Chronicly Understaffed, poor handling of covid. Kind of dirty and about 20-30% of the fruit and veg have spoiled. Staff can be rude and is often unavailable. There are a few things sold here that are better priced. Though I would recommend the local Walmart over this food basics 10 times out of 10.

The prices are pretty good on the groceries. I'm not a huge fan of their produce, the price is lower than other stores, but it spoils faster. I've also noticed this with some of their bread products. Half the time I go, the bagels are still frozen when they put them on the racks. This might be why they spoil quicker.

Went in and asked for day old newspapers, supervisor/manager told me she'd put them aside and to come in the next morning to get them. I come in the next morning, the girl at cash hands me the newspapers and as I'm walking out another girl makes me give them back because they're 'not allowed to give out day old papers'. REALLY. That cost you a $300/wk customer - hope it was worth it :)

I like going to this supermarket as an alternative to Fortinos that is a bit too expensive if you’re looking to buy fruits and vegetables. The place is well laid out and clean and friendly. It’s in the plaza so in case you need to grab a bottle of wine, the LCBO is right next to it.

I come up to this random man called Derek and ask where I can find the ice cream; He ignores me multiple times and walks off to god knows where. I was especially impressed with the international food selection! Since the international restaurants here are limited it's nice to be able to have access to some harder to find ingredients so I can make my favorite dishes at home!

I went in to buy the cheese that was on sale I had a web saver coupon buy one get one. The girl behind the tale went to get the manager to ask her about the coupon. Manager comes back and says we can't accept it because we don't know if it is legit or not. Since when has any grocery store ever stopped people from using printed off coupons. I've never had an issue with this before and I always print off coupons I've been doing it for years this is the first time there's ever been an issue. And I know if I would have went to the food basics at the mall I would have not have had a issue with that food basics only the one on King George. Needless to say I left everything behind went to FreshCo they didn't even bat an eye accepted the coupon and I was able to price match. Yes there's no price matching at food basics also. That will be the very last time I ever step a foot in that store

I have been to this location several times and have been disappointed for all of them. Sale items usually not available, empty shelves and good luck trying to find someone if you need help. The staff are friendly enough except for the store manager Dave. Rude, dismissive and condescending. If this is how he deals with customers, god help his employees. I frequent the Guelph Line store now. Advise you to do the same.

They have recently renovated the store and it has dramatically increased the esthetics. The entrance is much wider which makes it much easier when using a walker. The aisles are rearranged which makes it look cleaner, and much more inviting. The ends of the aisles are labeled, making finding items quicker. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Very clean and convenient location, however costumer service was poor. Picked up Perrier (seen in the picture) and it scanned with a higher price than the display. Cashier said that was a mistake and to put it back in the display area. No apologies from the cashier! After walking it back (and holding up the express line), I paid for my other groceries. As I was leaving, I noticed the man behind me getting the same 3 identical containers of raspberries bagged into a produce bag... mine on the other hand were just pushed along on the conveyor belt. Spoke to management about their display and their scanner price policies. I was told they didn't finish the display, so they don't need to honour it. Just like the cashier, no apologies for the mix up. Very disappointing!

This Food Basics has plenty of parking. You can buy beer there. Some of the prices are pretty outstanding.The Specialty Foods for snacking that you can be bought for $10; sometimes I buy that. The meat section could stand to be improved the staff are very good and polite and courteous. The store very clean.

Very large store location compared to others we have visted. Easy to find at the end of the plazza parking lot, with ample parking spaces. Generally very clean and tidy, as well as being very well stocked. Customer service is good as we have never had any issues shopping here. The only complaint I would have is that sometimes it seems they are very understaffed on the check-outs resulting in long lines.

This is the best Food Basics I've visited. The produce is EXCELLENT (best in the area) and they carry a wide variety of international spices and products. The only thing that is irritating is how narrow the Checkout is. I can never figure out how to unload my groceries from my cart without leaning far into it, and the push it through/manoeuvre around the cart. Overall a 5 star rating though. Just wish they'd widen the checkout area.

A smaller grocery store that reminds me of the local grocery from 20 years ago. It has a bit of everything and is a one stop shop for dinner but do expect to pay a very slight premium due to not having the no-name brands of basics like cake mixes.

Friendly and just trying to manage a difficult situation, however tonight, Friday night after 6, watching one guy walk in the store, proudly with no mask on, with an air of defiance, then see one lady with her mask talking to her husband next to her, without the need to read lips, then to see one staff member come out in the meat section, without a mask on, and then deal with not a great selection of fresh produce, mediocre selection of products and the store just looking.. Tired. Sorry. I can't feel safe there, nor can I get everything I need there. I feel sorry for those who don't have another store nearby to choose from. As I do, I choose not to visit this store, this brand again. It's not worth it.

Of the two Food Basics stores in Brantford, this is the one I prefer. Aisle space and lighting are very good. Prices are great, especially on produce. But take your time to pick carefully for quality. And plan to use quickly. They have a good selection of ethnic items. Parking is good and the store is accessible.

I like the hours and convenience but I hate that they freeze everything. I like the flour tortillas but they freeze them so when you bring them home to use them they stick together. They freeze the bread too which means it isn't soft when you use it. I am guessing they buy a large amount at a time to get better prices but the customer and quality suffers. They freeze most everything in the bakery department. I have inquired at other stores but this seems to be the only location that does this.

I wanted to share my very positive experience at this location. I was at this store aug 15 at around 7pm and the woman working at the self check out was very friendly. I asked her where freezes were and after telling me where they are and me still not being able to find them since they had been moved, she took it upon herself to find them for me. I wish I knew her name but I know she had a face shield with rhinestones a row the top. Very nice, and very much appreciated!

I've been shipping at the food basics on Guelph Line and find they always have what I want. Unfortunately the Food Basics on Fairview seems to have a lot of empty shelves and is often out of sale items even on the first day of sales. Of 6 items I needed they had 1. Got everything at the Guelph line store. On a positive note...fruit is usually very good when they have it in stock.
