We have been here a few times on our stay and have enjoyed every visit. The food is good pub food (note that there is a limited menu for Sat brunch and veggie choices are not great), the service is fast and cheerful and they have good music. Both the Thu jam session upstairs and Saturday nights Celtic music were great fun.

This is my favorite bar in Yellowknife! I can't believe there's a full on Scottish/Irish bar in a city this far north in Canada, but I was so happy to find it. The food is pretty standard pub fare with things you'd expect like burgers and wings, but they do curry night on Thursdays, and a surprisingly good Sunday brunch as well. The Black Knight is a great place to sit down for food and drinks with friends!

I'm giving them 5 stars and here's why. 1. Yellowknife isn't a huge city and there is nothing remotely close to it, so even though in reality I'd rate the place more between a 4 and 4.5, for this city compared to the rest of the places in town I give it 5 stars. 2. The food is quality. I don't eat here that often but when I do decide to come to the Black Knight it's because I'm in the mood for something above average. In reality 5 stars should only be given to amazing chefs like Anthony Bourdain or Gordon Ramsey, Emeril and those types. Compared to chef's like that, I still give the food a 4. I haven't had any food there that I felt they cheaped out on for pub food. And that's just it too, for pub food, they have more things than just burgers and steaks. Today I had the months special Seafood Pot Pie which came with a nice fluffy pastry baked on the top of it that you mash down into the pie filling. Didn't feel like they cheaped out on the amount of seafood in there either. Loved it. 3. The atmosphere is some of my favorite in Yellowknife. Fridays will be packed and busy, I personally like things in the middle to lighter side for being busy so I go in the middle of the week, because usually eat alone. There is a quiet little table for 2 half tucked away where I always sit because I feel like I got my own personal space there where I'm not being watched from all angles. The building itself is nice too. Lots of wood and brown to make it feel like an authentic pub from Great Britain, or at least that's how I feel when I'm there. Certainly has character on the inside. 4. Because I go when it's not as busy as possible, I've never once had a bad experience with the staff. When their workload isn't maxed out, I've never felt uncomfortable around them or unpleased with anything. So if you're in Yellowknife either for a short stay or a long visit, I highly recommend going to the Black Knight.

Solid food and good portions, but the drinks were pricey, with a less than great selection. I had the bison burger, which was tasty, with fresh veggie toppings and a nice amount of fries. I was disappointed that there were only two local beers available, and all of the drinks were relatively expensive. The service was slow, but attentive. Will return.

Came here twice during my stay in YK. Wait staff was friendly and food was good. Apparently the pies are amazing although the sandwich and soup I had was equally delicious. Draft beer selection is good and live music on Saturday was a pleasant surprise. Interesting to just sit and observe the locals in their watering hole or join in the fun!

I visited the pub on a Saturday night. The steak was great with five extra prawns and a FREE glass of wine (red or white) or a bottle of domestic beer. The desert was nice too. Compared to the other steak houses in town, you definitely get more for less, so I will keep visiting the place.

Amazing atmosphere. The wings on Wings Night (Wednesdays) are tasty. At $4 for 6 wings, they are good value for money also. The servers are very nice and efficient. Orders are prepared quickly even during peak hours. The calamari rings and fries pickles were disappointing. Hopefully they'll be better next time.

Way overpriced, food is hit and miss. Mostly miss. Service both upstairs and downstairs varies greatly, depending on which staff are present that day. Very loud. Owner is very difficult/impossible to get ahold of, even with very pressing matters. Really takes the cake for me... If you have other options, take them.

The Black Knight is a Yellowknife staple. It's a cozy, old place with a lot of character. There's the occasional live music performance, and it's also home to a lot of events upstairs. They have a weekly rotation of themed food nights and great daily specials. My only suggestion would be a revamp of their menu to freshen things up.

I went there on a Wing Wednesday, waited 10+ minutes, received no service, and then left along with another group who had gotten no service. The Black Knight needs to get a grip on servers, and definitely schedule more staff for busy times. It is inexcusable that anyone should need to wait over 10 minutes without being noticed. Very disappointed.

The beer was cold and the waitress was excellent plus very informative. As it turned out the Black Knight seemed to be a very popular spot with the locals as the crowd increased in time. Compared with some other places in Old Town the prices were more reasonable for beer and food. As a bonus, we happened to be there at the same time that the band The Sheepdogs were practicing upstairs. They were in Yellowknife for a show later that evening upstairs and the sound was great downstairs in the bar. As for food the onion rings were good, unfortunately the chicken wings tasted like they had freezer burn. All in all a very pleasant experience.

This is a great option for dinner in Yellowknife. The fish dishes are excellent (Cajun blackened trout / classic fish and chips). The menu has a lot of other options and at different price points which is nice. Service is adequate. We weren't greeted or seated when we first walked in, even though some staff were standing around and saw us come in. So we seated ourselves, but it took them a while to find us and bring a menu. That was confusing. Otherwise everything here is great. It's busy and loud, but it's a pub so it's to be expected!

One of the better dining options you’ll find in Yellowknife. Lots of good food choices, reasonably priced food, and a nice ambiance to spend time with friends. They typically have a food special every night, and their service is usually friendly and fast. Only reason it doesn’t quite get 5 stars from me is their menu is missing some of my favourite and simple pub appetizers, and their hours fluctuate weirdly throughout the week so if you’re out late it’s sometimes annoying to know whether they’re open for not. If those things don’t bother you this is probably between a 4 and 5. Check it out at least once during your stay. You won’t be disappointed.

I used to be a server for BK; they are currently refusing to pay the tips from 2 of my shifts in my last pay period, amounting to a few hundred dollars in missing pay. It's a shame because I used to really like this place, but not getting paid money you earned leaves a bit of a sour taste in your mouth.

Phase II of COVID-19 rules for reopening effectively implemented. Selection of draft beers is currently limited, but draft beer along with bottled beer is available. Same cheery hospitality and excellent management makes dining enjoyable. Lots of takeout orders noticeably being picked up and heading out the door. Patio sidewalk area seeing a lot of traffic too.

Good food for the most part. I am being generous with my star score because I was very hungry, tired, and with a large group and I understand that it effected my perception of the place. I got the beyond meat burger and added cheddar and "guacamole." Be aware their guac is not in fact guac, but rather a mostly flavorless avocado paste. A bit brown too, clearly not mashed (blended seems more likely) very recently. If they had advertised avocado paste as the topping I would have not ordered it and the review would be 5 stars, but as it is, my one complaint I can definitely say is not colored by my state of mind is this mislabelling. Also they had a few beers unavailable but I don't really care about that as the beers unavailable were not ones I would have ordered anyway. I suppose as a pub they ought to always have a good selection, but I wasn't really bothered by that as much as the so-called guacamole. Long story short: avocado does not equal guacamole .

Their mints are stellar and the only beef I've got is that they got rid of their mac and cheese which was godly. Maybe one day it'll return revised but the place is still top notch. Has a lotta wing flavours and their specials are always pretty neato. I'd white knight for the black knight
