Wow! This restaurant exceeds all of our expectations Everytime! We had the Chardonnay mussels & calamari to start. We savoured every single bite! Try the calamari with tzaziki! We also ordered some bread with the mussels and it was an incredible sesame seed sour dough WOW! The salmon was juicy & full of flavour! What’s more to say? The view is phenomenal! Beautiful patio for gorgeous views! 100% the best restaurant in a 20 mile radius! Deserves beyond 5 star *****

Made our reservation on Open Table for 7:15. We were seated on the patio with a spectacular view. Our server was so attentive to us. As soon as it started drizzling she got us seated under the tent at an open table and when the rain became worse she let us move yet again. I haven't seen this place since it was The Bridge years ago. It has had quite a beautiful face lift! Our food was amazing with a unique flair. Our Spanish Coffees at the end of the night by the light of the bridge and listening to the rain was a perfect end to our night! Thanks for everything. I will be back!

The entre we started with (calamari) had a horrendous presentation with it looking like thrown up food ( frozen calamari), had a good taste but still the batter negated what taste it had. Moreover, the service that we experienced was poor. Although, the entrees we ate (Welland bowl, and toms burgers) had good taste and were overall good. The main star of this dining experience was the desert, apple tart, which had a a splendid taste and seemed fresh. In conclusion, the Taris dining experience was just decent at most with the evening begging with a poor starter and even poorer reception yet the entrees and desert shined.

Very nice location. Recommend dining on the balcony. Only tried two dishes and not that great. The fish tacos were too pretentious and tasted like they were concocted by a french chef. That said, I'll give the place another try when I'm back in Welland.

Pretty place right on the canal for a lovely view. Food was above average with a nice flavourful menu. I had the burger and it was good but not the best ice ever had. I wasn't asked how I'd like it cooked and looked like a fresh beef patty. My girlfriend had the surf and turf (which was spicy sausage and grilled shrimp), the portions were modest but filled us enough. We went on a long holiday, was seated right away and had a very nice server. Overall, it was good, above priced but expected for where the restaurant is. Good place to try and enjoy the scenary.

Found this restaurant after driving by from the Welland Farmer’s Market! It is so hard to find a restaurant that doesn’t reheat a bag of food prepared somewhere else; so we were extremely happy to have found Taris on the Water. Everything is prepared fresh at this restaurant! My husband is celiac, they have several gluten free options. Our first visit is definitely a 5 star. We started off sharing the gluten free calamari appetizer which was perfection. Even if you don’t eat gluten free you would enjoy it. The calamari was meaty (good quality). The dip it comes with is delicious and the squeeze of fresh lime juice didn’t affect the crispness of the batter which was light, but perfect and not greasy. My husband loves fries and it’s hard to find GF fries; so he was excited when he saw the offering of gluten free fish and frites which again were cooked to perfection, and on top of that, they are hand cut! Hubby says they were damned near perfect, not greasy and he gives them a 9/10, but says he’s not sure what a 10/10 would be. The portion size was perfect! I had the fried chicken and fries and it truly was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, not greasy, moist and seasoned to perfection (a 10/10). Both dishes came with a coleslaw and although it wasn’t a big portion, it was enough for both of us, we were stuffed when we left (no room for dessert). The coleslaw was so fresh and not just your average coleslaw of cabbage and carrots! The service was awesome! Our waitress (Debby) was super friendly and recommended a local IPA beer for me which was very good. Hubby had wine with his meal. We sat on the patio. It was a cool evening, but the heaters were sufficient to keep us comfortably warm. We sat near the balcony rail and enjoyed the calmness of the rippling water in the canal. We were there at 6:30, so enjoyed the sun going down and a change in the canal when the bridge lights came on. The bridge lights are red and white and were reflected in the ripples of water! The ambiance was excellent! Definitely coming back and looking forward to trying out one of the igloos!!

Great experience! We had a large group with a number of children and were able to get a reservation with a few hours notice. We had a lovely table on the patio overlooking the canal with ample space for strollers. All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was love music on the patio as well which was a nice touch. The artist was really great. The menu offered a good mix of options. We sampled a number of dishes, some good and others great. Would definitely recommend for a night out!

Was enthralled by the location and the food quality was exquisite. A short menu could be seen by some as a negative, but I found the selection palatable and in keeping with a smaller joint that does a few things very well. Beer can jerk cornish hen was perfectly cooked, and my guest's fried chicken was absolutely delectable. View of the water was pleasing, and the patio shaded nicely. Only take away was that service was a tad slow, however there was only a single server for the entirety of the patio, and she was lovely.

Went to Taris on the Water a few weeks ago the food was fabulous and the staff was excellent. We are now going to have our wedding reception dinner here in July. Amy is fantastic and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This is a wonderful restaurant all around. Delicious food, the staff is very gracious, and the atmosphere is inviting. My personal favorite dish is their Fried Chicken, which is a must try! Their butter nut squash ravioli always hits the spot too. I love their desserts, which are creative and always feature local fruits. I'm a regular on their patio in the summer, and I'll be checking out the igloos this winter. Thanks Taris!

We passed by the place and it looked nice. Stopped in, there was no greeter at the door, fair enough as it was not busy. When the greeter came, she looked us up and down asked if we made reservations and I said no- that was a fair question, but what put me off was the way in which she asked, sounded like ‘what are you doing here without a reservation.’ She proceeded to interrogate us, are you double vaccinated? I said yes but my son isn’t. Again fair questions being asked of all the restaurants I have gone to during the pandemic, however this lady was interrogating us (and there were other patrons waiting behind us at this point). She seated us but her attitude and tone of voice left a bad taste in my mouth and I chose not to stay. My advice: please be kind and courteous to ALL patrons. Would not recommend this place.

View is gorgeous! We went at night so it was really pretty sitting outside. Food was a solid 6 though. The hummus was basically two dollops of hummus spread across a flat plate with 5 chick peas, one split cherry tomato and a few yummy ginger pieces and actually 2 Kalamata olives. Wouldn't recommend. Shrimp cocktail was okay as well. Steak was well cooked but flavourless and the mashed potatoes lacked any salt. Veggies were way too few. The salmon was good with a delicious sauce on top. The ribs were great also. Mac & cheese was super dry on the inside and could have used more cheese. Food wasn't up my alley for sure. If you go, it won't be for the food! View only.

Really enjoy coming to this restaurant; the atmosphere, food, decor & service are always impeccable. Every meal I have tried has been delicious , my favourite so far has been the salmon with pakora. Have brought a few visitors from as close as Hamilton and as far as the UK & all were very impressed as well. I loved this restaurant in the past ... but today my Cobb salad was more like Cobb soup. Way too much dressing, lettuce was limp, one cherry tomatoe cut in half! It used to be full of avacado and egg...today one quarter of an avacado not diced... half a boiled egg...definitely not worth 16 dollars ... my lunch partner didn’t eat any of it.. waste of money...two stars because ambiance is nice and service was good

One of the best places in Welland and the Niagara region in general. Amazing hospitality and the food is divine. You can tell that the chef is really passionate, which is a rarity nowadays. Try the fried chicken, you won't regret it! In terms of Covid-19, they follow restrictions to the T. In the summer they have an amazing patio. Indoor seating is well spaced a part too. If you can call ahead, try booking one of their 'igloo' outdoor seating spaces. So cool!

I had my wedding at this wonderful restaurant September 28, 2019 and everything was perfect, from the hospitality of the staff to the food, and Excellent service. I had planned to have the dinner at Taris on the Water and the wedding ceremony in my backyard, but the weather did not co operate with my plans. I spoke with Amy, who is absolutely wonderful in every way and she worked things out so that we could also have our ceremony on the patio of the restaurant. I must thank-you Amy, you saved my special day. I thank the entire staff, the food was amazing all my guests enjoyed their meals. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone I know, to have a dinner or to have a event it's perfect setting for any gathering. Thanks Amy and all staff, you made my day perfect.

The food is always fantastic. I'd give 5 stars if the service was more consistent. The main issue, my wife called to make a reservation for the 2 of us for 8pm a few days prior but was told no because the kitchen closes at 9 that night. We were shocked because 1 hour prior to the kitchen closing should be lots of time. So instead she ordered us takeout for the night we wanted. When we arrived at 8pm to pick up the food, the hostess greeted us and prepared to seat us. We mentioned were ordered take out but I was a little confused and asked her about it. She said they wouldn't turn someone away who showed up and did not understand why someone would not have given us the reservation 1 hour before the kitchen closes. She agreed that should be plenty of time. We could tell she did not want to throw anyone under the bus and back tracked saying it must be a new manager rule she is unaware of. She also told us to just show up next time rather than trying to make a reservation. The worst part about all of it for me was there were only 2 tables of people in the restaurant, they were essentially empty. You would think they would want to make money to compensate from the pandemic. By the way, it was a male voice on the phone telling us they don't seat an hour before the kitchen closes.

This has been our "Go To" restaurant for business and personal lunches and dinner. Food is always top shelf, and the service 5 star. The best kept secret is the "Wine Room" downstairs when you have a larger party of 10-12 people. Private and secluded. A perfect place for a birthday or small celebration.

Was there for dinner on Sunday, amazing experience. Jaden was an amazing server; personable, knew her stuff, awesome in general. Cory Cruise was performing live music which was great, as we also had a chance to see him perform Friday as well, but front row seats this time. Food was extremely top notch as well. Only suggestion; to tone er down a bit with the hot peppers on the calamari. Had a tear in my eye at one point, but worth it in the end, as it was delicious :P. Came across this place while going to the medical center. Menu looked good and it had decent reviews. Overall we were very impressed with this place. Wine list wasn't extensive but had a good selection. My wife and I shared the delicious shrimp Provencal which had lots of fresh veggies. My wife had the fish tacos which were good, a different sauce on each would have been better. I had the mixed greens ceaser with a very tasty salmon. The greens and dressing were delicious. Service was excellent as was the view. We'll definitely be coming back to this find

Great spot, not crowded, nice view from the patio overlooking the river. Service was real...not a canned over the top franchise resto style greeting. Our waiter was quick, efficient, gave us the right amount of time to review the menu. We asked his opinion, he gave it, we were happy. Burger was freshly made, really good!!! My wife had the haddock (lightly battered), also delicious, and not greasy. The fries that came with, home made, thin cut, cooked in clean oil! You can tell. We topped it with a cappacino, desert (flaky) and pistachio gelato. I'm not a desert guy so, not fair to rate, but I always have to try it. I went here with my wife while she was working in Welland. I ordered the bruschetta appetizer - described as bruschetta on a seasonal crostini. Well they brought it out and the menu described it backwards. The crostini was the same across the board, but the bruschetta (if you could call it that) was not. There was one that was normal, one that had shellfish, and one that had mushrooms. I expected bruschetta, and am allergic to shellfish. I also don't eat mushrooms. The staff were able to bring me three regular bruschetta, which is the one saving grace. The entrees were fantastic - I would eat the food here again any time. It was the lack of accuracy of the menu that reduce my overall rating.

Best restaurant experience in Welland! Being a Level 5 Local Guide as part of Google's Local Guides program I am simply compelled to write this stellar 5 ***** review. Excellent lunch service with flavourful food and nice views overlooking the canal. The grilled shrimp and calamari were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fresh greens salad sprinkled with Quinoa and candied pecans was off the charts as far as a salad ever could. The ice wine vinaigrette and pickled beets was perfect with hints of rosemary and thyme. - I look forward to coming back for a dinner service.

Made reservations online and never received a confirmation. My girlfriend made some with them online just incase and received an email confirmation but apparently they called afterwards and said they couldn't take us anymore. Would have been nice for them to follow up with my original reservation and not send a confirmation for our second leaving us with the thought that our valentines day dinner was good to go. Now were stuck trying to find a restaurant that isn't fully booked. Thanks guys.

We just happened to be in Welland and found this charming restaurant. The food was flavourful and unique. The pakoras were my favourite - I couldn’t stop trying to get more sauce. I love that the flourless chocolate cake was just slightly warm. And the waiter was very helpful. Need to find an excuse to make the drive back.

My daughter had a Shirley Temple and I mentioned in passing that she liked the cherries and next drink she loaded up her drink with cherries. Just a nice quiet place tucked in a corner overlooking part of the Welland canal that is now used by rowers, kayakers and paddle boarders. Has an outdoor patio which we are always looking for and just some great food! Definitely coming back to try something else, maybe an evening where the sparkly lights will be on?

I'm going to flat out say it. Did not expect a place like this in Welland. The food is really good. Expect that to be reflected in the prices though. But having said that every time we've gone the menu has been different. They really keep the menu changing with the seasons. So that's pretty cool. And you get to keep trying new things every time you go. The patio is right on the canal. Beautiful and when it starts getting later the canal bridge lights up. Last time we went with friends and it got a little too cool. One of the girls mentioned that and I don't know if it was the hostess or owner but she overheard that and brought out these little blankets for the girls. Other women at other tables called her over and they provided blankets for all the ladies that requested them. It was obviously thought out before hand and not a random blanket or two. I thought that was a classy touch. Whether it's a classy night out with friends or a romantic dinner date I would recommend this place.

Fabulous alternative spot when visiting Niagara Falls. This is a great find. Tired of the tourist food places in the area, we found this only 20 minutes away. We had dinner on the patio right by the water. It is October but the temperature was still warm and the tent blocked off the strong wind so it was lovely sitting outside. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, the steak was done perfectly medium rare and the cornish game hen tasty. Just a small quibble - larger plates for easier maneuvering. Service was slow but our server was really friendly. Really happy to find a place that is serious about food so close to the falls. Will definitely return when in the area.

This was our favorite place in town, but it's been at least 8 months since we dined here. Service and atmosphere still top notch but the food has been declining - we had 3 bad meals in a row and swore we wouldn't be back until the menu got an overhaul. Used to have a beautiful cobb salad, duck confit salad, fantastic grilled calamari appetizer with chorizo and fennel... replaced it fried calamari, pakoras and falafel. The chef seems to think he can call anything "nicoise" as long as he puts hard boiled eggs and beans in it. Since when are soba noodles and kimchi "nicoise"? If I want pakoras and kimchi I'll go to the Smoking Buddha. We'll keep checking the menu and hoping for better.

Enjoyed another great meal with friends at Taris. Shared pakoras vegan appetizer plate and the savoury waffles and all were amazing. For mains we had the fillet mignon, lamb shank and squash ravioli and we were all very pleased with our entrees. Our server (Debbie) was friendly, helpful and attentive. The decor had recently been decorated for the holiday season and was quite beautiful. We visit this restaurant maybe 3 times yearly and are always pleased with the food,service and overall experience. I wish they were closer to us ( Toronto) so we could frequent it more often. As a vegetarian it's sometimes harder to find nicer restaurants to please the carnivores and myself but at Taris we are all happy.

Found the prices on the higher side so it probably won’t be a regularly-frequented spot, but a nice-special-occasion spot.

Couldn’t possibly comment on the food as we didn’t make it to that point. Made a reservation for the outdoor seating and paid a deposit over the phone to secure same. Received a call from a lady approx. 3 hours before our reservation to inform that our outdoor reservation had been cancelled due to weather damaging the iglo. Upon asking to rebook for an alternate day it was stated me that the outdoor seating would not be available until next year. At this time I advised we would still be attending to dine inside as the menu appeared to be very well compiled. On our arrival and noticing that one of the two outdoor dining areas was still in use, we were very puzzled with what was told to us two hours earlier. We were greated by a nice gentleman who was very apologetic about the situation, insisting that what was relayed to me over-the-phone was a miscommunication. The gentleman did offer us a complimentary drink and was friendly in communication. No complaints with his service or attempts to resolve the situation to book for a secondary date. Due to the fact that the woman on the phone had straight up lied to us we decided to request a refund of the deposit amount and attend somewhere else. Very disappointed as this was our primary choice for the days celebration, in reading the reviews it is clear that reservation issues have occurred in the past so I felt a necessity to share our experience.

Enjoyed the atmosphere here, views are very nice, we ate inside, found the room very interesting. I had the daily special, which was Duck confit with a mushroom risotto. The risotto was lovely, very creamy with arugula which I would not have thought would compliment it so well. The confit, however was not to my taste, I found it very salty, but, since I am no expert chef I will just pass on it in future. My husband and daughter had the salmon, and both enjoyed their meal. We plan on going back, although not too often, as the prices are a little high.

This is a beautiful venue! Intimate, upscale with view of the Welland Canal and the bridge right outside the window. Just had my daughter's Bridal Shower today at Taris On The Water. Worked closely with Amy Dutera to coordinate all the details. She was so helpful and always available to answer all my questions. We had approx 30 guests and the staff was attentive, organized, efficient and professional. The food was excellent with the presentation exquisite. Thank you Chef Justin Upper for the fabulous menu and thank you Sous Chef Dave Spano for your flawless execution today. Thanks again Amy and staff for making this day extra special!

TL;DR- If you’re visiting the Niagara area or live within driving distance, MAKE THE TRIP to Welland and eat here. Full Review: Fantastic, and NOT just when compared to locals. Admittedly, the chef and I share a palette, as this was one of those times where every flavor combination sounded (and was!) delicious. For instance, I almost NEVER order chicken as my main course - especially when there’s a fillet to be had- but the description drew me in, and I was blown away. Moreover, the chef’s plating was among the best I’ve ever seen (beautiful as in pic below) including multiple AA Rosette owning establishments where I’ve visited and worked. The reasonably-priced cocktails were fantastic (I had two...) and the wine list wasn’t needlessly extensive or expensive. Finally, I am SUPER glad we saved room for dessert, because the flourless chocolate cake was genuinely memorable. The culinary experience I just described combined with the view (see pic from our table below) and was topped off by excellent service. Taris on the Water was easily one of my most enjoyable dinners in memory. Bravo!

I've visited a handful of times and the food is always good. The last time my butternut squash ravioli was under-seasoned. The butternut squash ravioli is my favourite dish. I'd recommend it to anyone. I'd love to visit more the next time I'm in Welland. The patio outside is very nice in the summer and fall. Nice view of the canal and the bridge at night. A bit pricey for the portion sizes. The drinks are definitely overpriced. Not a casual spot and definitely not somewhere to bring your kids.

Good spot overall - lovely quiant atmosphere. I did feel it was a bit overpriced for the offering. My partner and I tried the fried chicken for 2 - 25 dollars. Included were six small to moderately sized pieces of chicken (which admittedly were very very good) and a modest portion of fries and a spoonful (literally) of coleslaw. I wouldnt call it highway robbery, but probably 4-5 bucks over what it should be. While the server was nice, the pace of the meal was FAR too fast, it felt like we were being conveyor belt fed our meal and apps, in the matter of 15 mins. Understand the place wasnt super busy, but it runs the experience a fair bit. Overall suggest checking out and I will try again, likely different items this time around.

On June 8th, 2019 we celebrated my mom's 75th birthday with about 22 guests at Taris on the Water. We had an amazing time. The food was delicious, the service was great and the manager, Amy, was superb and on top of every detail. In one word: excellent. My wife and I are doing a long weekend visiting all over Niagara for our anniversary and had dinner here. The atmosphere is quite cosy and romantic. We ordered a sweet white which was the best we've had in quite a while. Both the vegan basket and sphagetti verdes we ordered were delicious and had unique flavors. The service was also top notch. Altogether, a dining experience that positively contributed to a truly memorable anniversary.

Good food, but beware if you're taking a gift certificate. We went there for a bridal shower for a co-worker, and several of us had $50 gift certificates -- a gift from our manager for Admin Assistants Day. My bill came to a little over $43, and the restaurant was prepared to pocket the balance -- no offer of credit for the balance, which is illegal by the way. They did this with several of us, in varying amounts of unused credit. I insisted on getting a cheesecake to go, which the staff was quite surly about, so I took it with me on principle but didn't eat it (for obvious reasons). Will not patronize this restaurant again, and have reported it to the government.

There are too many favourites, but the braised short ribs are always fall off the bone delicious, steaks are hand cut in the back, fish tacos are exactly what they should be (not mexicanized), and butter nut squash ravioli is always a treat. Lots of interesting cocktails. Nice way to dine out in Welland. And too many negative comments about parking, there are tons of places to park if you don't mind a 1-2 minute walk by the canal to the restaurant.

What an awesome find!!! Just passing through and stopped for lunch. Absolutely stunning atmosphere! The mac and cheese was unlike anything else. What a gem! Jayden (?) Was wonderful. She was very informed about the menu and happy to help with any questions or modifications. The food was out of this world. Unfortunately, we had to send back the calamari the first time because it was so overcooked we couldn't eat it. However, it was quickly remedied and came out perfect the second time. Also, there was a gentleman playing guitar and singing on the patio and I enjoyed every minute. I highly, recommend this spot! Thanks to Gary at our bed and breakfast for recommending it!

Not impressed. WAY, WAY over priced. Service was slow. Meal was okay but not what I would expect from a place with that type of atmosphere. Staff was very friendly right up until the point where I paid the bill but left no tip, then his demeanor changed. I will never be back.

It's hard to believe this little place is in welland! The food is excellent, the service excellent and the views... amazing! We were in one of the heated igloos in the patio. They are very warm and cozy with an excellent view of the bridge and canal. I highly recommend for a fine dining experience right here at home. Thank you Taris on the water for a great evening!

(Translated) Nice place, but lacks consistency. Nice interior layout, but a little overcrowded in the dining room. On the terrace, the railing is made of glass, so there is no obstruction between our gaze and the canal. Thus, the view is breathtaking on the canal and the bridge. Very pleasant to eat near a stream. On the other hand, food side, lack of consistency !! I chose a "Taris Greens" salad, 2 days apart, and the quality varied a lot. On Thursday this salad had almost all greens. On Saturday the salad had a lot more pecans and cranberries. Despite everything, we had very good service, especially on Saturdays. One of the few beautiful restaurants in Welland. (Original) Bel endroit, mais manque de constance. Bel aménagement intérieur, mais un peu surchargé dans la salle à manger. Sur la terrasse, le garde-corps est en verre, donc, aucune obstruction entre notre regard et le canal. Ainsi, la vue est imprenable sur le canal et le pont. Très agréable de manger près d’un cours d’eau. Par contre, côté bouffe, manque de constance!! J’ai choisi une salade «Taris Greens», à 2 jours d’intervalle, et la qualité variait beaucoup. Le jeudi, cette salade avait presque uniquement de la verdure. Le samedi, la salade avait beaucoup plus de pacanes et de canneberges. Malgré tout, nous avons eu un très bon service, surtout le samedi. Un des rares beaux restos à Welland.

Place is very pretty inside and very CLEAN. I ate here once before and this time food portion was very small..ordered fish and chips...was good but not great for $16 Also the kitchen staff there was a guy singing a song about how he loved drugs...so not ideal especially with a ten yr old at table and the deck wasnt as nice as i rembered...will not be returning.

Beautiful place. Decent location, but not a lot of parking during the day. The food is super yummy with great options. The winter igloo is a must do. Prices are a bit high but for the quality, understandable.

Lovely anniversary dinner for 2. Great service and delicious meal. So amazing to sit by the canal and look out at the bridge changing colour.
