A clean & relatively well-run store, particularly when compared to other retail establishments (grocery, restaurant, or otherwise) in this neighborhood. Thankfully, there is a modern dining area w/outlets so that customers of all backgrounds, including the developmentally disabled, the self-employed, and others can charge mobile, mobility, & other devices. I, along w/many others I know, choose to spend funds here so we can enjoy our food while working in a welcoming warm environment.

Its a food store has buffet deli inside good for snacks. Generally overpriced run by cheap greedy CEOs. That pay staff cheap wages treat them like dirt. Clean inside. All supermarkets run by cheap basterds now.

This grocery store is a bit pricey to do a full shop in in my opinion but id you wanted speciality items I'd check here first. However, if you ever, ever want bakery items, this is the place. I wish would have taken a photo of the actual counter but I was distracted by all of the colorful, sugary, goodies. This is my go to spot for cupcakes and pastries and they are very reasonably priced and HUGE. They also have a large variety of other pastries as well, like lemon squares, cannolis, mini cheesecakes and bars. My treat of choice? A chocolate drizzled croissant stuffed with whipped cream and strawberry jam. It was so big I had to cut it in half. Pro tip: Go later in the evening as all of the fresh baked items are on sale.

The young girl who thought she was hot stuff with the colored blonde hair in the hot food section was a total ***** to me. All I was looking for was containers to put the hot food in. She could tell I was looking all around for the containers but she just pretended not to notice me and do other stuff behind the counter. And she seemed annoyed when I. Safeway extra? More like Safeway extra disappointed. Nothing good to say at all about this Safeway. I ordered a cake on the phone I was told was 15$ By the lady. (Terrible English on the phone) went in to pick it up and they told me the price and it was more than double that what I was told on the phone. They had made the wrong size too..., and when I told them that I was told it was 15$ On the phone they glared me up and down like I was a pig wearing a hat. If it’s your birthday and you need a cake, just put a plate out with candles on it. You’ll be way happier and won’t have to deal with the utter chaos.

Freshly renovated. They now feature an extensive selection of prepared meals, which seems to be their specialty now. I'm not too interested in that stuff, so I can't comment on the quality. The new layout puts all the packaged food aisles to the far left side of the store. It somehow seems like they have less selection, but I suppose it's just the change in layout that makes it seem that way. I expect I'll get used to it eventually.

This store has recently been renovated so its new, clean, easy to find what your looking for. They have a floral department, pharmacy, a cold and hot deli section that has really stepped up thier game as well as a starbucks and all the regular grocery store amenities. Friendly staff too!

Safeway (extra) is newly remodeled and beautifully redone. There is a lack of experience at the manager level because of separation between other safeways. This trickles down the line. Also on the pricier end of things but they sometimes have single items on sale.

Used to LOVE Safeway Sandwiches. They were amazing. I have not had one in years since the Safeway in Courtenay closed, so we bought some at this store when in town on the weekend. The Ciabatta bread was incredibly dry, the tomatoes on the sandwich were terrible (hard to believe considering that Tomatoes are in season locally now and awesome everywhere... where did they find these terrible tomatoes)? Seems like way less meat on the sandwich then before. Regretted getting food there. $40 for terrible sandwiches. Should have gone to Subway - cheaper and better. Is this what happens when Sobeys buys out businesses, they go straight downhill?

Great store to shop at particularly during the pandemic. The store was regularly cleaned (the manager met regularly with staff and asked them to bring their cleaning logs). All staff are still wearing masks even though it is not required. Prices are reasonable and the store was remodeled two years ago and is more modern than most Safeway stores. We have been shopping at the Willowbrook store since moving to Langley in 1982. I highly recommend the store.

Simply better service. You can keep your 10 cents a can cheaper coffee, Walmart and no frills, Safeway knows what 'Customer Service' actually means. In a day and age when everyone wants to offer less at the cheapest price, Willowbrook Safeway still bags your groceries, helps you out to your car, doesn't charge you for bags, The clerk will take you right to the item you ask about instead of, "I think it might be in aisle 3..or 7..if we still have it.." They bake in store and fresh every day, they still have a butcher that will cut the meat the way you want it. They actually seem to *want* to be helpful instead of just being there to pass time and get through their shift.

A great looking Safeway now that renovations have finished, which appears to have taken some notes from Whole Foods with their expanded ready-made and organic food options. Their selection of staple groceries and bakery options seems to have reduced, making way for a much bigger deli and bulk-binned goods section. Some change is good, but I do miss the great selection of individual fresh baked buns and bread they once had...

After the renovations, this Safeway is now very open and now has a sushi bar. In addition it has a rather large seating area after the checkout so you can sit down and eat your food. The layout is WAY different then it used to be but it looks WAY better. Also, Safeway prices have gotten better lately so that's a plus as well. There are plenty of checkout counters open and a self checkout. The service it get here is great as well!

So much more of a calm experience in opposition to Superstore. First, grab a coffee at Starbucks inside the store, the cart has a cup holder for your coffee, leisurely shop without the crowds and best of all, you don't have to bag your own groceries! Cost a bit more, but totally worth the sanity. ????

This Safeway is newer than the other Safeways in the area with an organic, seafood, and a health & wellness section. Plus plenty of fresh produce and baked goods. Store is well stocked, and no matter what I'm needing, I can usually find it. Whenever, I shop at this Safeway (Willowbrook) it's not hectic or chaotic with hurried shoppers - I'm shopping between 10 and 3. Customer service is hit or miss but there is an awesome lady that works in the seafood section. My experience with Deli staff that make sandwiches is that although breakfast sandwiches are tasty - service is slow. I also appreciate that I never have to look for a parking spot.

Ok this place is usually awesome staff wise. First time I came for a bday cake it went well aside from whomever wrote happy birthday didnt know how to even spell that so it had to get redone and staff was nice enough to fix it no prob and deducted price for their mistake. They were very polite . But this time the person in the bakery seemed irritated she even had to help me. Asked for a bday cake and she just quickly put it in a container. Didnt ask what I wanted written out or anything. Tossed it on the counter and seemed annoyed that I had to ask for a birthday plastic sign that I could even put on the cake. Thanks for making my dads cake less special ????

Went Saturday-they didn't have it in yet.Went Wednesday-still no turkeys-they had brought in 40.When you bring in such a small amount for such a good price isn't that a loss leader or bait and switch. This has to be the most mismanaged store in the chain. I went there this morning to pick up just a few items. Self checkout had 5 people in line with 1 checkout open (the other 4-5 closed). No staff monitoring the machine that did not work. Why would anyone spend 20 minutes waiting to buy 4 items? Clerk who finally showed up was not the least bit helpful and complained that she was he only one working ( I saw at least 5 staff walking around doing nothing) Asked to talk with the manager but he/she didn’t bother showing up. Probably hiding in an office somewhere. I will be taking my concerns to the corporate head office. The customers at this location deserve far better service than is being provided. I’m certain a high school student could manage this store better than the current individual.

My only complaint is they are seemingly ALWAYS out of their chicken noodle soup, I’ve lucked out and found some left maybe 1/10 times. Came in and tried to order a fresh sub at about 8pm was informed by the staff member that they closed at 8 even though all the food was still out and wasn't being put away. Talked to the manager Ashley who was very friendly and professional and she took care of me. From a management point Ashley gets a 5/5 all day. I always go to the bakery because their cakes are usually good. I love the black forest and bought one for a birthday party. When I cut into it it was solid cake with no layers just whipped cream on the sides and top. They just dumped a bunch of cherries on top that ran off the cake soon as as I cut it. Disappointing.

I ordered chocolate covered strawberries for Christmas Eve both from here and Save On Foods. They had no record of my order when I arrived at Safeway to pick up my order. The kind lady in the bakery section offered to make them for me, so I thought that was good. The berries were so much smaller than the Save On ones and the chocolate was darker and not as good of a quality of chocolate as the Save On, ones. The lady at the bakery felt bad so she gave me 14 chocolate covered strawberries instead of the 12 I ordered. I was not happy to see she had put candy sprinkles on them, but since they were so busy, I graciously bought them anyway. Safeway has some good products but not their chocolate covered strawberries. The presentation and packaging were not as good as the Save On ones either. They were pricey and not worth the price at all. I also bought lobster tails that day, for Christmas dinner,once I cooked them they shrank to a very small peice of meat, very small. The lobster tails had been frozen for quite sometime as when I got them home they had ice on them inside the package. I was not happy with my Safeway purchases on December 24, not the quality I normally get from Safeway.

I've been shopping here since covid because everywhere else is crazy. There is so much selection, space and freedom to move around and the customer service is A+. Only downside is some prices are a little more but sometimes you get what you pay for.
