We have the opinions of real people who buy the products of The Boathouse Restaurant (Fish Shop) near to the territory of White Rock (Canada).
At the present the business has a score of 3.9 out of 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings is quite good, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the rating is quite reliable. If people have bothered to give their score when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to place opinions when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Fish Shop belongs to the category of Seafood restaurant.
Nice ambience, great selection of seafood meals cooked to your specifications! Great service!
The service was fair and polite as it should be since place was fairly quiet. I ordered a well done steak that came bleeding still. My elderly mother ordered halibut fish dish. The fish was the only editable thing on her plate. Both our vegetables were undercooked and outdated (uncooked woody carrots and shriveled uncooked green beans.. really?) . My young niece enjoyed her 15 dollar grill cheese sandwich off the kids menu. We were offered a single coupon for a free desert to make up for such a fail in the kitchen. Fine print.. I have to buy an entree to get my free desert. Good luck. I'll will pass.. third strike at this boat house.
The waiter was in a coma. We had our menus on the table the whe time. So weird. View was great though
Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli was Devine. Cajun Chicken Sandwich was poor because the Chicken was overcooked, small and not fresh. Server was good. White Rock location is a great place to be. For the price, it was ok. Get the Ravioli!
Great location, wonderful ambience and fantastic meals. Maybe because it was the holiday season, they were quite short staffed, thus the service was a bit slow. However, once we got seated, the slow service allowed us to take advantage of really enjoying the wonderful view of the White Rock beaches and Pier. The quality of the food was top notch. Service was slow, but friendly. We have been to this establishment many times and have always had good experience.
Well ... I'd like to review the Boathouse but after waiting about 10 minutes we were told that we needed to go the Host(ess) on the 1st Floor and they would help us. This was all I guess because they were completely slammed with their 3 tables! Down one floor ...nobody there so ...we didn't try any further. Not the first time for a less than stellar experience at this location. It seems often steeped in Mediocrity and today was no exception. Not even gonna mention we paid $7.50 in parking for the complete experience ????
The oysters were delicious ???? Service was also great ????????
The quality of food just doesn’t stack up to many amazing seafood restaurant in the area, but the prices are the same. You’ll still get a good meal, just not amazing. The ahi tuna tacos are always a hit. The service was great. The place itself needs some updating.
The food was really good, I had the maple salmon. Although, the prices were a bit high for the portion size ($28 for the dish in the picture).
A real experience! We sat on the heated padio with a view of the ocean. We had the swordfish, smoked salmon and seafood lasagna - upgraded to a 3 course meal. We had the seafood chowder with creme Brûlée as the desert. This is hands down the best food and experience! Our server was friendly and the food arrived in a timely fashion. Highly recommend!
Close to parking. Nice view. Very friendly staffs. Great food.
Came here for brunch for our friend’s birthday and we were not impressed by the service. Our server did not ask us how our food was (the eggs benedict was not great and quite hard to cut) and she was not very engaging. It’s funny because she was very friendly with the table behind us. Not once did she acknowledge it was our friend’s birthday, and when we had asked her to bring out the cake, she just brought it out in the bag that it came in, instead of taking it out of the box and lighting the candle to present it to us like any other restaurant would do. When settling our bills, we had to wait for quite some time because it was busy. Two of the bills were rung up incorrectly as well. Overall not impressed with our experience today.
They had an amazing view to fully enjoy cold beer on the roof on a hot day in summer. Our server was nice, but didn't tell my family that it'd cost $1 for splitting a plate. The tacos I ordered were delicious. Overall, a typical high-priced restaurant by the beach.
Went in around 8pm, the restaurant was quite empty yet we waited 20 minutes just to be given a cup of water. Food was fast, mediocre tasting, and service was terrible. He didn't check up on us once after we got our meal. He said he would be right back with the machine so we could pay, yet failed to bring it. Waited 30 minutes to be able to just pay for our meal, we asked multiple servers to bring us the machine instead however, no one did. First and last time visiting this restaurant for sure. Terrible experience to say the least
Great view of the water from the balcony. The oysters were really fresh and tasted very good as well.
Four of us had dinner on the roof patio. Tiny tables. We asked the waitress on 3 different occasions to remove our water glasses that we didn't ask for. She forgot cutlery, then again a steak knife for one of us. The crab legs we ordered were dry and warmed over like they had been sitting out or reheated. The steaks ordered were chewy. The view was beautiful but we'll think twice about going again.
Meal type
I wouldn’t say this place truly lives up to the hype, but it’s a decent restaurant at most. Pictured below are the fish’n’chips, blackened chicken burger, and seafood ravioli (don’t think it was worth the price…) However! The staff is nice and accommodating, they do get busy, all I can say is have patience. View from the upstairs patio is beautiful for dinner dates or sunsets.
We were 4 adults and a toddler. I chose this place as it seemed kids friendly ( they have a special kids menu). First thing we did was order food for the screaming toddler from one of the servers, requesting to get it out before everyone else. After 5 min another server came to take out order. When we finished we telling her what we wanted she summed up and just confirmed the kids meal as well. I didn't thing much of it at that point. 20 min passed and our kid haven't received her food yet. So we called our server to ask about the kid's food. Apparently she didn't realize it was meant to come out first. I find that odd, don't all parents ask the same? Anyway, she put a rush on it and we eventually got it after 10 more minutes of wait. Our food came 10 min after that. So about 40 min wait for burgers, in my opinion that is a lot of time. What can I say? The food was plain. Just Blah. Also our friend's seafood shared plater was disappointing to them. It had more nachos then seafood. Another annoying issue was the way the server asked us if we wanted fries or yam fries. She didn't mention the yam fries are additional $3.5. She presented it in a way that one can assume it's an option for the same cost. As a result of this experience we will not be going back there.
Tasty food with Beautiful view of the sea and good service.
Food deserve 2 starts only. Taco is soggy, mussels are a bit cold when I arrived the table, and the salmon is dry. The only thing good was the oyster. OK wine selection, we got a local white wine and not disappoint. A bit pricy tho. The sun was right in our eyes during sun set and there's no blinds that can shade away the sun. Service is attentive, so 1 start added for that.

The staff were kind and their service was excellent. The location is beautiful, second floor whiterock with a pristine view of the water. I ended up ordering a seafood chowder, coconut lime cod and creme brulee. The seafood chowder was a white base with ample salmon and other seafood but the taste fell relatively flat. The cod sounded better than it was, the quinoa was delicious but it would be nice if it came with a lime wedge to really hold up to the name. The cod itself was very simple in taste and had a delicate light texture. The creme brulee was excellent, the custard was silky and strongly vanilla flavored. Presentation was well done all around. Overall a great location with excellent service is the definite pro of the boathouse.
Our server was not professional. Their portioning is small Their deep fried prawns were under cooked. Decided to never go back and give all our service to THE WAG down the road. Which has great service , awesome food and a fitting low lit atmosphere, perfect for a romantic dinner. Don’t go to this boat house . Waste of $$$.
I had taken my mother there to celebrate Mother’s Day on May 15, 2018. I have always been happy with the location, food and service. Beautiful day, unfortunately, we were told the top deck was not open yet. We decided to stay and eat on the ground floor on the patio. We had to move as all the tables did not have umbrellas for a bit of coverage and there was construction down the road. We moved inside, the room smelt like carpet soaked booze, our table was sticky and one of the waiters left a dirty red stained cloth on our table. Also, there was literally no toilet paper in the ladies washroom (thank goodness I have a long reach and could reach the paper towel) I ordered the seafood chop salad. The salmon was dry and the prawns had no flavour. For $20+ dollars it was not worth it. For the atmosphere I feel the drinks were pricey. All in all not impressed and was disappointed. On a side note, our waitress was nice and pleasant.
Whiterock Boathouse is one of my favorites. Delicious food and deserts. Lobster tail dinner was yummy. Relaxing seaside view and warm service. Roof top patio is amazing as watching sunset.
I didn't want to give a bad review but I can't go without saying my experience This used to be me and my mom's favorite restaurant and our experience was horrifying. For one I noticed the portioning of food has got way smaller, drinks are pretty pricey. My mom she ordered a seafood plate that was 40 dollars plus tax and they split it into 2 bowls which my mom did not ask for the waitress to do that. She then rudely said to my mom" oh would you like it put in one bowl all laughily and snarky. It was supposed to be put on a platter plate so that my mom and bf could share it together .There was 2 shrimp. Smallest piece fish I've ever seen and small scallop and the smallest amount of rice for 2 people. Very unimpressed. The waitress also only came to our table 1 time for drinks, I had to get up and go to the bar to order more, as I seen her go to several tables around us many many times and she did not check on us it was very rude. We were also not able to make a reservation ahead of time because whoever on the phone said because if it rains. It made absolutely no sense when the forecast was heatwave sun all week every day. This was a very honest review and I am worried about going here again. We absolutely love whiterock and this was very dissapointing.
Was a very good experience. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was great. I went with the lobster prawn ravioli, while my wife had the miso crusted halibut and neither of us had any complaints
Dinner
I had very special dinner plans that were planned at this restaurant, with my daughter long ago. I am a writer and made with my daughter a specific list to celebrate the future release of my book. Sadly, she passed away before we could have our celebration meal here. Therefore, I made the heartfelt decision to go by myself for lunch at this location. I was greeted by the most friendliest hosts, Colby who truly shines at what he does! I needed assistance with finding my Vaccination code on my phone and Colby was patient and kind! His follow thru customer service was exceptional, as was his teamwork with other staff. Such a wonderful experience in being waited on. The other star of this establishment, is Koel. Her approach to every table she served, was outstanding! She truly cares about and loves her job, as it shows in her exceptional customer service skills! The right amount of patience and understanding of her tables needs, was impressive to watch. Her kindness at the end of my meal, made this meal, one that was cherished and appreciated! There was one other lady helping serve and she too, contributed to the overall fantastic dining experience. Well done everyone!
Happy hour is the best hour! Oysters are great! Oysters not your thing? Well they have lots of other seafood! Beach views are awesome
We had amazing meals and drinks. The service is the only reason for 4 stars and not 5. It took a long while to get any and they were not that busy. The location and patio is amazing. The drink selection is great! The oysters were absolutely delicious and fresh!! We would go back for sure, we would just make sure we are not in any rush to eat.
We just left The Boathouse Restaurant, we had dinner on the 3rd floor very great views. Our service was good. We ordered appetizers and a couple drinks ro start. We're told our Calamari was sold out?? 4:30 in afternoon no problem had popcorn shrimp very good. My wife ordered Ravioli very good. I had the seafood chowder and ceaser salad with chicken. Soup was great salad and chicken very bland. While finishing after 5:00 the couple behind us ordered Calimari got it no problem when asked about miraculously they know have it after happy hour ended. We're told they found some later on ??? Our waitress just shrugged it off and laughed about it. I don't hink we will be back.
Great food, reasonable parking in lot across the street considering its a tourist area ($2 an hour on a Sunday). Server, sarah was not as attentive as I would have liked. I left our empty drink glasses by edge of the table for about 15 mins, she walked by few times and didn't notice. I finally just stopped her and asked for another round. Other than that, great experience and we will be back.
The place to be at in White Rock on a beautiful day or night. One of the best views of the ocean from their rooftop patio. Food is good and service is great. There 2nd floor dining environment and atmosphere is nothing but ????! Also a big thumbs up to our server Chelsea! She was on top of our needs and always refilled what was needed before we even asked. I use to own a restaurant and it’s very hard to find great waitresses. Thanks Chelsea for making our family dining experience a memorable one!
Food was really awesome specially the lobster tail????
Fish and chips terrible. Took 50 mins to get it, asked for it to be split never did it. Not happy. Where is the halibut? And the patio umbrella fell down.
Good Service. Food seemed to be fine for the guests attending. No complaints verbalized.
A 20 minute wait on a Saturday evening, 4 adults and 2 kids. Not bad. Fish and Chips was pretty good. There is a location premium in cocktail prices. Our server Taylor was very nice and efficient. Curbside tables are noisy, but if you are there to watch people and nice cars, it's fine.

If you like burnt table bread that disintegrates into dust and tastes like burnt toast with an overpriced entree than this is the place! For a place associated with The Keg I was incredibly disappointed with the value and quality.
Came here for dinner after a nice day trip to Vancouver. Lovely staff and awesome food.
Perfect taste with decent price and service. We set on a table beside window, witnessed the beautiful sunset. We ll definitely come again.
Great quality food, but extremely overpriced for the portions provided. Service is awesome given the situation, friendly and willing to help.
Had a great time on the patio overlooking the ocean. The server was one of the friendliest, attentive servers I've had in recent memory.
The view is amazing but they stuck us in the back so not quite as good. The wait staff was good though. I had the eggs Benny and was surprised at how little hollandaise sauce was given. I asked for more and they thought it quickly. The fruit salad was served in a smoking hot dish...so the fruit was warm? Not sure if I'll be back
Please dont go there . I order Granville island they gave me Heineken in glass? And the waitress said this is Granville island? Girl i know my beer . Common haven’t expected this from boat house. Hard to see this behaviour in situation where they just open after such big outbreak. Aaahhhh Bad experience. New west location is way better with great customer service.
This is always a great spot in White Rock , steak well cooked , lobster was juicy definitely come back again.

Strawberry watermelon mojitos were awesome the rest of our experience was meh. Calamari was average-overcooked and in little crumbly bits mixed with some decent pieces. My dinner, seafood grill, was cold and had to be redone meaning I ate while everyone was done. Good times. Service was not great. She tried. No manager to be found. I doubt we will be back.
Came here on a beautiful Sunday. Was hoping to catch the last hour of happy hour which their happy hour is on Monday to Friday only. Sat on the rooftop. If u wanted shade u have to sit further back. All the table on the outer edge had no umbrella to cover the sun. The rooftop decor was plain. Even the bottom floor level patio doesn't have umbrellas to cover the sun.Food was okay.
Came here Monday afternoon for lunch. The service was pleasant and attentive, and the food was quite good. The Calamari was cooked right, if perhaps not quite as crisp as it could have been. Overall a good experience.
Great food, service, and oanoramic views.
We went as a family of 4 for two birthdays to celebrate. The swordfish was quite chewy but the rest of our proteins were cooked well. Calamari appetizer was a hit along with the peach bellinis. Service was better in the past, server seemed tired and forced but all in all it was a good night.
We had a reservation but had to wait 15 min for the hostess to get her computer working... it took three employees. We then decided to go downstairs to eat our dinner since there was no wait. It was not exactly what I imagined Every empty table was dirty with dishes . Very noisy, felt like a cafeteria atmosphere. I ordered 2 applies, a couple glasses of wine and 2 beers, steak and lobster. It took a long time to get our meals. I had to ask for napkins, cutlery, butter for my lobster. Very unorganized . For the price of my bill at the end of the evening, which was close to $200, I was not a happy customer. Not sure if I will give it another try...
Spectacular Christmas lunch. The seafood appetiser platter was outstanding. Service was exceptional. Great views. You can't go wrong choosing The Boathouse.
Recently we were @ the White Rock Boat House for a Birthday celebration. We have frequented the Boat House for special occasions, and given gift certificates to others to also enjoy the Boat House over many years... BUT sorry no more.... This Boat House has really gone "down hill". Not only is the restaurant badly in need of up-dating, it now has a grubby appearance. We were VERY disappointed in our meal. Firstly the Caesar salads were SO small, hardly room to get your fork in the mini dish. The previously delicious hot-out-of-the-oven "loaves" of bread were now replaced with 3 small hard store-bought rolls. The Halibut was "okay", but not the beautiful "crusting" on it (just some panko crumbs). The rice was poor, and not the delicious "sauce". The vegetables were pathetic; 2 small strips of carrot, & 2 small strips of zucchini. The dessert, chocolate mud pie, was melting on the serving plate... poor. Service was very mediocre, as if our waitress "couldn't care less". We realized why the restaurant was only 1/4 full on a beautiful summer evening. We will not be keen to go back....
The food here is so hit and miss - more misses of late, unfortunately. Our last visit, we tried the calamari, which was okay, and the steak and crab legs, which was terrible. The steak was incredibly bland and the crab legs were extremely difficult to eat as they were rubbery and I could barely crack them open. Once opened, there was barely any meat so it was hardly worth the effort. As Landrys members, we like that we get preferred seating but the positives kind of stop there.
Such a wonderful spot by the ocean. Has very delicious crab and seafood.
We ordered Christmas dinner for our family as we are moving and not in the mood to cook. Dinner for 6. I made extra mashed potatoes as I was worried there wouldn’t be enough. Not necessarily. The turkey, stuffing,, garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, assorted vegetables and the Pumpkin pie where delicious! Plenty of cranberry sauce. And whipping cream. And we had leftovers. Thank you for a Christmas meal that everyone loved.
Xmas dinner (turkey) was disappointing. There was no panache to the meal. The plates had small portions of gravy and it quite some time to find our waitress to get any extra. Tiny portion of cranberry sauce, but it was boring.
Was good, view was amazing
Great place. Crispy coconut shrimp tastes really good. They follow all safety protocols for COVID. Highly recommend.
The ambience was awesome especially that we were seated by the window. The view is the best! My kids liked their chicken strips and fries. I ordered their 3 course meal (lobster bisque, grilled chicken with shrimp curry and mocha ice cream for dessert). I was just disappointed with the main dish as the taste was not the best for it's price. The worst part was the rice was undercooked. My husband also got the 3 course meal except that he ordered the seafood platter as his main. It was okay but could have been way better. We already informed the server that we wanted the creme brulee for dessert but when it was time to have our desserts, we were told that the last creme brulee was already given to another customer. Overall, we were still happy with how the server accommodated us and she was very pleasing. It's just that I felt that we didn't really get the value for our money when it came to the food.
Absolutely terrible service for overpriced food. We were served by Sabrina today and i've never had worse service. From sitting down to her first coming to the table to even bring water was 15 minutes. This is all while 4 of her coworkers were standing a few feet away from us chatting about their personal lives. The food is also pretty subpar for the price. They most likely only survive here because of the rooftop patio.
The view is spectacular. The service, although sweet, was well below standard. The food wasn't anything inspired or even tasty...its like they have just given up

I had the 7 oz striploin Med Rare and it was delicious! Forget The Keg! These guys make their steak right! We asked the waiter for his opinion on the sides. He recommended the coconut popcorn shrimp and he did Not steer us wrong! Every aspect of my dish and my wife's had a signature taste which popped out from the previous taste. Great view from the restaurant of the sunset and in hotter more crowded days they open up their roof patio to really make it a nice dining experience. Loved it! Had food here before and they are consistently great!
Sadly, the worst experience. Used to be an amazing restaurant for many many years..... Food was horrible, small portions and waaaaay over priced for the quality and level of service!!! Will never go back and will caution potential diners to stay far and clear. Trust me, go elsewhere!
This was a birthday lunch. The server was very good. Unfortunately the food was not. We had the fish tacos and calamari. Neither were tasty, the lemon and lime slices were tiny and dried out, and the fries weren't crisp. We were one of about 3 tables in the outdoor area on a nice day. Could it be the food? We hadn't been for a few years and it certainly was better before. Four hours later and we both feel yucky.
They accommodating us to a spot inside when we were on the patio and it got a a bit too chilly. Our server was so personable and made our experience so much better. Amazing view of the sunset, perfect for date night!
Expensive below average food and expensive beverages. The best part of the Boathouse is the view. There is no better patio to sit at in the summer.
First of: - Great service - Super polite ladies - Excellet and delicious food - Clean and neat - Ladies are helpfull and knowledgeable - Will come back again!!! For sure - Please help ladies wear light summery colours, first, it will help our ladies that work in the fort front, second, everyone wears black for funerals (very depressed times) and the last but not the least, colourful dressing activates the neurons in the breain causing it to open the appetite and makes us happy hence, prone to come back!!! Great job!!! Highly recommended.
Excelent food, amazing drink someting crona. Price is right for food and served with ploite princesses more beautiful than hollywood, view is another plus. Very clean. Real canadian food. I love it. It id really test of heaven. If you have money , best place to spend.
Went on a Friday night for my birthday and I believe our server was still in training which was odd as she quite awkward, I would normally expect a well-trained server on a weekend night. I had the penne rustica which was very over cooked and I even paid the extra $8 to add chicken but there was hardly any chicken in it, felt very ripped off. Still a nice restaurant but the quality has greatly decreased.
Very friendly staff (Tara was our waitress) and amazing views from the rooftop. However, the food definitely does not meet the standard of a restaruant with this price range ($$$). Food options are that of an average restaurant although still delicious. The restaurant has an efficient system during peak hours where they text you when a table is ready for you, which gives you a chance to walk the pier. We stopped during a very busy time and we still got a table within 30-40 minutes. The food was also very quick to come especially with how busy they were.
Awful ????. Went to their holiday brunch. Rubbery eggs, undercooked potatoes and rock hard muffins. Tasted like my $25 meal had been cooked overnight and I was eating microwaved leftovers.
Great food and great service! My order came with regular fries and I had ordered the sweet potato fries. Matt, our server, told me when he delivered our food that the sweet potato fries were on their way and that they would not be put on the bill. It is pricey, but worth it for a great meal with a magnificent atmosphere.
The food post pandemic is about the same. Disappointed with the Cajun fish tacos. Ive had wayyy better. Fish was over cooked and a teaspoon of guac on each... they kept forgetting to give us cutlery... calamari sat there for 15 minutes... we went for the view on the patio...
We went on a Saturday, place had good covid controls but service was borderline terrible - not enough servers per section so service was super slow. Not only that, the mojito and the daily drink special that I ordered were garbage. Bartender made basically sugary soda water as a mojito. On the plus side, the food was good. If you're gonna spend over $100 on dinner, there are other places with equally good food but better experience.
It's pretty nice here. The lineups are long during the summer, and you can end up waiting 45+ minutes, but the view is great.one of the best patios in White Rock. That said, the price is a little hard to swallow. Everything seems to have a "we've got a great view" markup, and it's been that way for years. The food is alright, nothing revolutionary. Really, the view and the atmosphere are what bring people here.
Service was good and the view is amazing from the top level patio. I can only imagine it being very hard to grab a spot there but its worth the wait. The food delicious, I'd recommend the coconut butterfly shrimp and the seafood mix grill.
There's a trendy bar on the street that's THE place to hang out, a nice dining room on the middle floor, and on the roof, you'll find the best patio along the beach. We've enjoyed excellent service and great food each time, and the best part is the spectacular view on every floor.
Lunch
Order was not made correctly. They even asked how to boil eggs(soft/medium/hard) then did opposite of what was asked. Rotten and wilted salad. How can this food make it beyond the "pass" is a mystery. Even the menu was substandard as it had dried food stuck all over it. This is the worst of all Boathouse restaurants and we are surprised it's still operating. We live a short walk away and have tried this place a few times. It consistently fails ... we are done wasting our money here. Way over priced for the extremely poor quality. Stay away from this boathouse! If even a simple task like cleaning off the menu can't be done, imagine how much effort is put into delivering quality edibles!
amanda was our waitress and she was a 20/10! she went above and beyond serving our large birthday table and was so sweet. amazing service!
November 8th. Seated within 3 minutes of getting there. Waited for about 15 minutes without anyone coming by to take orders or anything. Management eventually came by to apologize and gave us a free appetizer (6piece coconut shrimp) which was a nice gesture. Food came out at a decent pace but the the portions were relatively small. Table across from us had a bad experience as well and we were vocal about it. Unfortunately will not be returning anytime soon.
Not many choices . $60 for 3 pieces of crab with 1/2 cup of rice, over price for over cooked flavorless 7 oz steak ... no refills on any drinks... just an over all bad experience for a $300 bill... why? Because I had 3 teens? Because we were at the ocean wearing summer wear? Really bad first visit, cost way to much for what we had.
Can get a bit busy here so prepare to wait. Though I enjoyed my food, it wasn’t anything too special. I found the food a bit too overpriced? Some say it’s bland but, I didn’t get that experience. However, you do get an amazing view from the rooftop patio. I guess that made up for it. That I really liked.. beautiful views! Overall, it was a nice experience and the servers were really sweet.
Customer service from manager & assistant manager is lacking. I made reservations for wheelchair and window access ( which I have done a couple months before) . When I arrived they did not have a window seat and the assistant manager told me they don’t reserve tables. I asked to speak to the manager and she did nothing to correct the situation. I am a local and will never go back to this restaurant. I also will not bring my clients, friends & family to this restaurant . My party and I enjoyed a wonderful meal and experience at another restaurant that evening.
The server was great and good conversation when we were talking. The atmosphere is great fantastic view of the ocean and even at night the pier. But, yes the but, the food could have been cooked a bit better. The lamb was not super tender and the beans were a bit tough.
Our server Amanda was so lovely, allowed for us to have an amazing evening celebrating graduating :) I had the fish tacos which were delightful.
Wonderful experience, we were a group of 8 people, asked to be seated on the roof roof patio and were given a nice spot overlooking the white rock pier. Food was fresh and delicious, the complimentary bread was freshly out of the oven, drinks were reasonably priced and service was top notch. Overall a good experience from the boat house chain of restuarants.

Came here to celebrate our birthdays. The waiter was amazing. Food was out of this world. Just really had such a memorable time and the view was stunning.
Food here is awesome. Every time I come here it never dissapoints. The only thing I could possibly complain about would be the longer than normal wait times. But, when the food comes out as good as it does here, it's totally understandable. Staff are also courteous and helpful, wonderful atmosphere.
I’d give it a 4 because the dinner was good, enjoyed the fish and chips as well as tried the crab dip as a starter with the person I came with - both of which were great and worth the pricing. Boathouse Bellini was delicious as well, however I felt my visit was somewhat underwhelming and didn’t match up to a rating of 4 as I hoped to have a beautiful view of sun down only to notice the large floor to ceiling windows were unkempt and dirty... restaurant was clean itself but the windows were very unkempt. not just in regards to photo purposes but it really took away from the gorgeous view in such a prime location as we were there at sunset. Inside decorating feels somewhat outdated as well because it’s like the exact same set up as it was when I last went when I was super young ... nearly 11 years ago. Other wise wait staff were fantastic and checked in regularly and were kind, food was good, had a great date but definitely feel the atmosphere could use a revamp or atleast be kept up with especially for those who may enjoy looking out the window. :)
Went for Valentines day. We love the boat house in general, been to several different locations. The fixed price menu was fairly priced for the day but the food was a little below what we normally expect. My wifes crab seemed like it had been cooked hours ago and held for serving. The same was true for my prime rib. The service was great as usual and we enjoyed our visit.
Food was the highlight. We had a party of eight, my friends salmon was a little overdone but they brought her a new one. We did have a nice time as the area is nice and the food overall gray. Service was lacking, our waitress was no where to be found for most of the night. No refills on water or cocktails, we would have stayed longer but paid right after dinner since the service was slow.
I visited this Boathouse Restaurant today morning for brunch. The waitresses were friendly and professional. The interior and exterior are nice and clean. We were seated by the window side which featured large viewing windows with a clear view of the ocean. That was quite nice! We ordered the Westcoast Clam Chowder, Westcoast Seafood Pasta, and the Shrimp and Chorizo Risotto dish. The food was excellent and well seasoned. The meat, and seafood within the dish shined with great tender flavors in the delicious creamy sauces. In the Risotto, they added some deliciously fresh green peppers which added a nice bite. The Clam Chowder is a classic and was delicious with the right amount to be shared alongside our own Entreès. Enjoyed our brunches here very much. Highly recommended.
Nice view on the patio but ridiculous prices. The three of ordered two dishes for happy hour, 1 beer and 1 wine. After happy hour, fish/ chips and salad off main menu with another wine and a drink. I never expected a $130 bill for very mediocre food and small portions. We visit the beach often in the summer but won’t be back. There are other restaurants with great views. Also, service is fine once you can get it but that’s not an easy feat.
First of all: thanks to the team of waitresses on the rooftop patio who went above and beyond to find us a table more in the shade. Great service! About the food: very good, but definitely a bit pricey. I guess that you pay for the great view ;) That rooftop is definitely a great choice for oysters and cocktails in a sunny Summer afternoon!
Great steak, excellent ambience, friendly service. Thank you.
My spouse and I had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant last evening (Friday May 29). After making reservations and requesting the rooftop deck, we were told that it was not open yet. However, when we arrived early for our dinner reservation, it was obvious that we were given inaccurate information. Nonetheless, we decided to wait ( approximately a 30-35 minute wait). This was acceptable, but what we did not find acceptable was the fact that social distancing in the waiting area and on the staircase was not being adhered to, nor monitored. It was most concerning and quite frankly, dangerous during this time of the pandemic. May I suggest that you place marked areas of 6 ft apart where guests can wait in a safe manner. On a positive note, we had a fantastic server, Jay, who mentioned it was his first night at The Boathouse, White Rock. He was very friendly, most attentive, and went out of his way to make our dining experience, an excellent one. He is an asset to your establishment, and we will request him again! He definitely deserves recognition!! Thank you, Jay!! Our food was delicious, and the evening certainly enjoyed!
Amazing view and even better food. I had a Crab and Lobster stuffed Ravioli, which was very tasty. Service is fast and attentive. It's a great place for a romantic dinner or celebration of any kind. Highly recommend.
For A Fish and Chip kinda place its get five stars. Rachel was awesome, she went above and beyond. I ordered the seafood grill, The salmon was so fresh and tasty, The crab stuffed prawns were second to none and the view topped it off. They took covid very seriously but still made everyone comfortable as possible. Thanks Rachel
The best ???? food, service, everything
Portions are small but the food tastes great. The view is wonderful from the patio and the service is quick!
Very disappointed. Sent back drink because it must have been mixed wrong lacked flavor, missed ingredients. Had a beer instead. Salad was good but Haddock main was obviously frozen years ago. Always a gamble ordering halibut on West coast but this is a restaurant that specializes in seafood. Service was poor. Inattentive, and slow. Really hard to get their attention. So disappointed.
They got us in last minute, table by the window, took our order by phone and by the time we got our drink order our food was up piping hot, and amazing. Yummy. Got there at quarter to ten they close at 10. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Nobody rolled their eyes everybody was smiling and helpful.
From the moment Colby politely took our reservations on the phone and guided my accessibility abled Sis to her seat, we knew it was going to be a great experience! Then sweetie Cole gave us excellent attentive and delightful service. Our meal from the wine, lobster bisque, oysters, ahi-tuna tacos (on amazing wonton-style shells) and crab stuffed prawns were incredibly delicious! And of course can’t forget the view of White Rock pier, beach, Marine Drive and Mount Baker!! Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great food! Beautiful scenery! Incredibly friendly waitstaff!! Thanks Koel for an amazing experience!! We will be back!
Went out for dinner with a friend and waited for over an hour for a table Was given a table in the middle on the top but when asked to be moved to the side was refused. The food was okay and the service was terrible and the food was very expensive for the quality and service Spent almost $200.00 and will never go there again
Went to the Boathouse with my sister and had a wonderful experience. The waitress was friendly, efficient, courteous and bent over backwards to make sure we got the time to look over the menu and took our order promptly. Our wine order was a little slow but that is okay. Food was amazing. Had the coconut shrimp and yam fries..Yummm...so good. I think her name is Tracey..Thank you for being so courteous.
We went to the patio of this restaurant at 7:10pm for dinner. The waitress seated us (4 people) in the table for 6 in the middle of the patio. But when we came to the table, we were even not sitting yet, then we saw lots of customers sitting on the tables (for 4 people) near to window leaving, I came to the reception & ask to switch us to those tables, but the receptionist said she had to ask her manager for it! After 10min waiting, she came to us & said it was not possible because those tables were reserved for other customers. But it was a lie! Because during our stay (almost 1h30) those tables (at least 3) were left vacant. They prefer leaving the tables unoccupied than making their customers happy. Beside, at first we planned to dinner here, but it took them almost 1h to prepare this starter (seafood platter), so we decided not to order more. The service was too slow & the price was so high. Except a nice view, everything else is below average! Not reccomanded!
Great date experience with the better half. Great food & great service. Rooftop patio was a hit, with a splendid view of the ocean. Thanks Boathouse????
The best part was the view. Portion was small. Service is not what it used to be. Waited half an hour for a dessert. Unlikely we will return.
The atmosphere and ambiance is very upscale and their menu delicious. It's an expensive restaurant and ran us about $150 for the two of us with one glass of wine and three courses. Unfortunately our view was marred by the smoke from the forest fires no fault of the restaurant's. Would love to go back to enjoy the view with our dinner.
Went for a birthday dinner with 7 other people. 8 of us did NOT enjoy the meal. My wife (on crutches) tripped and fell on a broken paving stone at the entry before even getting inside the door. Cold food, both undercooked AND overcooked. $55 for crab that was obviously not premium crab. At least the mashed potatoes were OK. This location has gone downhill over the past few years, there are better options in the area if you value quality of food over the view.
The Boathouse in White Rock has been around as long as I can remember. They serve west coast style seafood and bistro fare, overlooking Semiahmoo Bay. If it's a sunny day and you have time, try to get a table on the rooftop, it's worth the wait. The food at The Boathouse is between good and great, though we do find that it is somewhat inconsistent and prices are higher than most of the other restaurants on the strip (likely because of the fantastic views). We eat here a few times a year just for the views, though both the food menu and drinks are enjoyable if your budget allows.
Very good place food and and service
I really loved my steak, I had it made medium and it was probably the most flavorful tender steak I’ve ever had. Well worth the price and it was ready pretty quickly as well which was nice considering I was only in British Columbia for a few hours and needed a quick bite before heading back across the border. Easily a recommendation from me based on time, taste, and the friendliness of the staff.
My $15 old fashioned was trash…no ice in it lol. My penne came out with an inch of water in the bottom and the noodles were falling apart….they forgot to mention on the menu that the penne was gluten free on the menu. Sent the penne back and got a blackened chicken sandwich and it was cold hahahah sent it back and got the hell out. Don’t waste your time here.
Located right on the busy corner of Marine Drive, this boathouse location will stun you with its beautiful ocean view on the 2nd floor or a rooftop patio on the 3rd floor that will take your breath away. Wide varieties of choices when it comes to food. I decided to get Oysters as a starter and was extremely disappointed. It was extremely small, no bigger than the size of the first knuckle of your thumb. However, the main, sriracha honey salmon was extremely tasty, accompanied by mushroom rice and tons of veggies. Veggies were a bit over cooked. I also requested lobster tail with my dinner and was quite sad to see 2 dinky sized lobster tails provided BUT, it was cooked to perfection and when it came with butter, I couldn’t resist but to chow down on those first. I would definitely give this location another shot. Server was attentive and always had a smile on her face.
5stars for the view. Food is okay and expensive. Reservation required
Awesome staff. Delicious food every time. Great happy hour. Best patio during lockdown. Will return!
We were on the rooftop deck - food was good, service was good not great and the guy running the hosting podium was less than honest about the seating process with multiple guests. They ask for your phone number when you check in, but then tell you they don't use it - then why do they need it??
Beautiful views, reasonably fast service, and awesome coconut shrimps and yam fries. I loved our drinks too (apple cooler and The bottom up corona, not on the happy hour menu). Their aioli is super nice and in general I found their sauces are all very tasty. Calamari pieces were a little too tiny though. Regardless, they have one of the nicest rooftop dining locations. They do offer dining room experience too now that the covid restrictions are lifted. Just beware that you have to go up three flights of stairs—not an issue really unless you have a stroller. They are very close to parking, including the new covered parking structure Although you probably shouldn’t mind walking around in White Rock anyways. We were asked if we wanted sun or shade; we said shade but then they said they don’t have full shade, which was a bit strange but fine. When we were seated however, the waitstaff could simply move the umbrella (which was for our table only anyways) two inches so it covers the whole table, which is what we did after 5 minutes anyways. And no, it wasn’t a fire code violation or anything, it was simply a freestanding umbrella.
Food was great, service was good, but they ran out of Lobster and Steak on a Friday night which is what we went for.
Great food. Was on the rooftop and able to see the ocean!
Service and food was great! I highly recommend the Cororita drink and the bacon cheddar burger! Will definitely go back again!
Food was great, but the prices for lunch were absurd. I understand it being pricey because of the location and the type of food offered. But... jeez, definitely makes me not want to come back. I can't even imagine their dinner prices holy cow!
Very efficient with Covid procedures which is really appreciated. For lunch I ordered the Coconut Shrimp that came with fries & coleslaw. Food was well prepared, and our server was personable, helpful & attentive to our needs. My next comment doesn't affect my overall rating b/c it is likely more relevant to the Covid situation: Menu was quite limited and prices high.
It was our 26 anniversary so we wanted to go someplace really nice. With restrictions it was patio seating which was really nice but a little cold. I was really expecting wow on the taste but was a little let down. It was good but no wow factor. We were basically the last ones to leave at 8:05 so maybe they were in a rush to go home. We had 2 of the most expensive dishes on the menu next to lobster tail. My wife's lobster ravioli was better then my seafood pasta. I will go back but less expectations
Dinner
I completely forgot to take photos because the food looked so incredible I had to dig in. (I did steal my bf's bisque photo tho so there's that) I cut into my rare 7oz steak and it was perfection. Perfectly mooing, melt in your mouth incredible steak. The potatoes were delightful and the veg cooked perfectly. My bf got the lobster bisque to start and also had a steak that was perfect. The wait staff were delightful, our server had been at the restaurant almost as long as my parents have been married and was absolutely incredible. Couldn't have had anyone better. 10/10 would
I usually Love The boathouse but our experience on Friday night was terrible other than the server. The server was awesome. The food was nasty. Sesame coated ahi tuna was one of the worst dishes I've had but to be fair it used to be better and my son does a WAYYY better presentation of that dish. My friend's steak was sent back twice, once for being way too rare when she'd ordered medium only to have the second presented as a totally overdone charcoal lump. I expected way better of them.
Good service time, I’m not much of a seafood person, but my top dishes are the crab and lobster ravioli when I’m feeling like something rich, and the coconut pacific cod when I’m craving a bit more delicacy. The crème brûlée is a very pleasant conclusion.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner. We made a reservation and asked for a seat by the window. When we got there the restaurant was not very busy but a bunch of us waited a long time to be seated. Finally someone came and brought us to a table in the corner with a view of the wall. We said that we had asked for a window table and although there were several unoccupied window tables they did not want to move us. When I asked for the manager she came over and was not very friendly. She reluctantly agreed to move us. After that the service was not great, we waited longer than you would expect to order and a long time for drinks. Our food took a while and was not great. I have had amazing experiences with the boathouse in other locations. New West is awesome. I will not go back to White Rock location. Parking situation sucks as well.
Great location right down on the water pretty much. Amazing views of the White rock pier and water. Food is very good, I had the crab and lobster ravioli and my wife had the poke bowl. I only gave it 4 stars because the menu selection of seafood dishes is very small. Could use a 2021 menu update.
My fiance and I were celebrating our 3rd Anniversary and after walking up and down the street decided on coming here. We found out that the rooftop is a first come first serve basis and we were blessed enough to get a table. We were seated and the server who looked after us was utterly lovely. must try it
Food was delicious and our server Adrienne was awesome :)
Beautiful ambience, and great customer service! Food was tasty but small portion sizes. Not surprising though, you pay for the ambience/high-class restaurant.
Hard to find, did not have a very good experience once I got inside. Update: Tried it again after enjoying the beach. Apparently they have three floors! My family and I chose the bottom floor. Despite having three waitresses available, we did not get much service and had to go out of our way to update our orders and ask for napkins. No, they were not busy, just chatting with each other. The food was decent but service is still a problem.
Right before our very eyes, after waiting for more than an hour, they let another party of 5 in when we knew we were next in line!!!!! We were a group of 5 who had driven all the way from Richmond, had coffee in Fort Langley then decided to have dinner in White Rock. We didn't want to cause any trouble. Lucky for that young lady on the desk. But I thought I needed to write this. I am still "nice" to put in one star......I should put in a zero!!!! Not contented with this one yet, I will be calling the Manager today. What an awful experience it was yesterday evening, Sunday, September 6!
We walked up thinking there would be at least an hour wait for the rooftop patio. We were seated within 5 minutes. Important to consider we went between the lunch and dinner rush on a Saturday. Felt very safe while social distancing from other tables. Did not feel rushed to leave and all staff wore masks.
Did the New Year special. Felt the quality, service, choice and quantity didn't warrant the price of $79 for the set menu. It took some time to get served too. Caesar salad was like a side portion. My 12 ounce striploin tasted good, though it was a cooked a little less than I ordered. I ordered fire grilled prawns too, but that was forgotten so I had to ask for it - for $10 I got four bland prawns. The cheesecake tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge too long. I had ordered a rum and coke in a tall glass, as I was eventually going to drive, but it came in a short glass and filled to the brim with ice. I ordered a regular coke after, and instead of at least offering to fill it, our server took it and appeared to want us to leave quickly. I was disappointed - my wife enjoyed her crab cakes; her prime rib was ordered medium but was well done; and her creme brulee was meh.
Beautiful place, lovely waitress, unfortunately my steak was inedible but they were quick to give me a reimbursement on my check for a portion of my meal.
Meal type
Amazing restaurant and great service. I will definitely be back!
Be patient, servers have to tackle 3 flights stairs. Sunsets amazing. Food predictable ( but remember food is cooked on ground and only upstairs patio open).
Food was excellent. No issues. Problem was service. 1) Person on phone asked me if we are celebrating a special occasion. I said yes - anniversary. No mention was made of this by the server. 2) We had to wait 40 min for our entree. 3) Tea cup was stained brown all along bottom. Not washed.
Ate on the roof top deck. While a little pricey the food was excellent as was the service and the ambience. Great place to go with friends, family or that special someone.
Presentation of food excellent food was not today fresh lobster tail flat not puffy could taste cooking oil in food should only be able to taste food not cooking oil out of 5 star only two star
Nice atmosphere, great, friendly and attentive service. Drinks were fantastic. Had the Honey lemonade soo good... Food was.. Meh.. Had the chicken sandwich and it's was suuuuper salty. The red onion on it was cut thicker than the actual chicken. I was not satisfied with the food but it's probably my fault for ordering chicken at a seafood restaurant ???? Anyways, had a good time. If seafood is your thing, check them out
Eaten here many times. 2/3 times it’s good. Prices seem to be going up. $18.99 for two soggy crab cakes tonight, and a misleading $10 add-on to an entree for a 3 course meal seemed like a good deal, but that they don’t mention includes ‘mini’ salad and dessert. Dinner took over two hours, through no fault of our own - waited ages for entrees, dessert and refills. Won’t be back for awhile
Made a reservation on a wet Thursday evening and found that the restaurant was minimally occupied. Took the chance on a tenderloin and my partner had the rack of ribs. The ribs arrived cold and when asked, we informed the staff. The manager came to the table and after we were blamed for not saying something earlier, in effect making their poor preparation our fault, we received a discount on the bill. Neither the manager or our waiter asked about the tenderloin and being the shy retiring type I said nothing. I can buy a better steak from Costco and cook it up myself, at way less cost. If you're going to charge $40 for a steak and it's a tiny steak and not much else, better make it a good one, eh.
Great place for Happy Hour gatherings as they have decently priced oysters that are very fresh and good cocktails for adults! Not sure about the actual meals, as when we went we just had snacks during happy hour. The reason why they get a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 is because the service was a little slow and the server did not tell us that a certain type of oyster costed more than the other. Some suggestions I have for them are for the servers to be more informative and for the people shucking the oysters to do it a bit faster.
This Boathouse location is simply the best! The staff were more than attentive, cocktails were awesome and the food was amazing. I loved it!
This place is not what it used to be. I have enjoyed the lovely ambiance of the seaside rooftop patio for many years. My dining experience last Saturday left me deeply disappointed with the decline in customer service and cleanliness. We waited over an hour to be seated, which we learned a $25 payment ("Landry's Club Membership") would get people ahead of all other customers on the waitlist bumping those already waiting down the list. We waited over 25 minutes for our waters to be refilled and over 10 minutes to get the bill after we requested it. We wanted to order drinks and dessert but our server never returned to the table to check in on us beyond her walking briefly behind us calling "how's the meal" and walking away before we had a chance to properly respond. Upon calmly giving feedback to our server that we were disappointed in our dining experience, she told us she knows she's a "great server" multiple times and that our poor experience was a result of her having other "problematic tables" which she gestured to other customers. She behaved in a way that left us feeling awkward and uncomfortable. To top off our experience, as we were leaving we discovered a very messy women's washroom: the coat hook from the bathroom door was on the floor along with dozens of pieces of toilet paper and paper towel, 2 stalls had plumbing issues, and there were other miscellaneous items including tags from clothing on the ground. The washroom looked as if it had not been serviced in hours, if not all day. The Boathouse White Rock is no longer a place we would recommend.
The food here is definitely not worthy of anything above 3 stars, considering the cost. The crab dip tasted off, and lacked any indication of actual crab. Also ordered the chilli chicken. This was tossed in too much sauce and canned pineapple. Great view, friendly service, but the food is a major downer considering the price.
A really great dining experience! My girlfriend and I went here for date night last week and we're very happy with the entire night. Best scallops I've ever tasted, she really enjoyed her oysters, and we had a great view of the ocean while stuffing our faces. The only negative I can contribute is due to the timing of my pan seared scallops order, she could tell her seafood plate was sitting under the warmer for a bit too long.
Don't mind it but honestly I can have a better experience and food at the Keg for half the price. My crab legs cost $65 and we're cold by the time I got them. Server couldn't find our food. Not her fault but it was super crowded and I think someone else got our food first. Drinks were good though.
Nothing special here. Was able to sit on the patio, but food was nothing to rave about. New York strip looked like any Walmart cut of meat, under seasoned and just not worth the cost. Mashed potatoes were very bland and vegetables under cooked. Clam chowder was watery, again under seasoned. Oysters were bland. Crab legs could be bought at $10/lb. and taste the same. Lobster tail...sent back because it wasn't cooked. End piece was still cold, disgusting. Go for a drink and enjoy the sun but avoid the food if you can. Better places to eat for the price and quality. Edit 8/4/2020 - The cooks and owners of the Boathouse Restaurant really need to have dinner at the Keg Restaurant and find out what a truly great steak looks and tastes like. Absolutely amazing flavor and melt in your mouth steak at the Keg.
Went there for a friend's birthday dinner. We ordered the 9 oz sirloin with mushrooms and peppercorn sauce along with lobster ravioli. We also had calamari and oysters as starters. Overall, the experience was not bad. The calamari was not good at all very bland and the tzatziki dip was even worse. It was also surprising how many things that the restaurant was out of. Two people at my table ordered the old fashioned and got two different glasses. They even don't have enough glass for the customer to have a consistent experience. They were completely out of the crab dip aged margarita and a few entrees that people from our table wanted to order.
2 visits in 2 weeks. First time extremely slow. Second time.. where do I begin? Forgot/lost my reservation, so the host went to check for tables, came back and said “guess it is your lucky day”. Well, so far, not really. He found a table, but tucked away from everything. Bad service again. Slow. Waitress punched in the wrong entree. Never came back to give water. Food brought out with no pepper. They remade the wrong item. At the end of the main course, the waitress brought the bill. With the desserts on it that she completely forgot to bring to the table. It was pretty bad. Not sure why I don’t give it a 1 star. At least no hair in the food.
The boathouse has great ambiance. You walk in and theres a piano player setting the mood right away. It’s best to make a reservation so theres no hassle with seating. One drawback was they allow smoking anywhere in the outside seating area, and if you dont like tobacco with your meal it could be a little overwhelming. They tried to accommodate us elsewhere and we appreciated that, but we ended up just enduring the smoke for the view. The staff very warm, receptive and helpful. I ordered the rosemary Lamb, which was pretty decent. I might have gone with the chicken curry though. My date had the curry with crab in it and she loved it. The flavor was great and generous with the crab meat. We also had a delicious appetizer. It was goat cheese fig honey walnut and a wafer which was a great combo. After, we had dessert and Ive got to recommend the white chocolate mango ice cream. Our hotel was up the street a bit and they were so nice to provide their hotel van to drop us off. Such a great establishment. Would definitely recommend for a nice dinner in kata.
Crab crab crab and I liked the sirloin better than the Keg.
Terrible Food - Bad Quality Food - We ordered The Sea Food Grill- The dish arrived - BEWARE the Salmon is FARMED - we asked the staff if the Salmon was Wild or Farmed & they told us it was Farmed !!! disgusting unhealthy Prices are High for location Not food Quality. If you want a good location beside the sea this place is Ok BUT if you want food Quality stay away. I reckon our Sea Food Grill was frozen shrimp & Farmed Salmon which is super bad for You...shame on this place Not informing customers of FARMED UNHEALTHY SALMON .
On a recent trip to this place, we found the service and quality of food to have dropped significantly. The service was painfully slow to a point where multiple members of the staff were repeatedly asking us if we had ordered or not. It took the server over 15 minutes to take our drink order in the beginning. Furthermore, the food was less than tasteful to say the least. It seemed as if our server was doing us a favour by correcting our meals which were wrong and cold. Would never come back to this place again.
Nice atmosphere, great food and service. Although the rooftop was closed they allowed my daughter to go upstairs and see the view. Nice touch indeed. Parking here can be horrendous, especially during the summer. You will need that beer once you find a spot ????
Delicious food, good sized portions, amazing hospitality and a view to die for from the window tables, this chain (especially this restaurant) ticks all the boxes for an ideal place for dates or special occasions.
I was extremely disappointed with my Sunday brunch buffet. The food was bland ( shrimp, clams, deserts) over cooked ( the roast was well done ) . Stale ( bread . cookies) . And you would think with this price you could get a decent cup of coffee. Nope an extra $4. To a grand total of $ 56 dollars...per person . It hurt leaving a tip. First and last time I go there . The manager offer me an appetizer for my next visit if I emailed him . No thanks
I came here twice for their fish and chips. The service was mediocre and inconsistent. The first time I liked it. I was seated on the second floor and the service from the waiter was quick. The fish and chips was average but still good. But the second time, I sat near the back of the first floor and was often ignored. The kitchen forgot to give me tartar sauce and ketchup for my fish and chips. I asked the waitress for them but she never came back with it. I had to ask another waitress for the sauces and waited another 15min before she finally came back with the ketchup and forgot the tartar sauce. It took another tedious round of calling for the waitress and waiting before I could finally enjoy my food (it was kind of cold by then).
The view is great, the food not so much. I ordered the calamari and the poke bowl. Calamari came out cold and the poke bowl the rice was hard and barely any dressing. I was not pleased.
Wow, this place had a fantastic feel with a beautiful rooftop view. But once you sit down all that wonderful feeling start going downhill. The service is terrible and the food has no flavor. Truly a one star restaurant and that one star is for the view. DO NOT EAT HERE ...
My friends and I were very excited to try this establishment. When we got there they were very accommodating to seat us on the rooftop patio next to the glass. We ordered multiple cocktails from their list and all were very well done. For food we ordered 12 oysters to start. Along with ahi tuna tacos and clam chowder. For our main course we ordered two Pacific King Crab meals, 2 fish and chips. We waited about 15 minutes and were then informed that there were no oysters left. Which was disappointing. We then were informed another 15 minutes later that they only had one order of Pacific King Crab. We decided to share that and also an order of the Lobster and Crab Ravioli. The crab and Ravioli came out. Our crab looked as those it had been boiled for many hours. It was extremely small. The color was something of an gray-beige. And when we tasted it there was no taste, it was extemely over cooked. As well it was suppose to come with potatoes and it came with a rice, which was not discussed. The execution of this dish was poor , the quality of cooking was beyond substandard, and the lack of proper sides was disappointing. Our Lobster and Crab raviloi was semi-cold, as well we found many many pieces shell withing the ravioli itself. Needless to say picking crab shell from our mouths was not an apatizing accompaniment to the meal. However, the crab meals were taken care of. And our server was a very sweet individual ! Unfortunately I dont think we will be going back. Please also watch out for the birds at the very end of the meal my friends hada very fecal encounter with a seagull. Not the restraunts fault tho.
A fine meal if steak and lobster. A very caring and helpful server named. Jay. Good food. Good evening. it may take me years before I'm used to a server wearing a mask so I cannot read his lips. Putting up with masked servers is what I will call the Covidian compromise!
Had a fantastic experience at the Boathouse in White Rock. Sat on their beautiful rooftop patio with views of the ocean. We shared three appetizers that were good portions and tasted well. Our server, Mary-Ann, was very friendly and attentive.
Good 30-40 minute wait for our food. Meal was acceptable but nothing special. Server didn't check on us and had to get up and walk around asking other waitresses to please look for her so I could pay the bill. I used to frequent here many years ago (15-20 years ago) and it was a totally different experience.
over priced food, chicken was dry, and this area is get old and run down. the street is only one way and there is no one out here any more except police pulling over people in nice cars and motorcycles.the old whining residents are complaining about the noise, because every one is working from home because of covid. the residents choose to live here and knew about how loud it can get in the summer, are now crying about the noise...I hope all you business are hurting because of covid, cause you just lost my business...
Great food, service and the roof top was amazing. Saw a whale spout and breach and as the sun set lights came on in the trees along the boardwalk.
Service sucked like always but good food and enjoyed sitting up on the 3rd deck in the fresh air.
We had a window seat and the views were amazing. The food and service was also top notch.
Rooftop dining offers best views in town!? I suspect so. Good service. Food is standard pub grub priced for the view but that's not unusual at the beach. Perfect spot to chill, I'll be back.
Love the roof top patio. Our server was really on point. Attentive and respectful. Will be back for sure!
Took my son and his family there August 12. My daughter-in-law had wanted to go since they'd moved from Ontario to Surrey a year ago. Huge disappointment. I had coconut cod with veggies on quinoa. Exceptionally bland, fish in particular (and I'm sure it was less than 3 ounces). Veggies slightly better. Adding salad and dessert for $14 brought total to $45. Salad was severely underdressed. Mocha pie was quite good though. Son had a burger and fries. Fries were very good, burger bun was toasted and looked good but disintegrated in his hand. Burger itself was the driest piece of meat I've ever seen. Daughter-in-law ordered seafood dish, I don't remember what it was called. More than 20 minutes after ordering waitress informed her that the sauce had onions in it. When ordering she'd mentioned she had an onion allergy. The only other thing that appealed to her was a mixed seafood appetizer plate. She didn't want to order it as it was for 3 or 4 people and cost $40 but eventually went with it. When it arrived one of the apps had mango ONION chutney on it. Waitress took it away and came back with new plate 20 minutes later. Each item overcooked. Grandson had chicken strips and fries, they were both good ($14). Recap; dessert was good, fries were good, chicken strips decent. View was nice. Place was about half full, 2 waitresses for 6 tables (none of more than 4) on our floor and service was friendly but only a small notch above useless.
The food is great I'm not going to complain view is nice and the staff were ok except our server who was a mature guy in upstairs . Everything was going well I asked for the bill and paid in cash bill was around 140. I had some wine in me so when calculating the bill I miscalculated and asked for a diffrent amount of change when he came back he had such bad attitude and dropped the rest of the cash on the table. I was originally gonna tip him 20% but miscalculated when asking for the change back. I felt very disrespected specially after spending 140$ for some appies and red wine ...
We recently dined with friends on the patio this past week as we had not dined at Boathouse in ages. We waited 40min for our food to arrive. All of us ordered steaks (2 medium, 1 medium rare) and they ALL came out well done. We pointed this out to our server (we cut into the middle of our steaks to show), who apologized and offered to get us new steaks (or comp our meal). As it was already getting late (8:40pm) and we were starving and after some thought we spoke to the manager and ultimately decided to leave and have our meals comped. No point waiting another who-knows-how-long (they weren't that busy), and being uncertain how our steaks would turn out the 2nd time. 2 of 3 meals came with stuffed prawn and coconut shrimp. Both were equally disappointing to say the least -the pieces were very small. My friend who ordered the stuffed prawn was shocked at how small the prawns were. She stated that the pieces were much larger before and part of my coconut shrimp were overly done to a crisp. Thank god we did not order these as separate sides for $17! My friend who ordered the seafood chowder to start noted much of it was potatoes and hardly any seafood. Boathouse is not the same as it used to be. Overcooked steaks, poor service (long wait for food), extremely bland/gluey mashed potatoes that I wouldn't even feed to my dog, and bland side veggies. We will never be returning to Boathouse. We left, and went to Cactus Club South Surrey, where we got there just in time for their Happy Hour and their steaks were cooked as requested - they are always consistent with their food and quality and regret not having gone there in the first place!
View is spectacular but the food here is okay. I was disappointed that they ran out of items and the weekend hadn't even begun.
Anytime I'm in White Rock I enjoy going to the Boathouse to eat. The service was great, the hostess had a good sense of humor. We were seated at a window table which added to the day with my friend. The server was friendly and accommodating. She was good about offering hot water refills for my tea, which I so appreciated! I had the 3 egg Benny which was one shrimp, one smoked salmon and one traditional ham with pan fried diced potatoes. It was so good, I'd definitely order it again! It was nice to come in from the cold, be seated where you can enjoy the ocean view and catch up with a friend over lunch or dinner or breakfast. Always such a pleasure to come here and eat, highly recommend it.
the foods were so delicious. Thank you to Cathy, Debbie and the male host. We had a great time at the restaurant ???? ????
Unfortunate experience here, a bunch of very unhappy guests. Family waited over an hour for main meals, most meals were cold and missing important condiments such as melted butter and tartar sauce. Alcoholic bevs took 10-15 minutes to arrive. Manager discounted $10 off of a $300 bill, unimpressed with this. The Boathouse needs to hire sufficient staff (kitchen esp) to decrease waiting times and mistakes. Won’t be going here again!
The food was, good so was the place it's self.
Always going to get a great meal at the oathouse. Great views in the Summer and really friendly staff.
Great food and friendly service! Excellent spot to visit for brunch. Need to experience the beautiful oceanside view in person!
This place is a go to for anyone visiting White Rock and checking out the pier. They've got a great staff in and out of the kitchen, great seating with a stunning view on any given day and great food. I recommend the Mango Mojito and coconut shrimp!
Had a great dinner. Lots of nice options for anytime of the day. The Salmon is a great option and the service is good as well. The Calamari is on the salty side, apparently the team and kitchen is not aware of how much extra salt not to add after the frying… Maybe more people need to voice that.
Sometimes is the chef, others lets said that is close to the beach and always will be full. For me was busy and food experience and service below average.
We have been going here for many years. The servers generally are very good. The view amazing, especially in summer and the cold of winter. We have had great meals, and we have had "okay" meals. I have so say that if it's not top notch, the servers ensure that the mistake is taken care of. My birthday is coming up, and i am really hoping this is where we are going!
Great views from up top on their fabulous rooftop patio. Everything was fine with our meal. The service was great. Our server was very funny & engaging. The food was decent but just kind of 'meh' & expensive for what it was. The evening was great but the menu could use some changes to enhance the Boathouse experience.
Its not what it used to be in terms of quality and value of food and drinks. I ordered the blackened tilapia with shrimp...it was not even close to being black at all...I was expecting a nice blackened seasoning and a char on the fish...plus it lacked flavor. The calamari and wings were mediocre as well. Maybe the food at the downstairs portion is not as great as the upstairs. But for now, we won't be coming back anytime soon.
It was the worst experience ever. Called them a day before to confirm late night appointment at patio but when we got there we were told ‘patio not available and u have 10 minutes to order everything including drinks which is not possible when go out on dinner. We were rushed. Never coming back to this place again. Be aware to book dinner reservations at this place before ruining ur date night.
Food is not worth the price anymore. Patio was kinda empty when I arrived with my two daughters, we waited over an hour for our food and disappointed in the taste once it finally arrived. Drinks took to long to come and to be refilled. The boat house in New Westminster is so much better, the food is fresh and tasty.
Meal type
Great service, not great food. Calamari was bland, fish was dry and fries were old and soggy
Loveeee all the fresh seafood. Great service and lovely view. Can't wait to come here again.
Serving staff were reasonably pleasant and efficient. My salmon, however, was dry and flavorless on the outside, and somehow undercooked on the inside - I'm not sure how this was even accomplished. We had hoped to have a quiet and romantic evening, but instead we were seated near a table with a toddler who blasted screams every two or three minutes. Happy anniversary, Hun! Parking was also difficult and confusing.
Nice dinner for an evening out. We were a group of five, two of whom had visited previously. We were seated quickly with reservations. Drinks and appetizers arrived quickly as well. Dinners included sriracha salmon, coconut cod, stuffed prawns, seafood grill, and pacific crab legs.
It was really pleasant. The food was delicious. Considering the pandemic, they had less waiters and hence the service was a bit slow but I thoroughly enjoy the food and time I spent there.
Very beautiful, food was really good ...we had miso halibut and crab and lobster stuff ravoli....just wish they did not serve water in plastic cups
Great evening at the Boathouse with a nice window seat to watch the waves. Amanda was our server and she was really pleasant. Coconut shrimp for an appetizer....very good...Our main course of lobster and crab ravioli- excellent, and Coconut Cod .... food was really good. To celebrate our anniversary, they comped us a delicious slice of Mocha ice cream cake followed by a good cup of Americana coffee.....All in all, a perfect dining experience.
Fish and chips were delicious!
Service was sparse, and food was expensive and just average. The view over the water was very nice though, especially over sundown. It was nice that they called you when your table was ready rather than some restaurants that use those beeper things as it allowed you to go wherever you wanted within a 10 minute timeframe to get back to the restaurant after your table became available.
The rooftop patio has a beautiful view, and the service was great. However, the food was not up to the standard that you would expect from the price range. The seafood pasta was overcooked and the portion sizes appear to have gotten a fair amount smaller since my last visit. The Bellini lacked flavor, but the mango mojito was quite good and you get to keep the glass as a bonus. If it's your first time in White Rock and you want to enjoy I nice dinner with a beautiful view, the boathouse is a decent choice, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
Steak with crab filled prawns was absolutely delicious. The prawns were so good that we almost fought over them. Fish tacos were super fresh and tasty but I have no clue why they came with fries (not that I'm complaining, more fries are any day welcome!) . The fish and chips were bland and were oily. must try it
Meal type
Some of the dishes were very good, but my pasta was overcooked. Still, very thankful that they were open on a very snowy day and, overall, the experience was good.
The server never paid attention to either me or my boyfriend until we browsed the drink menu. After that she jumped on us because she thought we were ordering alcohol. We didn't and you can see it on her face she was disappointed we didn't. After we ordered everything she never once did check on us. You could tell she was a lot more friendlier to customers who bought alcohol. Me and my boyfriend found no fault in the food. It was tasty and delicious. When we were done we waited 20 minutes to pay. Tip: if you want slightly better service buy alcohol. The food was great but service was terrible at best. You'd think that such a nice place would have more personable serving staff. A shame because it's a nice looking restaurant with great food.
The food and actual service is great should be rated five star. However whoever wants to make reservations please please make sure you got your confirmation number otherwise there will be at lease one and half hour wait
Today was extremely hot with sun razing out. I was seated at the patio but the sun was just way too glaring so I kindly asked if we are allowed to move seats because there were many that seemed to be empty and away from the sun but they refused to do so. Due to this I now have a painful sun burn on my arms and shoulder. If a customer asks to move seats because the sun is too glaring, they really should if other seats are clearly available.
One of my favorite places of all time. Lunch on the beach feels ng fancy.
Food, service and view was excellent as usual
Waitress was nice.. husband orders the ribs and was told mashed potatoes can with them but another lady brought the food out and said only fries. The crab was dry and the ribs were not good. The noodle bowl was very saucy. I wouldn't order again. The chowder was very good. Everything was quite quick. A beautiful view of the beach
Three of us in our family just had dinner at The Boathouse and are totally disappointed with customer service tonight by their manager Colby. We ordered our meals and enjoyed our great meals. However at the tail end our meals my husband pulled out something from his mouth and upon close inspection realized it was a hair. We called the waitress over and she was appalled and apologetic. She took my husband's meal back to the kitchen and the manager arrived to our table. He also apologized and told us that he took the meal off of our bill but proceeded to say that he couldn't understand why or how that hair was there because the kitchen staff all had short hair and they all wore hats. (Does that even matter!?!? The point is we found hair in our meal!!!) My husband instantly told him to take care of it and do better than just take the meal off as he became irrate at the manager's tone. Instead of leaving it at the apology Colby proceeded to insinuate that my husband found the hair late in the meal and questioned why we didn't find it earlier in the beginning of the meal. Outraged we asked him to do what he needs to do and that we will never dine here again. He went away and didn't bother with us knowing how upset we were. We will be writing a letter of complaint to the Boathose head office well. We have gone to many high end restaurants and have never gotten such bad attitude and bad service! The waitress was great and we felt bad for her having to work for a boss who doesn't know how to talk to customers. We will never go back there again!
Had a good time. Service and ambiance was quite nice. A little pricy for fish and chips at $24.00 with so many seafood restaurants in the area! Celebrated a birthday here and would come back again.
Good food, bit pricy. Service was great and the food was really good. We had the Cajun fish tacos, calamari and seafood ravioli. Everything was great, especially the ravioli. Our server was very attentive and did a great job. Only complaint was that the food was slightly overpriced, but overall still a nice place for a night out.
We went Sunday May 23, 2021 around 5:30 pm, a party of 4. We were very disappointed in the service we received and quality of some of the food items we ordered. First off our server was very rude, visibly and audibly short tempered with us, we were not obnoxious, just asking simple questions about our food and how cluttered the table was. Her attitude really put a damper on the meal, she was consistent with the attitude throughout our dinner service. Secondly our meal, The crab legs were very dry and frankly tasted old- ( freezer burn ) at the price point we paid this was a total shock and we feel more than ripped off. The chicken Caesar salad, had no dressing? There was shaved cheese and croutons but it’s like they forgot the dressing…. Very dry! Our drinks, 2 of us ordered Caesar’s and they were good, so we reordered 2 more, they came but we’re smaller drinks than our initial drinks…. But when the bill came they were priced the same as the larger ones. We have tried to support our local restaurant during the pandemic and have enjoyed excellent food quality and service at all the other restaurants along the whiterock strip, sadly The BoatHouse Restaurant was woefully lacking. We will not be returning
Absolutely terrible food. Ordered the seafood on rice bowl. The salmon is not wild but farmed therefore full of disease and who knows what else. The shrimp was bland and looked like it came out of a frozen package and microwaved. And they had the nerve to charge $40 for this dish. After I ate it I felt ill. I ate it because I was hungry. Never again. Steer clear of this place!
Food was very good our waitress did a great job
Brunch
Visited about a week ago on a sunny Sunday with friends. Didn't eat but sat on the downstairs patio in the sun. Beautiful view of Marine Drive people watching and watching the cruisers go by. Great friendly attentive service. Had a CoronaRita-Delicious and a healthy dose of tequila in it. Will be back!
Got seated on the top floor quickly. Given menus and then waited for 20 minutes. No one served us. Watched other tables get helped who had been seated after. Notified servers and no one cared. We walked out. Way to go Boathouse - it wasn't even that busy
Whether it is the dining room( reservations allowed), or the rooftop deck( no reservations), the views are spectacular and the food is sumptuous. On the rooftop it can be hot even with the umbrellas and sunny so wear your shades, and the seagulls are always eyeing your fries. Overall just a great place for drinks and God food as you watch the beach and the sea.
We had dinner for father's day. We sat downstairs it was great the food and service. Steak was under cooked it was blue. Manager replaced the steak asap. Our waitress Aspen is the best. If you go there sit in her section she is knowledgeable and we had allergies to some foods and everything turned out great.
My husband wanted to surprise me and bring me on a romantic date and chose the boathouse since it had a great menu and was supposed to be good. We went around 7:30pm and it didn't seem to busy, however our food took a while to arrive. The drink I ordered was 10$ and came in the smallest glass and tasted absolutely aweful.. Our waiter was very nice and brought us a different one, which tasted just as bad. My order was wrong, which was not such a big deal because the waiter overheard me saying wild maple salmon and thought I said wild sockeye samon. My husband got his food, and my food only came once he was completely finished his food. So we each ate alone. I must say the food was tasty but the amount was very small for the price. The amount food is not worth the price. We will not be coming back.
I had a great time! Nice roof patio! Lovely view, plenty of sunshine, a perfect combination and reason to enjoy a drink or two ! Tried the Mango Mojito! Delish! Do you know that you get to keep the glass your drink is poured in? Yes! So you end up with a souvenir! Food was also good, excellent customer service. Try it on the next sunny day! ????
We have an annual New Year kick-off for our company and for the second time made use of this fantastic venue. Our server on Saturday, Feb 8, 2020 was David and he took great care of us and the food was great. We always request a round table and staff was able to make it happen. Thank you Boathouse White Rock. !!! Dave Mayhew President Maximum Lock& Security Ltd.
Food was great. Server that served us felt a little lazy and the vibe that I felt was did not want to be here type of way
Sweet views of the ocean...that's about it. The food is sub par, at best. It's sad cuz I live walking distance and have only been twice in three years. I just enjoyed the rooftop on this fine day, drinks were okay, sun and ocean views spectacular and the food was once again way below average. Much better options on the strip!
Based on two visits, today being the most recent for lunch, I can only say the best thing about this place is the view - which is why we gave it a second try. Service was average. Food is overpriced. No lunch menu. Normally we don't pay so much for lunch, but as we were visiting lovely White Rock, we thought it would be ok to treat ourselves. My husband's seafood pasta was pretty good. However, my $40 seafood meal was a stingy portion and bland. I did mention it to the server who asked if the chef could recook it, but I declined, asking just for some salt and pepper. The overhead must be very high due to the large size of this restaurant, but when you pass this cost onto your customers, please at least ensure the food is good. When we return to White Rock later this year, we will not be eating at The Boathouse.
A little pricey but well worth it. The food and view is amazing. One of the few places where I enjoy the caesar salad. The pacific fish and chips is perfect and amazing (no soggy bits of crust etc) and the lobster/crab ravioli when you can get it is stunning. Sucks that there is no parking, but the parking fee is worth it.
I haven't been to their rooftop patio in some time, but went again recently and it is such an amazing location! Though it's not on the menu anymore, they made me their Salmon & Chips, and it was incredible. Looking forward to my next trip back to the Boathouse in White Rock!
We were a big group so service was slow but good, and food took a while but good flavour. Confusion when we tried to pay seperate bills. Could have been better organized with bills when taking orders rather than struggling later. Pricey menu with not too many choices. Overall a good dinner
I have been waiting to give a review on the boathouse restaurant at white rock. Very unfriendly staffs. Because I have been to the one at new Westminster, I know how the food I ordered before tasted. So on my birthday I told my husband I will love to go to boathouse restaurant but a different location for the view. The appetizers was oily (no well fried) and the main dish was horrible.. the waitress asked if everything was okay and I said no that I couldn't taste the coconut in the sauce and she took my plate to make the meal ok. I said not to worry since I have started eating from it. But she insisted. She brought the food back and guess what, she just added more rice to my old food plate and added more the sauce which tasted the same. There was no smiling waiter/waitress in this place. Didn't want to spoil my birthday because the kids where excited. She gave me a piece of cake with candles on the house for my birthday which was nice but I will Never go there again. Oh I forgot to add that we stood at the welcome area for 5mins and when someone finally showed up,she said it's not time for her shift.
Always great atmosphere, the rooftop patio is a great place to socialize & take in the view. Very professional & polite staff. Our server Michelle was very pleasant. The food is always good & nicely presented. A must when on the strip in White Rock
My family was visiting from Ontario this past August for my son's wedding. I wanted my parents, brother and girlfriend to see White Rock and the pier. On Aug. 22nd my brother and girlfriend wanted to have some great seafood. Food average and the service was pathetic. Took 45 minutes just order ...even just get drinks, and food took another 40 minutes. Even the bill was 20+ minutes just to get! Staff very impersonal. Awful experience. Would never recommend this restaurant.
My favorite spot to take my wife when I want a memorable experience. The view of the water on the second floor is beautiful in the White Rock location. The food is very flavorful and delicious! The wine list is extensive and excellent! We always enjoy ourselves there. I highly recommend it!
Worst service. I took my husband out for a birthday dinner. Was presented with two waitresses. Between the two not one of them came to check how the food was tasting, I had to flag a waitresses to grab the bill and boxes to pack up my food, that took 15 minz. The steak was over seasoned and cold and the rest of the food was completely bland. All in all not impressed at all.
Just like other reviews have mentioned, Calamari was such a disappointment. It's exactly like chewing plastic. And the portion was small in happy hours. The premiere oyster taste ok but it's not as buffed and juicy. Basically will not go back again.
What started as a great idea quickly devolved into a disappointing evening where we just felt unwanted. From the greeting at the front to the service at the table my wife and I just felt as though we were a complete bother. We were sat at a table that was unable to allreciate the view, covid I get that. We were basically ignored by the server who seemed perplexed by our simplistic order (no drinks). Honestly I’m aware that covid is maki things impossible for business like this but honestly for the $100+ dinner ticket, I would have rather just eaten at one of the dozen other places on the street that didn’t make us wait an hour, refuse to move tables and seat us at a table angled away from the view they advertise.
Love the boat house restaurant! We stop here every time we travel to BC. The patio has an amazing view!
Incredible food. I had the crab dip and the salmon from the grill. Both were outstanding. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff.
They shut down 2 floors of dining area and people wonder why they can never get reservations. The food was good, so was the ambiance.
Service
Best roof top. Super birthday celebration. Market fish is delish. Lots of dessert choices too.
I have made it a tradition to go to the boathouse with my husband whenever we are celebrating a special occasion without the kids. The quality of food has seriously declined since I ate here last summer. They used to give free sourdough and butter for each table. They have now started serving rolls, which were quite dense for an appetizer. My favourite appetizer to order is the crab dip. This time it was watery, contained very little cheese and almost no crab (I struggled to find flecks of it, that could have just as easily been red pepper). There weren’t even enough pita chips to eat all of the dip. I complained to the waitress after she asked how it was, and she simply said “sorry”. My Bellini contained almost no alcohol. The red wine was scarce. My husband had coffee with his meal, and it was refilled twice during the 90 minutes we were there. She checked on many of the surrounding tables quite frequently, but rarely came to check on us. I had to grab her attention as she quickly walked past to ask for my husbands cup to be filled. My husband and I each ordered a 7oz steak dinner, and split a lobster tail. We ended up with two small lobster tails that were very overcooked and not even close to the quality we have come to expect from the Boathouse. My steak was also overcooked and cold, as if it sat for quite some time before being served to us. I did receive a free dessert for my birthday. Unfortunately I can get that just about anywhere! Sadly I won’t be returning to the Boathouse for any special occasions again. The quality of food and service is not even close to worth the price tag!
Off night for a usually good restaurant. Mix up with the orders and both dishes arrived stone cold. Took a very long time to resolve. Not the birthday meal I was hoping for.
One of the Best rooftop restaurants around with a fabulous view!!
Fantastic food, service, and friendliness. Kudos to the kitchen for portions that surprised me and were bigger than I expected. Thank you for a memorable dining experience!
I've had some of my favourite meals here. Their rooftop deck is beautiful if you can get a seat. Pricey, but the combination of view + quality is worth it for a special occasion. Make a reservation for a shady rooftop spot if you can.
I was at the Boat house Keg Aug 28th 2021. We were their at 11am for brunch. we went up to the Patio Deck as it was nice out. We were told their was no brunch at that location only in KIts Location. we then ordered drinks and lunch. we ordered Fish Tacos. I am sorry to say I was not impressed. The fish was cold and they were soggy. My friends ordered the same thing. As we were walking out we were told Bruch was served on the lower level. You waitresses should be informed. We did not have a pleasant experience and will not be returning.I give no stars
Really great food and views! My steak was a little overdone but all of the seafood was amazing!
Dine in
Soggy fries, bland starter plate, weak coffee, great staff friendly helpful. But food is no good, great view, they rely on drinks to make it a hit for poeple.
Service
Service
Terrible service. Got ignored by our waiter for an hour before receiving our food. When our food arrived they brought out completely different items from what we had ordered because they "ran out". The replacements they had brought out without consulting us about had items in them that I couldn't eat. When the manager came by to ask how our experience was I told her about the poor service and food we couldn't eat and she went on to defend the waiter. When dealing with the food situation she asked if we were charged for it (which we were) and she walked away as if she was going to take it off our bill. She then returned with a free appy card and left it at that. I ended up paying $100 for food we couldn't eat and terrible service. Would not recommend ever coming here if you care about customer service or accuracy.
We were a group of 6, we had booked through Open Table 1 wk in advance and requested a window seat, which we didn’t get but the restaurant did mention that it was first come first serve. The oysters were delicious, my friend and I both ordered the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna, it came out warm, not hot but we were too hungry to complain. I had ordered a virgin Caesar drink, only to find out it had alcohol in it. The waitress was quick to replace my drink with the correct one and also took the drink off my bill without me asking, which was nice. The floor manager was also attentive and checked up on us a couple of times. Great location, nice view of the beach and plenty of paid parking spaces.
Best Patio Experience on the Whiterock Beach Front. Roof Top, lots of seating and spacing, great drink menu
Good food, very small, disappointing portions on the main courses, our waitress had a bit of a rough start but adjusted. The view was about the best thing about this restaurant... We might give it a second try... The dessert and appy were appropriate portions and I definitely recommend the raspberry/cheesecake dessert... Yum!
Staff doesn't understand reservation instructions went there Fri / June 11th to celebrate a friends birthday. The reservation was made 2 weeks earlier and clearly stated window seat - instead we get the aisle as there were no window seats available. they had 2 weeks to prepare and couldn't get it right. disappointing as part of the bday was to showcase the beauty of the White Rock view from atop. ...they couldn't even put a candle on the dessert to help us mark the occasion. better off at THE KEG or EARLS - this place isn't what it used to be.
Great location, Great views, Great Food. Seafood selection is great and good beer and wine selections
I'll start with the good things: the ambiance is really nice, the music, thank God, is not blasting - so people don't have to yell at each other, and our server was great. However, the food was barely mediocre. They didn't have the lamb, which was unfortunate but there were other options so we went for the mixed grill in their Dine Out Vancouver menu; when we got the food, instead of medium-rare all three steaks were cooked almost too well. The flavor was there but... that was about it. The grilled shrimp was nothing special, the veggies were just really big chunks of almost raw zucchini and carrots, the Cesar salad a miss. Also, more expensive than other similar places with great steaks. I'm sorry, I really tried to like it, but I don't think I would return.
It is a really nice and beautiful restaurant next to the sea. We have ordered surf and turf and it was really good! We only had issues with the sauce that they forgot, but was brought within 8 min. Meat was really nice, juicy and beautifully seared. congratulations for the mashed potatoes. Peppercorns sauce for me was a bit salty but the garlic shallot butter gave a really nice flavour to the dish. Mango mojito was really good and you get a glass as souvenir Overall was amazing and definitely would come back
Service 3 cook 2 needs to practice or learn the difference between medium and well done steaks
Service
Decent food, great Caesar, great oysters.. beautiful view on roof
Was my first time there last night. Food was amazing our waitress was awesome ! Waitress was honest on what should order, turned out to be great. Will definitely be back, sangria was amazing . Didn't wait long for our dinner at all.
Fabulous location, helpful and friendly staff but food quality not up to par with what else is around.
Great staffs and great services. The food is very good. And it came fast. A little bit expensive but worth it. The seafood is a must there.
Service
Lunch with an outstanding view of the White Rock pier is a great start. Exceptional service from the moment we entered. Excellent food. The seafood appetiser platter was a great start. You can't go wrong choosing The Boathouse out of all the eateries along the White Rock strip.
I would rate this location a minus if I could. Host staff were pleasant and seated us right away - patio. Gorgeous night, lovely view. Went downhill from there.... Let's just say don't eat the seafood at this seafood restaurant. One meal was swimming in oil and the waitress watched us pour it off the plate and wisked it away to throw away before we could day anything. We ended up boxing 75% of it up to take home....but too late. 60 mins after eating my niece became violently ill in the parking lot with what we believe to be food poisoning. Interesting since the patrons behind us were arguing with the manager about food quality and poor service and from what we could tell there were all kinds of excuses about why the food was frozen and being reheated. New west will continue to get my business but this location??? That is now entirely in the GM's hands. How they deal with my complaint will determine my next comments and update to this review.
Great service and portions. The price is right.
A gorgeous view... oh and the food's not too bad either ;)
Update: We went back. Big mistake. These places really need to spend more money on their cooks. We had four wait staff look after us, (sometimes all at the table at once) and two girls at the front desk. They were all very nice but the food stunk. I've had better in a food court at the mall. Maybe I'll learn this time. We go to this restaurant on a semi regular basis. Up until now the fish and chips were quite good. Fresh fish, non frozen hand cut fries, etc. Well, now they have moved to a horrible concoction of prepackaged, grocery store frozen something fish and McCaine style frozen imitation mash potato fries. I've had better meals at highway greasy spoons. Won't be going back.
Great staff beautiful views, I didn't have a meal but what was being served to other tables made my mouth water
My wife and I had a great evening at the Boathouse! The Sirloin was cooked perfectly. The food was prepared well and served in a timely Manor. What was most impressive you ask? The view of course! Ocean views never get old, and these don't dissapoint. Highly recommend a stop here during your visit to White Rock!
I was taking my family for a special evening and requested a table by the window. They said could not and would not give me a reason. I arrived and left and many of the tables where not used. Felt disrespected. Will never go back. Hope they go out of buisness
We love Boathouse! It's the quality of the food, not the quantity that won us over!
Good food! Great service! Excellent view!
Excellent customer service and food is was beyond perfect
Always great service and seasonally terrific seafood offerings. Quite pricey, but the views of the bay are fantastic. Also only pay parking along the beach so it gets crazy in the summer
Likely the best "restaurant view" in White Rock. Service has always been courteous and professional (kudos to our Server, MA). Great place for a few drinks and appies on a sunny day.
Amazing food and service. They were super fast with bringing the food out and ok with modding itnif needed. Overall amazing. I will definitely visit again
Food was excellent. Service was incredible. Distanced seating was nice!
My favorite restaurant in White Rock, good food, excellent service.
