If you are thinking of booking Rook & Rose for an event, especially for a wedding, read this review. During a pandemic, the way this company has chosen to do business is disappointing and shameful. We booked with Rook & Rose back in 2019 and paid the deposit. Once COVID happened, we had to postpone to June 2021. Once again, COVID was not getting any better to accommodate our 100+ people wedding, so we decided to cancel. Now, I understand keeping some of our deposit, however this company insisted on keep 100% of the deposit. We gave them 6 months notice of our cancellation. Keep in mind, they did not provide any services at this point. They were NOT willing to work with us in any regard, and at one point they told my Fiancé to stop calling them. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I picked up the bouquets on June 19 (for no event), and by June 21 they had all died. One was also full of aphids. I am very sad to have wasted my time and money with this company. There are many other florists in Victoria - I suggest choosing a different florist for your special day.

Rook & Rose is my favourite flower shop in Victoria. The plants and blooms are beautiful–so healthy and always in perfect condition–and the overall aesthetic of their store, products and services is beautiful: modern with a touch of tradition; minimalist without being stark; clean without sterility. Their soy candles, spritzers, prints and other home wares are just as gorgeous as their plants and arrangements, and every time I go on there, no matter who I speak to, I'm always greeted with smiling friendly faces and fun conversation. I can't recommend them (nor their Instagram account!) enough. Love R&R <3

Rook and Rose did our wedding flowers and they seriously went above and beyond for us. We had to postpone our wedding due to Covid and they were happy to book a new date for us the following year at no extra cost. Erica was so friendly and easy to work with - you can tell she is very passionate about her work and takes her client’s vision seriously. She was also very accommodating with our budget and made sure to tailor our order to include everything that we were wanting. When we finally saw our end product, we were absolutely amazed. The flower arrangements, bouquets, boutonnières and greenery garlands were all incredible and more beautiful than we could have dreamed! I can’t say enough how highly I recommend Erica and the whole Rook & Rose team, their unique, gorgeous designs and customer service are just beyond exceptional.

Would not recommend. The size of bouquets for the price is inequitable, some of the flowers in the bouquet were wilted upon arrival, the flowers are all dead after only 4 days and problem solving after the fact was unsatisfactory. I never complain on social but I couldn't help warn others. I think the staff were pleasant and responsive enough but overall was not a good experience for me as the flower gifter and for the receiver. it was unimpressive and unsatisfactory overall. We bought an $8 Lily bouquet at the grocery store 10 days ago and they are going strong. For $100 I spent on the bouquet before tax and delivery I could of spent on more Lily's and filled the house! Sorry, the value was just not there. I hope they can take this feedback and figure it out.

My husband and I had a destination wedding at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, B.C.! We chose Rook & Rose for our vendor because we liked their style the best. Both Erica and Ellie were so friendly and helpful during all of our phone consultations and email communication. They really worked with us and our budget. We gave them inspiration photos for my bouquet, guestbook table arrangement, and tablescapes for our U-shaped table. They had really good customer service and we were excited we booked them for our vendor. They had us come into the shop for a sneak peek to see our flowers. Our colors were gold and blush pink, so we mostly went with blush pink flowers. I was surprised to see some orange roses as part of our flowers, so I asked Erica where they were going to use them. Erica explained they were going to mix some orange into our tablescape to soften the blush pink. I said I was okay with that because they were the experts, but I specifically requested no orange flowers in my bouquet. I also had Erica show me a mock boutonniere since I never gave them an inspiration photo for my husband's boutonniere. I was happy with the mock trial. I went over and confirmed all the final details with Erica before we left our sneak peek. She took notes and was very attentive. However, when my bouquet was delivered to me in the bridal suite on our wedding day, it had orange roses in it. My inspiration photo had roses and peonies in it with greenery. The bouquet they created for me was almost fully just roses. My husband and I did first look photos from 3-5pm. The flowers were delivered at 2pm. My husband's boutonniere broke during our first look photos....not even an hour into our first look. Our amazing photographer tried his best to fix the boutonniere for the time being, and he made it work temporarily. After our ceremony and early into the reception, my husband had to take off his boutonniere. Overall, we were not satisfied with Rook and Rose. We felt we did not get our money's worth, and we were disappointed in the end. We really wish we did not have to write a negative review, but sadly, it is what we had to do.

Not your average flower shop -- Unique arrangements, impeccable style. The online shop is also wonderful, and there is a wonderful array of plants, flower arrangements and other products to choose from. Prices are reasonable considering the quality, and there seems to be a little something for everyone. Will definitely return.

Very happy with the dried custom arrangement I ordered through Rook & Rose! I’ve seen their little arrangements throughout town, and wanted one in a specific colour palette to honour my grandparents, who very recently passed. When I arrived, the bouquet was larger than expected, but was easy to cut down to the size I needed for my vase. They came under my budget, and worked really well with the creative theme/colour palette I gave them. After I picked up my bouquet, the store owner was in touch, and it was definitely that little cherry on top. So local, and so lovely. I’ll definitely be coming back for more arrangements for around the home. ????

I got two corsages from Rook and Rose for a graduation. I sent a photo for an idea of what I wanted which included white roses and small white flowers, and asking for black ribbon in the corsage. They received the picture and it went quite nicely from there. They were very helpful, although the didn't have any black ribbon and asked me to go buy some and bring it to them. When I got my corsages, they were nothing like the photos. The main flower was strawflower of some sort with ornamental straw or grass in it as well. It was nice, but not at all what I'd hoped for. They also only used the ribbon for a wrist band and only on one corsage, so they didn't match. Overall, I payed 50$ for corsages (which didn't match) I could have made myself with 10$ worth of material. I was not there to pick up the flowers, so I could not say anything in the moment. I definitely feel as if I payed for the Johnson st. rent and not the flowers. A few friends also got corsages from here and were also disappointed with the results which were very different from their expectations. They were very cute and I'm sure would have fit some people's views, they just failed to mention they would not be accommodating and matching the photo I provided. Here are photos of the corsage I asked for and the ones I got. Again, these are nice just not what I was hoping for. I hope nobody else makes the same mistake I did

I love Rook and Rose!! I moved to the island 5 years ago now, and loved to pop into their beautiful little store on my way home from school. You can tell that precision and an artists careful eye goes into everything they do. The staff always go above and beyond to help, I remember one time I had bought a little pot from value village and had purchased a succulent from their shop to put into it, and the lovely lady working took the time to help me get the sticker off with goo gone and planted the succulent for me, and even watered it!! I ordered a tote and flowers to be delivered to my friend today and they did such a beautiful job, she was so happy with them (as was I!!) I love how you get to choose a colour pallet when ordering, it's such a wonderful way to personalize your order. I'll always associate Rook and Rose with one of the things I find so special about living on this beautiful island. Much love, sam

I've worked with rook and rose for a few weddings and they nail it out of the park every time. Everything they create is absolutely stunning. They have an artful eye and talent unique to the island. Their shop is also filled with the most incredible and beautiful pieces. Most from local artists. Every time I go in, I want to buy everything. I also rent their LOFT quite often. It's this incredible, clean, white, minimalist space. It's perfect for photo shoots as the light is always beautiful and they have designed it SO well. Every time my clients walk in I always hear "ohhh" and "ahhh this place is amazing!" Even the kitchen and bathroom are photo worthy. They really go above and beyond. Everything from sparkling water in the fridge, to rose water mist the bathroom. They've taken the time to put thought into every corner. It's always immaculate and ready to shoot when I arrive and the service is top notch. They are kind, professional, and accommodating. There's no other space like it and theres a reason it's my favourite place to rent/ shoot in all of BC. Thank you for creating such a beautiful space for artists to create and for putting so much thought into every corner you designed. This peaceful little place will always be my favourite.

Talk about amazing service! I live in Toronto and was on the hunt for J. Hannah nail polishes, which are so hard to find here. I emailed Rook & Rose because they carried a huge selection of all the colours I wanted. Even though the nail polishes were local pick up only, they were so kind and offered to ship the nail polishes to me. One of my polishes was a bit old and was defective and Erica, the owner, mailed me a new bottle. The service is incredible and the team is incredibly kind and helpful! Love this shop!

They were incredibly patient in explaining to us all the types of arrangements and details that were available and just as patient as we went back and forth to create a final order that fit within our budget. The day of, the team went beyond what was expected to help ensure our floral arrangements and greenery were used to the fullest extent. They are truly experts who knew how to make a cohesive look throughout our venue (Sea Cider). We're amazed at how they took very few specific details from us other than a handful of pins on Pinterest, and came up with floral arrangements and greenery we loved. We were severely disappointed with this vendor and how they chose to "work" with us in the middle of a pandemic. We had to cancel our wedding because we couldn't get across the border and they ended up keeping our full deposit. All other vendors in CA handled this beautifully and refunded full deposits in the interest of doing the right thing. We understand this is an incredibly difficult time for both business owners and clients. Be aware there is no flexibility with this vendor if things don't go perfectly as planned.

Erica, the owner, has personally assisted me in all of my professional and personal floral requests, and I've never been disappointed with the results! BEWARE of booking with this company (and read the fine print on the contract). They are not reasonable, even amidst a pandemic. It's always unfortunate when a company doesn't do right by their customers. After our venue cancelled due to Covid and the border from US -> CA closed, we were forced to cancel our wedding. Every other vendor we put deposits down with were willing to refund everything or come to an arrangement where they met us halfway. Rook & Rose wouldn't budge on anything and instead offered us dried flowers to be mailed to the US.... This was an unfortunate choice on their part and I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

What a wonderful place! A great selection of beautiful arrangements and a professional, client-oriented approach to business. After searching major fIorists online, I found that they were not taking new orders for same day delivery on Christmas Eve. Then I saw the ad for the Rook and Rose, and my order taken and delivered the same day! What impressed me most was how they were extremely helpful and courteous. They even followed up with emails when I was concerned about a potential delivery mix-up. As it turns out, I was wrong and the flowers had been delivered. They care about their clients and it shows. I'm in Ontario and could not be with family at Christmas this year because of restrictions, so they made my day. I will definitely return to Rook and Rose when I am looking for flowers.

I ordered fresh flowers for my stepmom for her birthday and it was a wonderful experience. I called them in and the employee on the phone was helpful and lovely to speak to. I loved that I could choose between different colour palettes for the 'designer's choice' so I could pick a vibe that I thought would suite my stepmom's home without having to fuss over what the actual flowers were (I love flowers but I'm no expert). The flowers were gorgeous and so contemporary. I love fresh flowers of all kinds but Rook & Rose's were really something special and unique, not your regular flower shop at all.

This is my second time purchasing an arrangement. The first was for a friend and then I decided to treat myself to one of their dried arrangements. I absolutely love that it's going to last and looks perfect on our table. I also received a personal follow up email from the owner thanking me for the purchase which I thought was a thoughtful touch. I'm sure I will purchase future arrangements and would recommend to others.

This is the worst experience I have had with planning my wedding bouquet. They were impossible to get responses from, I would email them with my concerns and questions with my bouquet and they were too busy to answer any questions I had . Giving up, I struted my butt down to the store myself to make sure everything's taken care of. It was disappointing that I could not rely on them as I was very busy. The bouquet was just ok, the flowers were really fragile and looked like they were gasping their final breaths of life. before I even arrived at my venue, a few roses asked me to tell they family they loved them, before wilting into their graves making me sad before I married my husband. The others were coughing and begging for water. I spent an extra 20 bucks to have some flower pieces made for my hair, they were so fragile that they broke while my hair dresser was placing them. Only one survived, and the poor flower had PTSD from watching his mates die. He never recovered fully. I would recommend another place or robbing a neighbors garden before coming here. Organizing a wedding is frustrated enough, you really don't need to plan flower funerals as well because of their health. FYI, I ran into some problems about three weeks prior my wedding and wanted to cancel my order , and the girl who I Suspect is the owner told me they were not there so she could not make decisions and then also told me they have no return, 'F You' policy. So I was basically 'De-flowered' before my husband had the chance. I believe better quality service and flowers can be found else where.

An amendment from my review in April 2020. I purchased two Herbivore products on sale last April. Herbivore products were supposed to last about a year, I expected due to the sale price maybe a bit less. However my product (Prism) turned almost back a month ago and was not useable. After contacting Herbivore they let me know the product I bought in April 2020 was made in December 2018 and had expired December 2019. I had bought a product that had expired 4 months before the purchase date and had been using it frequently. When I contacted the store to let them know they were (or had as they no longer carry apothecary) selling an expired product I was told I had just purchased it as a discount so it didn’t really count. I don’t know if the person I talked to misunderstood what I was saying however there should have been due diligence not to sell an expired product. I will not be buying any more body products from Rook & Rose, just flowers.

We arranged for our wedding flowers through Rook & Rose, including the bouquet, boutonnieres, centerpieces, flowers for my hair and the cake, as well as a garland for our head table. We live on the mainland and had our wedding on the Island so we did our initial planning and consultations by email and over the phone. Erica and her team were just fantastic from the get go. We spent a good amount of time going over our plans and designs for the wedding. I was able to send photos of the kinds of ideas we had and the team were able to recreate them beautifully. They allowed us to use our own jars for the centerpieces and pick up the flowers ourselves as a way for us to stick within the budget we had. We received a full and transparent cost breakdown before committing to anything. We didn't have the biggest wedding with the most extravagant displays because we were going for a more low key rustic feel, but never did we feel we were being judged or up sold on anything. We simply couldn't have asked for better service or quality.
