It is an absolutely beautiful Garden Centre, with plenty of products to choose from! I went home with an array of plants, and was given great advice on what soil to use for them. This used to be one of my go-to places for gardening supplies, with a huge range and really helpful staff - sadly, recently it's gone more towards organic bamboo gardening trousers and glass ornaments. Additionally, ordering one type of bark ground cover and getting a completely different type because the cashier wasn't paying attention even after repeating it three times didn't make me happy.

The customer service I received from Rob, the store manager was absolutely fantastic! I spoke to Rob on the phone, emailed him some pictures of plants I was looking for and he got back to me the same morning! He noted whether they were currently in stock or on order, the best light conditions for each plant, and made suggestions on alternate plants that would be suitable. So knowledgeable and helpful for an amateur gardener like myself. Thank you Rob!!

So far this is my favourite plant nursery in/near Vancouver. It’s easy to get to, happens to be on the 240 bus route if you’re coming in from downtown or going back once you’re done, and it has a nice selection of plants that is broader than the Vancouver norm - a major gripe I generally have with some of the more mainstream names for plant sellers closer or in downtown that seem to have the usual generic plants with little in the name of variety (don’t get me started on the African Violets… hundreds of varieties out there, but sure, let’s just sell the same 4-5 in normal and miniature varieties in all the shops in the land…) The staff is friendly, kind, sociable and knowledgeable, so far always eager to help which has been a good experience. The plants themselves seem to be in very decent shape, and while on the pricier side in some regards, I’ve always been a firm believer in paying for quality (read: bug/infestation free, in good health, etc). It’s not terribly expansive, but it’s definitely better than the smaller options downtown if you’re looking for a more interesting variety for your house plants and gardens. I’m sure the larger GardenWorks probably have more to offer and eventually I can see myself wandering their way, but I very much enjoy the convenience of being able to visit this one more easily than the others I know of so far. I do still wish there was even more variety here, it’ll do for now, but I’m admittedly spoiled by plant nurseries in and around Mexico City that have imported and grown hundreds if not thousands of varieties of almost every plant imaginable to supply the city’s 20+ millions of inhabitants as well as its outlying neighbours. Fingers crossed for seeing that someday! Meantime, GardenWorks, I’m yours!

My whole family has been frequenting the Burnaby Gardenworks for many years and we all love shopping there. Great selection, displays and staff. This is why it was such a shock when I stopped in at the North Van location. I have a toddler and couldn't find a plant cart that would accommodate him. I asked a man working there if there were any with a baby seat around and he said " there's one but it's so dilapidated I wouldn't put my kid in it" and walked off. I then carried my 30+ pound baby in one arm while pushing a cart filled with plants around the nursery with the other...not easy. Staff repeatedly cut me off so we had to stop for them to go pass and no one offered help. I needed to ask where an item was at one point and when I spotted someone who worked there she kept her eyes down and kept walking. I've read reviews for this location praising their pet friendliness but what about family friendliness? For those of us with little ones this location is a nightmare to navigate and we'll stick to our much friendlier Burnaby locations in the future.

We came here looking for pot screens to use for the drainage holes of our indoor plants and bonzai. Surprisingly, they didn't have any. The lady that worked there told us that an alternative that "most people do" is use a layer of rock at the bottom of the pot to facilitate drainage and keep the soil in the pot. She directed us to (what seemed like a fairly expensive) bag of decorative stones to use, which we bought. I was suspicious so I did some research. It turns out that, through the magic of some physics that I'll leave readers to go learn about, that rocks at the bottom of the pot not only doesn't help with drainage, it INHIBITS it! This is a second bad experience from a Garden Works. The first was a Spider Mite-infected ZZ plant from Garden Works Lougheed that reeked havoc on our plants. This, if it were possible, is worse! It's one thing to not catch an infection on a plant. It's another to flat out give WRONG advise AND sell is something based on that. Two strikes out. I'll be going to Hunter's exclusively from now on. I've always been able to go there to get advise on how to fix the problems that Garden Works cause.

I went to get some advice on what looked like grey mold on my petunias. I was referred to Jennifer for help, she just went on Google and did the same thing I did at home, I had to point out to her that the sample flower I brought in looked just like the picture of one with grey mold on a the site. I also mentioned I had what looked like an aphid problem on my nasturtiums and she recommended End all Spray. I just pulled it out to use it and it says specifically on the bottle NOT to use it on this plant. I came over the bridge specifically because this was a garden center. For this kind of poor service and absolutely no knowledge I could have gone to Home Depot and saved myself the 45 minute drive back across the bridge.

An excellent plant shop. They have lots of indoor and outdoor plants. I specially like their indoor plants. They also have lots of tropical plants. Their staff is very knowledgable and friendly. They also carry lots of planters both for outdoor and indoor. They also carry a variety of soils, perlite, and other gardening requirements and tools. There is ample parking but can get busy at times during the weekend. Their best policy is that they accept any returns with original receipt.

Look, I dont give out 5 stars easily.GW staff enjoy their jobs and it shows in hiw they help their customers. I go here every year to buy a tree for a restaurant client. These guts display many trees so you find the right one. They have ALL the varieties at ALL prices so you get the most beautiful tree for the money you have. Anothet local business that are a community favourite for years. Support them so they never leave! Go There, feel the love.

I shop here because of Gardenworks points program. I often hesitate to ask for help but, when I did ask for help the staff seems a bit stand offish. I was asked if I needed help but as I asked a question the staff started walking away in mid sentence. I have been waiting 4 weeks for an order. I was told it would be 3 days, then the next week, and it’s still not here. I drove in from Vancouver 3 times to speak to Sophie who was never in, I left 3 messages for her and she never called back once. They never answer the phone so your forced to drive there - and I saw it left off the hook one time. I have been waiting and waiting and the service has been absolutely horrible. At least call the customer back and let them know if you are backlogged or the items aren’t available or respond to the messages. Out of respect! I would not recommend this place nor go there for business ever again. This is unacceptable.

Disappointing customer service. I put a pot on hold for 24 hours on July 26 at around 4 pm but just the next morning they simply left a voice message and sold it out! When I called them back in 10 mins after their call, just received an unresponsive answer that no worries, we get another one for you in a week. Not a big deal but this customer service is not accepted for me.

I brought home hundreds of millipedes with the plants I bought here. It only happens with the plants from this store. The worst nightmare. They’re not harmful to humans but the store is creating a better condition for bugs than for some plants, such as too much water where it’s not necessary.
