This Fish Shop belongs to the category of Seafood restaurant.
I had the Seafood Linguine, it was good but the portion was kind of small for the price tag.
It has that vibe but not worth for that price
Five Is the best fine dining on white rock beach! Lovely staff, incredible food!
Very tasty and beautiful plating. A little pricy. The music is also loud and somewhat obnoxious for a fancier restaurant atmosphere.
Had the best experience here on my travels to white rock when I come back I will be making this my favourite place the staff is so welcoming and made me feel like I was back home in Oakville beautiful patio the food is perfect hats off to this place will be recommending to all my friends who visit white rock
Had a reservation for 6 for dinner. Server was friendly and very helpful, even explained the free shuttle service. Oysters on the half shell were beautiful and the halibut cakes was mostly halibut with very little filler. Service was a little slow for food to arrive. Once it did 1 order fish and chips was cold the other hot. Creole chicken was well presented and taste was right but the chicken was over cooked tough to cut. In a dish like that the chicken should pull apart nicely. Seafood Linguini was good taste wise but not very much seafood. Prices are a little on the high side for the quality of the dishes we ordered. White Rock weekends excellent views but horrid parking, bring your walking shoes and a hat on a sunny day ????
Used to be 5 stars, until the other night. Service has gone WAY down hill! We would go every 6 months for years, not sure I'll ever go back or recommend it again
Service is great, but but but.......Waiting time to get food! It took forever. Menu is poor and totally misunderstandable. Everything is overpriced. The Boathouse is definitely better. We ordered 5 dishes and left that place after 2 hours and still were hungry.
Went here for date night and it was perfect! The food was excellent - some of the freshest oysters we’ve had. The calamari was on point and they even made a non-breaded version for my wife who has a special diet. She had the scallops and I had the lobster and both were beyond our expectations! The waitress and owner were awesome! Highly recommended!
Very nice place. The burger was soo good! Staff is super nice and helpful.
Last night I had the worst service possible, mixed with completely poor food , and a server that wanted to argue about a dish that I refused to eat . A month previous I had absolutely amazing food an service ( surprisingly from the same server ) In July they did not have clam chowder ...due to the heat wave that we had . Instead I ordered lobster bisque ...it was heaven in a bowl, with lovely bits of lobster in it . When they had no crab last night , I figured I would at least be able to enjoy another bowl of the Lobster bisque . Instead I was served an insanely warm bowl filled with some kind of squash soup with absolutely no lobster flavor and no lobster . The waitress wax beyond rude that I was not enjoying the soup that they had " just added to their menu " I ordered fish and chips , but had to remove soggy batter from the fish immediately, and the fries were frozen shoestring fries , disappointed that they cannot even cut fresh fries .. The full lobster dinner that my husband ordered came beyond rubbery , the mashed potatoes that were lovely and garlicky in July, instead came infused with celery and were completely inedible. Sadly this place went from five star yummy, to one star in a matter of only 6 weeks .
Food is amazing!!! Great atmosphere and staff.
Wonderful evening. GF available. They will happily meet your needs. Service and staff were a big part of making our evening great. Inviting decor, engaging ambience.
Great staff. Excellent seafood and portions. Good wine selection and excellent cocktails. All this and a view.
Love this place , the Thai lemon grass mussels are SOOO good. I can't even. The crab cakes are so delicious too. Shout out to Jennan, she's an excellent server !!
Absolutely amazing service! Great food! We got a share plate for 2 with muscles, lobster, shrimp and many other great additions, paired great with a bottle of wine! Super pleased with our experience! Will definitely come again in the future and would suggest this place to anyone who wants some nice seafood! Great ocean view and right across from the pier so great for a little walk after!!
Nice ambience but low quantity food. Taste is good.
Good food. Great crème brûlée. Good view. Right on the busy strip of White Rock oceanfront. Price is more expensive than the Deco would suggest. You may be able to find better deal elsewhere.
Some lobster but the shredded stuff was not lobster, at 32 dollars
Went there when it was raining. But I can imagine how beautiful it is in sunny day sitting in this restaurant and enjoy the good foods.
A nice place with good food and great service. The window seats give you a beautiful view of the beach. Highly recommended!
Great space. Excellent service and hospitality, and the food was Amazing. Their Chef is top notch amazing what he creates. Unbelievable view to top it off!
What a lovely meal we had this afternoon! The sun was shining so we sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the pier. Our server, Scott, really knows his stuff. I ordered the burger and beer special, and my wife took the fish and chips. We shared prawns in white wine sauce. Everything tasted superb, and we look very forward to returning to this restaurant in the near future.
For a seafood place they don't now how to cook octopus
Dine in
If you like incredibly poor service with mediocre expensive food, this is it. It took an hour and 10 minutes to get fish and chips and stew, which were not complete or properly prepared since they'd apparently not submitted our order. Appetizer took 45 minutes, and only came after I asked, which was the same as the main meals, and was undercooked, probably because they rushed it once they realized they'd dropped the ball. Drinks sat empty, and we had to request new ones when a different server walked by after a half hour.. $170 tab for the worst service I've ever had. Don't eat here unless it's free, you have hours to spare, and like utterly horrible service. The view is the best thing about this place, it is good, like every other restaurant on the water in White Rock. No management ever showed their face, and I"d be embarrassed if I was them too. Enjoy fine dining? Don't eat here.
Had a great dinner here on Friday night. Fantastic service by Natasha, delicious food, beautiful view and lovely live music by Larry, it was a great all around! The pricing is definitely on the high side but when you factor how great everything was, it is worth it.
Wow. Connor thank you for the amazing friendly service accompanied by the mouth watering dishes that came out of the FIVE kitchen. The great atmosphere compliments the above mentioned. Your new fan, Angel
The view is amazing and the food is delicious. We couldn't try a lot of things on the menu as we had stuffed ourselves with ice cream already. Had Cesar salad and salmon flatbread . Both were delicious. I may dream about that flaky flatbread topped with pesto and the delicate salmon on top. must try it
For a seafood place they don't now how to cook octopus
Excellent
June 27-2019 Tonight my husband and I took our friends from out of town for dinner. When we arrived the hostess was very friendly. I must say the food was very good, but getting the food to the table was so slow. The noise from the kitchen was unbearable. I thought that this establishment was a upscale restaurant but was more of a raucous bar. Definitely would not be a place that I would recommend or return.
Very good food and super fast service. It was very impressive ! Will definitely be back
Wonderful view, great paella, calamari not consistent, one time it looked amazing, large rings hardly breaded, when I ordered it, small rings, more breading;(
The food was amazing! Highly recommend the lobster ravioli… Service was also spectacular! Wish I could remember our servers name so I could give her a shout out!
Had a wonderful date night with my husband, the owner was so kind and accommodating such a friendly man! Our server was such a nice lady too, very attentive and quick. The food was excellent! My husband had the seafood hot pot, I had the vegetarian linguini and we shared a Cesar salad, very very pleased, we will deffinitly be back soon!
The food and service are great.
I had a pretty good salmon pizza thing. Super expensive though, pretty crowded. Open hair, had a couple of flies around. Nice beach view. Friendly staff.
This is a nice restaurant. Seafood biased but they have stuff for non-pescatarians too. I had their paella - lots of mussels and clams and nicely put together. Not a hint of fishyness. Service is friendly and attentive. One consideration - if you are planning on going with a group, it can be a little cramped.
I have dined here a few times ,Yes it is a little more then other places $, but well worth it . The Staff treats you like family ...
Had dinner there yesterday. Amazing experience. Kim, our server, was fantastic. Food was awesome.
My boyfriend and I have been going here for a while now and this place has consistently had amazing service and quality food!! The atmosphere is very inviting! They have proper covid19 protocols and measurement in place which makes me feel very at ease. The staff wear masks and are always friendly! We always opt to sit in their outdoor area, yes even in the winter! Their outdoor seating has proper heating AND there are blankets on either side of each table for added warmth! This is definitely the place to check out. We always get the Carpaccio and charcuterie which are always fresh and delicious as well as their to die for oysters.
My wife and I went here for the 1st time. We had an oyster fest.....all 24 were amazing haha! We also had the seafood hotpot and the paella! We had too much food but it was all very delicious! We were on the patio and had the million dollar veiw! Service was exceptional! We can't wait to go back!
It's the real deal. Good food, service is professional and attentive. You will pay a 20% premium over the average fish n chip joint on the strip but there is no comparison. Treat yourself!
Absolutely terrible, so disappointed. Made reservations to go for Sunday brunch. Drove way out of the way to go there. Dropped off everyone while I drove around 5 miles to find parking (White Rock, pfft). When I come in and join my party everyone has their drinks, I am never offered once something to drink. We're seated at the only table in the restaurant that is in the dark. Every other light is on in the place except where we're seated. I was looking forward to ordering the lobster benny, I was told they didn't have that, so I asked for a regular benny, was told that wasn't possible. Really? The person taking our order seemed to be the one in charge, whether she is the owner or the manager, she seemed to be the one in charge. She made an excuse for the poor service on being understaffed as someone had slept in or some other excuse. Message for the person in charge, your staffing issues should never be an issue for your guests. Regarding the cook not being able to prepare a regular benny, she just shrugged her shoulders and said there was nothing she could do about it as she walked away. You're in charge, if you can't do anything about anything what the heck are you doing? So I order the burger, not what I wanted but I'm sure I would have been charged regardless if I had ordered nothing. Burger arrived with fries that were obviously from a frozen bag from a grocery store, the burger was dry, tomato slice was the end stump. There wasn't any salt on the fries so I asked for some. They brought over the salt grinder that was obviously from Costco, they had peeled the label off. I wish I hadn't added the salt because my burger tasted like there was a cup of salt in it. So again, after eating my salt-lick of a burger I really had wished they had offered me something to drink. Could not wait to leave so I could get something good. I definitely will never go back and could not recommend it to anyone. AVOID!
By far one of our most memorable dining experiences! We had drinks, calamari, oysters, the lamb feature, basa feature, and cheesecake to go. Flavour and freshness in everything, excellent service too! Will be back for sure
Good calamari and friendly wait staff.
Had a great time on Mother's day. Food was wonderful!
Great place for dinner.
Dinner
Very disappointing. Fish over cooked and way too much salt on everything. highly overpriced . Service was okay. Need more servers so not their fault.
Amazing oysters! Bought 6 for takeout and 20 mins later bought a dozen more!
Thank you for the excellent service, and the atmosphere was amazing and relaxing. I enjoyed my self and the food was amazing. Will be back and is kid friendly.
A few friends of mine ended up at this restaurant as the one down the street gave our reserved table away. It was my friends 34th birthday and we needed a wheelchair accessible table so we waited about 2 hours but im glad we ended up coming here in the end. I had the ribeye steak board and wow it was amazing! I also had a caesar which was also quite good, only thing is that they don't have actual ice cubes and use crushed ice. Only reason for the 4 stars. I would come here again either way as the service was friendly and attentive.
Oysters, fish cakes, lobster, creme brule!!!! You will not be disappointed!
Really great place for seafood (better than boathouse if you ask me). Good service, staff and kitchen very accommodative to our food restrictions. All our dishes were delicious and we had a variety of dishes: rack of lamb, lobster ravioli, seafood hot pot, halibut, pizza, fried calamari....all were really well prepared and yummy. This was our second visit and planning to go again.
Outstanding menu and chef, a true culinary delight. A well curated wine list adds greatly to the dining experience. Staff is superb, can't say enough good things abut FIVE, this was our 3rd time here, and they continue to exceed our expectations Cheers!
Worth the trip. Fantastic food. The staff were friendly and had great recommendations we will come back again
Service
Nice restaurant. Little bit upscale. Very nice seafood. The owner is Lebanese and there are few Lebanese items on the menu. Staff is very nice and helpful.
2021 Update: came back here a third time to spend my parents 33 year anniversary and this restaurant has such amazing service! They brought my parents their delicious crème brûlée dessert on the house with a free appetizer coupon for next time. We had so much fun there; the lobster was amazing as always... it’s so hard to share. 2019 review: Had dinner here for the first time.. seems like a new restaurant! The layout is very beautiful Pinterest like. Love that it is in front of the pier however it’s currently broken.. the menu is average to slightly pricey but everything we had was delicious! The condiments for the oysters were amazing and they give you a lot of options. Oysters were very fresh and smelt good! I know Caesar salad is such an easy dish but they nailed it with the perfect amount of garlic and pepper in the dressing and best party light crunchy croutons! Really enjoyed the ahi tuna with risotto and the seafood fettuccini both such amazing meals! Topped it off with a creme brûlée for dessert just WOW! The dish the creme brûlée was served in a unique bowl perfect to share between two people. I wouldn’t bring kids here but perfect for a date night!
We enjoyed a nearly perfect evening at Five Kitchen & Oyster Bar- we were seated right away- service was friendly and prompt. We were treated to top notch oysters and a couple cocktails. We were also impressed with their safety protocol during these times. Great social distancing and attention to cleanliness. This is a great spot for a date night!
Meal type
The best meal I've every had! This is a place you go for a couple of hours to enjoy the experience - Don't plan on being less than an hour for dinner. It's an open atmosphere with plenty of conversions in the air. Our server, Riley, was perfect - Attentive, but not imposing unnecessarily. For our mains, I had the Creol Chicke; The rest of our group had the Seafood Hot Pot; Half Rack of Lamb; and Mussels in a White Wine Sauce, which the chef made by request - I had one; Amazingly delicious! Pick any of those dishes and you won't be disappointed. The quality of the food is reflected in the prices, but the portions are large and wonderful flavours. For me a $100+ per couple meal is a bit of a treat, this meal was well worth it. All this combined with the view of the ocean from almost every table, what more could you want in a dining experience. We'll be back!
The oysters are amazing! Highly recommended!
Had a great evening for 7 of us last night. Food was excellent, even better than usual, and service was wonderful (thanks as always to Kim) - Gus was about as well, he has a great spot on the go!!
Been here many times, always excellent ????
I have to start by saying the food was very good. Excellent in fact. Service was also top notch, one of the best I've had. The atmosphere is very nice especially when the sun sets, they have tables with dried starfishes and sand dollars lit by a lot of candles giving the place a warm glow. However when I ordered my food (the catch of the day) I had a sizable rock mixed in with my clams and greens. I brought it up with the waitress and she was quite surprised and I shrugged it off. My friend ordered the lamb rack rare but when it came it was done. The food was still very very good but we both were a bit surprised about the rock. Would go again.
I have to praise FIVE for doing everything right. I have been coming to this place for years, and I have always loved how the staff and management make me feel when I come. The owner is such a nice man who is really doing whatever it takes to make it as clean and safe as possible. With Covid, I thought quality would decrease a bit but this place has managed to stay consistent every time we go in, my husband and daughter are obsessed with the food. We always get the home made hummus, creole chicken, the seafood linguine, and the mussels in this place are AMAZING. I have tried the lamb too and steak. Perfection. we haven't been going out much due to Covid, but this is one place that we feel very safe going into. They have clear dividers up, sanitizing station, and temperature testing! I haven't seen temperature testing anywhere else so good on them! Will be back very very soon -B
Slow at times. Forgetful servers, but helpful and prompt when prodded. Cold mussels needed to be changed. Still not sure if they just warmed then up or if we got fresh ones. Sangria was delicious. A bit pricey for what we got.
Amazing food with the ocean view!
Best restaurant of all time! If you like trump and like his ideology of the kiss method (keep it simple, stupid!) Then you are in for a treat. You don't need ostrich talon meat and you don't want creme of beluga caviar. They got food, not fish food. Like Hillary? That's fine, thet welcome all here just I would request a medium medium well steak or your beer to be craft. No one got time for that. Life is short so i suggest you eat here while you still can. ENJOY!
Everything is extremely overpriced. A simple caesar salad with 3 prawns costs 28$, a seafood linguine costs 38$. The menu is very small and most of the actually decent food items cost 35$+. The only thing here actually worth its price is the assorted oysters, yet they are still more expensive than other restaurants. I highly do not suggest anyone to come here with a group of more than 2 people unless you want to be left starving and broke.
Lovely atmosphere for a nice night out. Good for couples or small gatherings. Great food, really great. My wife and I are still talking about it a week later. Lots of seafood but steak and sirloin burgers too. A bit more expensive but absolutely worth it. Service was friendly and professional.
We were greeted the moment we walked in. The host gave us a couple of options of where we could sit. Our server, Kim, was the all smiles the entire time. It was my birthday and she made it very special for me. We never had to wave her down because she regularly checked on us. The food was great.. The wine list could be better.
I was treated to an amazing birthday dinner here a few weeks ago. Perfect spot for the occasion or a casual eat for fellow seafood lovers. Ambience is warm and classy. The patrons are great and helpful. We enjoyed the sauteed calamari and followed it up up with the creole chicken. Undeniably one of the favourites on the menu. Will definitely be coming back for that dish.
Lobster Ravioli was excellent. I had gone expecting a tourist trap on a crowded beach. Instead I was very pleasantly surprised with seriously delicious food. The lobster was a generous quantity and good quality as was the blue cheese. The view was lovely at sunset too.
Exceptional handling of a large party of around 20 (pre booked) with fantastic food and impressive service. Highly recommended
Great food, great service, and a great area by the beach. IT is located across from the Pier.
Decided to try this Restaurant for the First time a couple days ago. Place looks quite nice inside and the menu looked really good. Extremely nice server, though very slow and had to repeat requests to her numerous times before getting answers about the menu. The food was quite pricey on the menu, but I was hoping it was worth it from the reviews I read on here. Ordered the Seafood Fettucini, and Fish and Chips, with soup and a glass of wine to start. After tip the bill was over $90. Pretty steep price for the food. Overall a decent place, but extremely expensive for what you get. Overall would sum it up as Average Food, High Prices, Not the best value for sure. The Boathouse in my opinion is better food, service and value for your money.
Amazing service and great food
Great burgers and skinny fries!
Good food and busy on a Friday night. Reservations suggested! Server was attentive and very helpful.
Our favourite spot to eat, nothing beats this place... honestly, the best linguine I have ever had, and the Thai Lemongrass Mussels, smoked salmon flatbread, & the Creole chicken is SO SO SO GOOD. This place has the best view too, it's the only one of the strip with a non-obstructed view of the water. Highly recommend!!
Food is consistently good, and service is outstanding, manager and chef work together to make sure everybody have a great experience, l have been there many time and pretty sure l will be there soon again!.
Very upscale place, but the prices are worth it; some of the most delicious seafood I've ever had. Service was friendly, too.
Let m start by saying I received an email scolding me for no showing my reservations for lunch yesterday which I DID NOT. We where there early had lunch and left. I was horribly let down by the ambiance which once was very charming but now just tattered looking. The service was fine as was the food but Ridiculously Overpriced! Believe me 5 star prices probably on par with Paris or Monaco where unwarranted. No return business or recommendation here.
Amazing food. Surf & Turf Special. Wow !! We will be back for sure.
Never had any complaints. Very professional restaurant and staff with great food and views.
Had the captains meal, service was nice and friendly and the food was great. It was nothing special but it was cooked close to perfection. Would recommend if you are in the area.
One of the best restaurants to go in white rock . Great athmosfere Heated patio with cozy blankets …
Stopped in for a drink. Only one table taken Inside. 6 tables available. Told that we can't just have a drink and that they are primarily a food place. Sit... Sip.. Stay... We had the opposite experience.
Perfect for a heightened dining experience! Attentive and warm staff, and the view of the ocean is one of the best along Marine. Menu shows expertise and plating is picture perfect -- you can tell there was careful thought put into the balance of the flavors and colours. My 1/2 rack of lamb was cooked perfectly (I had it done medium rare) and was seasoned well. Starch and veggies came together nicely to finish the ensemble. Overall a wonderful experience.
My partner and I came in for lunch and it was great! Staff was lovely. We had the seafood salad, muscle and frites and oysters! Was all very fresh. Cannot wait to come back! Also the view is great of the ocean! Thanks kindly!
Right across the street from the pier and the water. Cool breeze from the ocean. Delicious food, great selection of wine. Kitchen was happy to customize the dishes for our group. Fabulous #thortrips
My mother, son , daughter and I went there on the 8th of August for klunch...never again. After a 30 minute wait for our food it was not worth it's money nor was the service worth any thought of referring this restaurant or to ever come back!!! The burger was alright if you are into preformed meat for 15 bucks, Vera's burger...way way better! Beef dip was not shaved beef it was more like well done pot roast and the dip was pure grease... now the 32 buck lunch steak was ordered rare to medium came to the table medium well said something to "LOGAN GIRL" and she said "no it is not I had asked for it Med" can you believe it!!... beautiful restaurant but that is not good enough now a days
Great atmosphere and good food. Staff were very friendly. Had the seafood broil, and it was delicious. Calamari was perfect, crispy outside, not oily, and tender inside.
The mussels and clams were honestly the best shellfish I’ve had in a long time! The portion was a good size and served in a delicious broth. We also had the calamari which was succulent and tasty. By the time our main course came we were primed, and the fish and chips was every bit as fresh and delicious as our starters. Well worth the destination drive. Will come again.
Great food Great service. Decor is unique in a good way. We will be back.
I had the fresh shucked oyster and live crab and the lady had lobster pasta, amazing!!!! But definitely on the expensive side, but worth everything you pay for. Great service, excellent atmosphere. Would come back.
Pretty good, my wife and I loved it, the kids not so much but what do they know!
Excellent service and dinner was so flavour full !!!! Great drinks
We booked this restaurant for the first time on Open Table. The service was top notch, and the food was fantastic. We will be returning again soon!
We sat by the window overlooking the pier and had a great view. We ordered 6 different dishes, the presentation had a combination of being great and mediocre. The food was absolutely fantastic with so much flavor in every plate. The price was a little above average but the taste and the view make it worth it. Place was very clean but a couple of spots can use some updating, it had a Mediterranean feel. The service was exceptional and fast, the owner of the place Ghassan visited our table and made us feel like regular customers. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return next time.
Wow, what a dining experience. Enjoyed every moment from the fi e dining to the drinks.. Sad to see one of the best dishes disappear. The Pulled Pork Poutine was the main dish that tip the scales and always brought me back to this restaurant.
Great spot for fresh seafood! Oysters were delicious and the atmosphere was very cozy. Would definitely recommend window seating to get the full experience.
Tough sledding for this place and many others over the last year +, had a great time dinning food top shelf and great staff! Thank you
It has a nice spot, especially their patio!!food is good and bit pricey...but the service is great!
Delicious food. Smart well informed staff. High quality ingredients. Accommodating kitchen with special requests. Very prompt service. One of best spots on the White Rock strip. Highly recommended!!
I thought this place was average. There was nothing that stood out as spectacular but nothing bad either. I liked the appetizers better than the main. Calamari and crab cakes were pretty good. Overall this place is aite.
My wife and me have been coming in on our anniversary for the past couple years. Food is always amazing, the owner is friendly and always goes out of his way to accommodate and make it a great evening. As long as both the wife and Five will have me, we will continue going to this amazing restaurant.
Great good and wine... and friendly service
Absolutely amazing food but it is disappointing that they are still using plastic straws.
Took some friends here on Friday for lunch. Great food! Great view! Pleasant server. Would have loved to give them 5 stars, but just had to deduct one as my water never got refilled, even after asking. Not enough to stop me from coming again, but enough make 5 stars unjustifiable. I had the smoked salmon flatbread, others had the seafood linguini, mussels and spinach salad with a chicken add on. Everyone said they really enjoyed their meals. Definitely a go to place when in White Rock.
Friday night out and this restaurant made it fantastic. Everything from the moment we walked in until the last mouthful of dessert was spot on.The oysters the Caesar salad the calimari for appetizers were fantastic. The ginger ahi was incredible, my sister had the lemon grass mussels as did our other family members, they love them.
came here today. Waited for 20 minutes to see another couple walk in and be seated immediately. The man working apologized Snd had us seated. Server was nothing special, a a bit brash even. Calamari was under seasoned, mains were okay but there are better options for $38 an entree and sub par service.
The quality of food has reduced significantly and is worse each time while the prices seem to increase. Will stick with Uli's until the kitchen staff are replaced.
Great service and food was delicious! Nice atmosphere across from the beach.
Visited on Sunday for dinner. Shucked oysters were meaty and fresh. Also, well paired with Lake Breeze and Mission Hill Chardonnay. Smelt very good in kitchen so we ordered what they were cooking - saute'd calamari and garlic prawns. Both of us enjoyed the plates very much. Overall, great experience and highly recommend.
Great service and food! Best place for seafood on the beach!
I was traveling with a work companion and we enjoyed a wonderful seafood dinner here. I ordered the Dungeness crab and when the cute waitress learned I was from southern US, she offered for me to select it myself. I followed her to the back and rolled up my sleeve to catch my dinner from a tank full of crabs. They prepared it perfectly and picked it from the shell for me. Dinner was delicious and the White Rock area is beautiful especially at sunset.
After a long and difficult week at work, my friend and I decided to go for an epic seafood dinner and we chose this restaurant. Everything came out super quick and delicious, the staff were very friendly and accommodating (they helped to extend our table to fit all the dishes we ordered ????) and the environment was cozy. We had a grand time and will be making it a Christmas tradition for many years to come!
Always a great meal and wonderful atmosphere at Five!
Service was outstanding, food all DELICIOUS and can't beat the views!!
Excellent food, excellent service.
Their lobster eggs beny was amazing even for takeout because it has the good pieces of lobster, not just the claw. Would love to dine in if in the area again once Covid is over.
I've had the pleasure of traveling around the world, trying different foods and meeting some unforgettable people. Sadly, Five Restaurant will not be a place where I would ever eat at or go to ever again as it was by far the worst customer service I have ever received. I generally am not one to complain when it comes to food as I love trying new things and appreciate the art that food is although today was different. My Mother in Law is in town from Texas and since it is her first time to Canada we really wanted to impress her during her stay therefore we thought this restaurant would be the perfect place to enjoy some fine dining. To start, there was a minor miscommunication between my Mother in Law and the Waitress when it came to ordering our drinks, being someone who has traveled I've learned the hard way that some things are sometimes not what you think they are going to be especially when you don't know any different. She ordered an Iced Tea, thinking it would be just cold Tea (unsweetened) and they brought her an Iced Tea (loaded with sugar). The waitress took it away and was apologetic but after that my Mother in Law just stuck to water. When it came time to order dinner, I ordered the Creole Chicken which described it as: "Cooked in creole butte, topped with scallops, lobsters, prawns and julienne peppers, served with new potatoes". Nowhere did it say that it would be (spicy) hot, therefore once I took a bite I knew I was going to pay for it later as my body does not process spicy food well so I tend to stay away from it therefore if I knew before I ordered I would have had something else. The vegetables were hard yet bland and the potatoes were dry, the chicken itself wasn't bad although the 2-3 scallops they placed on the side were delicious. Ultimately, I just wasn't enjoying it therefore once the waitress asked how we were enjoying our meals I decided to tell her the truth in the nicest way possible. She said she would do something about it, so she left to go talk to cook to either prepare another dish for me or something else for me as she didn't want me to leave dissatisfied or hungry. I told her that there was no need because I truly did not want to inconvenience or offend anyone; but she was very adamant. Once she came back, she explained that the guy she spoke with said that "it wasn't the food but it was my taste-buds" therefore she couldn't do anything for me. I could not believe I was made to feel like it was me for not liking something, that is not good customer service at least in my eyes. So she handed over the bill and said that she included two appetizer coupons, one for calamari or their cheese bread for when we come back. I guess they were supposed to compensate for the Iced Tea and Creole Chicken. I was absolutely shocked as I have dined at many upscale restaurants, from here to New York to Los Angeles and never have I ever had anyone blame my pallet for their food not being up to par or giving me a coupon for appetizers that they chose for us. I was and still am insulted, therefore I let them keep their coupons for someone else who would come back because I never will.
Reserved a table at Five Kitchen for my wife's birthday on our honeymoon. It was the best supper we have ever had!! The seafood was fresh as can be and the service was unparalleled. Recommend the Seafood linguini and the oysters. A MUST try in White Rock!!
Great service and food. Would recommend the catch of the day because whatever it is, is usually delicious!
Great seafood. Great view. Great service. I would recommend you eat here.
Did not enjoy my $25 soggy flatbread with salty salmon nor the thick sliced chewy carpaccio for $17. Apparently the fish and chips were great. Glad the Raptors won though!
Ok, rack of lamb was tasty but the chops were so small and veggies on the board were way overdone. Service was great.
Best steak on west beach, great appy's and the service was prompt and efficient. Try this spot if you haven't yet, we love it!
Good service and Good food.(when people say good service they usually pertain to it as fast service) This is not fast food. Good service= making sure your order is correct, suggests / describes the dishes, checks up on how satisfied are you with the taste, serves your food warm... Our favorite is the seafood linguine and seafood hot pot, Also their selection of fresh shucked oysters.
Lemongrass Thai Mussels are amazing here. Calamari was good too. Good choice of drinks, nice friendly open atmosphere and million dollar views.
The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. There are wide sweeping windows that look out onto the ocean with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor booths were very cozy. There are candles at each table as well. The servers were all very pleasant. They immediately gave my 4 year old a colouring page and crayons. Food was served promptly and was delicious. I had the fish and chips and my daughter the grilled cheese. Fish and chips were about $22 for a two piece cod but really you are paying for the service and viewing experience. I'd definitely go again. Last point, the mint in the strawberry lemonade was very nice.
Friendly staff , food was sub par and they allowed patrons to bring their dog. ????????
Perfect for a heightened dining experience! Attentive and warm staff, and the view of the ocean is one of the best along Marine. Menu shows expertise and plating is picture perfect -- you can tell there was careful thought put into the …
Excellent food, and atmosphere! Staff is very friendly. If you are seeking seafood, FIVE is the best restaurant in white rock!
Excellent food and great service! Very pricy.
Had a great time there the other night I had a Moscow mule to drink wasn't the best tbh but wasn't bad, the food was delicious, and oysters were good as well a bit pricey compared to some other places I usually go to. Would recommend this place if your willing to spend a bit more.... Great service as well!
Great lunch there. Appetizers and the lunch were all amazing. Location is also great.
Had an amazing meal here, will definitely go back. Could become my favourite restaurant in White Rock
I had fresh oysters and my wife had carpacio for appies, both winners. For our main, she had the Thai curry mussels and I had the fish and chips. Again, both winners. Over all we really enjoyed ourselves and the view is amazing.
Great Atmosphere and food! Liz the server is our favorite!
The restaurant ambience is good, nice painting of mission bay hanging on the whole. We ordered 3 appetizers to share they were ok, the tuna carpaccio and the duck liver patè were covered with rocket salad which gives that strong bitter taste. As a main we had pork belly and scotch fillet, the sides of the mains is quite filling. The apple puree in the pork belly dish doesn't coordinate with each other, the scotch fillet very nice. To finish we ordered affogato with franfelico and cream brulee. Both very yummy. The place has nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We will back again
The easiest 5 stars I've ever given. Super fresh oyster, incredible creole chicken and paella and a nice wine accompaniment. Natasha the server was very friendly and knowledgeable. She recommended the creole chicken and it was amazing! Good bang for your buck as well, I like to eat and was totally stuffed leaving. We will be back! Highly recommended!
Tasty food and excellent service.
Endless ocean views, delicious food, and great service. Try their Rack of Lamb. It was amazing. And the food portions are generous. My Rack of Lamb and my friend's Filet Mignon came with plenty of vegetables including baked carrots, cauliflower, mashed potatoes, etc.
Easily the best restaurant on the beach in White Rock and a personal favourite. High quality food and drinks very well presented, an incredibly breezy & beautiful decor with attention paid to finer details, and a friendly, professional staff. Highly recommended.
The service was not very good. The food was all right. I wouldn’t have chose the restaurant. Nor when I go back the only thing that was enjoyable was the view. they included gratuity even though our service was terrible! I’m not quite sure why I am giving the person who did terrible service on our table of 12 deserves this. Sorry. but why?
We all ordered from the "Taste of White Rock" three-course offering, our choice. Excellent Food. Some of the serving style, didn't match the caliber of food, but is forgivable. As "Five Doors Down" is a fond memory, you're still a Five. Thanks, and we will be back .....
Amazing atmosphere, fresh seafood (live tanks), made to order burgers, friendly wait staff. Oh, and stunning views of the beach from the covered, heated patio. What more could anyone ask for??!?!
Food was so delicious. Yum yum
The food here is fantastic!! Go during the daytime and Liz will take good care of you. Highly recommend the sangria
Ginger ahi tuna.... Fantastic dish would definitely try this restaurant again!! Great service as well!!
Very nice restaurant on White Rock waterfront with patio seating in the front. The Seafood was fresh and tasty. Great place to enjoy an afternoon lunch or dinner. Service was good and efficient.
The service is always great and the food is delicious! Highly recommend the vegetarian linguine and bellini's
Amazing restaurant by the beach in White Rock. This our 2nd visit and every single dish we tried has been so delicious. The daily special - halibut we had was probably the very best halibut dish I’ve ever had. Their staffs are super friendly and know really well about their food. I can’t wait to go back.
Food was really good. Everything was delicious. A little pricey though.
We ordered the paella and it was ok overall. The paella came with clams, shrimp, chicken and chorizo. The presentation wasn’t that great and the chicken was dry. For the price we expected something better. The desserts were the opposite. the creme brule was really good and the addition of grapes gave a great balance. The pistachio cheesecake was really interesting and different.
Excellent food and service. We ate there twice during our vacation and loved it both times.
Lousy service, tasteless lobster, calamari, and oyster tasted not fresh. Also it is overcharged for a plain boiled lobster
Fantastic food and great service. The lobster ravioli was amazing.
They asked for 18% tip for large group of people... and slow we wait for almost 40 mins while there were only less than 40 people in resturant. Fish and chip was ok but no strong smell or taste of beer.
Love this place the Thai mussles are amazing never disappointed
The potatoes with the brunches was fantastic. Worth the drive here.
The food was well prepared but unfortunately our waiter didn't get the details right. Although the attention to detail was missing, our bill reflected his mistakes. Certainly not the best burger $19 can buy, but it was good. The aioli garlic bread appy was quite good. Not a budget friendly establishment, but good food, nice view of the beach and right next door to the best Gelato in Canada! Make a reservation.
Food was really good. Everything was delicious. A little pricey though.
Waited for 45 minutes before anybody even brought us our drinks. Food is always amazing but service is TERRIBLE. waitresses are completely useless, just stand around and talk. Will never come back here this was the most unexceptable restaurant experience I've had at the beach. Beyond pissed off and annoyed at the service. To top it off, one of the managers was our server who was completely useless. Don't go here! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! Much better options on the strip anyways.
I am not a food critique but I can say, without any hesitation that I have never been disapointed with this restaurant. Love it!
Best restaurants in White Rock. A little expensive but worth every penny.
Excellent dinner and service. We will definitely go back.
Great Service, great food. I recommend.
Creole chicken was superb as well as the lobster carbonara. Best place in white rock
Everytime we come up from the states we stop at FIVE. The food is always fantastic and delicious plus with the exchange rate we get an amazing deal. The staff is always friendly, engaging, and kind. If you're ever in the area, do stop by.
Really nice "Hampton style" atmosphere, great service (Kim was our waitress) and outstanding food! I had the steak board, and it was cooked perfectly. Thank you!
Another fantastic meal. Great service, great atmosphere, great food and a great view. Highly recommended!
Friendly Staff! Very Accommodating!
Lovely view and staff, oysters were good, but the lobster ravioli was incredibly salty, and I like a lot of seasoning but it was almost too much even for me.
Absolutely amazing food. You can’t go wrong.
Our brunch today was delicious and service was wonderful. We'll definitely come back
One of my favourite spots in White Rock. Fresh seafood cooked to perfection. Seared tuna with mushroom risotto is to die for.
Came for our dad's birthday. The service was super friendly and accommodating. They sat us at a booth but when a table by the window opened up, they moved us so we could dine with a view. We ordered the jumbo prawn and calamari for appies. The jumbo prawn were huge and buttery. For entrees we tried the fish and chips and paella. The paella was on special that day for $25 so it was more affordable than normal. We also received a complimentary birthday dessert which was a delicious creamy creme brulee. Definitely happy with our experience here and would recommend to others.
Top notch gourmet food, great service and reasonable prices. The warm inviting atmosphere and amazing view makes 5 hard to beat.
Food is great, and place is so close to the Pier for a quick sunset stroll after dinner.
Very good food. Wonderful server ???? would definitely come back. Loved my meal
Amazing food and professional servers. The view is excellent too! It's obvious the staff is working extra hard to keep us safe during these strange times.
Depends on chef, first time lobster ravioli was great! 2nd time fishy and those pieces of lobster I usually toss out. Sticky toffee pudding iis good, creole chicken dish is good, garlic lovers caesar salad is average but all in all a good place to eat although a bit expensive for the dishes without that consistent quality.
The oysters are amazing! Highly recommended!
The Service, the Paella, the Seafood Linguine, and the dark chocolate creme brûlée was phenomenal. Definitely worth visiting. Oh and I forgot the oysters top quality and freshness. The prices are higher but the quality is there to match, worth every cent.
Wonderful experience, dinner here is relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Food is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful and we always feel special. We love this place for a family gathering or for hosting out of town business guests.
Service was outstanding, food all DELICIOUS and can't beat the views!!
I went there with my dad. Food is good and our server is nice. However, not the lady that seated us. We told her who we would like to wait for the booth that can see through the window since that table had just left. She said give them a couple of minutes and she never returned. After a long wait the other server approached us and we told her we are waiting for the table and she started cleaning the table for us right away. The lady that seated us then let other customers sat on that booth without telling them we were waiting. We had to tell that customers ourselves. Pretty big turndown. Even the food is good, probably won't come back. At this price range, I can get much better service elsewhere.
Ocean view patio... Amazing food and beautiful service :)
View was great, flavour was ok. But the mussel were not really fresh. Portion was on a smaller side
FIVE is a fine dining seafood and oyster bar on Marine Drive in White Rock. We've eaten here a number of times and enjoyed the food and service. My favourite dishes are the seafood linguine and the hot pot, both of which have a huge selection of fresh seafood, seasoned and presented well. The drink menu and wine list is also ample and round out the experience nicely. Prices are on par for the quality, location, and portion sizes. Combine fantastic food with the views around sunset, and it's one of the sweetest spots south of Vancouver.
Great staff, amazing wine, delicious apps! Southern Ontario visitors and loved the restaurant!
Delicious food but a little pricey
We went for Father's Day brunch, and everything was amazing. The service was fast and friendly and the food was incredible! We can vouch for the Crab Cakes Benny, the Smoked Salmon Benny, Steak and Eggs, and their special of the day - Fish 'n Chips Burger! We will definitely be back for more!
Good food, good service and a great Ocean View.
Beautiful sunset with tasty seafood at Five!
Very disappointing experience. Service was ok, but the food was just average, ordered ginger tuna with rissoto and it was super salty, table was dirty, anyone working for the restaurant was wearing a mask. The only worth thing is the view.
Located on the beach strip in White Rock across the street from the pier, Five restaurant ought to be full every night. I've tried several closeby restaurants but return to Five time and again. Excellent food with good-sized portions whether you crave seafood (Oysters Rockefeller, the Seafood Linguini), chicken (Creole Chicken) or a juicy sirloin. Service is personable and staff knowledgeable. Restaurant views are lovely from window seating and an inner table will still provide warm ambiance. Can't wait to eat there again! Update (Nov 1, 2019): Just learned that their kitchen stays open until 10pm Sunday to Thursday and until 11pm Friday and Saturday. Late night food service is hard to find, but available here! Pretty great!
Fantastic experience!!! feng shui and location is beautiful! Menu and specials not to disappoint. Our server Kim was professional yet very charismatic and fun! The quality of food was immaculate and the oysters are to die for!!! Would definitely go back again! Cheers! Tiana
Lovely location, tasty food. We had to flag someone to take our order. Drinks were super watered down. Not sure if we'd visit again.
The food is outstanding and the service can't be beat. This is quite honestly the best restaurant we have in the entire Fraser Valley. I've been countless times and never had anything less than a perfect meal. I've tried it all!!!
We had an amazing experience at FIVE! The staff was so friendly and accommodating, and the food was delicious! We will be coming back for years to come. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fancy night out with a no stress/low key vibe.
What a wonderful Sunday afternoon lunch we had at Five today. A bright and cheerful room with lots of nautical charm (tasteful not tacky). We sat at the window so had a beautiful seaside view. We started with the calamari, a dish I could live on! It was so tender with a light, crispy batter and a bit of zing from jalapenos deep fried with the calamari. We both then had the fisherman's stew (hotpot) which was worth every penny! There was so much fresh, beautiful, top quality seafood in there. A very generous serving indeed. The chef gets top marks for how skillfully all the seafood was prepared as it was melt-in-your-mouth tender and utterly delectable. I happened to mention it was my husband's birthday and the server brought us a very tasty, not too sweet (perfect) créme brulee. We often like to dine on the White Rock waterfront and Five will definitely become one of our favourites. Did I mention the friendly, welcoming staff? Yeah, that too!
"It wasn't bad" is how I'd sum it up. Our server was quite cold. We certainly felt rushed out of there, even though it was still at least an hour to closing. Place wasn't very busy and we had a hard time getting refills. I had to specifically ask for them. Was never presented a dessert menu nor told what the daily catch was. Food wasn't bad. Crab cakes had quite a bit of crab and not much filler. They're a bit on the small side but I'd rather have more crab and less filler than larger cakes with a ton of filler. Bouillabaisse was weird though. It was EXTREMELY thick. Plus it lacked seafood. To me it was terrible value for money. Oh and it was significantly sweeter than I expected. It's also extremely pricey. I get that it's a waterfront restaurant, but there's comparable places nearby that offer a better value in my opinion.
Nice atmosphere, a little pricey but the food was yummy.
Really fresh loboster ! Cooking in its best way! Nice service! Love here
One of my favourite places to dine in always great service and food
A perfect experience. Thanks for the amazing food.
Besides having a glass of wine spilled on me by the waitress (who didn't help to clean up anything and didn't even give a discount on the bottle of wine since a whole glass was spilled) anyways. The food was delightful and very flavorful. Had the grilled chicken sandwich (highly recommend), bruschetta (very very tasty highly recommend) and my mom and two cousins had the lobster ravioli (highly recommend). Overall would recommend FIVE and would definitely go back ????????
My daughter opted for the Fresh Shucked Oysters for $3.25 each. She ordered one of each oyster showcased for the day. The condiments, fresh grated horseradish and tobiko were all excellent. My daughter loved her oysters; however she states that the PNW still has the best oysters. must try it
They make authentic fish and chips using fresh fish and a it tastes delicious
What an amazing place. Oysters were super fresh and fish and chips that followed were great too. This is a great place to get together for lunch or dinner. My highest recommendation.
Great service and friendly staff..would like to see more options on the menu if I’m not having sea food..I recommend this place for a nice meal after a walk
Better than I expected. Service is good, some seafood is fresh and the flavors are there. The restaurant has a nice view but a bit cramped inside. I’d try them again.
