Run by a lovely Chinese couple. It's fried fish and fries people. If you have a hankering, then come on down. The coleslaw is pretty good. I slather my fish with tartar sauce (AS IT SHOULD BE) so I don't really know how the quality stacks up. As I'm writing this, I wouldnt mind going for some now.

One of the last of the old time fish and chip places.... because who wants to pay an extra 6 bucks for a garnish and a fancy table? Just finished eating there... 13.68 for a halibut and chips... took about 4 minutes between my order being taken and the food arriving HOT on a heated plate... plenty of time to eat it... fish was cooked expertly even though this place is likely to be forced into 'healthy oils' which are usually terrible for cooking fish and chips... chips were double dropped and uniform and complimented the fish well... seems to attract a crowd of those looking to eat cheaply... I highly recommend this place for utility food, cheap fast takeout, and all manners of tradesmen and construction workers...

Picked up a 3 halibut and 2 chip family meal Friday evening. Got home and everything looked great, the fries were not in the best condition but pretty much as expected 20 minutes after packing up. The batter and fry on the fish were pretty good, still crispy enough, and nice flavor. The halibut inside though was the most impossibly thin piece of fish i have ever laid eyes on. I would not order halibut again. There was twice as much batter as fish! Is the cod or haddock any better? Sad....

The Haddok jumbo was a very nice meal, I got a free pop and coleslaw with it but that's only during lunchtime.

Years ago this place was great... now it's gotten awful! Maybe new management? supplier? This was one of the worst fish and chips experiences I have ever had. The fish was 80% batter! It was chewy and just tasted cheap.

Was so impressed by the quality of halibut!!! One of the best I have tried out of 30 especially when you consider the value, batter was amazing and chips were delicious. They also accomadated another order past closing with no issues! So nice to see places like this still open!! Support restaurants like this when u can!!! Highly recommend!!!!

Better than any fish I've ever tasted. Very flavorful, and a generous amount of batter. Food came quickly, and with a large amount of choice. By the end, it was getting to be a bit too much grease, but it was well worth it

Best battered fish that we've had, I really recommend this place. My SO and I go in now when we can (I'm pregnant and can't have fish too much), and love it. The place is small but the girl who serves us is always nice, the food is a great price for how much fish you get and how great it tastes. Fast service. This is a hidden, quaint gem. It's not a Yorkville restaurant by any means but then it's not priced as such either. A family run business with family values. Excellent quality for the price Service is excellent. Quick, polite, pleasant. You're missing out if you don't give this place a try.

A pretty good fish and chips restaurant. But I think people are rating this place low because they don't know that this place seems to be trying to replicate home made food that you would find in the UK, cooked by a British matriarch. I had no complaints. The food tasted familiar. I liked it. Would go back again.

WARNING !!! MUST READ Two issues, First, I ordered the Halibut fish combo & Haddock fish combo, the lady gave me the bill and charged my credit card $42.xx I felt something is wrong because each is about $12 or $13, I told her that I think she over-charged me and she said "ohh yes I don't know what happened sorry", she refunded me that in full and charged me again on my credit card the right amount which is about $30. My concern is that this business might be doing this on purpose to try and fraud the customer and some people might not catch on to this, so I suggest you double check everything and make sure they charge you the correct amount!!! ---------- Second, the oil they use is shortening oil !!! If you don't know what's shortening oil then just simply go to Google and search shortening oil health I'm surprised there are a lot of old people that eat in this restaurant, old or young this is NOT healthy for you at ALL, this raises your risk of heart disease, death from heart disease, heart attack and stroke. They also raise your "bad" cholesterol levels, lower your "good" cholesterol and cause inflammation and the hardening of your arteries. So if you care about yourself and your loved ones, you shouldn't send them there. You don't believe that they use shortening oil in this restaurant? Just simple call and ask if they use shortening oil and they will tell you, I knew it from the moment I tasted their fries and fish, I also called to verify after and was told yes they do. Please hit the Like button below my review if you agree, so that way it stays on top as a warning to everyone. Thank you, and you are welcome for the info I shared.

Very pricy for the miniscule portions and low quality food. The fish is soggy with a tempura style batter rather than beer batter. Fries tastes as old as the restaurant's decor has no seasoning, and very dry as if a large quantity has been made earlier to last the rest of the day. Very disappointing. Tartar sauce is disgusting, comes in a ketchup style packet that had no expiration date. Not that difficult to make tartar sauce.

What a disgusting piece of fish. Original owners were great. This is all batter ans a sliver of a fish inside. They think they can save money by cutting halibut in half. 6 people and everyone basically threw out their fish. We had to cut through all the flavorless thick dry batter to find fish. I have never wasted my time giving a review. I had to hoping that no one ever steps foot in here. Maybe we get a real F&C place to replace it. What garbage.

Absolutely disgusting! Flavourless, nasty soggy and OILY; their “fish and chips” tastes like tempura batter and not at all like Irish fish and chips that’s crispy and full of flavour. The amount of fish to batter is insane.. they’re ripping you off!!! The fries were disgraceful, stale and not even salted… so disappointed…. I’d never go back and suggest you don’t either.

First time in was okay and the owner served us. She was very pleasant! We felt welcome and comfortable. Second time in they had hired help for Friday evenings....she was/is not the person to give a person a welcome feeling when in that eatery. She spent more time feeding her own mouth than looking after the cleanliness of the restaurant IE: wiping down tables, filling the empty condiment containers...even the windows were is a desperate need of a good cleaning! Who wants to be waited on/served by a person whose mouth is partially full of food and she is all the while chewing while asking if your meal was okay? Having been raised in the food-service industry I have an expectation of customer service that is sorely evident as lacking in this day & age of business.(guess I should be grateful of other small mercies.)

Large fish fillets and thick-cut fries fried in fresh oil served with creamy coleslaw, the fish and chips were a delight. The light, fluffy breaded calamari is also worth trying. Though the interior decor is a bit dated, the food was excellent value for the price. Will definitely be going again in the future.

Not good to be honest, it was greasy, fish was a thin layer inside a thick layer of greasy batter, fries portion was small. Comparing it with other fish and chips I had. I am never going back.

I had the two piece halibut and half chips...for a grand total of almost $19.00 I had a BAD meal! The fish was EXTREMELY small...covered with an ENORMOUS amount of OILY batter! The fries were OILY and almost at the point of being burnt. I had a belly ache about an hour later. DO NOT eat at this place. BTW, I am not exaggerating or have any issues with the staff, etc. This was a TERRIBLE dining experience. The only reason I'm giving this one star is because the counter lady was nice.
