going down hill since they have renovated. The new staff is rude. They have let go the mature staff that made this store. I have made the decision not to use this store anymore.

Our experience with the current management was absolutely appalling , we will avoid this store in the future, she was down right rude to us when we approached to pay for some candy, accused us of taking the candy out of the bin with our bare hands, then she proceeded to tell me my cigarette brand was being discontinued, which was a lie. My opinion is that the current manager is not management material.

You should change the hours of service stated on google. It states you are open until 11pm when in reality you are not. Highly inconvenient!
