This Fruit Store is included in the category of Chocolate shop.
Nice little chocolate shop. All hand made with a bear theme with nuts looking like claws. The store is small and can get tight with a lot of people.
Well, they must have upped their game. Service was excellent, they are trying out some new confections, and the old favourites were executed perfectly. Never had a bad nut out of this location.
This is overpriced cheap tasting chocolate. Again it is overpriced due to the town it is located in. You would be better heading further down the block towards Hudson's Bay and find the Bernard Callebaut store. Again this place is ok for the tourist factor but it is poor quality. I would prefer a Cadbury Dairy Milk over something in this store.
Pretty good caramel corn. Friendly staff.
The display of chocolate goodies at the window pulled me in the store to see more of what mountain chocolate offered. My curiosity was not disappointed as they had unique selections of chocolate themed sweets. The ambiance of the store was also wonderful as it gives one the feeling that you are in a quaint chocolate factory. Highly recommended to check out this beautiful spot!
Bad service, the macadamias nuts were smelly in dark chocolate. We threw it out. Supposed to be homemade fresh but turned out to be bad, stale and smelly. Even worse, it is health and safety issue. The authorities should look into their practices. Don't take your kids there at all.
Rude! Unprofessional. Had a terrible experience. The owner did not return my phone call after he verbally said he would. Do not go here. As the associate said, IF you don't like my service there are other stores in town.
Very good fudge and nice employees
So much delicious. Tried all 3 chocolate shops on this street and this was by far the best ????
Great chocolate but slow.
Interesting mixed reviews! In the past we had brusque/indifferent service here and there (typical of Banff due to their slim pickings for workers) and yes the lines can be long (because it's good!) but currently our staff experiences are good and the chocolate is always delicious. Our traditional chocolate stop.
Cool chocolates and delicious. This place will definitely give you a smile with the sweet taste of gourmet Rocky Mountain chocolates
Not as much selection as the other chocolate place. But still good stuff in there.
I spent $24 on a bag of caramel corn, fudge, "myrtle" (caramel, chocolate, peanuts), and chocolate covered orange bits. The caramel corn didn't have any of the salt in the sweet+salty combo that normally makes it good, and instantly globbed onto our teeth so badly we couldn't eat it and thew the whole bag out. All their chocolate tasted like sickeningly sweet wax or something - it's awful. My wife didn't mind the orange peel bits (perhaps the bitterness balanced the sweet?). I pushed through the "myrtle" despite the chocolate - but would take a boxed Walmart off brand "turtle" 10x over it. The fudge was also sickeningly sweet like the chocolate, plus rock hard (I had to cut it with a knife), and got thrown away. I'm sure this place is only in business because of a steady stream of tourists who never come back.
Chocolate ice cream is good
go get yourself a murtal!!!! chocolate with peanuts and salty caramel ???????? very nice people! made my 19th birthday extra special!!
Chocolate to die for ????????????
This was some of the worst chocolate I have ever had. The milk chocolate is bland and is like eating tasteless textures that leave you wanting ANYTHING else. I will never ever come back here. I would recommend others to go anywhere else. Grab a kitkat and you'll be happier that is for sure. I ordered the rice crispy drop and the Coconut drop both were terribly bland. Its like they dilute the chocolate with oils so it does not taste like chocolate one bit. Awful complete waste of my money.
I always get their caramel candy apple here, with nuts. It’s delicious! I ask them to slice it for easier less messy eating. Pretty good price, $6 for that, a little on the pricey side but I wouldn’t expect anything else in Banff.
This is one of my favourite stores in Banff!
Oh My GOD! You guys made my day. I had Chocolate with caramel and peanuts. I forgot the name. I just bought 1 piece to try and then left for Vancouver. For the first time I am regretting over my decision of buying just one chocolate. I hope they will help me to ship some chocolates to vancouver in future. Also I was amazed watching them making chocolate in store. I just loved it.
Mmmmm. Chocolate bear claws! I purposely had to stop and get some! Service was good for a busy little place!
Bought some souvenirs, don't know the taste yet. But the have a beautiful practical boutique for that.
Have been there many times over the years and have always had good service and the items we have purchased have always been awesome, even a week after they had been bought.
????????
OMG that popcorn ????. Friendly staff.
So this review is based on fudge and a candied apple....my friend loved her caramel apple w nuts...however the peanut butter chocolate fudge that we purchased did not have any flavor...it was a moist fudge but would not have to get it again.
I had really high hopes that I was going to be purchasing amazing chocolate when I first walked in... in the end, I purchased their dark chocolate with cashews and the rice krispy mixed with chocolate. So disappointed as I have never had chocolate this bad in my life. I think dollar store chocolate is better than here. Tasted stale and not even sweet at all. Save your money people.
I love coming here for a candy apple or a bear claw. The staff is always super friendly and helpful.
A must stop for me every time I visit Banff. Love this place!
I love Turtles with Pecans, and their Bear Claws were so good too. So nice to have fresh chocolates made right there. The other square chocolates were a good size with good tasting great flavours.
Very great decor and selection of different sweets. Staff didn’t look the happiest but they were still polite and served us properly. I was very disappointed with the taste of the chocolate, you pay 5$ for chocolate made very cheaply and that can be made at home. Overall it was an alright experience.
The best caramel apples around!! We make the drive regularly just for the variety of toppings on the apples and the delicious bark!!!
Best place to get your girl good quality chocolates
Super tasty chocolates with great variety. They have everything from fudge, icecream, candied and chocolate dipped fruit to barks and packaged gift boxes. It was cool to see them make some of the chocolate right in front of you. Very cool place.
Bought a piece of the milk chocolate almond bark and a milk chocolate bar. The bark was disappointing - bland, no flavor with a waxy texture. The bar was slightly better. Services was good. If you're looking for fantastic local chocolate the chocolatier in Canmore is quite superior.
I checked this place out with a friend today, and we found it quite pricey with mediocre quality. We were also disturbed that the worker making a chocolate and almond candy was doing so without following any basic food handling regulations. Long hair with no net, no gloves (she was making the candy with her bare hands!) in an area the public had access to. She didn't even wipe off the table before starting! I wish we would've noticed this before buying anything - yuck!
Candy
I have tried most of the items and have enjoyed them all.
Ice cream was not good . Just not …. Do yourself a favour and get Cows ice cream instead But ! Good chocolate covered orange peel !!
Simple yet delicious! The combination of your preferred chocolate (milk, dark or white) along with the variety of fillings (nuts, rice krispies, caramel etc) is all you need. They also have popcorn, gelatos and toffee.
Busy. Pricey. Yummy. Not necessarily in that order.
Love the chocolates and treats here! Everything is so fresh. My favourite items to get are the bears claws, turtles and caramel popcorn.
Some great alternatives.
Trie love this place. Such a good experience
pretty good. i got ice cream not many ice cream choices but its more of a chocolate store then a ice cream store. service was okay not the best. the worker was rushing to get the store closed because she was the only one on the floor. The only good thing i like about this place is they close pretty late at 11:00 other places close earlier then 11:00. the only thing i would ask for from them is to hire more people and get different ice cream flavours. Also the chocolate looked pretty good. never tired it but hoping to go back the next to get my brothers some.
(Translated) Various chocolates are on sale. It's so delicious and pretty in shape. (Original) 다양한 초코렛이 전시 판매하고 있습니다. 너무나 맛나고 모양이 이쁘게 생겼다.
Lots of sweets to choose from, but priced on the higher end. Their ice cream was super popular, it was sold out when we got there in the afternoon.
There are loves and hates here. The fudge is pricey but decent flavor. It's quick which is nice, you can't sample or so we were told. You don't get to choose a smaller or larger brick size. It's only one size. We each picked a separate flavor which all five flavors were thrown into one bag not labeled. Couldn't tell the difference flavor wise between three of them. Boo. At least have a sticker stating the German chocolate, the classic, the almond, the orange etc. The positives. The guy making the fudge was friendly. But flirtatious. The last time we came here, we got fudge from the whole park. One from nearly every store that offered, this place was the only one that after a week was not hard. It was still soft and creamy. So the potential to be the best was there, just some management that needs to be done with the details.
This place was very busy so we knew something good was to come, sadly the caramel corn had nuts in it I wish they had one without the nuts but that’s my only complaint because I couldn’t eat it. This place is for people who love nuts not exactly the place I would be looking for but my family loved it here.
great customer service .
The individual who was working there needs a refresher on their customer service skills/training. For a highly tourism area like Banff, customer service goes a long way especially during a Friday evening. I have been to other Mountain Chocolates locations within Canada and this visit was the most memorable one from all in terms of a negative way. I took my sweet tooth craving elsewhere.
I love this store and am quite sad that they do not have an online store. Would definitely order their chocolates to Vancouver. They have the best chocolates! Everything we got was super tasty and very fresh! Their myrtles were so rich and flavorful thanks to the caramel and nuts ????
Delicious, huge servings, delightful handcrafted treats!
Love this place very good quality home made chocolates that I like. Always stop here when I am.in the area or passing by.
Tastes great and good quality.
Great selection of chocolate, super friendly staff, LOVE the "Signature Collection". Make sure you visit Mountain Chocolates while you are in Banff and take some home for your friends!
rude staff. stale and bad smelly macadamia nuts in chocolate they sell for $3.75 per 100 gms???? i was coughing for hour after eating the chocolate, super yucky taste. I saw a big heap of caramel corn on the floor next to the kettle they cook it in and no one seemed to bother cleaning that, flies were running around.
My family and I have been spoiled with a box of Mountain Chocolates Signature Collection. This includes 5 different chocolate bars with the local Mountains on each label. Extremely tasty and I highly recommend as a Christmas gift for Family, Friends and Loved Ones!!!!
Can't go by this place without noticing the smell. It's seriously addictive. The prices are somewhat high but the chocolate is well worth it even if you buy a small amount. The staff are the highlight of this place but expect long lines especially during peak summer season.
The best chocolate place in Banff
Really good chocolate. We always get some when we go to Banff and the chocolate is always delicious, and has a very good sweetness level.
Wanted one of everything
Yumm!! This place is truely incredible and has every type of chocolate fudge you could possibly dream off. Love this place and all of the variety. Fantastic
(Translated) Very good selection of excellent chocolate products at low prices. We recommend. Multiple visits are conceivable. ;-) (Original) Sehr gute Auswahl an hervorragenden Schokoladenprodukten zu günstigen Preise. Sehr zu empfehlen. Mehrfache Besuche sind denkbar. ;-)
Love the chocolate bear paws here. Unfortunately on my last visit, August 13 2019, the girl working the till was incredibly sick, coughing and wiping her nose the whole time. Not acceptable for the food service industry, especially for a place serving chocolate to young children.
(Translated) I entered the first time and I came out because it seemed to be native. The next day, I went back and bought a piece of chocolate with caramel and cashew and my partner a piece of chocolate with rice crispice and oh, there, the best mixes ever eaten in life! 2 days later we did other tests: completely decadent chocolate and coconut (for those who like macaroons). Those with Oreos cookies… everything is so good! I recommend !
Love the bear paws milk chocolate ???? ????????????
Yummy chocolate but bad service. Too bad, it could be great place.
Wow! Amazing chocolate and CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! When I got to Calgary, I realized I had left my wallet on the bench outside Banff's Mountain chocolates.I called the Ken the owner in a panic and he went outside, searched for it and called me back to say he'd found it. Altogether a delicious ending to a long drive!! And did mention that caramel corn????
Went to Banff and found my favorite treats. The chocolate covered caramels are to die for.....so much for my diet. ???? My granddaughter works in Lake Louise and I have her bringing back an order for me when she comes home for a visit to Spruce Grove Alberta. HURRY UP PLEASE.
I had a « Murtle » which was very good and very fresh! Would 100% recommend
Great tasting, fun to watch the chocolatier making a new batch.
I just bought a cranberry cluster and the chocolate tastes waxy. Won't buy from here again. Going to shop around and taste test before I buy chocolates for the kids for Christmas
Amazing chocolate and wonderful people. I slid off the highway this morning and the owner, Ken, pulled over to help me. After I got out of the snow Ken told me he owns mountain chocolates so I went to support his business on my way home. His lovely employees said I didn't need to pay, as Ken said my day was hard enough already. Thanks again, Ken.
Renovated place, awesome customer service by someone called Harvey, breakfast extremely good. Very crowded parking lot tho. I will repeat it next meet for sure
Don't go. Very rude. Amazing!! She speaks without opening her mouth.
Staff friendly. Good advice on what type of chocolate to purchase. Not to crazy priced. Great place.
The caramel corn is not good at all. It doesn't have much flavour and sticks to your teeth more than any kind I've had before. Poppy crock from the grocery store is loads better. I'm guessing they didn't get the temperature right when making the caramel
Highly recommend the fudges, they are so good! Also they do a white chocolate and peanut butter tiger square which was amazing. We will be back for sure!
Terrible! Bought 20 dollars worth of chocolate that was not edible. It was chalky and flavorless.
Over the years we have purchased numerous caramel apples and always enjoyed them. Yesterday we bought two more. Upon cutting them open, they were both very brown around the stick and both apples are soft. Tried to phone the store but they don’t answer. Next time I’ll make sure to ask for fresh apples as these ended up in the garbage.
Ice cream was great
Tastes vas good and friendly service. I cream very good not too sweety.
Overpriced goods, poor service. Chocolates were just okay, not excellent.
Friend got a box of 6 turtles for me from here and they were quite delicious. They were big, had a nice layer of chocolate (white, milk, and dark), almonds, and caramel. They were a bit too sweet and the dark chocolate didn't have much chocolate flavor, but they were otherwise good. Walked by them in Banff when I visited, seemed like a nice shop.

Love the selection of sweets available. Worth the price after initially thinking it's a lot.
(Translated) A surprising chocolate specialty store Ice cream too (Original) 另人驚喜的巧克力專賣店 也有冰淇淋
We bought the milk fudge which they said was the best selling. Way too old sweet. Out entire family could not eat it and had to throw away. The orea chocolate bar and cotton candy ice cream were good.
How can they call this chocolate?! And for the people who think this is good chocolate, do yourself a favour and try some Belgium Chocolate. After a horseback ride in Banff we were hungry and tired and we decided to have some chocolate. It looked good, it was hot, we were hungry so we bought $30 worth of chocolate. We had some on the spot but because it was hot and it was melting we thought it will taste better after it sits in the fridge for a bit. So the next day when we tried some again, the chocolate had white spots similar to the ones you get on a chocolate thats's old or out of date, but since we just bought it in they said its made in the house daily we thought its fresh. It was disgusting!! It tastes like margarine with a bit of cocoa in it! Everything tasted like it was mixed with something else to make more of and save money. The marzipan was bland and chewy and the nuts were stale. Don't give in to temptation or ask for a sample first. That should stop you from buying it.
Lovely looking shop and polite staff. However, I found all the dark chocolate products I bought very disappointing. Very little taste and far too sweet for dark chocolate. Definitely expensive given this.
The place was smelly it hurt my sinuses as soon as I walked in and gave me a headache that prolonged for 30 minuets. The staff was rushing me to make a purchase and was rude to me. They had overcharged at least 10% the fudge I had bought was ok not as good as what you can get at cableas which in my opinion is the best fudge around. The fudge even if I was charged the correct amount would still have been much more expensive than if I had bought at probably any other shop that sells fudge. My friend who also bought something at mountain chocolates was also overcharged for his purchase. I would never go to mountain chocolates again even if it was the last place that sold fudge.
The fudge was terrible. Old, dry and didn’t melt in your mouth. More expensive than most in Canmore and service girl was not friendly at all. Waste of money.
$12 for something that shouldn't be classified as chocolate. Here's a tip for the owner: buy some chocolate from Belgium, Germany or Switzerland to get an idea of what real chocolate should taste like.
Went there for ice-cream. Good quality ice cream but extremely terrible customer service.
If you have a sweet tooth they have a variety of decadent treats.Check it out!
Good homemade chocolates. Expensive. Yes. Worth it.
Good display, good service. But didn’t find the chocolate high quality. We bought over $50 worth of chocolates and fudge and none of the items tasted like chocolate. The dark fudge and milk chocolate fudge tasted exactly the same: brown wax and Sugar! The things were sonsweet that we threw them out.
Best chocolate in Alberta! Be sure to always stop in when visiting Banff :D
So good!
