Very impolite everytime I call
I have being going here for 15 years both under my own business and my mother’s. I have never been treated so rudely and poorly. They blatantly discriminated against me as I cannot wear a mask and demanded to know my personal health information as to why and then kicked me out of the store even after I shared. This is a breach of the basic human rights act.... I would suggest boycotting Gales and any other buisness that so rudely demands personal health information and then discriminates against a person violating a persons basic human rights according to the disability portion of the human rights act.
It's an awesome place ....wish I could get supplies now...running short on materials..but hopefully there opening up soon
Good store to buy birthday party stuff. Store has a lot varieties for disposable boxes, containers etc. Edit: Please note that store has no return/exchange policy. Any purchase is final.
My wife shops here all the time and loves the prices. Personally I love the chocolates she buys from here and brings home !!!
If they don't have it, you don't need it! Great family run business.
Incredible selection, very good prices, but not well organized. Looking for artificial flowers today and they're found in 4 different areas of the building.
I have shopped at this store for a very long time. I usually do not write reviews but feel like there is a BIG need to ask about the changes at Gales on Elliott. As they say 3 strikes n you're out! Strike One: I was rudely met at the counter with a comment about showing my card. I said I do not have one. She said I needed one if I planned to shop there. I asked if something had changed and the woman said, "You have always needed one." I have not had to provide one before. I asked her how I apply for a card not knowing what kind of card I actually needed. She told me I had to be a business or belong to one in order to shop there. She waited for me at the door until I left the store. Strike Two: I returned at a later date and the same woman came unglued on me. She remembered me and indicated that I was told I would need a card. I explained I was there to ask if other arrangements could be made such a letter as the company does not use card verification any longer. It was not a pleasant exchange but I did get the okay to bring a letter. Strike Three: I came back one more time as I really like the inventory at this store and was wanting to open a side line business and shop here. Again the same woman was not friendly but took my letter and gave me a 'card". It wasn't even gold. Then she said I would have to lock up my purse. I chose to take it back to my car. I was watched by staff and followed around and did make a small purchase as I was not wanting to purchase a big supply at this time. I do not think there is any chance for Strike 4...I found the Gales on Dewdney had most of the supplies I need. They were very friendly and did not follow me around. When I came to make my purchase of $400.00 they suggested a few other items and were absolutely great about wanting my business. I will definitely shop there again! Thanks ladies at Gales on Dewdney for making my shopping a very good experience! Can anyone explain the unnecessary rudeness of this woman at the Elliott location? What the heck?
Make sure you have lots of time to look around, lots of hidden gems and TONS to look at
Always find what I'm looking for & more.
Great for business craft supplies
I had went there twice. Before it was a rude experience the second time the lady helping me was really nice. They have a lot of stuff. Am artist can get lost
I can’t imagine why this store stays open. Unorganized is an understatement & rude staff that sneer at you the minute you walk in. In a struggling economy to Insist we show our GST number to prove we have a business to shop there is mind blowing. I’ve been shopping there for years despite the fact that it gives me shivers every time I walk in the place, to never receive a smile from anyone that works there and the look of disgust on the faces of the miserable women at the front when they look you up and down and ask if “my employer” gave me a card to shop there makes me wanna scream. But they have a monopoly on the craft supplies & when you need something quick it’s been easy to bite the bullet & run down there. Amazon & some planning in advance will take care of the frustration, but it’s pretty sad when you want to shop local & the business does everything they can to deter you. Advice: fire every single person that works there, close for a week and completely gutted and re-organize the place and re-open with an updated look, nix the membership card and make stellar customer service top Priority and your sales will triple.
the place is huge with lots of stuff from wedding materials to christmas decos! and prices seem reasonable. I would definitely be back to buy some more. The staff are nice and knowledgeable plus the fact that it’s a family owned business is impressive.
I've been going to Gale's since I moved here from Toronto about 20 years ago. Gale's is one of those stores that helps to make Regina a cool place to live. Many cities have a unique well run retail outlet or two that helps to define the city. I.E...Toronto has Active Surplus and Portland OR has Hippo Hardware. We have Gale's Wholesale and it's second to none for what they offer. It's more than just shopping...it's also the thrill of discovery when you find that item that hadn't even occurred to you that you could use.
I've shopped here for over 13 yrs for two non-profits and my business. Today I was rudely stopped at the door and treated so poorly by the employee at the front - I will do all my shopping elsewhere or online. I cannot put up with the blatent disrespect towards thier customers any further.
Wow who knew there were so many things for the hobbiest under one roof
Huge. If you're into wedding decorations and crafting supplies, they probably have what you're looking for... except yarn.
Great store and amazing selection! The service from the store owner who knows everything about his products is outstanding. He is extremely helpful and polite. Unfortunately, one lady that works there is very rude. Prevented me from going upstairs with the merchandise I was carrying in an impolite manner and in front of other customers, which caused an embarrassing situation.
Great store, need a business to shop there. They have so much stuff, sometimes it's hard to find what you are looking for, but the staff are very helpful.
If you want to be treated as a garbage- welcome to Gale’s on Elliott! Super rude staff! I just left the store without any purchase.
I have purchased a fair amount of product in the last 4 months from them. I bought a case of glass for our framing business. After I opened the box I noticed that it will not work for the main purpose I needed it for. I called the store and was told they would not take it back, I should figure out a use for it. I can't believe in this day and age that a business would not accept a return of a undamaged product. I don't even want my money back , I would exchange for a different glass that I could use. Terrible customer service. BUYER BEWARE!!
My experience was awful. You must have membership to shop here, one that they don't hand out freely i might add. The employees/owners are rude and so inconsiderate. There were two floor walkers who were following me AND recording me while I was shopping ???? STARING, SMIRKING, AND SUSPICIOUS. Being disabled and on oxygen, I was really surprised that they just watched me struggle, while demanding that I get my things out of their cart... To be fair, it's somewhat understandable that customers MUST leave their purses and such items in designated lockers... oh yeah, btw, the food items that i bought are over a year expired! ..and a firm no returns or exchanges on anything. I accept responsibility for not checking the expiration date. If i could, i would rate this place zero stars...
Be nicer to your customers. You need our business, people can and will find other places to shop.
Terrible service, cold, unfriendly. Next time I’ll go on Amazon. Too bad because I prefer to shop locally.
Staff is so rude, each time I've gone I have been treated terribly - never have had that bad of customer service before. Otherwise would be a great place, if it had employees who actually cared about their customers. Doesn't even deserve one star.
I was in Gale's wholesale today. I went to the cashier to pay for my items. My 3 old year son was holding a styrofoam candy cane he found in the store. I gave the styrofoam candy cane to the lady and said I wouldn't be purchasing it. She then told me I had to buy it because my son touch it. It was $2.65. The money isn't going to break me, it's the fact I had to pay for something just because my son touch it. There was absolutely no damage done to the styrofoam candy cane. Very miserable and unfriendly staff working the tills at Gale's. I won't be back. I'll spend my money else where. The last time I was there that same woman told me I had to keep my purse in the vehicle if I wanted to come into the store.
I was recommended to stop by this place for some sewing thread, from a class mate of mine. I don't drive, so i jumped off the bus and walked almost four blocks to this store. Right when i entered, i seen a sign that says leave back packs in front. So i asked the front desk, where should i put my backpack. She gave me an ugly look, and i turned around to see another worker standing right in front of me. I told her I'm here to buy some thread, and she told me you're not open to the public! then i told her i had to walk all the way here, then she told me i needed to leave. I honestly felt racially profiled. I have a lot of family and friends who are also Indigenous, and come here all the time. So when I told them what happened, they were shocked.
I will no longer shop at Gales !!! I was met at entrance with sanitizer. I asked is that necessary ? I quote ( if you want to come in you have to ) I said i don't agree (Well that's too bad) No concern for my allergies or sensitive skin. After 4 trigger fulls, hands dripping wet, i need to see your Gales card ! I don't have it. I recognize you so i will let you in this time but, this will be the last without your card ! As i was leaving i said to the friendly lady that i have never been so disrespected in my whole life ! in the plus 5 years going there i have never been asked for a Gales card and i won't need one because this will be the last time they ever see me there again ! This is not the first time being treated rudely by owners there ! but i can guarantee it will be the last. I try to shop local but, in this case i will make an exception. O/O Essential Elements Metaphysical If there was a minus star that would be more appropriate
Very helpful staff. Really know there products
Rude, disrespectful staff.
The new policy is awful, I’ve been going there for years to pick up supplies for school, art projects ect. When I went today I was rudely stopped and was asked if I was a member which confused me since before that was never a problem and they turned me away since I wasn’t qualified. I honestly liked this store but I guess my years of business means nothing to them. In other words even Bob Ross would call you a mistake.
The employees are extremely friendly. They have a large selection of everything and anything. Prices are very reasonable too.
Great family run business. Fair prices. Huge selection
I am not sure what changed recently, but the last 2 times I shopped here the staff were flippant and rude. We couldn't get past the front door due to unadvertised changes in policy, which would not have been a problem except for the fact that the staff was unhelpful and very rude. The employee at the front, when they asked for a membership card, treated us as an inconvenience. Not recommended.
I am not the least bit surprised to see any of the reviews say about the exact same thing that I am about to say… I have never been met with such rudeness from a sales associate before. I have shopped many times in this place previously, I have had a folder with my business name that was never an issue as soon as I came in, or when I went to make a purchase. The staff was PREVIOUSLY very courteous and polite and allowed me to shop there without making me feel like I deserved to be followed around and treated with such disrespect (both of which we were)…. This is absolutely not the case anymore.. The woman at the front immediately demanded that I put away my very small clutch purse in a locker, to my confusion as I understood the sign in the front wanting large bags and backpacks to be kept at the front to prevent items being lost to theft, but my purse was extremely small, nearly wallet sized and I could not understand why she would demand that to be put away. …I obliged, but I was still treated with extreme disrespect as she proceeded to demand that I provide a card before I am allowed to proceed any further. I informed her that I have a business file there and that I have never been asked to provide a card before, to which she very rudely denied that that was untrue (calling me a liar???)… luckily, the person I was with also had their own business and was able to provide adequate identification so that we could complete our shopping trip. As we finished our trip and proceeded to pay for our items, I went to where I knew my purse had been stored away to retrieve it to pay for my items. The woman rudely stepped in my way and grabbed my key out of my hand, stating that I am not allowed to open my own locker and that she must to be the one to do it. At this point I am beyond disgusted.. she allows me to retrieve my belongings out of the locker as she retreats back to the counter to ring in the items my friend and I had been waiting to purchase. I then overhear her very rudely and “nosily” asking my friend why we were there and why we needed to purchase such products.…WHY????? It’s one thing to be polite and make conversation, this was not the case…! I have never been met with such disrespect and outright rudeness, why does that information prove of importance to her??? On top of her extreme rudeness and unhelpfulness, she made our trip very unpleasant so for that I have absolutely no idea why she would be inquiring as to the products we were purchasing at the time. I’d had enough, to the point that I actually feel that it’s necessary to write this long of a review… I am not opposed to writing reviews, even positive ones when the time calls for it… But this was totally out of line, and absolutely uncalled for. I highly doubt I will be shopping there in the future, unless this woman hightails it to another place where she can wield an iron fist and make other peoples days miserable elsewhere, as she so clearly enjoys doing… I highly doubt I will be making a trip back there, and will be finding my wholesale products elsewhere.
I could not agree more the staff needs customer service lessons. Rude, unapproachable and just plain nasty. you are in retail and depend on sales. Sadly we canceled our account and will never return. Not sure what tyrannical group has taken over but it has ruined the experience. I would rate negative stars if I could. I managed a retail store for years and I would never ever allow anyone to speak to customers like this place does. You should be embarrassed.
UPDATE** you respond and say to email you, to continue the discussion, but yet YOU DO NOT REPLY. I have tried using 2 different email address, incase one didn't go through. Hi was there Thurs Aug 20 at 415 pm. Upon entering, I was greeted by a lady in a blue shirt. (not something like welcome to gales eithr ) just a "do you have your membership card". I said not today I just wanted to look.."you need a card". I said I know to purchase, but I just want to shop and make a list. "You need a card." I have shopped here lots before without having a card. I went out and came back in asking again I just want to make a list. When she wouldn't budge I asked if the rules just changed. " We've always been closed to the public. Go to dewdney".. She was rude. I used to always go by myself make a list of stuff that I may want for whatever event I was having, go home think about , make a budget , and a shopping list and then go back with my mom or Freinds who have a card. I have done this tons of times. There has even been times I've never had to provide card or name and was even able to purchase. Your website doesn't have the greatest description of things so that's another reason I' would go and look in person. I can understand needing a membership to purchase, but even just to look. Even Costco you can get a " visiting pass". I tried emailing first, and never got a response, so now I am writing this review.
How is this place still open?? It’s a disarrayed mess in there and the staff are wildly rude.
Below is my old review which doesn't make sense anymore. The last few times I've been in, I was told to leave. They don't have a system to keep track of people. And because I am unable to find the tiny laminated card the owner gave me. The rude lady at the till told me I couldnt come in shop anymore. She will ruin this place all on her own. This place is a gem :) hands down my favorite stop in Regina. They have everything you can think of or ever want. And if your lucky enough to chat with the owner he's one of the kindest people and knows just about everything and where to find it. This place is heaven ????
I WOULD LIKE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT GALES ! A WAREHOUSE WITH THE BEST SELECTION FROM WEDDING SUPPLIES TO MY CRAFTERS PAINTS . EVERYTHING UNDER ONE ROOF .THE STAFF ARE WELCOMING, VERY INFORMATIVE AND FRIENDLY !
If there were 10 stars, I would hit them all? This place is paradise to any crafter...
The rude treatment I have received the last four times I have shopped for supplies at Gales have forced me to leave a review. I did address this poor customer service on my last visit to Gales. The lady that was behind me in line when I was packing my car with my purchases commented that she has felt that they are unfriendly and rude. I also am friends with an owner of a store who has like myself has shopped there over the last 24 years and has had a similar experience to the last four times I have been at Gales. After looking at past reviews I see that I do not stand alone. Your responses to the reviews indicate that your words do not transfer to actions for future treatment to customers. I am 100 percent behind supporting local business but do to Gales customer service this is making this very difficult.
LOVE IT HERE!!! I get so excited about all the thing I can create.
Today was my first time visiting the store. I am a university student and I don’t have a car so I took a bus. Soon as I enter the store they told me to leave just because I had my purse And told me to put it into the car. Where I don’t have a car in this bad weather they told me to leave right away. I also had wait outside for an hour for a bus. I was very disappointed how they treated me today. I personally felt little racist today. Strong recommend not to go there......
Great mix of everything crafty
Great local wholesale crafts warehouse. Locally owned and family run.
I purchased wreath and when i open the packing to use it. I found one block of that wreath was broken. So i phone customer service after couple hours to let them about the issue. They denied to replace the wreath and end up suggesting me to tap it and use it. So i just want to advice buyers to open your product in front of cashier or someone who is in charge to make sure that you are not getting damage product.
Great place!! Helpful staff!
I’ve been to this store often. Always had a great selection and great service. Yesterday, was great selection, but the service was very, very disappointing. The lady at the till was outright ignorant. She should not be in a position to deal with the public. For this reason, I will not go back. I would not recommend Gales Wholesale anymore.
Nice place
I've had great experiences at Gales wholesale. Yes you do need a card to shop there, which means you need to either own a business (have a business license) or be there for a business (have the business license number) to get a card to shop with. They weren't always consistent with checking for your card in the past (pre covid) when it was busy in the store, but I have been shopping there for years, and it has always been required. They have a wide selection of craft inventory, for hobbiest to professional. I love this store and would recommend it to anyone.
Horrible customer service. Super rude and unhelpful.
Experience was atrocious. Walked into the wholesale location and was kicked out because I was asking how to get membership/what info they need so I can shop there. I am trying to start a business and am in need of product they sell. I left feeling very chastised for not knowing what they needed for me to shop there and was told to either go to the dewdney location or to go online. Well the website is confusing and as far as I can tell if I dont have login info then I can't find out any info on there either. I went to the dewdney location and the sales floor looked like a grenade went off. Stuff everywhere and everyone in disarray. I was told they were just moving things around, so I hope when I go back its better organized or ill have to find a different supplier. ULINE has most of the products I need and Pinnacle says they can order it in. But I had hoped for someplace I can go in and look at the products I want to buy.
Great place for supplies for special events, shows, etc. ????
What is up with Gale's return/ exchange policy? They're not in compliance with the Saskatchewan Consumer Protection and Business Practices Act. I spent literally thousands of dollars at Gale's but had to stop after they refused an exchange/ refund for a faulty item. There are plenty of local retailers who take care of their businesses and customers. Gale's isn't one of them.
Lots of stuff for crafters..Lots to choose from with decent prices.
This place has everything for every occasion and always at a great price!
