I love going there, they usually have what I need, and there are so many things and something for everyone. However the last couple times I've gone there were some stocking issues. I went in on Friday to buy DMC floss and there were a bunch that I needed missing from the shelf, it was later on so I just assumed they hadn't had a chance and would restock right away. I went back on Monday and they were still not stocked, and there were a bunch more missing. I asked one of the associates if they had them in the back, she scanned one of the codes ( There were about 15 different ones I needed) and she told me that they had that one in the back, but was unable to get it for me. I asked when they would be stocked she told me they would be stocked at the end of the week, and to call ahead to make sure they have them stocked. I didn't think it was the customers job to call in and check if the staff are doing their jobs. I will still go back though because I like a lot of the things they do end up stocking.

Great place for craft, scrapbooking. Lots of house decor. Art supplies are pricy, but with 40-50% coupons and frequent visits, it's nice. Scale model section hasn't been restocked in years, sadly. Good selection of dowels and balsa wood. Tons of different types of loose leaf paper and stickers. Expensive sketchbooks - unless you use coupons. No newsprint pads for live sketching.

Unfortunately, they didn't have what we were looking for when we came here last time. We encountered both a really friendly and helpful woman who was working the till and one who was working the floor who was not in such a good mood. It isn't great to feel like an annoyance when you ask someone for a little help. The store was pretty empty at the time.

The staff in the framing department spent time helping me figure out the most economical approach to framing my drawings. She made good suggestions. Afterwards, she and other staff showed me to take advantage of the coupons offered online when shopping at the stores. I now have more ideas of things I will be able to keep doing in future when I draw portraits of family and friends. The ongoing sales and the coupons really make a big difference so remember to ask to make certain you get the most for your dollars. I was able to cut in half the cost of framing my portraits.

Honestly, Michael's just isn't what it used to be. It's harder to find what one is looking for and many times it just seems over priced. There are some great finds every so often, but it's hit and miss. Staff are friendly though, and store is generally clean. Shelves are well stocked.

I love the selection of products, don't love the coupon system. This store has just about anything you could want for crafting, no matter what niche craft you are into. My only complaint is that they insist on using coupons, meaning if you go there without one you will always feel like you aren't getting the best deal. This Michael's was a pleasure to shop at. There was ample parking, even for 11 days before Christmas! The store had plenty of Christmas items for 60% off and really good sales on the regular stock. I was most impressed that there was staff on the floor who asked me if I needed help finding anything. At my location, you usually can't find anyone to help you. Checkout was a breeze. Whatever your craft, Michaels has the raw materials. Prices are reasonable and there are sales often. The entrance is wheelchair with automatically opening doors. The washrooms are also accessible. Staff are always willing to help reach items from high shelves and give advice on projects.

Sign up for their club card, you get regular emails with coupons to use in store, but be sure to read the exemption list before making your purchase. Finding it difficult to find the pens I need. They've sorted store with different brands like Artist Loft, Crafter's, etc but running all around the store just for pens it weird. There was another customer in the same situation. Pens all over store, and couldn't find. They should put all pens : chalk, acrylic paint, gel, etc in same rows. Same with paint, and etc. That way it's all in 1 place. Then if they want to ocd it, they can display with the brand's. Also noticing prices are really high here. There's something at the Dollarama for $4 but here, it's exactly the same size for $10. Outlandish. Aside from those things, I do enjoy looking at the unique items like buttons etc, and the fabric sqaures at cheaper than Walmart. Ranging from $1.99-2.47 whereas at Walmart it's $2.97. Pretty nifty. Though the flannel, and cotton, fleece fabrics at $17+ and that's a bit crazy prices. It's great with coupon. Otherwise... I like the location, as it's got library Emily Carr, Petstore, shoppers, and downstairs Walmart. So, if your family is bored, they've got options. Us crafters? We can spend hours here haha.

My only complaint is the curbside pick up. 3 out of 3 times Ive ordered online, I had to wait inline at the store, then, the cashier had to grab an iPad, try to login and at this stage, all 3 times the iPad wouldn't allow them to login to it, and they had to grab a backup iPad, sign in and then go out back and grab my purchase. 2 out of 3 times it would have been twice as fast to go in, shop, lineup and ring in my order. Small complaint, but where I could order all of these supplies at Amazon without any hassle of waiting on folks to figure out thier technology. Seems like having a dedicated counter would be the best approach but hey, Michaels, reachout, I'll give you some ideas in exchange for art supplies ???????? Happy crafting folks! -Rob

Edit: No more 50% off coupons, no point in coming to this overpriced store. Dollarama is an affiliate store, so you can find a lot of Michaels items there for an actually reasonable price. Don't like coming here after some genius decided to create "Everyday Value" items. You can't use your coupon on these items, and the everyday deal is just a few dollars knocked off the original price; the coupon would have been a better deal in the long run. More and more items keep getting added to the coupon restrictions as well. Came here to compare bench scrapers, theirs was 4x price of the one I bought, and mine had a ruler on it. I found the perfect one at Winners for $4.99, not a whopping $19.99 plus tax. Even if I used a 50% off coupon, it'd still be double the price.

Love Michaels! They're pricey but not too bad when they have sales or when using their weekly coupons. You can always find great gift options and unique arts and crafts there. It's the best place to go for picture frames and photo albums too. There always seems to be a lineup though despite having 4 or 5 cash registers. They should have 2 or 3 cashiers always on but they only ever seem to have 1. When they do call for backup help, customers have been waiting in line for 10 mins or more and they're fed up. Parking lot is nice and big and you can always get a parking spot close to the doors which is nice. Staff are usually pretty friendly. Store is in a very convenient location.

Michael's is a wonderful store yet the lack of staff ready to help is a real problem; at least that is when I visited the store on November 23. The store has so much to offer that without helpers shopping becomes a marathon while searching for what is needed. Hopefully, that is only my experience. this is by far the most disorganized franchise I've ever been in, They're the only major arts and crafts store around, saw some items I was interested in on their Online store, you can't order anything from them. And staff have no way of looking something up since they don't even use Product or SKU numbers, nor will they order anything for you even if you speak to them on the phone Manager told me "if we don't have it, you should check another Micheals, in Fredericton or Halifax". I almost laughed when I heard that, Drive 3 hours only to get the same response, hahaha. I'll never shop at this joke of a store again.

Michael's is a big box store with supplies for many different kinds of crafts, but if you are seriously into your craft you will probably prefer to go to a specialty store that has better variety and quality in the specialty area. It's the difference between a department store and a boutique. Handicap access is pretty good, with flat access and wider aisles. Parking and bathrooms are accessible, too. You might need help to reach items on higher shelves.

I used to love this location, but the last few times I have visited there is one particular full time employee I've noticed because she is extremely snarky and rude to customers. Pretty sure she's a team lead for evening and weekend shifts. I have never experienced it myself, but most certainly have witnessed the exchanges. This employee needs to be mindful of her tone with others especially working in retail. Customers should be allowed to ask questions without feeling they are annoying staff.

In comparison to other Michaels stores, this particular one is pretty awful. They have poor selection, it's very hard to find staff to help, it's not very often that a staff member is knowledgeable enough about the products to help, prices are high. I only go to this store if no other store in North Bay has what I'm looking for. Oh, and they cannot special order items from their website (what's the point of showing products if you can't get them?), or get items from other stores. If they're out of something that they've definitely carried before, staff won't be able to tell you if it will be shipped to their store again, because ordering is apparently handled at the corporate level. Now for the positives: It's a very clean store... You'll never find their products dusty or find garbage/damaged products anywhere. If I'm looking for something specific and they don't have it, they'll often have something similar that will do until I can order something online, and considering that they are pretty much the only craft store in North Bay, they do have a lot of departments within the store (just not a lot of selection in these departments).

This store used to be fun and exciting to shop in, with friendly staff greeting me and able to help. However, that seems to have changed over the last few months and it is very quiet and rather depressing. On my last visit, I actually thought someone was stalking me -- I was looking at seasonal and a man kept walking past and kind of peeking at me from the end of the aisle which was quite unnerving. Turns out he worked there, but didn't ask me if I needed help or anything, or even make himself known other than peeking at me and then retreating when I looked his way. Maybe because I'm an aboriginal person he thought I was stealing something instead of shopping? I noticed his vest as I was walking to the till and he told me to have a good day. Other than the cashier that was at the till when I walked in and the creepy employee peeking at me, I didn't see anyone else in the whole store. Luckily I knew where things were, otherwise I probably would have walked out in frustration at the lack of service and hospitality. I don't think I'll be going back though. I'd rather order my supplies online.

For several years the closest Michaels to me was 90 miles away, so I was thrilled when a store was built literally 5 mins. from our home! I generally visit the store a couple times a month, however if I am mid project, or it is a specific season, Christmas for example, I am sometimes visiting weekly. The staff are friendly and helpful, product is always available when I require it, only drawback can be the prices. (I especially dislike when the US price is still attached to the product, as it is always cheaper than the Canadian price). Thank goodness for sales and the discount coupons!

Terribly rude sales clerk. Damaged goods. I was very excited and happy to see that Michaels was offering curb side pick up in these times of self isolation. I called to ask if they could do me a favour and check over my canvases to make sure that they were straight and not dented as I was driving an hour and a half to get there. The clerk was abrasive and snappy but she placed the supplies into my car and I appreciate the service and gesture. I am upset with the miss handling of my items. I bought nearly $200 of supplies including 5 large canvases. I came home and moved the first canvas inside and the one underneath had a scuff tearing through the gesso and the fabric. I hadn't even touched the canvas at all. When I called to ask for a solution and perhaps an apology. I was confronted with her rude and defensive demeanour. She insisted that she checked over the canvases in the store. If thats the case then *something* from the store to my car had ruined my $70 canvas. Their customer service 1-800 number is useless. My advice to the staff. Slow down. Carry large items one at a time and be more careful to not knock them off door frames or curbs. Apologize with grace.

We were here April 7 in the afternoon with my nephew (3 years old ) got a squishy ball in a net. it was neat you squish the ball and it comes thought the net. We put it in the basket when we got to the till the older lady was not very nice at all we paid and left went we got in the car and I gave him his new toy as soon as he squished it the inside contents went all over him. so I took it and everything I could get and went back in. The older lady that cashed us out was still there and I told her what happened she said and I quote " tell him not to squish it so hard than, and this wont happen." I don't come to this store for myself, but my wife shops here often and I'm almost always with her when she does. I have an observation that applies to the whole chain and is not specific to this particular store: The coupon system seems incredibly confusing and sneaky. My wife has tried on multiple occasions to use the email / online coupons only to get told that her item is not covered by the coupon. I don't think I've ever gone to the cash register and not heard a cashier tell either my wife or another customer when the coupons apply and when they don't. This kind of leads me to believe that their coupon system is mostly fluff and markets itself as more applicable than it actually is.

VERY DISAPPOINTED...... I WAS very excited to take my first class but was misinformed and misguided every step of the way. I called to inquire about registering and was told that the class was empty, nobody had registered and that I should try calling shortly before the class started to make sure it was still happening. So I call before and was told that it was still on and to come to the class. When I arrived I went to the cashier and she tells me that the class is completely full. Not sure how it went from empty to full in a couple of hours?? I would have come into the store to pay and register before, if the lady who was supposed to know this information had told me to do so. I'm not sure why nobody knew enough to give me the correct information but it is very clear that they have no idea about good customer service because when they realized their mistake they didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. Not nice!!!

Michael's frames are way overpriced. I was quoted $700 for a simple black frame with no matte, for a picture that was 20 inches long, 13 inches wide - a standard stadium picture. Michael's is heaven for crafty, artsy, project oriented people. It was tons of ideas and supplies for creative projects. My only complaint on my last visit was the young lady at the cash. I had the Michael's app for the 40% off discount but she said they needed to see the qr code . It was not easily found on the app and she waa rude and stressed about the line being held up. So she used a code she had at the cash- but did not tell me. They should be able to show us how to use their app to help their 50+year old customers! :)

This is mainly a review of the framing department. I had a very inexpensive print I wanted framed and some damage addressed. The young woman who helped me was attentive, resourceful and identified some cost effective and aesthetically pleasing options. Very pleased with the service.

The store is clean and well stocked. The staff are friendly and helpful. If I were to criticize anything, it wouldn't be specific to this location, but more so to Michael's as a chain. While I appreciate the loyalty perks and coupons, these things must be considered in light of prices that are definitely higher than they need to be. I continue to shop at Michael's for the quality of its product and the variety of art and crafting materials, but I would still stand by my statement on price.

Went here during Covid lock down because large corporations were the only places open and my friend needed some beads for a clothing project she had to finish for a client. It seems like every time I go to a Michael's anywhere in Canada even without a global pandemic the service is just garbage. Support your local craft/art stores when you can.

Lots of great stuff and the staff was friendly and helpful, but MAN was stuff expensive. Hobbies are for fun, and creativity requires some good tools sometimes. But a chunk of styrofoam should not cost $20! Is it the economics of running the business, or just greed? Because dollar stores seem to be doing ok and their stuff is way cheaper. Perhaps the pricing could meet closer to a middle ground to treat employees well while giving hobbyists the tools they need at a reasonable price!

Great location with an organized store and plenty of parking space. The cashier was the only staff I interacted with but it was a very easy interaction as she was very personable. The store had good options with varying price tags, like lower-end painting supplies, ranging up to the high quality options. There were also a good amount of summer sale items clearly labelled around the store. I went in for one thing and left with several, and am quite happy with my decision to shop here.
