Life Of Why

This hidden little gem of a supermarket has it all. Just steps away from the water you can take your food and head over to the picturesque oceanviews enjoyed by the affluent. Whether looking for a custom made sandwich or shopping for the entire month they've got you covered. They even have a new addition offering good quality wines. Parking is ample either out front or on the street. Parking is free throughout West Vancouver so enjoy yourself and enjoy Fresh St. Market. I highly recommend it.

Living on Bowen Island we use their delivery system weekly. Ordering is easy and we generally always get what we need or acceptable substitions. The best thing about fresh street in my opinion is the bakery, hand sliced deli, and customer service.

Fresh Street has some items that cannot be found elsewhere. I particularly like some of their fruit and nut mixes and the naan they carry. Where Whole Foods carries the same product and brand, WF tends to be cheaper, but Fresh St. is closer to where I live. What sets Fresh Street apart from any other supermarket I've been in is the staff. Without fail, they seem happy and are willing to help. It's actually a fun experience o there. My very favourite employee - and I would imagine others feel the same way - is Angel. He alone makes a trip there worth while! Now if his co-workers could only learn to pronounce his name correctly!!

WARNING - Pricing scam ! ! While evaluating their delivery program, I placed several items in the Online cart and once $40 was achieved, it showed a $0.00 delivery charge. Okay, so I go ahead and set up an account, provide all the details, including credit card information (Another warning, the system will ONLY let you set up an account if you allow them to store your credit card details, you are NOT able to key in the information once! This makes their database a prime target for hackers!). Now, the account is set up and just before clicking to confirm the order, I see they have plugged in a $9.99 delivery fee. This is a SCAM. The cart showed a total amount due before I established an account, there was NO delivery fee. Set up the account and bing, this delivery fee magically appears! They have lost my business. Have no doubt someone from the company will respond to this, either trying to tell me I made a mistake, or their software made a mistake. It was NOT my mistake and they will NEVER see my business in the future. BEWARE !

Awesome spot for groceries. A real upgrade from the Safeway that used to be there. Great fresh food and meals to go if you're in a hurry. Laid out beautifully and great service. Lots of parking but be careful in the parking lot as spots are tight.

A total bust!!!!! "Whole Foods Quality at a fraction of the price" what a joke! Tried to shop there twice, super pricey for a quality that can be found anywhere. It looks like they are catering to the aging population and gauging them on the prices.......really miss my old Safeway where they baked on premises.

We recently placed an online order for grocery delivery to Bowen Island. The service was second to none, response time to emails and enquiries a matter of minutes, they arrived when they said they would and brought what we ordered, all for just $7.99! So much easier than taking a ferry and spending a day in town!

Ian in the cheese section was so awesome. He guided me through getting a selection of delicious BC cheeses. He’s a pro and he gets it. It’s that kind of store. Go see Ian if you’re putting together a cheese board or just like good food. Amazing service, great store overall.

Stopped in last Saturday to pick-up my Skipper Otto order from the fish counter - quick, efficient and easy. While there, I also shopped for some grocery items - great selection of veggies and salad items, fresh and well displayed. I also bought an excellent Panini sandwich to go that was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and if I lived in the area, it would be my go to supermarket. Highly recommended!

Everything you’d ever need for your produce needs. A very tempting selection of bakery items…. A wide variety ready-to-eat/ready-to-cook meals, eg salads, rice/noodle bowls, sushi, sandwiches. Very reasonably priced as well! A very large and clean store space! Friendly staff :)

Meat lovers' paradise! I've had the best steaks every time i've been there, I honestly think you can't get better even in a high end restaurant. Every time I'm in the area I make a point of getting some. There's always something new, like brown tomatoes which I had never seen before, and are delicious with a little olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lightly adding some salt. I've sent many friends in there and no-one has been disappointed.

Lovely food market for more unique, fresh and upscale options. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables on offer, a good meat and fish section and an excellent bakery (try their cinnamon buns if you want a spoil, served in the tray they were baked in and drenched in icing). Hand sanitizer is on offer, there is a one way system established and physical distancing is encouraged. I saw a staff member thoroughly disinfecting carts also.

In general, Fresh St is the most convenient large grocery in WestVan if by car or bus... its right on Marine. Quite a good selection, nice bakery and staff feel they like working here. Overall, I give a big feel-good rating. It isn't a budget minded selection but they have refrained from installing those pesky inconvenient self checkouts. Stores who really care about customer service see why real people at pay counters matter. go there!

What started as a great small first class supermarket has become a place with low quality fruit, vegetables. Their meat area used to be one of the best in the North Shore. Now, their quality not only lacks but, personally I have bought three (three!) times chicken from them and when I open it at home the next day the product is way past due. Should be inspected by the health authorities. I just go for emergency milk or stuff like that. Their staff though is great with a fantastic attitude.

The quality of food has deteriorated compared to when i started shopping here a few years back. I get my lunch there all the time. Recently i have noticed that my sandwich smells and tastes funny sometimes like it was made with yesterday’s leftovers and there is not a single day that i don’t find cartilage or a fat lump or some other unpleasant inedible stuff in my sandwich. Their berries are no better. Overall it is a very expensive supermarket for what they’re offering. The management team are always nice and helpful though i gotta say.

Sadly, shopping these days is sometimes a lesson in the many ways a store can rip you off. Grocery stores are not my favourite thing anyway ever since they decided, seemingly all at once, to stop paying their employees for the extra care required during a pandemic. But Fresh Street has a special place in the annals of thievery. Today we bought some Sable Fish. Upon opening the clear wrap, the smell made it clear this fish was definitely not Fresh. Plus, for added weight while determining the price, a disgusting and decrepid, brown-ish tail was tucked under the fish inside the package. I thought grocery stores worked on the honour system: Knowing we can trust them means they get to charge premium prices. We know and they know it and everyone's happy. But this store is way beyond the pale.

Disappointing customer service regarding trying to get a home delivery on the same day for someone housebound. Someone named Carol would not co-operate at all-said they were too busy. They need to turn down their music on the phone while on hold. It's extra loud and irritating. We'll try Save-on foods.

I won't shopping from them anymore because they don't pay respect to their employees at all. Several days ago I was in West Vancouver Fresh Market to see one of my friend who works there at his break. He told me Fresh Market have set some new rules for their staff, there is nothing free for them at fresh market anymore and they should pay even for their coffee ! I believe it is like an insult not even to their staff but also to their costumers who pay and support Fresh market.

I don't know what Carol was shopping for, but Fresh Street Market is NOT as expensive as Whole Foods Market. I have been shopping at both and can only say I prefer Fresh St. Market. High quality food, excellent sales and great displays! On one occasion one of the clerks sorting veggies, ran after me to give me the discount coupon I missed for my lettuce. I think that is customer service you won't find very often. I love their soup counter. Pick up some of their hot soup. Delicious! For under $7 you get a huge (at least 3 large plates) amount of delicious soup. I love all the tomato based soups. Lots to choose from. Anyway thanks for being in West Vancouver.

I have been working outside all day in this cold weather of -2 in West Vancouver. By 1:30 pm I ran to Fresh St. Market to get something to eat. They have a deli so I ask for a Panini old fashion. The attendant was very nice and pleasant however she was not trained properly, that is a management training issue. I was in a hurry so I went to pay came back and got my panini ready. I ran into my cargo van so I can go back to site and then whole thing is colder than the weather. So I ran inside not pleased at all because I have been working since 3:30 am this morning. I asked for customer service and i get directed to cashier #6 and I asked her do you know what is a panini (Customer Service, right)? She answers to me, I have no idea how can I help you. I just simply told her you should know since you are Customer Service. She then proceeded to call the Supervisor from the Deli Department. This amazing lady comes to me extremely nice and kind and ask me what was the problem, so I told her my panini is cold and it suppose to be hot and ready for me and here I am taking time to tell you that this is not a panini and your attendants have not been trained properly. They had to grill it god knows how many times and it was finally ready. I just don’t understand why they call sandwiches a certain name without knowing what it really is and how it suppose to be served. On top of that, they dtill charged me for the so called panini. Not even grill marks as it should be. Just a joke

Very large grocery store with a large parking lot in the middle of the Whistler Village. Very convenient location and great selections of food.The store does have a good layout and is very clean.Even though this place is close by, its items are mostly over priced and can get them elsewhere for less.

Delivery service has always been good however packing of our fresh produce order today was terrible and not appropriate. This will be the final time we order from Fresh Street, as we would prefer to give our money to a service provider that provides much better customer service. We had ordered fresh pre cut broccoli and green beans from Fresh Street. Our order was delivered today on Nov 4th and the green beans supplied to us had a 'best before' date of today being November 4th and the broccoli had a 'best before' date of November 6th, being two days from receiving our so called fresh produce (although being delivered old produce). Both items would have been a spoilage cost to their company had they not gotten rid of that old produce to a consumer, which was us this time. By handing us off their old produce, Fresh Street is saving their company spoilage costs and passing this cost on to us so they can still make money. We are utterly disgusted and this will be the final time we ever trust Fresh Street with our money and better judgement.

CAREFUL at FreshStMarket in West Vancouver, the vast majority of staff including cashiers do NOT wear masks. Some of the staff are unfriendly and/or untrained. We feel safer and more comfortable at #wholefoods at Park Royal in times of Corona

Wow - its almost hard to believe these guys are a grocery store and provide service that could be an example for other businesses to strive for. Their online shopping is beyond convenient when you have three kids under three and comes right to your door. Whenever there has been any kind of hiccup management has been never short of responsive and kind in going completely above and beyond to correct the problem. With Whole Foods completely on the decline for both quality and service, and Superstore thinking it was a good idea to offer no service and now raise their prices - Fresh Street is the only place I will now shop for fresh goods.

Similar to Whole Foods but generally more expensive – Also considerably smaller. For example, Happy Planet soups are $6.00 at Whole Foods but $7.50 at Fresh Street market . However, their sale prices can be quite good. The other problem is that they don't always list ingredients on their homemade food. This can be especially problematic with soups as my husband and I are vegetarian and we know better than to trust what someone other than the chef says regarding chicken stock, beef stock, etc. They have lost considerable sales from us because of this. Their sales people are as helpful as they can be and it is generally not too hard to find one.

I was in yesterday to buy from the bakery a millefoglie pastry and i was surprised that the bakery attendant with her dirty gloves took the pastry in her hand and put it in the container. When i took it from her i noticed fingerprints on the outside of the pastry.I found this whole experience very unsanitary and will never buy from the bakery again. The whole store itself is not as clean as the Safeway store that was here in the beginning was.If i could give the store zero stars i would.

I feel that Fresh st. Market is very inovative and provides best service in the area. We have IGA and Whole Foods Market in West Van, but the Fresh st. Market is by far the most friendly and trying hard to answer to both potential and existing request from costomers. I use the online delivery service twice or three times in a week. The shop always impresses me by the quality of the products they bring to our door and amazing customer service provided by Shawn's team. I hightly recommend the store to everyone.

Really nice grocery store. Similar to Whole foods they have a great selection of organic and natural foods. They still stock processed foods and meal kits and regular grocery store things (mexican spices, taco kits, mayonnaise, soy sauce). Fresh produce section has lots of kale selection. The coolest thing is their fresh nut grinder they makes nut butters: roasted peanuts butter, chocolate and peanut "Reece" butter, etc. They have lots of selection of chicken eggs, milk, and dairy products. Tons of yogurt options. They have jarred and canned sauces and more luxury options like sliced carpaccio octopus. Pickled carrots, beets and others. Their floral section is expansive and they have succulents, flowers, arrangements, and small "Christmas trees (the Grinch style). Their baked goods and pastries looked good, store made pie. French bread can be bought here. Deli has fresh seafood and meat options, pre-marinated. Frozen pizza (store brand). Can buy cakes here too.

We love the online delivery services that Fresh St offers. They are punctual, friendly and super easy to shop with. I always use my past shopping lists that they save for me to make my online grocery shopping quick and easy. I recently placed an online order using my iPhone from Hawaii and the delivery time slot I wanted was not available. I really wanted to return home and have my groceries delivered within an hour of my return as with 3 little ones who would have been super cranky from a red eye flight I did not see how I'd manage grocery shopping comfortably. I emailed the customer service team to request my preferred time slot and in minutes they responded. I was elated to come home from the airport and receive my groceries at my door the minute I stepped it. AMAAAAZING customer service!!! Thanks to Shawn and his entire team at the West Van store.

I went to fresh st. yesterday and it was so crowded. No doubt, it is good place for food.But, for health and safety reasons , you guys ahould have proper protocol. No one is following social distancing in store specially around the checkout counter. I had few items i was in line for express, cashier in the first till was doing all the transactions and the one in second express didn’t bother to call me. We didn’t have any idea someone is in other till. When you know your store is busy, you should have someone to direct customer. It will great for customers and your employees too as the burden will not be on one person. I hope you will take some action about this problem. Otherwise, this is a best place for shopping. Thank you.

Where do I begin ? I have raved about and recommended this store to whoever listens. Leny at the bakery should be especially mentioned. She is knowledgeable, beyond helpful and wears a big smile that cheers everyone up. The meat department is manned by people who know their stuff and do special cutting as required. I recently bought some outstanding veal shanks for osso bucco. The meat was star quality. We have been feasting on fresh salmon which is currently in season and on a variety of other seafoods. These are always off the boat fresh and reasonably priced. The fruits and vegetables are as closely local sourced as possible. Go to Costco for big ticket items like laundry soap, paper towels and organic olive oil. This grocery store is for weekly fruit , veg and meat supplies which never disappoint! Congratulations by the way to the management team . You run a happy ship with great workers who aim to please !

I have been ordering Fresh St. Market's delivery service to Bowen Island and it is awesome. The quality of produce and meat are excellent and they seem to make an effort to carry more locally sourced food than the average store. The delivery charge is a steal compared to a ferry trip, not to mention how much weekend time I save by ordering online. I received a call personally when they didn't have one item available, with suggestions for a substitute item. I was worried that the drivers might balk at my scary driveway but they navigated it better than I have seen...anyone...navigate my long steep driveway with no room to turn around at the top. The refrigerated van kept my groceries fresh (with frozen goods still well frozen). Keep up the good work, Fresh Street!

I had no idea what to expect. I found the whole layout and food selection was geared to high-end taste. Gleaming displays featured foods from all over the world. I was expecting elevated prices, but I was amazed to find the prices were comparable to stores of a far lower quality. The staff was a delightful group who obviously loved working there. I noticed a bin by the door that was full of umbrellas----a courtesy for the people who might have left home without one.They also have a self-serve coffee shop; you pay for your delicious coffee by making a voluntary donation to a local charity.
