My wife and have a "thing" about buying locally, from people in our community. We have, unfortunately, had 2 bad experiences with Goodman's Florists. First, I should say, that our problems have not been with the quality of their products! Our problems have been entirely with their delivery service. The first problem occurred earlier this year, when a neighbour had a death in the family, and we ordered flowers for our friends. We kept expecting our neighbour to either pop round or call us, to say that they had received the flowers. After a week, I called Goodman's and was told that the flowers had not been delivered because no one was home. I was very upset and asked why Goodman's had not phoned to arrange a convenient time for delivery. I was aware that our neighbours were in and out, making funeral arrangements, but a week of not delivering funeral flowers was completely unacceptable, specially considering that we had given Goodman's the phone number of the family, so they could arrange for delivery. The second problem occurred today. We were sent a floral arrangement for our anniversary. We had a call from Goodman's to make sure we were home to accept it. No delivery arrived, and a couple of hours later we found a message on our answering machine from the driver, Wendy, saying that she couldn't find our house, and asking us to confirm the address. I called her number and left a message saying that the address she was given was correct, and describing the truck in the driveway. A few minutes later, we had a call from Goodman's asking to confirm the address, and I, once again, repeated the message I had left for Wendy. About 15 minutes later, Wendy arrived, and we watched through the window as she went to our next door neighbour and started ring the doorbell. My wife went out and called her, and told her that if she looked on the post next to the door, she would see that she was at #25, and not at #27 where she should be. My wife also pointed out that our number was on the mailbox. The delivery driver, Wendy, said that it was NOT her fault, and that she had originally gone to #29 but got no reply. She did not explain why she went to 29 and 25 but failed to come to 27. One of the main rules of customer service, is that you NEVER argue with a customer, even if you are correct. There is an old adage that you can win an argument but lose a customer. In this case Wendy was in the wrong and should just have apologized for her mistake and got on with her day. Instead, she was surly, and left us with a very negative impression of Goodman's Florists.

I have to give Goodman's Florists a 5-Star rating, and they followed through to perfection. I found them online, and not knowing anything about them, took a chance after reading there website. They processed my order quickly, and communicated back (order confirmation, delivery confirmation) in a timely manner. They followed my special instructions and went above and beyond. Goodman's knew where the flower was going and matched the flower with the office colour's , and the recipient said it was beautifully done . Love the atmosphere. Very cool deco and floral house accents as well as your traditional flower arrangements. Cool branches and leaves hang from the ceiling. The smells of fresh flowers loomong in the air. A child like sense of wonder overcomes you as u walk through the cute rustic country feel in this shop. Ladies were so nice. And I had flowers delivered. And they were gorgeous. And the sweet girl or the delivery lady was so nice and offered some really kind words that really touched my heart.

So I gave Goodman's a few fair tries before writing this review. The pros include great, fresh floral products and a wide selection of choices. The staff are friendly and helpful and aim to suit your needs. Now, there are a few negative points where this review will touch and reflect on my overall individual needs when browsing floral shops. 1. There was only a few items out for display. There are indeed some items out; the more expensive ones are set out in the cooler for those who prefer to browse. For a person like myself, I am a flower shop novice. Since I am on the younger side, I NEED to see options and select what looks nice for my needs. The way Goodman works is that you tell the staffer what you're looking for- be it roses, or some certain arrangement. This can be good, in that they will select the appropriate arrangement for the appropriate situation, but, again, I prefer to browse and having more items on display would help me to make a decision. 2. This goes along with #1, but when telling the staffer what you are looking for, they will ask you what price range you are looking at. Now, being a floral place, and myself being a novice at these places, I have little idea of what price range normally ties into what kind of product I should be getting. Again, having a display of items with the price labeled helps me to make my own decision, and I won't feel like I will be taken advantage if I tell them a certain price range, and they give me poor value for my money; I have no idea what price to say for the arrangement that I want. Am I going to get a crappier arrangement if I say $20 compared to $30? Who knows? 3. This is separate from my review, but I believe it needs mentioning. Their signboard outside allows them to display messages to the public who are driving along the road outside the shop. Apparently they have some strange beef with Amazon taking some of their business away, and money out of the community. That happens. Goodman, please adapt, don't whine. Thanks.

I used Goodman's a couple of weeks ago to have flowers delivered to my girlfriend for her birthday and they were awesome every step of the way. The woman who assisted me helped me pick out flowers by asking questions and really trying to understand what I was looking for. The flowers were delivered at the exact time the next day as promised. The flowers were gorgeous and prices were extremely reasonable! The delivery person even wished my girlfriend a happy birthday when dropping the flowers off. Also, the flowers lasted quite a while after receiving them. Overall, 5 star service from a great local business. Will be using again in the future for sure.
