The reason I'm giving 3/5 is because of the poor quality control that this store has. 3 times I have purchased products that were past their expiry date. I even saw a bottle of $7 organic ketchup (I just found this item funny, so I had to see), that was over a YEAR past the expiration date. I've worked in retail, so I understand that Marilu's probably doesn't get compensated by certain distributors if they can't sell the products, but come ON.... throw out expired goods, don't try to sell them just to recoup your losses. The meat section is fantastic, as is the fresh vegetable/fruit area and especially the "sauce" aisle. I'd like to shop here more often as I live very close, but I've had too many bad experiences.

This supermarket is a staple of the community and I personally love it for the service and the type of selection you can find different there. All of the staff has always been very helpful and cheerful, whether behind the meat counter or in the aisles or at checkout. I can be indecisive at times, and they've always been patient. Overall, their prices are competitive, but I don't think price is the reason to shop there, especially on the most common brands. Instead, look for uncommon brands in products like sauces. Marilu's is great for discovering something new and everything's high quality so it's hard to go wrong. Oh, and the meat! That deserves its own review but just take a number at the counter and trust me.

Gourmet Grocery Store and a Burlington Institution for more than 25 years The Butcher shop I think is arguably the best in the city. All produce is always top notch. Staff all friendly and helpful. The regular grocery items ( paper towels, regular soap etc) at the large chain may be a little less. But if I shopped there, I would have a to make a special trip back to Marilu's to buy my meat/produce/ and many specialty items I can not live without.

Classic Italian supermarket. They have a great butcher old school style where u have to take a number. The quality is top notch and very reasonably priced. The deli counter is great with a huge selection of cold cuts. We come here for the meat, mainly the Italian sausages which taste just like my Nonno used to make, and the imported procuito. Definately a great place to shop for produce, meats and deli. They have a large assortment of Italian food. Being from Toronto and growing up near danforth, I was spoiled to the point that when i came out here, I was dying for a real Italian supermarket....and now ive found my "go to" store right here.

There is something here for everyone to love - great fresh produce, including some less-common choices when in season, fantastic bakery, great premade lunches and dinner items (hot and cold) including single servings for those of us who are just one or two in the house. Awesome salad counter and amazing butcher counter including premarinated meats, and great fresh fish and seafood options. The middle of the store has many less-common or harder to find condiments, oils, dressings, etc etc. We used to go here occasionally when I worked nearby around 10 yrs ago, then stopped when we moved away. Back now & living in the area and Marilu’s is better than ever!

This was an old grocery store for many decades and then was taken over after being vacant for months then turned into a boutique grocery. What has a limited selection and has a neat little Bakery and has a very good produce selection it's always fresh. Excellent meat counter prepared foods and on top of that everything is locally sourced were possible. You can actually see this as a step between the regular grocery store and a Whole Foods.

We've know Mario, owner to Marilu's for many years. This specialty grocery store has a wide range of amazing italian fresh options. Their produce is top quality, but for us it is their deli and butcher. The cuts of meat and if you don't feel like prepping, try their already marinated options. No prep time, simply cook and eat! But our hidden gem if you like lamb, their lamb chops pre-cut, put a little olive oil, your spices, barbque them, it is yummy delicious! I like this grocery store there desserts in the bakery are so good. My favorite ones are peanut butter brownie , carrot cheese cake bars, there a lot to choose from & the have whole cakes too. They have a hot counter with perogos, wings, macaroni and cheese, whole chickens etc. The deli has a lot of different salads and & pre made foods. Lots of different meat options. Lots of other foods in store. They also have a wine shop in the store. Service is always good. However it's not the cheapest grocery store around. You should definitely check out the desserts & see what you think of all the options.

As good as it gets for a small scale market with a great selection of produce, meats and baked goods. No chemically enhanced looking fruits or vegetables. Some say it's expensive but on par with others offering similar specialty items and fresh, wholesome food. The building is one of Burlington's longest serving grocery stores, but the owners maintain it well and there's a nice garden centre on the east side of the store each year also with some interesting items. Very good staff. Highly recommend it.

Marilu’s is a boutique supermarket that perhaps is a bit over-rated! While they have a significant selection of fresh meats and deli counter, we were very underwhelmed with the taste of their season chicken (way too salty) and prepared stuffed potatoes (not seasoned well).

I went in yesterday to buy premade meals. I bought two chicken alfredo meals for dinner. We opened up the packages to a sour smell. Both meals were expired on the date. I did not see the dates were Nov 22 and the being sold on the 26th. Another meal of chickpeas were also a older date. Please check the dates before selling them.

This rare independent grocery has a full service deli, meat counter, bakery, and wine shop. Produce is very good. There is lots of staff in all departments to help you. They carry some hard to find items, but some odd stuff stays on the shelf too long - check the dates on dusty jars. Pricing is erratic - reasonable and competitive on many items but some bottled goods and sauces are double compared to discount chains. The garden centre carries an unusually good variety of vegetable plants for your garden. Seniors get 10% off Mon-Tues. We live nearby and use this as a convenience store when we don't want to wander around bigger stores or go too far.

Great neighborhood supermarket that doesn't have all the SKUs as a bigger store but what they lack in quantity, they make up for in quality. Only carry name brand items and a very good bakery, hot food counter and butcher. Great meats even if they are a bit more than normal!
