Next level stuff. The higher price points are DEFS worth it. Ambiance on point too. Fancy but funky. Interesting juxtaposition. The Pesto Chicken Linguine was amazing. My partner had the Lobster Stuffed Ravioli and it was just as delicious. As far as dessert goes, WOWZAS! The Chocolate Ganache Torte with raspberry coulis was the PERFECT serving size for how rich it was! If you live in White Rock/South Surrey and have yet to sample these guys GET ON IT!
My absolute favourite for a quiet delicious Monday afternoon lunch. The menu is amazing. Drink selection fantastic. And the staff really makes you feel welcome.
Great food excellent service we had a great time
5 parking spots for the whole restaurant all get taken up by the dispensary next door. So the customers paying $80+ on a good night out have to pay $10 for parking just to get to the door? Without reimbursement like most restaurants downtown. Clearly they make enough money to not worry about repeat customers because i ain't coming here again.
Fantastic meal!! Service was great and portions were perfect. The stuffed chicken and the lobster ravioli were to die for. Would definitely go again.
Nice ambiance, good quality food.
It's a little pricey but the food is spectacular !! ???????? Recommend a reservation to get a good seat.
Food was great. Our server....not so much as she rarely checked in on us. You could tell she did not want to be there and this did not represent the restaurant well. However, I did see other tables get amazing service especially from this tall male waiter. So I’m glad not everyone got the same service we did.
Amazing food at surprisingly normal pricing. Cool decor with a rustic feel and several fireplaces to add warmth to the dining in cool fall weather. My steak was notably undercooked but the flavours were there, I didn't complain to the staff to see how they would handle it
We got an excellent window seat upstairs on the patio. Always great food and service. Portions could be a bit larger.
Excellent. We had great food, great service and a beautiful view. Happy to be out!
Always fantastic food and excellent service! We often bring our own bottle of wine to pair with our favourites, the lamb and steak & prawns. If you're lucky enough to go on a night when there's live music, the WAG is definitely a must experience!
Delicious food! This place was packed so I'm glad we made a reservation on a Friday night. The food was so good! Friendly and helpful waitress. The calamari dish and halibut/shrimp dish is amazing. Very tender, not overcooked and the sauces that came with each dish were great. Definitely will be coming back when we are in the White Rock area!
Good food, great company super friendly service. The band last night left something to be desired. And it was unusually loud, big party made it hard to hear each other @ our own table. But the view is second to none. And since the two things I didn't like aren't always happening there, I would highly recommend to anyone!
Excellent, food ,service and ambiance! Solid gold!
The food is excellent, however the restaurant is so loud and busy it did not make for the nice relaxing catch up with friends I was hoping for. We all had to yell at each other across the table. As a restaurant experience I would not return, but the food was delicious so I may try again.
Service
We always have amazing meals at the WAG. Their seafood is wonderful especially in the summer and we love their pasta in winter. A bottle of wine is reasonable and it’s tasty. They have a kids menu and our kids love the penne Alfredo. Usually all we can get them to eat is chicken fingers so we like that they order pasta here!
Jeremy/Brent Once again, another terrific meal and great service. . The seafood hotpot never disappoints, and the ahi tuna last night was a real treat. We have been dining on special occasions at the WAG for over 20 tears, and hope to continue for another 20 Marilyn and Glen Middleton
Amazing menu with many Gluten Free options. Great staff and a beautiful view
Fabulous! Delicious food served by an outstanding man, Keith. Highly recommend.
Lovely ambiance here! I enjoyed watching the ocean and birds. There's lots if free parking- the restaurant is upstairs! The staff are very friendly and the food is so good. First class!
Food is absolutely delicious and customer service is on point. The steelhead salmon is a must try. The glazed ribs appy is also amazing.
We had a previous not so good experience. We came back in for our last dinner out before my wife gave birth. The meal started out great. Our entrees came and my half lamb rack came out blue rare and my wife's pork was raw pink in the middle. Not just a little pink but completely raw. It was taken care of by the staff on hand but when I contacted the manager after the visit his response left a lot to be desired. He basically threw hands up and threw the staff under the bus. Doing the best we can with the best staff we can find. That's a lame cop out. Your training has missed the mark and maybe it is time to retrain.
Day 1 was excellent, so we also ate there Day 2 and Day 3. Excellent food, friendly staff. It's my new 'go to' when visiting White Rock.
Food and service was very good. We enjoyed a pre-Christmas dinner with my parents, and had a very nice time. My only complaint is that it’s very loud in the restaurant, at least it was in our location (right in the middle). The restaurant wasn’t overly crowded (75% for Covid I believe), but voices reverberated so much that it was hard to hear each other. Some noise dampening could help this I’m sure.
The main reason that we go to a restaurant is to have a memorable experience, its not always food. One such experience we got at "Washington Avenue Grill". Washington Avenue Grill is just another restaurant without Ms. Casey. She works like she cares for the restaurant and not like just another employee, taking pride in her work, interacting with the customers and giving her honest view on the food depending upon the need of the customer. The way she interact with customers like she know them for years and the bonding she creates in few moments is amazing. we were in love with her. and our next visit will be with all the friends and again its not for the food it will be for Ms. Casey. P.S. Food was good too :-) We ordered Wag Ceasar, pecan crusted steelhead and stuffed Gnochhi(veg). we loved our food. Ceasar was bit off and bitter and again Ms. Casey came to our rescue and got that fixed. and and and we got the corner seat with amazing view of the sea(*best in the restaurant)
Our server was great, food was great as usual. The young host weirdly came by too often, interrupting and wanting to clear plates that were still full of food. He’s young though, he’ll learn.
Don’t let the rustic building discourage you, the food and service is excellent.
We love the WAG so much! The food is great, the concept is unique, and they have live music. My husband and i got engaged there so definitely one of our favourite restaurants.
Good place to go for dinner in the White Rock area. The Washington Avenue Grill (WAG) boasts of nice scenery and delicious food. Situated close to the waters you do get good views if you sit by the window tables. Food here was good for me, not excellent but good. Was kind of disappointed that they didn't have lobster tail but overall a great experience nonetheless.
A friend & I decided to spontaneously drop in here for an early dinner and boy am I glad we did! The setup is so beautiful (sit on the deck to enjoy views of the water) and the service + food were both amazing. Our server was soooo attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire visit. We luckily got a seat right by the windows on the patio and got to see an incredible sunset. So happy that they also have a lot of vegetarian options!
As always being a favourite. The food is consistently good and was this visit as well. Location is good and the staff are friendly and helpful.
WAG is always a favourite. Consistently great food. Servers here are lovely. As with most places right now, service is slow, but not because they aren't hustling. Bring patience and note that your servers are working very hard in tough circumstances. So sit back and enjoy amazing food.
Food, service and view were all amazing!! It looks pretty simple on the outside, but it's soo beautiful on the inside. We're in New West and I can't wait to make the drive back.
Food is 4 star, the furnishings is 3 star, some of the booths require upgrading.
Had the steak and potatoes, absolutely fire. Defs coming back for more. Those garlic mashed potatoes would wake a 90-year-old diabetic in a COVID icu from the grave.
We had a great evening tonight, i had the stuffed chicken and poutine but the menu needs be changed as it says it comes with "gravy" on the menu but it is NOT gravy or what you would expect its actually apparently a demi glaze and is extremely sweet kind of tastes like a indian chutney was not good at all you are also charged the same amount for the poutine with our without the braised shortrib which was a rip off. The stuffed chicken and mash potato on the other hand was delicious and our experience was awesome as was our waitress!
I love the food here but so much more aswell. First off there is a ton of all day parking and it is reasonably priced. It's also close to the section of White Rock which allows dogs on the beach! But the seafood here is amazing and the star of the show. Big pieces when it comes to prawns and scallops so you don't feel ripped off. Great atmosphere and beautifully decorated. Plus a good view of the ocean.
Used to be our go to place-my husband for the fish and chips,me for the fish tacos.Though the window sills /trim were dirty-the food was good, until the last time we were there. The tartar sauce recipe was changed-husband hated it.The fish tacos(entre, not appetizer)where miniature and the salsa(?) was cut too large and tasteless. Just went to Brown's-regular tacos and proper filling, about the same price.Sorry, loved you but won't be back
First time we dined there last night. Made online reservation and requested a patio table. Everything was excellent! Great table, great service, excellent food. Definitely recommend dining here:)
Good place. Got the pork tenderloin was pretty bland and disappointing. My wife's food was pretty good.
Had an amazing Valentine's Dinner at the WAG last night. Drove up from Seattle for my date. Amazing service. I had ordered flowers to be delivered, they had them in their walk-in waiting. Seated me before my guest arrived so we could set the table up perfectly. Thank you WAG for making me look good. The food and service were phenomenal.
The food was great and the views are incredible. We loved the live band too. Very nice ambience and artwork.
I booked this restaurant for a family members birthday. I did put special notes in my reservation to hopefully sit at a good table (maybe with a view) and also to bring out a creme brulee surprise after dinner (one that I had no issue paying for). It was clear that no one at the restaurant read the reservation notes as we didn't get a good table and they had no idea that there was a birthday and to being out the creme brulee after dinner. I had to alert the server of this and then they brought it - so much for the surprise! Regarding the food, I have to say that it was just okay. I feel they put too much thyme in the bread they serve at the beginning and this makes the bread taste bitter. I ordered the flank steak and it was served with cauliflower and peas (never had that combination with steak before) and I did not enjoy that. I was expecting a bit higher end sides like maybe asparagus and mushrooms, especially for the prices they charge. We also ordered some martinis and they weren't as good as I thought they would for a restaurant that touts itself as higher end. If I have to compare this restaurant to a Cactus, Earls or Keg, I have to say the latter are better in all respects. The WAG might be good if one is going for some beer or some appies as they do have the view. Otherwise, they charge too much for the quality one gets.
Excellent wait staff and tasty food… was rather noisy but that was mostly the other patrons
Great seafood! The waitstaff is top notch and the Wednesday music was fantastic. (Not to mention Wednesday is 1/3 off the price of wine!) The Lobster Ravioli was dynamite, the Seafood Hot Pot was outstanding. The Chicken Pesto Linguine was terrific as well. Overall a fabulous place for seafood in White Rock, BC.
Delightful dinner...nice environment. Service was terrific.
What an experience. Great location great view great staff and MOST IMPORTANTLY GREAT FOOD. Definitely a spot for any occasion. The staff provide amazing customer service. Tended to everything in a timely manner.
Great food and service. Even surprised them with a Christmas Hair party and they accommodated 100%. We have our family Christmas dinner here every year to the satisfaction of everyone. Excellent spot.
Always very good food, might want to try a few new menu items now and then.
Can't say enough about the great service provided by our waiter Michael, he went above and amount and the service was amazing.
Amazing food, amazing service. We shared our anniversary night here and it was our first time, will definitely be coming back!
In a group of six, everyone was extremely pleased with our dinners. Service was fantastic, I use a wheelchair and since there is no elevator four of the young men working came outside and carried me up the front entrance stair and up the stairs to the restaurant. Here's a huge THANK YOU guys!!!
We have going to The WAG for years now but we are less than impressed with their management of service post Covid. We found the tables a little too closely placed. We sat next to a able of young women who were getting drunk and. Standing up at the end of their table and stumbling. We believe it’s the responsibility of the staff to manage that their patrons adhere to spacing expectations and respect other patrons. However after 2 hours of this going on and us finally dating something was the situation handled. The server got our bills wrong and was less than discreet or respectful in handling them professionally and overall I don’t plan to go back as it’s not an environment that we felt held service to any great standard. The environment and poor management of service interferes with our attempts to peacefully enjoy a good meal.
We were there on june 23 and had the best service from multiple staff. Fantastic experience! And delicious food too!
I went to this restaurant this week. The interior was good, the food was good, and our server was kind. I enjoyed the meal time, but the end was very unpleasant. Because when we were leaving there, one of staff there she treated us as invisible people. I have been visiting many restaurants. Generally, they greet and send customers off kindly when they leave. But that lady of the day she didn't look at us and say goodbye, even though we passed right in front of her. It was very unpleasant and felt unfriendly. It ruined my pleasant meal time. I don't recommend this restaurant for some people who are expecting for a good attitude from staff, and visiting this restaurant. Also, I hope her ignoring behavior is not the reason because I'm Asian!!!!
We love to go here for a Sunday lunch, it’s generally quiet and you can see the tidal flats, people, their dogs and kids enjoying the tidal pools and sand. The food is great and served up fairly quickly. I always enjoy the fish tacos, but there is a good variety to chose from. Lots of stairs for anyone older. Highly recommended
Food was good, they took my girlfriends allergy very seriously and cooked it custom which was very refreshing! Had a table near the windows, so had a good view. I would recommend this place for sure!
Service
Besides the beautiful ambiance, I did not have a good experience here as much as I wanted to. When we first entered, we noticed the server sitting at a table on her phone. She did not approach us right away. I absolutely did not like the service here. I have food allergies & lots of other restaurants have helped me choosing a dish by recommendations or making it custom by taking certain things out of the dish and replacing it with other items. She was not helpful at all. I ended up not enjoying my meal. I asked the server what was in the hoisin ginger sesame sauce and she said “hoisin, ginger & sesame..” it was rude and insulting. I had to look up the ingredients for hoisin on google. Also the portion for the “mixed seafood grill” was simply not enough! There was more rice than seafood. This dish is $26 and they only give you 3 pieces of shrimp!! Which is ridiculous. The shrimp was not even cleaned properly. This location needs to be managed properly and hire better staff. Won’t be returning back.
Great views from the patio, the food was pretty good and value for your money is also good. The exterior of the building looks a little grungy, I feel the exteriors looks might make people pass by without realizing how clean the inside is. The inside is furnished and decorated with a great summer beach feel. Parking can be a bit tricky as their parking lot fills up quick. Street parking will cost you and is not readily available. Overall I'm happy with my experience from WAG.
My girlfriend and I went there this afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The hostess was friendly and super helpful, the server was amazing and also recommended a bunch of food and it was all delicious, especially the calamari. It is now one of my favorite in White Rock to eat!
Yummy food! Great views, good parking.
The WAG was great! When going to restaurants it’s always a worry at the quantity of protein you will be served… at the WAG, this is not a concern! I was extremely happy with the amount of chicken on my Chicken Pesto Linguine. Pictured is the Chicken Pesto Linguine and the Butternut Squash Ravioli!
Beautiful setting & great service. We had the crab cakes & tomato and lobster bisque for starters. Husband had the Honey Soy Glazed Baby Back Ribs & I had the Cajun Snapper and Prawns. His ribs were fall off the bone tender & he said "we definitely have to come back here". My fish was the best fish I have had in a long time. The bread on the side is delicious & our waiter even packed our leftovers after we had ordered a second basket. Water view, live music, & out of this world food. Definitely go!
Fantastic food, beautiful view and the service was great. All while maintaining covid protocols. Plus it was 30% off wine that day ????
Food is always good. Amazing happy hour, with very reasonably priced food and drink specials. Pretty impressive cocktail list and great views of the ocean. Parking can be a challenge though
Food was really good. For what we had, very reasonably priced,. We shared appetizers then 1 main meal that they split for us (without us having to ask) and gave us the extra potatoes and fresh veggies to make two full plates. Even the deserts were made fresh not frozen. Staff went out of their way to help and we're awesome. View of sunset over water priceless.

Such a cool atmosphere with funky decor. Part of the restaurant has a open ceiling to allow lots of sun and wind in the summer. Boasts beautiful views of whiterock beach and the ocean. Food is always a treat. I usually order the cajun caesar salad with fried capers, so delicious. The servers are very friendly. Only downfall can be parking. It is very limited out front. Other then that, superb.
Calamari was delicious, view of the ocean and such frindly staff. Casey was fantastic, cheers guys
The views from the tables at the back of the restaurant are superb. I had the beet salad and stuffed chicken. The chicken came with a mountain of the most perfect green beans. I could those green beans all day long. The customer service was friendly but professional. My only complaint was this white dust falling from the roof all over the food and wine. Hope they fix that.
Great spot. Good weekday specials like happy hour Mondays and half off wine on Wednesdays. The food is really good. Thumbs up to the short rib and the lamb shank. Service was excellent.
Never disappointed with the WAG. Their vegetarian options are great and their ahi tuna is the best. The wasabi glaze dip that goes with the tuna is a perfect pair. The stuffed gnocchi had the right amount of pesto flavour, not overwhelming as can sometimes happen. I've always had great service as well. Only minor complaint is that the bathrooms are pretty cold in the winter, but the rest of the place is cozy with great atmosphere.
Great service and amazing food! Had the peppercorn tenderloin with the Whiskey cream sauce and it was to die for! Such unique and delicious flavor! Also the calamari was great, nicely balanced with thin onion and fine jalapeno so not spicy just delicious. Ribs were also great but once I had a taste of the tenderloin it was by far my favorite. Dessert was creme brulee and the sugar was a bit burnt but still tasty!
The WAG has always been my favourite restaurant, but they have really stepped up their game post-COVID. Obvious care in every dish and generous portions. 5 stars!
Met family members here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Think about making reservations if you like a view from the atrium? Staff were very good ensuring all went well during our dining experience. I love the tasty fish & chips with a cool beverage! I highly recommended this restaurant.
My friend and I ordered the Steamed Mussels: a huge hit! Bathed in light tomato basil, white wine broth and spices, we inhaled the appetizer, broth and all. Chosen entrees included the Grilled Steelhead Burger and WAG Burger. I thought my burger was delicious with real greens tucked in to the juicy fish. must try it
Loved the Happy Hour here. Had all our favourite appies to share like crispy Brussels sprouts (with tofu), crab cakes, smoked salon wonton crisps. Fabulous, as ever. With the window beside our table open, and a fresh breeze off the ocean, it was like being on a patio, without the sunburn. Fun to watch the kids and dogs playing at low tide.
The food was amazing - big portions, so better be hungry when you go there! :) There was live music, atmosphere was nice and relaxed, the level of noise was not that high as for a conversation not to be possible. Did I mention the live music? :) Excellent blues, the perfect addition to the evening. I also liked very much the look of the place and during the day the view would be nice too. Parking can be tricky, we had to park quite far on a lateral street. Will certainly go back there!
I had the lobster stuffed ravioli which really was truly stuffed- they did not skimp on the amount of lobster. Pasta was cooked to perfection, served with a few prawns and asparagus in a velvety creamy sauce. My friend ordered the chicken linguine which was also really creamy and full of flavour. must try it
My partner and I love the Washington Avenue grill. We will visit for every anniversary, or birthday! The food here is amazing! Drinks are original and tasty! The atmosphere is perfect!
So so so good! Incredible views all around, the experience can't be matched on a gorgeous sunny day! Only thing that brings it down to 4 stars is the vegan accessibility, the Chorizo Fettutini is absolutely fantastic, but it stressed out a family member who was in the middle of going vegan and everything they tried to order couldn't be modified to be vegan... so like maybe expand the options even if not actual food menu items! Otherwise absolutely fantastic and no complaints!
First one to arrive at 11.40 AM on Tuesday Sept 21 gentleman sitting at bottom of stairs in office says we not open yet looks at his watch again and says oh it is 11.40 we r open, we go up stairs young waitress welcomes us and offers us seating wherever we want, chose window overlooking beach ordered coffee plus Tomato Crab Bisque, it arrives right after coffee tasty, then we order cod & chips, lobster Ravioli for my wife, food comes no napkins I had to ask, then we looking for cutlery none on table we ask her for it, says she forgot, napkins she only gives 1 each, mean time food is getting cold 2 other customers arrive which she attends too then she brings the cutlery ,looks like she expected or management expected we r going to eat with our fingers and hands East Indian style, asked for bill came $64 gave her a $10 tip on credit card NEVER GOING BACK THER BEING A FOREIGNER of Indian descent, you be the judge
Great sunset and a great meal. Our server, Rebecca, was delightful and made the entire evening complete.
Very disappointment with my dinner today. I ordered steak medium rare, got a piece of raw steak. Then waited for another 10 minutes for medium rear steak and got instead baby back ribs. Explained to waitress that I didn’t order baby back ribs I ordered steak, and than I waited again. We came 6 girls, all of them finished their food when I got mine and than everybody waited for me to finish it????????♀️
Food was absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic as well. One of the wrong appetizers was brought out at first, but they gave it to us on the house and brought the one we had ordered within minutes. Highly recommend, especially if seafood is your thing. I'll be back!
Awesome food, better service all in all 4.5 out of 5 will be back soon
Absolutely decadent food, my wife and I went here for the first time last night, and we will definitely be going back. I ordered the seafood hotpot and my wife had the lobster stuffed ravioli, we started with the tomato basil crab bisque, and for dessert Finished with their chocolate peanut butter pie that was absolutely to die for. The atmosphere is high end yet relaxed, the service and staff are incredible, our server Nicole was super on top of everything from making sure our drinks were full to making sure we were satisfied with our meal, she also helped us pick out our dessert, and took a couple photos for us, the ambience for dinner is intimate and romantic with the low lighting, with incredible views and beautiful exposed interior very industrial chique. If you haven't tried this restaurant yet, as I myself hadn't, I highly recommend going here.
Dinner
Definitely won’t be back. Food was very subpar. Ordered the crab cakes and found what looked like green gel polish or a piece of plastic inside as well as they tasted extremely fishy. Ordered the Kahlua prawns which tasted pretty good but overpriced for what it is. Ordered the Tiramisu which tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge unwrapped for quite some time. The only reason I’m giving 1 star is because the server was very nice.
Great food! The pecan encrusted steelhead was very rich and prepared to perfection! Great ambiance and fantastic service. A new favorite!
This is one of the most underrated spots around for a nice (but still casual) dinner. It's not much to look at from the outside, but theres a view, very attentive staff and a menu which will surprise you with the complexity and quality. And to top it off there is a great atmosphere. You'll want to walk along the nearby beach after eating. This is a great experience all around.
Great dining experience. Had a lovely window seat to catch the end of the sunset. A little disappointed in the "surf" of the Monday night Surf and Turf special, being two shrimps. They need to reevaluate that portion size.

We had the best service ever! Our waitress was incredibly nice and helpful. I’m sad I didn’t catch her name, but she was the blonde who worked today - August 24th around 8pm! She made our experience amazing, along without the great food and views. Watching the sunset while eating was so relaxing and made the dinner a memorable one. The pasta was really good and there were plenty of vegetarian options. I will definitely be coming back!
Good food and good views, unfortunately we were seated on the patio corner and just bare GI sheets on 2 sides. Wasn't amazed. Party of 4adults and 3kids. If you plan on going, go early or make sure you ask for a good seat. Smaller party would have more options.
Lunch
Visited for dinner on a super busy night and still received solid service. Funky place with good ambiance. All the food our party had was great with lots of flavor and good portions. Menu had lots of seafood and grilled meats and some pasta so a little on the higher end of things; don’t go if you are looking for burgers and beer! Would return without hesitation.
The patio is really nice, with a great view of the beach. The service was fantastic, and so was the food. Will definitely return.
I was celebrating my birthday here over the weekend and overall I had a good experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, they let me bring in a birthday cake and even brought out a sparkler! I personally enjoyed everything. I got the ahi tuna and I would highly recommend this dish to any sushi lovers. My husband got the lobster ravioli and he wasn't impressed by the size of the dish - only 5 ravioli for $25. Another member of my party ordered the poutine and he said that it was the worst poutine he'd ever had. He even found a piece of fish in it. All the other dishes, every one else liked. My favorite was the smoked fish chips! It's quite expensive - 5 chips for $15 but I think it's a nice treat!
A few years I went to WAG and recall the experience was a little flat. I've had the fortune of going there multiple times over the last month due to geography mostly and am very pleased to report that the food, service at atmosphere have all improved. Every meal has been tasty, timely and served with a smile an personality. It should be said that the plating and sauces will not wow mom eaters with their ingenuity, but the delicious dependable and well paired flavors are something I really appreciate.
Not sure what was wrong, but from the moment we got seated, we felt very unwelcome at the restaurant. In addition, I mentioned to the waitress that it was my wife's birthday, and no reaction or response as if she didn't care. Next, the food was bland, and the beans tasted a bit raw. Every time I signaled to the waitress, she'd go over to another table. And, also when I asked for anything like clearing our table for dessert she had this expression of discomfort or disgust. Lastly, the dessert when it came was cut in a way that it was falling over - it looked and tasted terrible. When we left, not even a single staff member wished us goodbye. Wow, we couldn't have chosen a worse place for dinner. I'm definitely not coming here again. I definitely do not recommend this place at all. 'Hope other folks have a better experience.
Food was decent, slightly over priced. I assume most of the value was in the location. The part of the restaurant I wanted to sit in was the bright half facing the water. Instead we got sat at the back in the dark dingy side. However the person play guitar played all the favourites of my buddy and was very talented. My son liked to watch him. Overall I enjoyed the music, food and company.
Great spot with water views. The food was very good we’ll be back. The server Margaret was fantastic and was very helpful with the menu.
This place is great for a date night or night out with friends! The food is delicious, location is beautiful, and the atmosphere is fun! There has always been lovely live music every time I have gone! Definitely a repeat customer :)
Good food except under cooked carrots with every meal year in year out. Cheapest vegetable on the market My gripe is the staff asking for tips when I order for pick up. This site Cuts me off after so many words so, screw the staff for grinding for tips
Whenever I have guests coming to White Rock I book a dinner at the WAG. Never disappointed with the quality of food, always have a great view of the bay, and on Saturday nights the live music is awesome. The service can be a bit “hands off” but that’s to many people’s taste. Don’t skip dessert.
One of my families favorite restaurants to go too! Staff are nice and friendly and always check in with you often to make sure everything is good. Food is great, my favorite is the stuffed chicken. Highly recommend!
1 of my favourite spots in White Rock by far. Amazing staff, food, location and atmosphere. I think I have had almost everything on the menu over many years and have never been disappointed. Great place for any size group. Live music certain nights and the view...it's worth it just for the view!
We were warmly welcomed, the service and food was so good as always. We love to come here several times a year. Tonight we enjoyed a couple who thoroughly enjoyed dancing to the live music. Keep the good food and wonderful atmosphere. A local gem.
First time here and I plan to come back! The Tomato Basil White Wine Mussels is delicious!!
The service was exceptional! Views from almost any table are fantastic. Impressive! Highly recommend and will definitely be going back!
BEST PLACE EVER!! Holy the experience I had here was one of the best of my life.. the customer service is above and beyond. Our waitress was the kindest most attentive person ever, she made sure we had everything with minimal wait time, it was an art to watch her work. The restaurant was really busy too. But SO happy we decided to check this place out, our food dishes were demolished in minutes, no room for conversation we were just digging in the food. Also the drinks were DELICIOUS, so much flavor, I had 3 and each one of was amazing. Overall I don't think the experience could have been any better, absolutely amazing! Thanks again:)
Good food in a nice location Beware, there is a 3 dollar charge if you decide to share a plate. Understandable, but would be nice to be told up front.
Good food and service with lovely views of the beach.
Overall, good place to go. View from our table was amazing! Good service and good food. Was a little unsure of the place when we walked in the front door, but walk up stairs and be pleasantly surprised by the room and the views.
Fantastic, quirky bar and grill with fantastic food, pleasant atmosphere, fair prices and exceptional wait staff. Our server, Kari, couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. She managed to take care of a large birthday group with ease and graciousness and even had the thoughtfulness to offer to take a picture of our group. Could not have had a better experience. I also must mention the quality of the bartender there. He makes some terrific cocktails. I had the best Whisky Sour I ever had. Highly recommend.

What a great place to eat and enjoy the view. Food was number 1…. Service was superb and super friendly. Highly recommended!!!!
The WAG as they call it, has been around for close to 100 years apparently and has alot of history! First time for us was 20 years ago. Great Menu, happy hour specials and the views of the Ocean are fabulous. Prices for Lunch are very affordable !!!
We called to ask if they could make a special order of a veggie/vegan pasta dish. The staff were attentive to my order, writing it down, reading it back, confirming special request when we arrived. The dish was delicious and all that I had hoped. Great service, lovely atmosphere, delightful night out for dinner.
Very great interior with a beautiful view of the ocean. This restaurant goes above and beyond with the service. The food was great and isn’t over priced.
Went here for my birthday dinner and we were lucky enough to have Eric as our server. The food was absolutely incredible. Big delicious portions that made it worth every cent. Eric was fantastic he was the best server! so happy, helpful, funny and constantly making sure we had everything we need, even when the place was packed. Eric’s service really topped it off. Have been back again due to how great the first time was and the food once again was absolutely delicious in generous portions. Love it and will be back hopefully to be served by Eric again!
This was our first visit and we are impressed. Staff were extremely attentive, food was absolutely delightful. The only (very small) thing that for me could use improving would be that the caesar salad could have used a bit more dressing, but it was still incredible. We both had the flat iron steaks, rare and they were perfect. Mooing just the right amount inside, and oh man the sauce on them was so so so good. Loved the atmosphere. The back 2 patios were gorgeous, fabric and lights looked beautiful. Will be back!
Horrible! Where do I even start. The food was cold and not what we expected. Three people in our party ordered the same meal and the plates were all different. One plate had no sauce, one had no onions. The drinks were very well done until we ordered a drink and they clearly forgot the alcohol. Also the corona was stale dated, over a year old. The dishes were VERY dirty. The plates had a oily residue the utensils had caked on food. The manager came over to apologize but we feel nothing was resolved. For the amount of money we are paying one would expect a better experience.
Great location and easy access. Food is excellent as is the service. Views of the waterfront and the adjacent bay. Wide variety of menu ideas helped by the knowledgeable staff. Bar is well stocked with a very creative bar staff.
Fun atmosphere, great food, great service, good music. We were a party of six, which sometimes is detrimental as far as service goes. Not this time. Our appies arrived together as did our mains. Only complaint would be that I found the food a little salty. It was a fun nite. We will be back.
We went here for a birthday dinner. They had our friends a table of four and a table of two sitting three feet apart. We begged if they can make that a table of six so that two friends are not sitting alone. They said it’s BC Covid law compliance requirements. It’s clearly a low intelligence and robotic-brain door staff. However, our waitress was very highly intelligent. She can take orders without notes and was very friendly. She did see how why that could not be arrange. Therefore none of us will return because they began our celebration with a really negative experience. Everyone of us were not impressed at all. We quietly laughed at their low IQ conflict resolution technique.
Really nice place for some delicious seafood dishes. The decor is amazing and the view of the ocean is spectacular. Would definitely recommend the hot pot ????
Washington Avenue Grill or the WAG is a White Rock must. It’s located on west beach with a view of the bay. It has been a regular stop for family celebrations for years. The food and service are consistently great. The menu offers good variety and the views beautiful. I would strongly recommend a visit to the WAG to everyone / anyone who is visiting our beautiful sea shore city. Great food, great friendly service, reasonably prices and if you get a table by the windows, exceptional ocean views.
We picked up the turk n'bake generous amount of food and delicious ???? last night food was delicious. We love this place, great for special occasions ????
Our server was lovely and attentive. The place was very quaint and felt like a modern ma and pa shop. My lobster ravioli was absolutely delicious. The pesto was a wonderful addition.. My friend said I should have ordered the peanut butter dessert so will have to be back for that. My brother ordered the same thing, and felt the portion was to small for him. My dad had the seafood hotpot it looked and smelled so tasty, so fresh. My fiancé the fish and chips, the steelhead and batter just melted in your mouth. Definitely recommend coming for the food. The drink menu was small and the cocktails a bit of a disappointment but a full bar so you can probably order whatever you want. The bathrooms were clean, but could be updated. Too bad the entrance is a full flight of stairs leading into the restaurant. Free parking (rare for white rock) but limited. Sorry for the terrible picture, but there isn’t much lighting where we sat.
Good restaurant overlooking the ocean. Heads up there is no elevator to get to the second floor, so if you can't take the stairs this may not be the place for you.
Carpaccio and pork loin very tender, yet quite salty. Service: don't serve entrees when we're still eating appies! Made me feel rushed, even though the place was half empty. Nice atmosphere though.
A friend and I went to WAG for lunch last week. The steelhead burger I had was absolutely delicious! The fish was cooked to perfection and the bun was really fresh. The ceasar salad I had with my burger was exceptional (and I eat alot of ceasar salads). The view of the ocean, out the window was beautiful! Our server was great! I'll definitely go back, many times!
Funky and fun with a great view. Food is good and service is excellent. I was going to say it's pricey but it really isn't. It's a little more expensive than your local pub but quite affordable for fine dining and they usually have coupons you can sign up for. Great place for a date night. We would also take out if town clients there for the view and the seafood
My galfriend had signed up for her birthday lunch worth 24 dollars, I joined her. We both were very pleased with our menu choice, food most delicious. I'll sign up for my birthday lunch. I loved the atmosphere, being able to look out onto the ocean. It's s busy place. I'd return for any occasion. Service is great, wonderful restaurant to enjoy a meal at anytime. Thanks , see you again.
The food was so good and fresh. Our server Michael was really attentive and nice, and made our visit very enjoyable and fun. We’ll be visiting again. Nice views, and great ambience.
Had the shrimp curry which was really good. There were 3 of us and no complaints about any meals. Service was also good. There’s free parking if you can get it. We had a window seat which was really nice as we overlooked the Bay. They have a Happy Hour (or two) which we missed, and on Wednesdays it’s 30% off wine. All in all a nice experience.
It was my first time there and I had a really great time there! Our server was Taeo and he was great! My nursing friends and I had a really fun time! The food was spectacular and the atmosphere was so lovely! Can’t wait to visit again!
Delicious food. Good variety. A little pricey. Ambience is lovely and the views are fantastic. Service was great as well
We went for our Anniversary dinner and the View did not disappoint. However The Service was on and off! We advanced an allergy concern yet this was not confirmed or asked about by any staff at arrival or at the table. Our Entrees were brought out in the middle of our Appetisers and thrust in front of us yet we were barely 1/2 way through. We had to ask for cutlery twice during Appetisers and Entrees. The food was good but the sides were a mismash of under cooked veg and way overdone veg such as microwaved frozen peas then pan fried or some such removing any semblance of their former self. I like aldente but slightly blanched carrots is pushing it and verging on Crudités. Overall nice but sadly by no means great.
Sub par food. Friendly enough staff, and the view was nice, but the food just wasn’t very good. Even the water tasted bad.
Pleasantly surprised with the food and service at the New Year's Eve Party, because on many previous occasions, the regular atmosphere, meals and service were very disappointed. Thanks for trying harder and wishing you every success for 2019 ..... this restaurant is not romantic or upscale based on a number of reasons.
Upon arrival the staff were very welcoming, we got seated fast and brought water at the same time. The food was very good, I had the butternut squash ravioli and my girlfriend had the pesto chicken linguine. Definitely a place I’ll come back again.
The food and atmosphere were great. I would definitely visit here again .
Staff is very friendly, the ambiance is really good and the food AMAZING. We ordered the crab cakes, very light and tasty, hoisin beef lettuce wrap (vegan option) also really good. But the pecan crusted steelhead is a MUST! The dish comes amazingly together with the pesto bearnaise sauce soo yummy!!
Amazing food and views. The prices are unreasonable for some items on the menu and reasonable for other items. So don't be shocked if you go with a group of people and one person gets a dish that looks awesome at a lower price versus a more expensive one which may be disappointing, size wise. The taste is on point with all their dishes regardless.
I have been here several times. Yesterday we visited around noon. We were greeted immediately and asked to take any available table. The waitress came in a few minutes and took our drink order. They had a nice selection of micro brews on tap. I ordered the fish and chips and my friend ordered a pasta with chicken and pesto. The fish and chips were very good. My friend said the pasta was good but very rich. Overall it was a very pleasant visit.
Well, WAG, I don’t know what happened to you but you failed in my books. My husband and I use to live in White Rock and enjoyed coming to the WAG frequently about 10 years ago. Recently we came to White Rock for a date and chose to eat at WAG. The stairs leading up to the restaurant was very dirty. The banister was sticky (eweee). We were sat by the window looking at the beautiful view. We were brought water right away and didn’t see a server for 25 minutes. We were about to leave when a server came and got our drink order, took a while to get our wine and pop. There were dead bugs on the window sill. The place was dirty. Cobwebs/Dust webs in the bathroom… I had an extremely hard time ordering, I cannot have dairy and almost everything on their menu had dairy. We ordered, a server came by and dropped our food off at the table and took off, no offer of fresh cracked pepper… no “Enjoy” just dumped the plates and left. We didn’t stay for dessert we both wanted to get out of there and go somewhere else for dessert. As we were exiting the door downstairs doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned in years. Made me gag. Note to the manager: Hire a cleaner to come in and give that place a good clean, the dirty stairs and banister is what set the tone for the rest of our visit….
Outstanding! The pesto chicken linguine is to die for, but come hungry - it's MASSIVE. Great martinis, and they're $3 off on Thursdays! And the desserts are equally good - our table had the tiramisu and the peanut butter pie, both of which were excellent. There's usually a wait, so reservations are a good idea - but definitely worth the wait!
We went early before the dinner rush. We got window seat with a great view of the bay. The service is excellent and the food was even better. I would recommend this place But if you go after 5pm it would be a good idea to make reservations.
Had dinner here Sunday evening here and was treated to a wonderful experience of great food, seaside vistas and an awesome staff- Danny looked after us all through the meal with the right balance of when to show up for orders, topping off our wine and good humour. Definitely come back to sample more west coast fare!!
This is one of my favorite BC restaurants but I was highly disappointed when I went for my BDay last week. I feel like their regular staff must not have been in the kitchen because I have never had a bad meal there and we used to go at least once a month. I even ordered my mom her mothers day meal to go from here (during covid) as it has a special place in my heart. I recently moved to MB so I was super excited to have seafood filled meal while having a beautiful view of the ocean and their solarium is gorgeous! As usual when I made reservations I was told that the solarium is not guaranteed, I explained it was my birthday and I no longer live here so if it was all possible I would be very appreciative. Unfortunately we were seated in the booth furthest from the beach as possible, the manager did offer to re-seat us into the solarium after the table before us left but we were already settled and opted not to move. When reserving I had also requested a booster seat which I had to ask for again as it was not at the table or offered when we were seated. They gladly rushed the kids menu meal out but the Alfredo was very bland and even our boy requested salt as it was basically butter on noodles. My sister had the tofu & Brussels sprouts appy which was amazing, even our 5 yr old enjoyed it. My mom got the seafood hot pot, a staple that never disappoints, but the ahi tuna which used to be my favorite was extremely bland and boring and I felt bad for recommending it to my partner. I ordered the special, a bacon wrapped halibut filet with seasonal veggies rice and prawns. The prawns were done perfectly but the halibut was very dry, fortunately the compote that it was served with added some flavor but over all I was very disappointed. The manager was very welcoming and was happy to have us go into the solarium to take some family photos before we left which I greatly appreciated but it was definitely not what I remembered and I hope they can get back to that level again.
Seriously loved this restaurant. Our server and all of the other staff we encountered were so lovely. The food was incredible. My only regret is not trying this place out sooner. Will definitely be going back! I forgot to take a photo of my main dish, the pecan crusted steelhead - but that's only because I was enjoying it too much. I did remember to take a photo of dessert, the chocolate ganache. Delicious, delicious, delicious!
We had a bad experience here. The service was terrible. We were a group of 12 people. Took us two hours to get our food. The server mixed up orders we were passing plates around to get the right plate to the right person. Then when the bills came she charged for the wrong food items. We spoke to the supervisor and he offered us free taquilla shots because we were there for my birthday. The taquilla we got was watered down!! Will not recommend to go here as a big group. The server was out of it and she seemed to tired or just didn't care to serve us because she was going to charge us an automatic tip anyways I guess?
Second time going here. Food is amazing and service is excellent. Prices are good too
Amazing food at reasonable prices, warm atmosphere, awesome staff. Great spot to have a nice meal with friends.
Fantastic food, drinks and service! Cheap wine night on Wednesdays!
Meal type
Such a lovely dinner tonight at the WAG in White Rock.
Stuffed chicken was very good. Window seat looking at the water added a great view to the evening
So great to be back! Tables are well apart, windows are open for air. I was hesitant about eating out, but there were many measures in place to help us feel confident.
What an absolutely good venue. Food was exceptional and service was great. I had the crab cakes and curry prawns. Excellent
Had the shrimp cakes here and a few drinks with some staff members. Atmosphere is best, wait staff was great and attentive. Food was good and tasted very fresh
Second time coming in 10 years and disappointed again. The food is lacking in taste and frankly the decor needs freshen. The chairs are falling apart, upholstery is patchy and bathroom smells, well like a bathroom. The hot pot was supposed to have steelhead and snapper in it, and it had neither. Would not recommend for the price of the food, but the view is nice.
Incredibly good food with wine pairings that is reasonably priced, a very warm setting inside and a great view of the beach combined with excellent service makes this a top notch White Rock restaurant.
We were pleasantly surprised. The decor is "eclectic". The food is very good....nice presentation. Good wine list. Harbor view. We really liked this place.
We love everything about this restaurant. The views are outstanding! Great location. The staff are so helpful and friendly: they always make our group events a big success. The food is excellent. The decor and atmosphere is amazing. Good for small and large get-togethers.
Extremely disappointed with this business. We made a reservation a month ago for my father in laws birthday dinner. An hour before our 4:30pm reservation we received a call and said that they couldn’t accommodate our table because we needed highchairs and they were fully booked. When I called back the manager was so awful to me. She didn’t let me get a word in and kept repeating that they have staffing issues. She accused me of talking poorly to her because I was expressing my frustration with their system, and she hung up on me. If this was my employee I’d be extremely disappointed in how she handled the situation. There are ways to go about these things and hanging up on a customer isn’t acceptable.
Warm atmosphere with spectacular views. Great food and good service. Good for couples, families or large groups. Worth the drive from the Vancouver downtown area.
I was very disappointed with WAG. I phoned on Wednesday for a Thursday reservation at 5:30 pm. It was for a special birthday occasion of seven family members. I specifically requested the main dining room with a view. On Thursday WAG called me back and I once again asked them if my party could be in the main dining room. They said that only one table fit seven but is was not near the window but was still in the main dining room. When my party arrived we were led to a large table in the pub are with no view. I complained but they blamed the reason was Covid guidelines, which I knew that wall totally bull..... but we stuck and had to sit in the pub area. To boot two in our party ordered the lobster ravioli and one ordered the seafood Penne. The pasta was under cooked and food was cold when it got to the table. Totally horrific experience. Cactus Club would have been a better option. I won't be returning anytime soon.
The customer service here was above and beyond our expectations, the view was a bonus!
Great food good atmosphere, the little rip appetizers are amazing. The story behind this place is pretty cool and its definitely an icon of the city the building has gone constant upgrades and updates but it was originally build in 1913
Its my happy place to lunch with buddies.( oh, &food and service consistently good too.)
I can't believe my first time here was only last week! I really enjoyed it, it definitely lived up to everyone's recommendations. I really enjoyed the calamari and the fish and chips. I would say the calamari is one of my faves here, especially served with the lemon aioli!
Great food....nice atmosphere...nice view... relaxed but classy...Dani is a great hostess/server.
Rhe food was fantastic however, the social and physical distancing practices set up since COVID are poor. The waiters did not wear masks and are undoubtedly closer than 2m from patrons when serving food, refilling water etc. There are no markings on the floor or stairway to avoid running into others, but there was hand sanitizer provided. The washroom did also close down a stall to maintain safe distance in washroomm
This is our 3rd visit to the WAG. Always great food and ambiance. Prices are good value, restaurant is clean and service is usually very good. Would recommend to friends and we will be back for another date night.
Wonderful experience!!! Nice patio table overlooking the ocean on a gorgeous summer day! Menu had lots of variety & the food was really good. Server was top notch & other staff are friendly & helpful. Looking forward to returning here often.
Been going for years. Always a treat. Never disappointed. Nice & competent servers. Gourmet food in a relaxed old bank building eclectic setting. We enjoy live music when Jani Jakovac is there; an amazing artist whose voice immediately relaxes me. Just go!
Love it. Starts off pub-ish, and as you walk further, it opens up to a bright solarium like restaurant with views of the waterfront. Great food. Lots of meat, seafood and there are veg options too for the vegieheads, including a vegan option last time I looked. Live music, if you time it right. Classic rock in the pub area, the day I went. Nice background music and not overpowering. The band was great. They do get real busy, so wouldn't recommend it for a quick bite as it may take time. Small free parking area. Recommend calling ahead for reservations although it may not be necessary. Prices are reasonable.
I have been dining here for years . Food always good until yesterday. I am thinking they changed the chef .i ordered beet salad and the Arugula was overdressed soggy and beets were sioft and not pickled. I didn’t order anything else because of such a drastic change in The beet salad Alone. I had been 2 weeks previously where they gave bread but they didn’t bring bread to the table I asked “why” the waitress said they did prior but recently just changed that bread option. Might sound trivial but that salad is usually spot on consistent and yesterday i give it 2 out of 10. Please don’t change the recipes that’s why people go to your restaurant
We have been to the WAG many times in the past and went last night for our Anniversary. We enjoyed the staff and I felt the food was missing something. Don't get me wrong, it was good but was definitely missing flavour! If I could give a 4.5 I would and yes we will go back.
My partner and I,with our 2 year old daughter, had a fabulous time here in Mother's Day. Stunning view of the ocean and the Semiahmoo Bay. Good food, nice wine list, and great cocktails. I was extremely impressed by our server, Mati, who was extremely attentive, knowledgable, helpful and kind in every way possible. As a restaurant owner, I place extremely high value on great service and Mati was 10/10! Thank you for a fantastic afternoon on a special occasion.
Service
The food was great but the SERVICE was excellent. The waitress was well-trained and attentive to both my girlfriend and myself. Checking up at the right times but not too much. Great view from the table, warm and inviting decor. Highly recommend!
Very disappointing. I went cause the reviews were great. Well, not so great. I ordered crab cakes appy $16. and I have never had crabs cakes that looked and tasted like canned tuna cakes-not impressed. The entire meal was poor. I don't mind paying for a good meal but, it needs to be a good meal. I will never go back.
Great Food and Service here!!! The beef carpaccio is to die for!!!!! Also the short ribs are very tasty!!! Love this place!!! And the view if you get a window seat is breathtaking!!!
Service
Really good food and fantastic service. Smallish menu but covers all type foods and prepared well. Extensive wines, decent bar, many beers but only five on tap. Don't let the exterior or decor decide for you. This is a rougher looking gem.
Good food. After waiting for 20 min we got our drink order. 30 min in and still haven’t ordered food. If it’s always this busy hire some staff. We had reservations and still waiting.
Well we where super disappointed with our dinner today . My bf ordered the 7 oz flat iron steak which tasted like rubber couldnt chew it and mashed potatoes had a big raw potatoe thrown in there , plus the beet salad had no beets.... very disappointing. I enjoyed my seafood hot pot but couldn't believe how awful his steak dinner was Thanks
Brought our office here for a Christmas dinner last night. This place killed it. Server was knowledgeable and fast, ambience was very nice. The food has excellent flavour and came out hot. All 9 guests ordered different appies, entrees and desserts and all 9 liked it including some pretty well-travelled people in the group. Personally my steak was cooked perfectly to order. These guys made me look good. Great dinner!
I liked the place and location but didn't like the food. When I looked at the menu online seemed quite interesting but I was very disappointed when I got there. The lobster ravioli were a mix of sauces that didn't really all go together. The mixed grilled seafood came with some overcooked green beans. Don't think I'll ever go again.
Tried out their take and bake Hoisin Short Ribs. Easy to make at home.
One of my favorite spots along the strip to eat at. If you are looking for a romantic evening or a tasty lunch, check this place out. The only downside is weekends may be quite noisy leading to hard conversations however this was only one of my many experiences here.
Been here on many occasions, service always good. One time for a family celebration, 15 of us they catered perfectly and let us bring our own cake. Dinned again on Friday for the set menu it was very nice ... a three course meal for 2, one 9oz good red all under 90$. My husband had the hot pot his favourite. I had the surf and turf ... the steak and and maSh were perfect however 2 measly frozen shrimp defrosted did not make it surfy for me. I asked the waiter he confirmed this was the regular S&T meal. Oh well, I know what real shrimps taste like and couldn’t beat the price for a romantic dinner set to live music and a beach vibe. The warm bread with ooil and balsamic is devine and on the house. If you sit in a both overlooking the parking lot you can have a good view of the comings and goings of the dispensery below, very interesting people watching!!
We were there yesterday for My husbands birthday the food wasn't as good. Had the surf and turf small mingy piece of steak lots of garlic mash and vegies not worth the $25 dollars. They charge way too much and you get small portions. =-(
Went for a birthday dinner the other night. Service was ok but meal was very disappointing. We both had the chicken which was dry and didn't appear to be stuffed with anything at all. Should have sent it back but we were so hungry so took our chances - Not the wisest decision we have ever made,,,,,
Excellent Presentation, Friendly Staff, & Fast Service.
The service was super friendly and efficient, the food was tasty. There was really moce live music. It's a bit on the pricey side, however it's a funky place with some really cool decor, so worth it. They accommodated our 1 year old well as well. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
1 star for the location-it was evening and couldn’t see the view but I hear it’s amazing. Food was horrible, esp foe the prices they charge-ordered mussels which came with...fries. Fries with mussels was strange enough but they were served in a small dish placed inside the shallow bowl for the mussels. Make sense?? No! The mussel sauce was supposed to have wine in it but just tasted like Campbell’s tomato soup. And the ‘martini’ I ordered from the menu list (literally named ‘Martinis’ -these were a variety of strange cocktails, NOT martinis) didn’t taste like it had any gin in it whatsoever, certainly not Bombay Gin like the menu stated. There was only flavour when I squeezed the lemon or lime garnish in there (can’t recall whether the garnish was lime or the drink ingredients contained lime juice but the menu said it had both lemon AND lime in there somehow. So strange.). Go for a beer and the view, not the food or cocktails.
My friend and I decided to check out this restaurant yesterday afternoon. Well, the service there was awful. We both ordered our meals and when the meals arrived we weren't given any water, and we weren't given any napkins either. Nonetheless, I ordered the Fish and Chips plate, and upon eating it I noticed that it wasn't crispy as the fish batter usually is at other restaurants. The fries weren't thoroughly cooked either, I had to get up from my chair in order to find out where our server went off to. I eventually found her at a table by herself while she was texting someone. I told her about the condition of my fish and Chips, and that I would like a new order, and to have 2 glasses of water and napkins at our table. She said she would be right on it. I used the washroom there and when I came back to my table there wasn't any glasses of water there, and no napkins either. I wasn't impressed at all. I never did receive a new order and when the server came back to my table she wanted to know if I wanted a bottle of beer. I told her that we are ready to leave because neither one of us was even greeted as we entered this restaurant, and because my friend and I were so hungry we decided to eat what looked like the cooked portions of our meals and we left the uncooked parts to the sides of our plates. When I asked our server again for 2 glasses of water, she finally went to get the pitcher of water and only then did she bring us 2 glasses of water. When it came to paying our bill, our server said to me that she would like a tip for both her and the other staff members there for helping them out. I told her, are you kidding me? I have never been asked such an insulting question before in a restaurant setting. I told her that she wasn't a friendly server, and our food orders weren't thoroughly cooked, and that I never received a new order of my fish and chips, and I had to continue to ask for both napkins and 2 glasses of water as well. I told her we will never come here again. I also told her that she should have corrected our bill because of poor service and poor food quality too. I asked her why my friend's bill was so high for just 3 crabcakes, the price should be $12.00 and not $15.95. She said oh right, I should have done that but it's on the bill so that's what you need to pay me for your friend's order. I paid the bill in full, and I told her that I will be writing a very poor review of this particular restaurant and the poor service and poor food quality of our meals as well. She didn't care about that, but sure insisted that I leave her with a sizable tip. I told her that will never happen, not now, and not ever. I also told her that I will be posting my reviews on Google, TripAdvisor, and on social media websites that I belong to. It didn't even faze her, So, we left. And here I am this morning writing up this review of this Terrible service and very poor food quality of the food items that my friend and I had here yesterday afternoon. I will never forget this horrible experience. And a word to the owners of this restaurant, you need to be on top of things with both your restaurant and your food that you are serving here as well. In addition to of course, the proper training of your staff members that you have working for you there too. I spent $40.00 in your restaurant, and we received the worst experience ever from your staff there as well as the uncooked food that arrived at our table as well. And above all, our server demanded to us both that we should leave her a sizable tip for both her and her staff members here too. They should be fired!!!! Angela Dahl.
Been there twice. The service is great, the food is awesome, and they serve a lot of BC wines. Love it there.
This restaurant may seem a bit odd in its location and you might have to walk up some rather steep stairs but in the end you find an amazing place with a stunning view. There are few great views of the ocean while you eat but this is one. The food and service here is wonderful. If you are vegetarian you will still find some great choices to enjoy. I look forward to my next visit.
The stuffed chicken here is AMAZING! Good Sangria, and the atmosphere is very chill but upscale. Live music on the weekends (casual covers by local artists) Overall an excellent experience.
Beautiful view. Excellent food. Really sweet, funky vibe. Love it here!
What a fantastic find! Great atmosphere, great service and amazing food. From the moment we walked in I knew this was going to be a new favorite. I can't say enough about the menu, everything tasted so fresh. Definitely will be back.
Been meaning to eat here for a while. Crossed my fingers and booked my first reservation for Mother's Day lunch. They did not disappoint, especially on a busy holiday Sunday. Service staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. Never had an empty glass or had to look around for service. Food was delicious and expediting time was on point. Management and staff are obviously experienced and "Thank You" you made my Mom a very happy lady. Not to mention beautiful window table overlooking the beach. I never review anything, but this place was worth giving a review.
Excellent as always ive always enjoyed the meals, experience and its usually busy so an obvious choice for night out
Had a great mother's Day brunch at WAG. I highly recommend the Curry Kahlua Prawns with saffron rice.....sooooo tasty!
Never a disappointment eating here. They have plexiglass up between the tables, but it doesn’t take away from the window tables views at all. It always feels clean and the staff are very attentive and patient. The food is great, the portions are perfect, and it feels very homey every time. It’s a perfect place to eat before a nice walk afterwards if you feel inclined. Definitely would recommend trying it when you’re in the area! It’s great for any occasion; dressed up or casual you will have a good time!
Love this place. One of my favourites. Great atmosphere, wonderful views, staff is always amazing. And. The food. The food is just perfect every time. I usually want to lick the plate clean ????
I was visiting from Texas and told to try this place. I told the waitress to surprise me and j had the best tuna I've ever had in my life. They made me feel right at home. The beach is literally right behind it. Have dinner and check it out after.
Good first time, Jessica did a great job making the meal delightful, most of the food was very good. Braised beef no much but the sauce made up for meat stringiness. Tiramisu delicious but no coffee and very best was the ganache chocolate, tasted like a slightly softened high-class chocolate bar, caramelized bananas hiding inside add a nice crunch and flavor.
Overall good place with great food however not good staff. Came in here a month ago for just an appetizer with my husband and baby. As soon as we walked in the host states "theres three of you? where are we going to put you" Wow was I taken back by that comment. The whole restaurant was EMPTY!!! We came here after a funeral just wanting some quiet time but was very offended from the minute we walked in. The other hostess was also shocked at how rude the greeting host's (the older gentleman) comment was. Places like this will go down hill if the attitude doesn't change. Everyone else there was great! Food was great! Decor and overall ambiance was perfect! Hope this guy doesn't deter other guests as this is a hidden gem.
Location is really beautiful. Our server Phil was great ! The food took longer then usual to come out, Phil let us know it was busier then usual and kept us in the loop. Once the food did come out it was delicious !
This place is amazing! The servers are so great, the food is delicious and the view cannot be beat. The owner is super nice and recognizes us when we come in even though it's only once or twice a year. It's a favorite with all the members of my family. I highly recommend the Seafood Hot Pot ❤

My husband and I haven’t been on a date in a long time. So, when we finally were given the opportunity, we decided to try out the WAG as we had heard great things and what better way to spend a hot summer evening than down at White Rock Beach. We were seated and it took 10 minutes for water and our server to show up at our table. Considering how hot it was (34°), I could have used the water right when we sat down. Then we noticed other tables being given bread with vinegar/oil, and the table next to us was delivered some when they were actually waiting for their dessert. They asked us if it was for us, but we didn’t know if it was a paid thing or what. 5 mins later, the man who brought it to their table came and took it away and brought it to another table farther down the deck. We ended up ordering after sitting there for another 20 minutes, as our server didn’t notice we had closed out menu apparently. Then finally were we brought this complimentary bread and oil that all the other tables had already received. Another 20 go by, and our meals are brought out to us and the presentation was really nice. I ordered the Braised Beef ($25) and my husband ordered the lobster ravioli ($23). On first thought, the first few bites of beef were okay, but the sauce was flavourless, and the mashed potatoes were assaulted with so many spices I couldn’t even taste the potato. The beens were 100% undercooked, and too assaulted with some sort of spice. Everything wasn’t even hot, it was like warm at best. My husbands lobster ravioli was mildly better, although his sauce was so liquidy we wouldn’t even call it a cream sauce. Again, it wasn’t hot, just warmish. I finished the beef but left 80% of the potato and beans and didn’t pack it up because it was not worth taking home to eat, which is rare as I do not like wasting food. Our server didn’t check on us more than right after our food being delivered and then we ordered a creme brûlée to see if maybe they would get one thing right... No. The creme brûlée top was way too thick and hard, and the custard underneath tasted like instant pudding. Thank goodness we had a coupon, but even the $40+ we spend on this meal, was a waste of money. Next time we will go get fish and chips on the beach because it will be cheaper and less disappointing. So much for date night. We won’t be coming here again.
Lovely spot on the ocean. Nice variety of food and great service.
Went for dinner on NYE and shared calamari. My GF ordered rack of lamb and I had the beef tenderloin. We both really liked all the food and the cocktails were good as well. Our only complaint was we found it to be cold where we were seated which resulted in us not spending as long at the restaurant as we otherwise would have.
The Brussels sprouts and tofu appetizer was amazing! The waitress was super friendly. Manager was also very friendly. Little bit on the pricey side and I wish they would have had more selection for vegetarian/vegan food. Parking also little bit tricky to find.
Loved the food and the view! Perfect place for date night or just to relax and have a nice lunch/dinner. the atmosphere is calm and quaint, definitely one of my favourite restaurants!
October 2019 update - we've been coming to WAG for many years, and the food and service has always been pretty decent. The view is definitely amazing, and it is fun to watch the Amtrak zip by. Unfortunately, our last visit on Sunday October 27th was not as amazing as usual. As a matter of fact, the last couple of times we have come have been a little disappointing. The prices have gone up considerably, $18 for a burger? This is lunch! Too expensive! The burgers and sandwiches are supposed to come with rosemary garlic fries, but we just got a bunch of little chips and ends of fries, with no flavour added. Shouldn't have to eat fries with a knife and fork, like deep fried hashbrowns. Also, did not get the bread and oil/vinegar that I love there, maybe because it was lunch? At least they finally stopped calling the steelhead a salmon! I think next time I am looking for a view with my meal, I might consider take out and a park bench. -------- Always excellent food and service. I suggest Cod and Chips for lunch, and Seafood Hot Pot for dinner. Their Kahlua Prawns are also excellent. The servers usually bring out bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar, but that is not consistent, and sometimes you have to ask; or maybe they don't do it for lunch? The view of the beach is fantastic, and watching the trains go by is fun, even for the big kids. Parking can be a bit tight, so come early, or plan on paying $5 for the big gravel lot. That's fine, you'll want to stay longer and go for a walk anyways!
This was our second visit to WAG, the last being about a year ago. We are normally gluten and dairy free, but now I'm also low fodmap. Hubby ordered a shrimp dish (no pictures this time) which he enjoyed. I had the rib eye steak, cooked with just salt and pepper, and delicious crisp green beans. The steak was good, not too much fat or gristle, and cooked well. I think I surprised our server by eating most of it! Beautiful views, good food, responsive to dietary needs, and great service.
The food at this restaurant is hands down the best I have had in a long time. The flavours are literally out of this world. The ribs and cabbage rolls were my faves, the pasta dishes were finger licking good and oh the sauces.... Amazing spot and highly recommended by me
Still the Restaurant of choice for the Anniversary meal. Great menu. Fantastic location and atmosphere. Tasty food along with good service.
Beautiful view. Nice interior and friendly staff. The food is good but there was something that threw me off. I feel like all restaurants in this calibre have the same or closely similar menus. The over priced free range chicken, rack of lamb and/or duck confit. It's because of things like that I dont visit restaurants like this.
View of the water where you can always count on great food. Been here many times and each time the service is awesomely awesome with servers who must have shares in the restaurant. Meals are always interesting and delicious and are delivered to you quickly, even when the place is busy (which is often.) Love it!
Great place to go with the loved one. Ordered the rack of Lamb, a little bit too much seasoning source but otherwise all pretty good. The seafood hot pot is excellent, would be great if can have more rice noodle or option for some extra rice. Love the steel head on chips, fish is excellent! Waitress need better training, come twice put hand on my plate ask if still working on when I only finish half. Leave us alone for the POS terminal so I have to tear off receipt by myself.
Yam fries, short rib, gnocchi and a 9 oz cab sav for approx $82 (incl tip) This place has been around for awhile and is still consistently good, however service sometimes does not meet expectations. They accept reservations and is recommended. This particular visit was a slight let down: after being seated and ordering, they forgot that we did not have cutlery after the food arrived. We also had to ask for bread which should have been offered in the first instance. The roaming manager seems switched on. Food was good. The yam fries were great: served hot, crispy and thin. Short rib was very tender and easily separates with just a fork. Gnocchi was nice. Average price for this kind of restaurant in the white rock area. Saturday night had live music: I didn’t find this particular performer tonight to be entertaining and it was definitely distracting.
Went there tonight for my mom's birthday. We celebrated with a large group and couldn't be more thrilled with the service from Margaret !! She is so kind and helpful with out a doubt the best service I have ever had! Every staff member was cheerful and helpful. The food was fantastic and the drinks were perfect! I highly recommend the WAG for a family celebration or even a nice night out. Outstanding ???????? if I could rate more more than 5 stars... I would !! Thanks again Margaret!
Not for me. Burger patty was extremely dry, over cooked and not flavorful at all! They add rosemary herbs in literally everything! (They should let the guests know about it). Overall, really bad experience.
Love this place and always look forward to going back! I would recommend making reservations.
Place seemed empty and 2 of my friends and I walked in asked for a table of 3, we were told they nothing available for the night, not even a wait, people walked out after they were finished and people were walking in as well, the 3 of us were of east Indian decent, I believe we were profiled and discriminated against, very disappointed to this behavior
We like to try a place several times before we comment. After 5 visits, we are now ready to say this is a very top notch restaurant, with very friendly staff and total old ambience experience. Our wait staff could not be more excellent. Thanks Cassey, Rebecca and Jessie. Now the food is all excellent. Very excellent. And the view.. what more could you ask than seeing the ocean, feeling the breeze in an open environment and having excellent food. Thanks WAG.
Situated in a funky older building on White Rock's waterfront, the Washington Avenue Grill (WAG) is one of the more prestigious restaurants in the area. The restaurant has fabulous views of the Semiahmoo Bay that are impressive even when the weather isn't ideal. The service staff is friendly and helpful and the food is memorable especially if you are a seafood lover . The restaurant seemed particularly popular with groups of women out for a 'ladies' night and birthday parties. You won't be sorry for choosing this restaurant for your 'special night' out.
The seafood hot pot, keeps us coming back over and over again. It’s amazing! I hope it stays on the menu forever. Their mussels dish changes from time to time and always hit the spot. It’s busy every day of the week. Make a reservation.
Love The WAG. Our server was REALLY good (didn't get her name) and my daughter and I had a relaxing and delicious dinner. Good job WAG staff, you killed it!
Always great service, great ambiance and great food. Perfect for a nice girls lunch or nice romantic dinner out. Love the nights with live music. Perfect for celebrating pretty much anything!
EXCELLENT Top notch Nicely prepared dishes Gorgeous Canadian bayside view by the window! Appetizers Entrees Desserts An absolute must try!!! Very accommodating! Good service!
What can I say it was just a terrible experience. We asked for bread before the meal and the waitress said, "oh, you want bread service?" to which we replied 'yes.' She proceeded to bring two small slices of lightly toasted wonderbread (or similar), each on its own plate and accompanied with a large saucer of vinegar. What in the heck was up with that? Two slices total, each cut in half, for six people. So four of us got 1/4 slice of bread each and 2 people got a whole half slice. The bread was bad and the vinegar dip was awful. I just don't know what to make of it. It was just incredibly bad. I had the 'stuffed chicken,' which turned out to be chicken with a little bit of cheese and a small amount of sauce. The fries were awful: mushy, funny tasting, and too salty. And they sat us at the furthest table from the ocean. No view whatsoever.
Went for our anniversary. Great Location! Lovely view! Wonderful service and the food was good!
Haunted from what I just seen on a show so they say they see a girl like 12 with blonde hair hiding and peaking around corners and flickering lights and seeing people in mirrors that aren’t their!! Crazy but I would have to see it to believe it! But again if you really want to see something you will fabricate anything!
Service is usually pretty good. Food tends to be average but decent. Ambiance is great especially if you can catch a sunset - though anytime is good (even when it is stormy out). Great peanut butter pie! Now if only they would put Guinness on tap I am sure our support of this otherwise fine establishment would go up.
One my fave spots for last 20yrs or so. Can't recommend it enough for anyone in south surrey or white rock area. Not that boujie arrogant kinda vibe. It's vintage and food is beyond good.

Always enjoy our meals here. Wednesday is a favorite night as wine is 1/3 off the regular price of a bottle and there is a nice low key pianist with a lovely voice who entertains. If you sign up for the Birthday Club and for emails you get a $25.00 certificate to use during the month surrounding your birthday (with purchase of a second entree) and abot 3 or 4 times a year you get a $16.00 coupon to be used on two entrees. Food is always good. Lot's of variety to choose from from seafood to meat. Nice atmosphere, most tables have at least a peek at the beach if not a full view.
Food is delicious! Short ribs with boxing sauspce are fall of the bone delicious. Portion s are a bit small for the price you pay. Especially the peanut butter cake Slice. For 8.00 you would expect a decent Slice but I think it was only a 1" wide and not very tall, very tasty though!
I went for dinner here a few weeks ago with a group and had a amazing steak dinner. There was a bit of a wait for our food. I feel that it was due to it being a Friday night and and that they had live musicians in. I would recommend a reservation for a Friday or Saturday night. This place is a hidden gem. I will definitely be returning to sample more of their menu and desserts. Beautiful views, great service and fabulous food. I can't say enough about how good the steak was.
When you figure out it's a restaurant then you are good to go. Food was great and the service was great. The building has a tonne of character!
This place will always hold a special spot with me! I’ve been coming to the WAG for years and it never disappoints. Birthday dinners, surprise dinners, lunches, anniversaries or just a date night it’s the best place! I love love love the seafood penne it’s my absolute favourite.
A Pacific Northwest menu with a waterfront view. Sit in the glass atrium and listen to live patio music. I recommend the kahlua curry prawn and surf and turf!
The food and service was absolutely fabulous. I tried the Salmon fish and chips, something I've never experienced before, and it was amazing. For dinner, Tiramisu which was also incredible. The view outside is wonderful too. Perhaps not as outwardly fancy as The Boathouse or the Keg, this place honestly competes in food.
Beautiful location and views, food is excellent. Both times I've been there the service has been nothing to get excited about. We went there for my friend's birthday recently and were told that they don't do anything for birthdays unless you sign up on their website 6 months prior...
Great atmosphere and view. Friendly staff and a menu with an excellent selection.
Outstanding food, great view, good service, in a casual setting, but don't expect quiet. The halibut and prawn special of the day was superbly cooked (moist, flavorful, melt-in-the-mouth perfection) with a delicious spicy coating and creamy, delicious hollandaise sauce. Wow! The ocean view was lovely and the trains passing by were not intrusive, just interesting. The room has many tables, lots of glass and hard surfaces, so the noise level makes it necessary to lean over your table to talk to your companion. Live music further increases the volume. We'll be back, but we'll try to pick an hour where there are fewer boisterous diners!
Nice venue but not impressed with long wait (1hr) for our food to come out. There was a large party at the restaurant also but to wait that long.. not acceptable. Our food was not hot and tasted average. Only 2 waitress working. This was our first visit and heard great things about the restaurant.. but left disappointed.
Went for the first time for an anniversary dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, had a tough time choosing what to eat. Several things on the menu looked delicious. Service was a little on the slow side but that's only because they where packed. Popular place to go in White Rock it seems.
Love the place. Good food good service and good atmosphere.
restaurant had a very rustic look. The ambience was good. I had ordered the veggie ravioli. The ravioli was swimming in sauce, the serving size was small. The food was not worth the price. The server didn't seem to care about doing her job, she kept on mixing the orders. Food arrived 2 hours after i ordered. Would not eat here again!
When making reservations today for dinner, I didn't expect to have my already high expectations of the WAG to be blown out of the water. Portion sizes were significantly larger than usual. As a big eater, I was really impressed with the size of the appetizer (shortrib poutine) and my table's entrées which were significantly larger than in the past. Really impressed today. Thanks again for your fantastic service and devotion to quality food.
recomend the seafood hotpot. Also recomend the prime rib special ( 5-6pm) on a friday. Happy hour the wine and sangria $5each. Nice change from the usual resturant chains. total bill including happy hour drinks came to $120 for 3 people.
Always fabulous at the WAG - food and staff are 2nd to none !!!
Me and my Girlfriend went here on New Years and was fearing they may book the venue to full and would not feel safe. Thankfully we were sat in the corner and away from most other tables, since there was quite a few people the restaurant. However the rest of the experience was splendid. Our waitress sat us down and did not come to take any orders for about 20 minutes. However she made up for this by giving us drinks on the house which was a welcome surprise. The food as usual was very good and reasonably priced considering the style of restaurant. Overall a very good experience, Highly recommend.
Great service with friendly server. Food is good and inexpensive... Good view
Very cool place. Food was good. Server was great but other service like keeping water glass filled. Very on table etc lacked for a higher end experience
Dinner
I love this place! The ambiance, the service, the food are always extraordinary. If you've not walked down Marine, checked out the pier and finished your evening at WAG, you must!
Always amazing! Fabulous ocean views, great fresh seafood, and probably the best drinks that all of Vancouver has to offer. Don't go too early on Saturday nights or else you'll miss the live music
An absolute gem overlooking the ocean with open roof concept. Great food and drinks!!
This restaurant is Not wheelchair accessible. Dining is on the second floor, no wheelchair ramp or handrails at the entrance and no elevator. This restuarant caters to people without mobility issues. Great selection and quality of food. I loved the ocean view. Do not expect a fine dining experience although the dinner menu was a bit pricey. Popular historical location in White Rock and big parking lot.
Went there last night for our 39th wedding anniversary. Had booked thru opentable, they ask whether it is for an occasion. I put down anniversary, assuming the restaurant would be made aware of this. We were there for happy hour so we started off with cheap drinks. Not sure if that set the tone, but from then on our service plummeted. There were younger couples to our left and right, who came in after us, both of them received far superior service than we did. In fact one couple had placed there order before we were even asked if we'd like to order. Was wondering if the assumption is that older couples tip less. However, we started off with calamari and crab cakes. Absolutely to die for. The hubby had prime rib, Friday special, and I had the lamb shank. Prime rib was excellent, he devoured everything. Lamb shank, not so much, was not tender and I would say a little chewy. Both came with green beans and mashed potato which were cooked to perfection. The gravy was a little salty. We had also ordered a nice bottle of wine, the waitress poured our first glass and we never saw her again until we had finished our meal. So with the exception of the lamb and service, it was a good evening, not excellent. We did mention the lamb was tough...no comment. We ended with dessert, which was also very good. Bottom line, food was for the most part excellent, service sucked and very disappointed we were not asked about our anniversary. We did leave a tip, although I was not happy about it. Strange how the server sets the tone of the meal. Considering the long drive, probably won't be going back anytime soon.
Just arrived and ordered a drink....told waitress we wanted to have a drink and await our third party before ordering. Was told and reiterated that no matter what the table was only available for an hour and a half. We are both grey haired and mature. Don't understand why this was announced. Kind of coloured our whole experience. Guess we will not order much...or return. Wow. That being said the service was attentive and the food was adequate. I won't hold it against the place but its definitely NOT full in here.
Don't waste your time, lunch for 5 adults. This was a birthday celebration for 83 year old Mom that traveled from North Van. We have gone to the WAG over the years and have enjoyed the food, not sure if its the Pandemic restarts? They have let the place go done hill, it was filthy dirty inside. The floors, walls and fixtures are covered in dust and filth. We had to request new side plates when we sat down as they were dirty. I should have known before we even ordered we were in trouble. Three ordered the fish and chips and it was not fit to eat. The employee, don't want to refer to them as a chef. He or she had deep fried the fish till is was as hard as a rock, dripping with grease. The bowls had a layer of oil in the bottom that you could poor out. The server brought new fish that hadn't been fried to a crisp but still dripping with oil. Unfortunately we all didn't get to eat together and by this time it had arrived the three didn't feel like another greasy meal. Server did take off one of the fish and chips orders from the bill but the damage was already done. WAG, never again!
Great service. Absolutely tasty food! Fantastic atmosphere! Definitely coming back!!
Washington ave grill has always been one of our favorite restaurants. Their food as always was amazing tonight and they had really good service -the servers always go above and beyond here- even in a very different time ????.
Very nice ambiance for summer date night. Did reservations thru open table considering that we were 15 mins late they sat us immediately. We were sitted in the middle but i really wanted beside the window and the soonest i saw a vacated window side table i requested for us to move and they were super nice! The food pricing is what i expected everything turned out to be a perfect date night for me and my husband. There are only ample parking but there is an overflow pay parking behind. My husband paid $5. The plus for this place is of course the view and you can walk across the railway to the beach. There is a live music at night. Would definitely recommend to everyone.
My wife and I are regulars at the grill for lunch and we are never disappointed and we know our restaurants. The service is great, food quality is always superb, staff is super friendly, location is beautiful; particularly if you can get a seat on the outdoor covered patio on a sunny day. views of the beach and the train tracks are awesome. If you are looking for a great place to eat, then this is my top recommendation at white rock. free parking also.
We chose this restaurant based on other reviews. This was our first time there. From our arrival at 5:30, July 3, 2017, walking up a flight of stairs that had not seen a cleaning in a while, to being led through the service area to reach our table, to the spotted, dirty looking glasses on the table, we were tentative re. our upcoming celebration. We were seated, as we requested, by the window which was lovely. However, the tables were 2 foot square pub tables pushed together. They were too small to easily accommodate the large entree plates. It was quite a shuffle to to get all 8 of our guests entrees on the table. When our server arrived with the water pitcher we pointed out the spotty, dirty looking glasses. She told us that it was just caused by the White Rock water but that she could polish them if we wanted. We chose to have the glasses polished. We were really unsure whether or not the glasses had been left on the table from the previous diners. The server returned in a while with clean filled water glasses, one of which she accidentally spilled on one of our party. Oops! He was drenched! Three of our guests sitting at one end of the table were under the open roof. They endured the heat and glare from the very hot sun. Never having been there before, we did not know if their situation could be ameliorated. About 45 minutes after our arrival, the shade was pulled over the open roof, easing our guests obvious discomfort. Although we did not ask, more expeditious attention to the guest's comfort would have been greatly appreciated. At no time did the server offer an explanation of the menu. Eventually she told us about that night's specials. She said if we had any questions to just ask and left the table so quickly no one had a chance to ask anything. The server was very good at explaining the various beer choices and her recommendations were enjoyed by the guests who chose to drink beer. Wine drinkers should know that what is offered as house wine is a bottle of wine in the same price range as their lower priced wines at $34.00/bottle. We were hoping to share some appetizers for our party of eight but the menu does not lend itself to that. Almost all the appetizers are constructed so as to make sharing very difficult and messy. Our order was taken. Three guests ordered the Ahi tuna entree at $28.00 and only one of the three was pleased with the choice. One of our party requires a Gluten Free option and the Ahi without the sauce was noted as such on the menu. It was indeed served dry without sauce of any kind. Perhaps being advertised as a GF selection for the $28.00 price, the chef could have devised a GF sauce to showcase his cooking. I chose the Curried Kahlua Prawn entree. The curry was extremely bland and the prawns were white and limp! We were all in agreement that the food was bland and without exception, lacking in seasoning. Several of the entrees were not really even warm. Furthermore, many of the plates arrived with drips from the serving on the rim. No attention to detail and a lack of pride in their product! Since we were celebrating a birthday, we presented our guest of honour with some presents. There were quite a few unoccupied tables at this point. However, during a special and obviously emotional moment, our sever broke in to ask if we were intending to order desert. Since there were vacant tables, and we were not preventing another party from being seated, we would have wished that she was more observant of what was happening at our table and waited for a more opportune time to make this dessert inquiry. Since we entered the restaurant at 5:30 it was nowhere near closing. All in all, we were hoping for a more fine dining experience. Indeed, our bill of $383.00 (almost $50.00/person) should have ensured better. However, the 2x2 pub tables, the dirty glasses, the drippy plates, the cooler temperature entrees, the bland food and the overwhelming lack of attention to detail left us feeling very disappointed with our experience. We are very unlikely to return!
The food was exceptional ????....We ordered over the phone it was a pleasure to talk to the hostess. The service was fast, our order was right.....overall a great experience.
Beautiful view, even better food! I would highly recommend this spot if you are ever in White Rock. It looks dark and dated from the outside but inside it is bright and extremely hip. There are huge windows looking over the ocean and it has a very rustic chic vibe. The food was also unreal. Would highly recommend the salmon salad.
Excellent dining experience with good seafood and drinks
Beautiful views of the ocean. Slow service the last few times we have gone. - beef carpaccio is sliced very thick. - fish tacos are very small with barely any toppings. - beef dip had lettuce in it. Seemed odd, I’ve never had lettuce in a beef dip before French fries are actually very good and well seasoned. Good drink menu! Over all the restaurant is just okay. The quality seems to be lacking.
Great location, delicious seafood and pastas. Very nice service as well. You can’t go wrong. Take a walk down the beach strip after dinner to walk it all off.
What a lovely place!! We got there right when it opened which allowed us a great view of the water. I had the Steelhead fish and chips which was excellent and I’m not a big salmon fan. Tempura batter was light and crisp and was not greasy at all. Excellent service to accompany the meal. All around excellent experience and I will definitely return, the menu has a lot of items I want to try. Looking forward to my next visit!!! Highly recommend this place if you are in White Rock.
All that you want in a restaurant experience. Parking is plentiful and free. Million dollar view. Cozy cool decor. Service amazing. Did I mention the view? Food was amazing all around. And wow super good prices for the quality of food and selection. I had the seafood hot pot and wow was it Good. My friend had good old fish and chips and it was a serving large enough to feed 2 people
Super delicious food, great friendly staff, very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
All the food is top, cocktails are delicious. Only had a an issue with the short rib poutine as the gravy/ribs were too salty for my palette. 10/10 would recommend this place
Delicious dinner at the WAG!
We decided to have our “old year’s lunch” at WAG yesterday. We’ve been here many times including huge group events. This restaurant NEVER disappoints...great generous service, great food, great location/views. This is our favourite restaurant in the area, by far!
Having lived in the area for my whole life, it is surprising that I did not become a regular here sooner. My husband and I recently went to the WAG for a date and really enjoyed ourselves. The ambiance was great, the servers were polite and helpful and our meals were delicious. We tried: crispy wonton prawns, butternut squash ravioli, pecan crusted steelhead and the chocolate ganache torte for dessert.

Amazing restaurant!! I was taken here for a first date and it was absolutely beautiful. I’ve also been here many other occasions and I am NEVER disappointed. The restaurant is overlooking the water and has an incredible view. The food always tastes so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the seafood. Appetizers are great. Your hostess will bring you bread and dip before you begin your meal. Live performers on some nights(check ahead of time) and the music performed is always laid back and relaxing. Either blues or jazz. The staff here are very kind and professional. Beautiful place all around.. I highly recommend.
Good service good food. The dinning room needs a cleaning.

Easily one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always outstanding and the staff is very well trained.
Views are spectacular, ambiance is very pleasant, airy and light with fairy lights and draping fabric under skylights. the live piano music was very nice, great volume not too loud for conversation. Service was very attentive- I didn't love my wine and she switched it up for free! I had the special Cajun Ribeye and hubby had the normal ribeye- both were excellent and nice sides. Very nice anniversary dinner- glad we chose the WAG
Located close to the beach with a very pretty indoor/outdoor patio with a view of the ocean. The food and service was great. Prices comparable with other restaurants near by. Happy Hour selection and prices are very good.
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a decadently robust menu. Gorgeous views over the ocean, but the beautifully plated dishes and eclectic decor will keep your eyes sufficiently delighted. Great fresh seafood dishes, and they have amazing steaks too!
One of our favorite places for casual dining with a view. Food is great, service is great, in a comfortable environment with a wide variety menu. Give it a try..you won't be disappointed.
