I do not recommend trying Baja Cantina. Our evening was ruined by a painfully dissappointing dining experience there. We waited for an hour for our enchiladas and tacos.. and to make matters worse, the customers who came in well after us were served shortly after they arrived. Secondly, my partner was not ONCE asked if he'd like another drink... while we were waiting for ages for our meal. As a former bartender and server himself... he was furious that we were ignored for so long. I'm not sure if they were understaffed, but we were miserable with being left there like that. At this point, we wanted to leave... but I wanted to just give the food the benefit of the doubt so I asked for the food to go. My boyfriend was very thirsty so at least we could get ourselves some drinks at home. When I politely asked if we could get it to go-- the chef was rude and grumpy, huffing and complaining that I'd even asked. The worst part of all was that the portions were so TINY that I didn't get to eat at all. I gave the two meals to my boyfriend because he was starving and I made myself a salad. So basically I spent over $50 to make myself a salad. When I asked the server, I was assured that the tacos were 'a good size' by the server... that is laughable. From the sample I did try, the food tasted mediocre. When I used to go to this restaurant, the portions used to be bigger and the service used to be a lot better. My partner and I go out to eat frequently; to both casual and fine dining restaurants, usually in White Rock & South Surrey. If we did have a good experience at this restaurant they would have found loyal and grateful customers in us. The atmosphere is cheap & cheerful, but with high prices... it doesn't make sense. Don't go here unless you want to have a bad time. I was so upset about my experience there that I asked for a refund. It took a week for Baja to reply. Finally... they got back to me, at first offering a refund-- then changing their mind... and being rude & insulting. I've never been treated so poorly as a customer and I hope you don't go through what I did.

Newly opened taco bar, located in the old Kahunas spot. Limited seating and small food/drink menus, but what we had - pork, carne asada and fish tacos - were very good. Excellent Cadillac margeritas. Prices were more than reasonable. Service a bit slow.

I can say after knowing the owners of the Baja Cantina, Christian and Manjeet for over a year, and after having filled in for a few weeks on my return to Canada from the Baja Peninsula as a team player in their amazing establishment. I have never met two people with more integrity and passion and commitment and love for what they do than these two. The food is gastronomical, the drinks are to be thought of as made in heaven, and the vibe and genuineness of these people and this Cantina is not to be missed. To have worked there was nothing short of pure happiness and joy. And I am a long term repeat customer, every week, who loves authentic Mexican Food with creative newness and flair. This is my Mexican go to spot in The Lower Mainland bar none. And it's not just about the Food and Drinks. It's about the incredible amount of Love in the Air. Some of the tastiest tacos we've ever had! We asked if they had a gluten free taco, but they are dealing with the Covid restrictions on restaurants and they had to limit their menu, but instead of denying my request, the chef happily asked me if I'd like a grilled fish taco that would be completely gluten free..... I got 4.... and every bite was better than the last! They were extremely friendly, and we will be back for sure.

Food was lackluster, service was slow, server was rude. Who puts mayonnaise in a burrito? Went here because the good mexican restaurant uptown was closed on Sunday. Tacos had cuke or zucchini, Is that a 'west coast spin' ? It was off-putting. I hope you guys can turn things around, mexican food is best when it's simple and fresh, today mine was neither. What a great experience me and my wife had at this little restaurant, we ordered a guacamole which is made from fresh ingredients right at your table, as well as a Mar y Tierra Molcajete (Surf & Turf ) served in a sizzling hot volcanic lava rock Mortar. The Molcajete and the Guacamole which also is made in a molcajete, were outstanding, you could see that they use quality ingredients, the whimsical and tasteful decor, the choice of music playing and last but certainly not least, the friendliness of the owners who let us in before the restaurant was open and cooked for us as they were getting ready to open it somewhat transported us to a place in Baja California, Mexico. Owners (Chef and wife ?) came repeatedly to check on us, we really felt more than VIP guests, we felt like family. The bad part is that we live 4300km away and visit the area just couple of times a year, needless to say I will make sure to visit this restaurant on each visit.

Well I had an interesting night at this restaurant. I was told by two customers sitting on the patio that this was the "best" mexican food on the beach. I can honestly say I can't give you a review as when I ordered a specific dish, I was approached by the cook/ owner questioning how I placed my order and I have obviously never eaten there before. When the cook / owner started to question how and what I ordered, I asked to get our bill. Obviously the customer is wrong in this situation as he leaned into me and stated that he recommended that my girlfriend and I never come back to eat there again. This was said so NO other customer sitting on the patio could hear. I can say this is the ONLY time I've been kicked out or been told not to come back to a restaurant in my life with my 6 year old son sitting next to me. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Yes my experience was shocking, their menu is also very limited. What mexican restaurant has a problem cooking a cheese only quesadilla on Cinco De Mayo??!!!

We have been coming to Baja since we moved to the White Rock area. My wife and I have never been disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious and the owners are even better. The owner even went next door and bought an ice cream cone for my friends daughter because she asked for ice cream after dinner which they don’t have. They go above and beyond and we will continue to come back.

Worth the wait! Best tacos outside of mexico! Tried the halibut, chicken and pork. A steal at $3.50/each. Got a sample of their watermelon margarita - can't wait to try one with tequila when I'm no longer pregnant. Service was a bit slow but again, worth the wait!

Just had a great experience at Baja Cantina, the food is amazing. So fresh and authentic tasting, it’s the real deal. Even the refried beans were the best I’ve ever tasted, guacamole so fresh and made to order. If you want great tasting mexican food with great service you need to add this to your list of places to eat in 2020. Make a reservation, it’s small but well worth it. You can thank me later????

Heard it was really good, went there early and there was seating for 10+ in the restaurant. When asked for a table for 6 I was told they had No seating, I pointed out the empty tables. I was told to be patient. Maybe they are good, my impression says otherwise. I went to Zapoteca down the road, got a table right away.

My family and I went to Baja for dinner on Saturday night, the owners actually cook and serve the food, they do table side guacamole and the Margaritas are very authentic and have 2 ounces of good quality tequila. They have a good selection of Mexican beer and the Baja fish tacos were delicious. I would highly recommend trying their food.

This is our personal favourite local White Rock East beach restaurant. We had another great meal tonight. Tip - its worth checking out the online Beach Bum menu on the website, which has more selections than you see on the blackboard. Definitely recommend the chicken enchiladas and the prawn ceviche. And I can assure you the fish and chips beats the other guys on this stretch of Marine Drive - hands down!

Went to this very tiny place to visit one of our high school alumni (we are teachers). Jean was an excellent and knowledgeable server, but the food took one and a half hours, and we only ordered a few tacos, we were going to order more but we had our 5 year old son and we couldn't have him wait another hour and a half. Jean was given the keys to the restaurant after just a week because they trusted her, and was told she was an assistant manager. The manager pocketed most of the servers tips, and she was given $6.80 for two weeks. We know this because we tipped her $20 and she didn't receive the tip. Jean had regular customers and worked hard. We convinced her that she was being ripped off and she put in her two weeks notice. The scathing text messages that the manager sent her after she put in her notice were appalling and unprofessional. Jean was nothing but polite when giving her notice (we saw the texts). He should be ashamed of himself, (and should also consider having his servers get their Serving It Right before serving drinks. Congrats Jean on your new job, we are happy you took our advice and quit. You deserved better Jean.
