Best place for specialty /organic bulk items. Love that they will let you bring your own bags or jars for flours, laundry soap, oils etc. My favorite organic store though some items not in bulk are more expensive than other organic stores.

Really amazing store, they offer so much here that you won't find anywhere else! The staff is also amazing and super helpful bunch of people. Check out the mass selection of from different bulk wet and dry, botanical oils, to bokashi compost accelerator and organic consciously sourced products. Cheers and kudos to them!

Great products, friendly staff. I've always enjoyed the visit. The Earth toothpaste became my favourite as it actually helps remove tartar - something almost no other toothpaste does. Lots of great food, smells, and natural remedies.

This is my happy place where I can go to find 99% of the organic items I need for my life as well as items I have read about and would like to try. I can buy so many things in bulk including essential oils, epsom salts, herbals for tea and tinctures, salts, cooking spices, sprouting seeds, coffee, soaps, shampoos, cooking oils, which allows me to sample products before I commit to a large package. Being able to buy these things in bulk means these items are always fresh because I can purchase only the amount that I need. Patrons regularly contribute to a container collection bin so I can get some kind of small bottle, jar or bag to put bulk spices or oils into. In the spring I get my seeds for my garden there and can also find the specialty items I need for fermenting, making yogourt and kefir.

We buy all our bulk baking/cooking items here. We get tubs of nooch and wheat gluten. Picked up a big tub of soy chunks on our last visit but havent used them up yet. Their coolers/freezers section is packed with great items and deals. Have gotten bar soap, lip chap/balm, laundry soap, stain remover, etc here as well... huge plus that it’s environmentally friendly - we do enough harm to the earth already - no need adding more.

Friendly helpful staff and delicious vegan products. The vegan marshmallows are yummier than the non-vegan ones. They toast up over the fire and make great s'mores. They sell agar agar if you want to make your own vegan marshmallows. Love this store!

absolutely outrages! the service was very racist towards me and my family. as soon as we entered the store the chaser has left her station and started to follow us around the store keeping her distance pretending to organize the shelves. every time i looked what she was doing she would quickly look away as if she was keeping a eye on us! she would follow us from aisle to aisle. Having a Black Lives Matter flag in your store doesn't mean this gives you a free pass to still be racist smh, and as someone who has previously organized many protests to fight this oppressions I feel deeply disappointment!

Love shopping here because, holy heck, is the owner friendly. Prices may be higher than you're average No Frills, but everything is really good quality and worth the price. Every time I go, I find something new. They are one of the only places I know of that sells diatomaceous earth. Also, love all the options for plastic-free living.

This shop is a gem for the eco friendly and sustainable shopper. Many special organic products and products for special dietary needs, like gluten free, and dairy free. I come here to buy special gluten free flours and I always pick up a selection of high quality groceries while I’m here. They have lots of fresh organic produce, including some hard to find seasonal items, a vegetarian refrigerator /freezer case with local products like specialty vegan cheeses and dips, freshly in-house roasted organic coffee which is delicious, and they have a natural personal care section including soaps. There is a nice selection of eco-friendly products like reusable food storage and water bottles. This is a vegetarian shop; they do not sell meat. Great atmosphere with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I am always very happy with my experiences and purchased at Earth’s General Store.

I really like their product selection and that customers are required to bring their own clean containers for bulk purchases (you can also buy one of the many re-usable containers they sell if you don't have any or forgot to bring one). I like going in with a vague sense of what I might like to make, then hit the produce section to see what's around. It can be fun to try out sunchokes, or use fresh turmeric, etc... I bring in my own spice containers, you just ask to have them tared and then you fill them up! Staff are always happy to help fill your spice jars if you are worried about spilling. Excellent covid regulations implemented. I really appreciate that staff and customers safety is taken very seriously.

I don't know why I have to write a review. Everybody knows this is the premier place in E-town for caring and conscious consumers of vegan, vegetarian and ethical products. Go in, suss the place out for yourself and ask questions because the staff either knows or will find out. It outpaces Organic Planet in caring and knowledgeable staff and even though it's a bit smaller with less overall it has the best.

I love this store! I love what it stands for. It's run on the values that all stores should be run on- the highest quality ingredients that prioritize reducing waste and being better for the environment. My house and I like to refill our soaps here and other bulk items. I also like all of the fair trade and ethically sourced food you can get. Also, I like that the owner does a lot of other work in the community like advocating for equal rights and environmental rights. I'm pretty sure I've seen them out serving food to the houseless populations before. We need more businesses like this that prioritize well being and unity over corporate greed. I stumbled across this place when I was cold and tired of waiting for the bus. I crossed the road looking for refuge from the rain when I discovered more then just a warm place. I found my new healthy food store.! The ambiance was calming and welcoming. Customer service was quick and kind to help also. Many of the items in store were more than 80 % Canadian made or manufactured in Canada ,which is something I am always looking to invest in and or tell others about. .Any questions or concerns on an item someone was quick to respond with product knowledge . I found this to be refreshing and non intimidating as so many new customers to healthy food stores feel. My favorite isle was the homemade soaps isle. I found the body soaps to be unbelievably well priced and very impressive as well. I probably bought 8 different soaps for roughly 2$ per bar. They have quite the aray to choose from and you will not be disappointed in quality. I am looking forward to return here and buy some more B.C. apples and other produce that blew my taste buds away as well. This place is a definite check out ! Along with no computerized tellers either haha! Thank you kind Humans !

Earths has tons of options for being a small quaint little grocer. Tons of organic, natural, vegan and eco friendly options and items available here. I go here for most of the items I cant find elsewhere. Perks are they have a lot of refillable items as well, such as soaps, shampoos, detergents, cleaners, or bulk food items, dry goods, some oils. I recommend earths to tons of people if they're in and around the area.

I absolutely love Earth’s General Store and everything they stand for. I’m trying to eliminate as much plastic use as possible, and no other store makes it easier than EGS. They practice what they preach and that’s so important. However I had an experience that left me with a pretty bad taste in my mouth while there today. I was getting ready to pay and looking at a few things by the register before checking out. There was an employee stocking the shelf right beside me. She didn’t see me, turned, essentially ran right into me and stepped on my foot. She was startled, I get it, I was right there and she didn’t notice. I was startled too! I apologized right away, but she gave me a dirty look and said nothing. Really? If I didn’t love EGS so much, that experience would give me pause in returning. That being said, this is a great store, and a wonderful resource in Edmonton. I’ve always had great customer service until this encounter today.

Earth's General Store was a pioneer in servicing people to live ethically. Long before veganism, organically grown products, and social justice became trendy (and profitable), Earth's General Store was there. Why? Not because it was profitable (it sure wasn't at the time), but because they cared. This store is run with a philosophy of caring and time and time again, they offer the most cutting edge ethical products even if they are not profitable. This place is more than a store; it is the heart of a community of caring. And yes, they also have great products, food, and solutions to problems. I cannot say enough good about this place and the people that work there. I shop there for almost all my food needs and have since it became a grocer.

We love coming here. Staff is not only knowledgeable or if not at least they're warm, authentic, genuine people. I bought cherries that were mostly moldy/rotten the day after we bought them, so I sent them a fb message and Michael was kind enough to offer a refund on the spoiled cherries. Thank you for being so considerate, we appreciate you guys. And yes we will be back for more. One thing we love about this store is that they give their milk who might be expiring soon. We don't consume dairy products but that is such a nice gesture, why waste?

Was looking for a new place to buy the earth balance buttery spread since planet organic was closing down and I found this place Initially bought the buttery spread in bulk but have found out when I needed to refill recently the health board has shut their bulk section down. One of the ladies there was very accommodating by special ordering me a 6 pack of the 1.3 kg containers as long as I bought all of them. Thank you so much for going that extra mile.

Following up on the owner's response bellow: You can regularly be seen in the store with a mask that doesn't properly fit, it has nothing to do with you eating or drinking, it doesn't fit. You are also conducting business or conversations with others in the store who are not wearing their masks correctly. Not once or accidentally, but regularly. You have customers who shop there consistently with only a scarf or other excuse for a mask and your staff clearly does nothing, constantly. Just admit you no longer have a policy and stop being hypocritical. You can "disagree" all you like, facts don't lie. To all those Anti-Maskers out there who posted complaints, you don't have to worry anymore, the policy doesn't exist anymore. ... Original Post: A shame that a store that was known for it's principled stances on many issues, no longer bothers with it's own policy regarding masking. I used to feel safe shopping here, but the staff nolonger seems interested in maintaining the standards of the store. Not that I can blame them when you can find the owner walking around the store with a clearly ill-fitting mask, that constantly falls off his face or simply doesn't cover his nose.

The last time I was here I didn't enjoy the visit. This time, there was a great staff who was bubbly and bright. She hopped off the cash and immediately gave me 3 ideas for a great chocolate. Her exuberance was such that I had her favourite product in my hand ready to buy before I knew it. I love going in and getting out of any store, and she made an exploratory trip into a surgical strike. In, out, extremely grateful and happy. This was a fantastic trip.

Attention to products and environmental impact is a wonderful detail in this store. It's not your average grocery store. They bring in lots of interesting things, catering to specific diets, are fairly reasonably priced considering it's all organic etc. They believe in locally sourcing things too. Often there are incredible deals on products about to expire. The owner is an amazing guy!

the bulk section is the bomb. We reuse our containers and refill at the store and it's incredible to see how much our garbage and recycling has reduced in our home. Everybody should be taking advantage of the bulk products they have! It's cheaper too. Always a good selection of everything we need: never had a bad experience.

I really love what Earth's General Store stands for as a business. I love their commitment to local, ethical, and healthy produce. However, it's not somewhere I stop by on a regular basis. Here's why: every time I interact with the staff I am made to feel like I am inconveniencing them just by being in the store. With the exception of the owner (he's wonderful and so enthusiastic!) almost everyone I have dealt with has been snobby and unfriendly. Especially at the till. I want to shop here but it's uncomfortable being in a shopping environment where I don't feel welcome. Was it something I did or said? I've tried to be as friendly and warm as possible and can't recall doing anything that would warrant such icy behaviour. I am writing this review because I want to shop here and support this business, and I feel like the owner should know that this is how the environment comes across. I think the staff and business would benefit from a warmer, more welcoming atmosphere!

This store is over priced and the staff are never friendly. I went in yesterday and walked past two girls who didn't acknowledge my presence even when I smiled at one of them. I walked around for 5 minutes clearly looking for something (they didn't have) and the two employees ignored me even though I was the only person in the store. I have also been forced to buy more than I need because of their $5.00 debit policy. For a place that is meant to reduce waste, making me buy products I don't need to save their owners money is a bit counter intuitive. There isn't alot in the store that is under $5.00 anyways but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me want to stop using this store when combined with the poor service I always encounter.

Trying to make some changes to my lifestyle that reduce the amount of plastics I contribute to the landfill and heard that Earth General Store had a refilling station. Went to refill my dish soap and laundry soap using my old containers and it was a great experience. Staff were friendly, readily available, and were happy to answer any questions! I found the prices a little pricey considering I was refilling, but the products are worth it. Will definitely be back!

Because of that I tend to avoid coming here. Mainly i experience this when i get to the counter to pay. Cute little place with some good deals, but most of their stuff is overpriced. You can usually find most of the specialty items they carry available at Superstore for a much lower cost. It's great to have little local places like this, but it's unfortunate that the prices are so much higher. Even if you factor in convenience, for most items, you're better off making a Superstore trip. They have a few things I have yet to find at most places, though, so that's nice to see.

I've enjoyed getting my coffee grounds here, they have good coffee. But i realized how terrible of a philosophy this store has, it preaches using less wile charging more. After I just spent over $17 on a small amount of coffee grounds and a single chocolate bar I realized i forgot milk. Ran back, purchased the cheapest carton for about $4.75 and go to pay. Young girl looks up at me and points to the $5 min for debt sign on the counter. I told her i just spent $17 a min ago and she explains that the store gets charged for purchases under $5 and i can buy some small items from the counter to increase my bill over $5. I call bulls**t on that, sounds like a easy up sale tactic and even if they did get charged why are the customers taking the hit, sounds like basic cost of running a business and either way they come on top. Maybe I'm just cranky because i need my coffee, but I'll try saving my money and shopping someplace a bit more ethical
