An updated store, complete with most amenities (ie. Deli, bakery). The store layout itself feels a bit cramped. They have fit a lot into a little. Expect everything you would from a Safeway

If I could rate zero stars I would. The last 3 weeks I have been staying at the Ramada next door for work. I have been to this Safeway many times now and I am astonished how rude the people working here are; I experience this every time I go in there. One occurrence, I was the only one in line and I let an elderly gentleman wearing a legion vest in front of me and the lady from the til was rudely barking at him to go to the back of the line (even after I told her I let him in front). I never mentioned my experiences to my wife or my co-worker. My wife came to visit and after going there for a coffee, she came back with a similar experience. This morning my co-worker asked me if I had gone there for groceries, and then continued to tell his experiences and how rude the employees in the building were and that there is zero "customer service". What an awful experience. We will be driving down the street for groceries from now on.

Produce is low quality and in limited selection like the rest of Hinton. Items very frequently out of stock. Only ever 2 checkouts open, could be the day before Thanksgiving with 15 carts in line or a horrific Blizzard with 1 person in the store, there will be 2 check outs open.

Asked if till was open, cashier rudely yelled " no, back of the line," Did not know you had to be called. After waiting, first cashier leisurely took her time wiping counter completely ignoring me like I was bothering her for shopping there. After paying, first cashier gave me a scolding look as I left, wow. On top of that, went for a steak, the entire meat section was unedable. Literally some of the steaks looked black, not browning , black! Horrible place, will definitely be shopping se where.

I live in Kelowna and wanted to arrange a a Christmas gift of steaks for my daughter in Hinton rather than the traditional "gift Basket" from floral, Spoke to Store manager on Dec 22/19 and she refused to process my credit card by phone because my request was "against company policy".. My question: If floral department can accept credit by phone, why not the meat dept.? I have shopped here since they opened. I was in the store one day and I had my purse stolen from me. This store went out of their way to help me. Right down to letting me take my groceries home with me that day without paying for them. Exemplary employees and management. They always have the items I am needing to get. Produce and meat are fresh. In store washroom. Ample parking.

They consistently list groceries as being "on sale" or so called discounts for purchasing multiples and yet they're still very often double the price of groceries in Edson and Whitecourt. One of the most annoying things is when you're told how much you've "saved today" no, the truth is I've not been out of town for a week and have no choice but to purchase a few essentials. We aren't eligible for Northern Alberta tax relief so why are we charged Northern Alberta prices?

Thank you for rudely barking at us for accidentally walking up to a till with our items. Your signage is p-poor. There are no stanchions and if you want us to stand far from the till in a random spot, make it obvious. Put in a speaker system so we know when the next spot is ready. Stanchion the area off so that people don't just walk up. I saw 2 other people do it after I did. I know that it's Covid and patience is wearing thin BUT we're all in this together. The person you barked at may also be an essential worker, just like you, that DOESN'T rudely bark at people. Also, your prices are really high.
