Nice selection but very poorly labeled prices. You will see whole rows with the same type of plant and prices clearly above them and then you get to the register and instead of 2.49 for one peppper it's 10$. Unlike other places no loyalty coupons. Will not be going back.

I have gone faithfully to Rice Rd Greenhouse for quite a few years. I decided to buy 3 perennials for Mothers day. Much to my dismay 2 of the 3 plants were mislabeled. I bought a red Daisy like flower and ended up with a dark yellow black eyed Susan. The other plant was labelled purple ecinnasia and got a white cone flower. I am very disappointed to find out that I did not get what I wanted. I hope that no one else has had this problem.

They have a lot of selection, staff are very good. But the layout can be confusing. The place is old and it really starting to show its age. And the leave hoses laying on the ground all over, someone is gonna trip and sue. But it's better then buying half dead plants at lowes....

My family has bought products from Rice Road for 40 years. I recently moved back to Welland in my late 50's and have spent $300 + at Rice Road this season because I love to support local and I have always trusted their business acumen. However, today I went to purchase rhubarb plants and the ones available were horrendous (undersized, full of weeds) and $20 per 1 gal pot. I asked for a deal and was told only %50 off. I was willing to take the chance to revive these sad little plants in my garden, but for only $5 each. I was denied. Walked out.

This is my favourite greenhouse to shop at. They have an extensive range of tropical houseplants, succulents, rare plants, and garden plants. The have tons of decorative pots and special potting mixes for certain plants. Staff are always very helpful and there are plenty of sales.

Higher priced plants than others in the area. Very poorly maintained plants that are overcrowded, not pruned, full of lichens and mosses. They don't put the work into maintaining healthy plants to justify hight prices. The most absurd thing is that plants are tossed into 'holding areas' and seem neglected. Ceck out this plant that has bracket fungus wrapped around it. Just laughable. Buy healthy, we'll taken care of plants somewhere else.

Tropical plants were all priced incorrectly, I asked to speak the the manager to figure out why the prices were incorrect and the prices were not being honoured but the manager refused to speak to me. I used to love Rice Road but I will not be giving them my business again as long as they are unable to correctly price their plants and fix their mistakes.

They also have a huge bulk yard for topsoil, mulch, stone and most anything else a person would need regarding landscaping and exterior property improvements. Rice Road Greenhouses have been around such a long time - It's because of quality products and friendly service. I highly recommend them if you live in the Welland, Thorold, Fonthill / Pelham Niagara Region area.

Very large, well -maintained facility with many, many plants. I could have spent much longer there. The reason for four stars instead of five is that I couldn't find anyone to help me. I am sure there were staff there, but there were many people shopping and I couldn't identify anyone who looked like staff. It could be due to distancing restrictions; this was my first visit so I don't know what it is normally like. I would definitely recommend. Great gift shop in the front as well.

This was a nursery that came highly recommended from a friend... We went on Mother's Day weekend and it was awful. Rice Roads has a cafe offering coffee beverages for purchase right when you enter, to which several customers made the purchase, however, rather than taking that coffee outside, customers were walking around with it and drinking it. This cafe was brand new and just opened. Several staff members were not masked and it looked like these staff were of upper management level. There was no capacity control within the store so it was pure chaos and clearly over limit Opening a cafe inside a store during a pandemic with no guidelines on redirecting consumers to take it outside is a blatant disregard of our current pandemic situation. No enforcement of masks and socially distancing. The short 10 minutes we were in there we observed several unmasked staff chatting with unmasked customers within a close proximity. This is unacceptable and I'm truly shocked that Rice Roads has been allowed to operate the way it has. It's very appalling to experience and witness a business with no safety concerns to protect their customers. Will never go back because of such lack of care, visiting it once is already too much.

We purchased a Viburnum standard from Rice Road Greenhouses on “Horticulture Day” 2012. This $80 plant came with a two year guarantee. The nursery man stated that it would be replaced if it died within that period. When the plant did not show any sign of life this spring, we contacted Rice Road Greenhouses on “Horticulture Day”. We were told to scratch the bark and if there was green showing, to give it a couple of more weeks. We did as directed but two weeks later, we were sure it was dead. “Horticulture Day” had passed but we were confident that Rice Road would make good on the guarantee and would replace the plant with a new one. The plant was taken to Rice Road where we made sure that we met an owner, Steve Moes. Much to our surprise, Steve’s response to our request for a replacement was “Bullsh..” Steve said that we could get a replacement, however, we would have to pay 25% more (the full price) since the plant had been purchased at a discount or we could get a full refund. We decided to accept a refund but when we met with the person at the “Customer Service” desk we were told that we could only get a store credit. Steve had clearly used the word refund so we had the customer service person contact Steve via his radio. Steve verified the fact that they only offered a store credit. This was not what Steve had said when we were with him. If you have made any purchases from Rice Road on “Horticulture Day” you can only make a plant for plant exchange on “Horticulture Day” in one of the following two years. Is this the kind of business from which you might want to make your plant purchases?

We did curbside pick up a few times with Rice Road Greenhouses. This time around the store was open and we did not want to go in because curbside was just easier for us. Upon arrival we saw 2 employees in the curbside area assisting people. We sat in our parking spot for 15 minutes patiently with no assistance. I called 4 times just to get an answering machine everytime. I got out of my vehicle checked all over for signage and there was nothing that indicated any instruction only to "have your name and order number ready" I walked over to a cart that happened to have my order with all my plants. I loaded up my vehicle and left. What is the point of curbside pick up at that point? There was no direction in my confirmation email about any changed curbside protocols....let alone any direction upon arrival. For a company accepting an order of a few hundred dollars you'd think customer service and/or a more organized system would be priority. I never write reviews but I feel that this needs attention. Don't offer curbside if you can't run it properly.

I ordered garden soil for delivery. I asked for the delivery to be made first thing in the morning for the following day and the lady agreed. Paid for it with CC over the phone. The next day at 11am i had already expected the dirt to arrive, after calling multiple times a lady finally answers and she explains they cannot guarantee any time frame for deliveries. The delivery arrives at 5:30pm. There was a 10'x12' tarp laid out, larger than necessary for the amount of dirt I had ordered. The dump truck driver pours it half-on half-off the tarp and covers my neighbour's cars tires and leaves without a word. I have delivered dirt from here before and everything was organized. I don't know if it's because coronavirus or some other cause but after this last experience I will not be returning for some time.

I made my first purchase from Rice Roads recently after hearing such great things about their greenhouse and plants. I received my order only to find that one of the products purchased was half the size advertised and the other plant was on it way out with root rot. After reaching out to their team I was met with some sarcastic remarks stating how the plants received were better than the ones advertised… which was not the case and not the response I felt was warranted by a customer service team. After some back and forth and more follow up on my end I was provided a reimbursement thankfully but felt that something needed to be said about how they handled the situation. This will be my first and last time placing an order with Rice Roads Greenhouses.

It has been a while since I visited Rice Rd Greenhouses and I was very pleasantly surprised. The variety of plants is amazing and they all seem to be lush and of very high quality as well as the very appealing boutique/gift/decor section. There is so much to see. Even the resident cats are friendly! Very nice place if you're looking for something unique and special to give.

First visit. Looks like a nice store. However, I went to purchase Triple Mix Soil. Ended up buying the Pro Triple Mix for an additional $6/cd plus tax. Very disappointing quality and definitely not what was expected. Too many wood pieces up to 4" and longer. Very course mix. I wonder what the regular Mix is like. Definitely was not screened. Not even close to quality of Triple mix previously bought at Allen's in Niagara Falls. So, overpriced and low quality.

Management and staff wearing masks, not following arrows and refusing keep 6ft away. I had to ask several staff members to please stay 6ft away after they either brushed past me or stopped to talk to me. One refused and spat on the ground. I guess I should be greatful it was the ground and not me. Will never purchase from them again if that's how they feel about the health and safety of the community.

This place is awesome. I went in the fall and they have alot of nice perennials at 25 and 50% off. They also have a huge variety of house plants. Tons of succulents, snake plants, calathes, rubber tree, palms, peperomias, alocasia ect.. I had been looking for a burle and ornata calathea for so long and finally found them here!

I really like this nursery and I shop here often. I only gave 1 star as I was there late this afternoon and saw a number of employees NOT wearing masks. When the Niagara Covid cases rising and needing to shop for the holidays, as a consumer I expect shops to follow mandated laws for mask wearing to keep shoppers safe. All shoppers were wearing masks which was reassuring, but it is unacceptable that all employees were not.These were employees doing flower arranging in close contact with customers and the products. I won't be shopping here again due to the fact that I don't feel it is safe to do so during a pandemic.
