Cool little place to stop on your way to Cabot's trail. They have home made pies, ice cream, vegetables, etc. Also a gift shop attached but I didn't check that section out. It gave me the feeling of a bakery/convenience store all in one. Enjoy! (I couldn't tell which one was the farmer's daughter :-)

Stopped in during our week long vacation to Cape Breton after having heard the stories on CBC about the land giveaway and having friends recommend it. The stuffed buns were amazing, despite the fact that I did not actually get the flavours I ordered. (It was the staff member's first day so he was a little flustered, so I didn't exchange them. They were still good.) Their fudge is also amazing. Lots of knick knacks in the general store area, some local stuff and other widely available commercial things. Overall the staff seemed quite disorganized. There was a lot of waiting around to be helped, while tons of staff all seemed to run in different directions and it was hard to tell who worked there.

This was the perfect lunch stop while driving the Cabot Trail! We happened upon it by accident and it saved us from getting fast food at a gas station. The Turkey Club Sandwich was a thing of beauty! Lots of fresh baked goods, fudge and small grocery supply and adorable gift shop. Seems to be run by a group of young entrepreneurial women, love the vibe and would recommend this spot to anyone in the area!

We were really looking for a small grocery store. The Farmer’s Daughter is less of that and more of a souvenir shop. The produce section was sorely lacking produce, even basics like potatoes or onions, so we looked around some more and ended up with some hickory smoked cheese that is inedible. The cheese is organic cheddar from Knoydart farm and is bitter, and acrid. I’d return it if we were anywhere close, but we’re on the road now. Oh yes, they also told me that their sourdough RYE bread is gluten free. It is not.

Thought this was some kind of farmer's market or grocery store. It's actually a bakery with a store area that also sells things like jam and fudge, and they also make some food made to order, and they have a small dining area. They sell a lot of their bread and other baked goods packaged on site. Oatcakes are yummy, stuffed buns are great too. We noticed that the grocery stores in the area get their bread and baked goods from here.

The Farmer's Daughter is one of those staple stops for tourists coming and going through the Cabot Trail. We got some pretty fantastic burgers for lunch here. The homemade buns are something! Great food at reasonable prices. I got a cheeseburger and fries, three fish tacos, and a chicken sandwich for about $35. All were good. I gave the chicken sandwich to my 11 month old, he loved it. They also have soft serve ice cream, regular ice cream, lots of desserts and treats like lemon meringue pie, and local fruits, veggies, meats and preserves. Worth a stop. There is a little children's play area as well, although it could use a bit of updating, is still fun for kids.

We always have to stop here at least once when visiting the island. They have the best selection of ice cream. Peanut butter fudge crunch is a must have. I can’t remember what they’re called but the buns with the filling at the snack counter are out of this world, definitely give them a try. To top it off, great service and friendly staff!

One of the few places to stop for food while heading to Iona from Port Hawkesbury. Friendly staff and decent food. If sitting at their outdoor patio, be aware that it's right at a roundabout, so can get a bit noisy with traffic.

Very disappointed in this spot. The menu did not feature any healthy options and it was overpriced. The popcorn chicken was made from pressed meat. My husband had a side salad that consisted of wilted lettuce. The grocery selection was abysmal. The gift items were way overpriced. The store is laid out poorly and ordering is very disorganized. During my many years of going to this fine establishment I can say they have an amazing menu of lunch and breakfast items finely cooked to near perfection. And they have amazing baked goods such as breads, cookies, pies and last but not least there amazing flora buns that come in multiple flavours my favorite there Oktoberfest but I do worry about their spinach and feta flora buns because the are often over cooked giving the spinach a unappealing texture overall it is an amazing place to stop for a meal

I give it two stars instead of one just because the baked food is tasty. It is so difficult to get service even when standing at the counter and making eye contact with staff. Is the fudge counter the spot that the workers dislike the most? I got a salad that was just a pile of lettuce. When I commented, I was told, yep that is the salad. No apology or anything. The prices are ridiculous. I love to support local businesses when I can, but I am sorry, not this one.

Fun space to stop by for a snack or to check out the gift shop. Farmer’s Daughter has a food area, an ice cream shop, a bakery, a grocery store, and a gift shop. Lots of markers indicating how far you are from here on route. We had the potato skin, the corn chowder, and the strawberry short cake. It took around 15 minutes to receive our order and there was a small space near the back of the shop for dining in. Food was alright, but not memorable. Worth dropping by as there are may be something that you might find interesting there.

Went into grab something to eat and the lady at the till had no clue what came with the Cheeseburger Combo. The burger is apparently supposed to come with ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, mayo. (fyi comes with your burger fries and a small drink). I waited 20 minutes for this and people that ordered after me were getting their food before me. When I went to ask them about my food they told me they had a phone order come in (so mine got pushed to the back??) When my order finally came the burger came with no cheese, no mayo, no onions. When I questioned the lady about it she said the ticket said regular hamburger. Disappointed as I thought this place would serve good service and food since it’s on a BIG intersection and on the highway. Won’t be returning.
