We've got the feddbacks of real people like you who buy the products and services of Victoria Public Market at the Hudson (Fish Shop) in the territory of Victoria (Canada).
At this moment the firm has a score of 4.1 stars over 5 and the rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is really positive, and it is based on a very high number of opinions, so we can be quite sure that the valuation is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their score when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to write feddbacks when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Fish Shop is included in the category of Fresh food market.
When you are in the area especially during lunch time it is a must go to .
Good place to find a snack or meal if you're vegan. Pretty copper jewelry. Tea and artisan coffee.
Lovely little produce market just inside, operated by a chef no less...so you know the quality is good.
Like the shops and the feel. Really enjoyed humble and hive.
Absolutely love this public market! They have some of the best food, people watching and shops downtown. Super close to fan tan alley for the touristy photos as well! Beautiful ambiance and lots of seating, sun or shade for eating at nearby restaurant.
A cozy and lovely place to grab lunch and coffee. There are various places that offer good quality food there.
It's very unique inside and very cool. See the chocolate school and check out 2% Jazz as well.
It is a great place to visit lots of different things to see and food to eat. I love going there.
Small market that gets very crowded at times. Enjoyable though and we had a great lunch while there.
Such great selection of stores and food choices. Plus amazing events for different holidays.
Great variety of restaurants and services. Beautiful building.
A wonderful re-purposing of an old building. The Hudson Public Market is a shining example of urban renewal. It's an open, welcoming space with a slightly industrial feel. The shops are varied and interesting, and most importantly, they're all local. Since I don't work downtown, It's a little disappointing that it's not open later, but the hours on the weekends are great.
Great place to take a big group or a bunch of picky eaters, there's something for everyone and all of its tasty! Be sure to get icecream at the pie company, especially if they have their brown butter brownie! Delicious! Don't forget to grab a coffee at 2% Jazz.
Another great place to eat! Lots of variety! Nice selection of peoples crafts.
Nice variety of places to eat plus a small selection of local vendors.
Picked up a great coffee. Just inside the doors off Douglas.
wonderful setting with a variety of lunch and grocery options
Lovely local merchants that change occasionally.
A nice place to put your feet up. Photo shows a pie shop among the many eateries in this place.
Nothing but an indoor foodcourt now. Only 1 shop left that doesn't serve food. Disappointed after a 20 minute walk from our hotel.
Great selection of food and treats etc from local venders around the Victoria area etc.
Some interesting shops, quite pricey. But a great place to grab a coffee and do some serious people watching!
Nice mix of food inside. The donairs and coffee was really great, among others.
Great place with lots of small businesses. Vicexpress Teriyaki & Roll has the absolute best chicken udon I've ever tasted, and the owners are very friendly and always recognize me (I go there a lot). The other food vendors are of varying quality, but the udon makes it all worthwhile.
Not seeing much stability here. Lots of empty shops or tiny over-stocked spots. I had a noodle soup which had plenty of seafood but the soup seemed like a foil packet of lower end flavouring which over powered the rest of the meal.
Beautiful market with a bunch of great shops. Highly recommend The Very Good Butchers for a Vegan meal.
This place has so many crazy food options inside, I could spend a week here just trying different things
Really neat space with a lot of great food options. The tacos at the taco place are killer. Roast is amazing and Vic Pies... W O W. Parking lately hasn’t been that good due to all the construction. Still worth making the trip.
I liked a number of the shops. The chocolate shop has a wonderful selection of chocolate. We also love the pickled beets.
A great community of vendors! Theres a veggie deli, health food store, tacos (flour not corn though), jewellery, chocolate and lots of meat lovers options too.
Place is dead. Basically a good court , maybe.
Great location and use of this downtown space. I wish - for the tenants- that the rent was cheaper as I miss the Olive Oil store (Olive your Senses) and the French bakery. The Japanese restaurant is good for a quick grab and two coffee shops (Shatterbox and 2% Jazz) is nice to have near the office.
Love this little market, so many choices of food. Great vegan/vegetarian options. Also you can get many made local products for your house like chocolates, sauces and bakes. Great place to spend and afternoon!
A must go place with good food selection and live music.
Great food and loved looking at all the hand spun tools and colours!!
Best place for a quick bite in Victoria! It's also an amazing venue for events!
Olive the Senses makes the best Balsamic Vinaigrette with an amazing variety of flavours!
Awesome shops in here! Really liked The Chocolate Project!
Victoria Pie Co. , Local Produce, Local artisans, 2% Jazz Coffee, Olive the Senses, Sutra Indian cuisine, Cowichan Bay Deli and Seafood, Toddler playzone...need there be more said about this place?! Oh and often live musicians!
Very underrated. Lots of unique items and some great places to grab a meal.
I work close by and come here often. Food is pretty good and a fairly good selection. Prices are good as well.
Nice place to come have a cup of coffee and grab a quick lunch
Super cute. Was only in the building for a Beer week event though, would love to come back!
Some good cheep food, not really a fan of the pie people tough crust, but good fills comfortable place to hang
A one-stop shop(s) for all culinary [accessories] needs -- well I'm a bit sad the actual butcher and fishmonger are gone though. But the vegan outlet is amazing, if different! So I chose to say [accessories] because I can still find amazing oils and vinegar, spices, kitchen gadgets, pies & ice cream, baked goods and a small small grocery. Then the stalls offer chocolate, teas and if you need to grab a bit to eat then you are in for a treat - they are choices-a-plenty!
Looks like a lot going in but not a ton of substance. Kind of a not so well done grandville island but the food isnt as good.
Nice selection of food vendors, my favorite is Roast!
Great venue with a few great shops. ACCESSIBILITY: Street level entrance on the Douglas Street side. On the east side there are stairs with a lift. There is a accessible bathroom, and the women's bathroom has a large stall with rails. Most shops are also accessible.
Great place to grab food when you have a variety of people with different tastes. Haven't had a bad meal yet.
The Public Market is a nice space. It just does not have the buzz and feel that I expect from a public market. Still there are some great vendors and delicious food. It is worth a visit. It just might not take you very long.
My favorite places in this centre is the very good butcher and shatterbox. Most of the other permanent places are good, but I find as a whole this lacking somehow. It has the feel of a really pricy food court/mall lobby without a big attraction to hold my short attention span.
Really loved the aesthetics of this place. amazing lighting and couple of great restaurants.
Good choice of food, tables. Paper containers for takeout.
Great food vendors, lots of variety of delicious food made with care, and other pop up markets. Shatterbox Coffee has amazing coffee and other beverages, and their soup is amazing! Not to mention their bakery items. There's something for everyone here, from gourmet vegan at "The Very Good Butchers", to tacos, sushi, to a dedicated pie shop (sweet and savoury), and the best pizza I've had at La Pasta, as well as all of their pasta options. "Roast" always looks and smells fantastic, that will be the next place I try.
Great food and atmosphere when they have music.
Avoid coming here if you drive. The parking situation was obviously designed to discourage customers from ever coming here. The miniscule amount of available parking is downright dangerous to enter and exit at the best of times.
Great CD's even better icecream
Great location and very clean building, just lack of stores, went in and out in 5 minutes. Maybe it’s because of covid.
Lovely market with a lot of personality. Lots of vegan items at Very Good Butchers and some of the other little shops in this market area. There’s even some vegan ice cream. Chill music is playing as well. Lots of seating if you want to eat inside. Cute decorations hanging from the ceiling.
Beautiful market! One of my favorite spots to come for a bite, especially at The Very Good Butchers! Lots of local product and art! Highly recommended.
Cool market lots of vegan options
Excellent public market. Has a French bakery, Mexican food, sandwich shop, charcuterie , cheese shop, pies shop, high end chocolate vendor, and more. Recommend for those who love food!
Some nice offerings, but I was underwhelmed. I thought it would be a much larger market. Felt a bit like a food court, abliet better food.
Giving 4/5 because Victoria has so much more potential than this compared to other markets I've visited. This one's lacking a bit on produce. However, it's very clean and there's good variety
Very small the meat market is the best and also the pie place Try lemon curd yummy
So many great choices of food from Vegan to pork .... pasta to chocolate.... Natural foods and coffee. Pasta and curry. Public bathrooms
Bit small but really cute stores.
Very vibrant, active Place. Lots of people, lots of choices for meals, groceries, homemade pies, teas and a small food market. They even have free underground parking off the list.
Home to some of my favourite places in Victoria: Roast, The Chocolate Project and Pi...to name the top 3. This small market primarily offers delicious ready-made food selections. There's a kitchen supply, a butcher, and a small selection of rotating vendors. Parking is becoming worse with every visit - so be a little patient. It's worth a look!!
Roast serves up some really nice meet a sandwiches. The pie shop right across from it is excellent also!
Great little market with some tasty food.
This is a complete miss. The prices are unnecessarily high and the hours are ridiculous. As a working man like pretty much every other person living near this place it would be really convenient if the Grocer was open later than 6 so I could actually buy groceries when I got home from work. Take a page from any other market out there
This place has a great selection of takeout restaurants, vendors, and cafes, as well as a nice little health-conscious market run by a very nice, friendly man. This market also has keto baked good options.
Amazing fresh bread and porchetta! I loved the atmosphere.
As some other people have pointed out, this is not much of a market.. I have been living In one of the Hudson buildings for 2 years and I always use my vehicle to go to a local grocery store for my bi-weekly run. If there was a Fairways style grocery in the area I would be satisfied.
The Very Good Butcher is my favourite vegan restaurant.
Hey, I went here to buy a donair from Donair Beasts as advertised on social media. I looked in vain for the place. It was not there. After searching Googlemaps and walking around the building twice, I finally called. The guy who answered told me Donair Beasts is closed due to health issues on the part of the owner.
One of my favorite coffee places is in here.
I only ever go there for vegan food and that's it and I love it! Great food great prices served by amazing friendly people with smiles on their faces always, what's more got a question? Ask away and it will be answered! its so amazing that we have a local vegan shop! makes me really proud to call this beautiful city my home❤
Good food with many options. Local, ethically raised meat options. Live music days. Decent parking. Each to get to. Lots of seating
Pleasant people who run it! Has the advantage of being in a big open space, and indoors.
Love this place. Fresh veggies and flowers. What more could you ask for?
The Public Market was a wonderful place to wonder on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The shops were open and bustling. It was a wonderful way to see so much local commerce while warming up from the ocean breeze.
Meh. Pretty small. Not all shops open. Ok for food. This is not an attraction like the Pike Place Market in Seattle or Granville Island Market in Vancouver.
The very good butcher is in this market. I don't need to say anything else YAY Market
Prompt curteous and delishioso breakfast Burrito.
In here you can find all different types of foods and drinks... the place is very nice and you can find anything you need
Good food ! Great live music!
I always enjoy a little strole though here when I have the time. It reminds me of a smaller, less busy version of Granville island. All the stores care a lot about their products and the booths always have something fun to look at.
Quite a few food places to try, a fantastic chocolate shop (with chocolate made from beans from around the world), and is easy to get to. Downside is many closed or empty businesses
The fresh local fruit and vegetables stand is fabulous. Vendors were so friendly and welcoming
Lots of places are closed, it is unfortunate. Hopefully things will start to get better again next year.
Great place for lunch with many tasty options :)
Enjoyed the variety of shops and delicatessens available in the Hudson.
The best indoor market in Victoria. Good food, coffee, chocolate, and music. All the best things.
A great place to take a break while shopping downtown Victoria. Random live music and local vendors selling chocolate or jewellery make for a unique shopping experience and good browsing. The Very Good Butcher is a must for amazing plant-based food and coffee at 2% Jazz can’t be beat. Very relaxed atmosphere and one of the best places in Victoria to kill time.
Has it all ..sometimes. gotta get their early. Most places come and go... Where did the bread lady go??
Great work they did on this old building! It's a bit small but you can find food and local craft. There's a nice store for balsamic vinegar and natural olive oil with many flavors.
There are some really delicious food options available here. From savory pies to italian to vegan. A couple of coffee shops as well Also a very instagrammable place if you are into that. Great place too stop in for some good food and to rest your feet. There are tables through out and spaced well apart.
Decent enough place, with different shops within. Olive the Senses has some great oils, nice coffee shop with pastries, a pie place, butcher, and the list goes on. You can't go wrong here.
I find this place.lacks vibrancy and character. It's trying hard to be cool but ends up being a "high end" food court.
Awesome little market with fine fast food options.
Very small. Food not good
Nice little place to grab food or drink in Victoria
Much smaller than we thought it would be, and not many vendors.
Fine, eclectic collection of eateries and other shops
Such a great environment, lots of variety for shops and great restaurants to eat at. We did a food tour here and everything was amazing. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Victoria to make this a place to check out.
Great spot with featuring a drop-in sensory-oriented parent supervised kids play area that opens before the market itself opens. $6 gets you 2.5 hours of drop in which allows your other half to go shop for groceries.
The vendors are friendly and it is a cool atmosphere that is an interesting change of pace. I purchased 2 bracelets from a lady who had a table set up. They only cost me $10 each and are handmade. Cant go wrong with that one. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the bay area fam.
this place is absolutely stunning! i originally came for the shatterbox coffee bar but as soon as i walked in i was amazed. there are many cute little restaurants, as well as a grocery store type place. at the time i was there, there was live music by an acoustic guitarist, which was a pleasant surprise. overall i really enjoyed my time sitting and drinking my mocha while watching everyone and listening to the music. would recommend a visit to if you are in Victoria. :)
Had lunch here and was pretty good. Many stores to choose.
Was good, but should check the open hour
Came to the Brink Events party last night, it was really cool. I felt like a movie star. Great job and see you next year. Thanks!!!!
Just food and lame jewelry vendors in middle. You see them all the time. Not a market at all
Good place to eat and take pictures
It was very quiet and only a handful of shops were open. It's a good place to get pastries and a coffee, but as it's a little bit away from the touristy centre, I wouldn't recommend it as point of interest for visitors.
So many choices under one roof
It could be so much better. Some excellent vendors but the overall feel is more of a food court than public market.
Great for a quick afternoon lunch downtown with lots of variety.
Super friendly atmosphere with a good feeling inside the place! Smells fantastic and is very welcoming as well!
This visit to the public market I picked up some delicious Rosemary and chipotle spice nuts from the chocolate project. The chocolate project is the definite must visit pick up if you want to deliver a gifts that are handmade and delicious. Previous visits to the Victoria market included fantastic sushi.Go enjoy and check out the variety.
Not the market we were expecting. Very limited selection more a group of boutiques than produce, grocery and culinary items. Seemed like a food court more than anything.
A great reflection of the entrepreneurial spirit that exists here in Victoria. From Fresh local meats to the greatest chocolates, pastries, olives, jams, and press you can imagine! We go weekly to Bumble and Hive for some playtime and it's always a treat to be in this space!!
Good destination for a quick bite to eat.
Not much going on here, although it looks like a great stop for a coffee
I love this public market. It feels similar to the public market in Europe. Great selection of a coffee shop Shatterbox, vegan eatery the Good Butcher, and a fresh produce market. There are plenty of vegan options to choose from.
There isn't really anywhere good to park to come here. It was really packed in small. But on the plus side there was a lot of very fun vendors and fun food places to enjoy!
So many awesome things to look at! Really great atmosphere.
The market is small but great place for lunch, good selection of food choices. You can spend a little time browsing in the shops, Olive the Senses is a must see & taste, or you can sit & listen to live entertainment!!!
I wish we had a real public market, as supposed to a hipster caricature of one.
Got some chocolate and quince conserves, Black chick pea curry and a roasted chicken. I love the location. More seating opened up for better spacing.
Many food options with spacious and friendly accomodations to meet friends or family.
Love it. Such great shops! World class chocolate shop, great coffee, amazing local food and cool pop-ups!
Bad hours and a very small variety of stores. Why close at 6pm on a weekday? No wonder more empty spots keep popping up- terribly inconvenient for dinner.
Not big enough but it is pretty good for what's there
It's always dead in there, never seen it busy. I think its because there is a serious noise pollution problem in the building. A high pitched humming noise coming from the ceiling plus the pork place doesnt properly ventilate their operation and it smells like pork everywhere. Theres a great little mexican place tho
Very expensive and the word 'market' conjurs up a very different shopping experience than what you get.
Small market with a few places to eat and shop. Doesn't take long to go through it.
I love the Public Market. It is always clean and a beautiful place to sit and enjoy some food. I love the restaurants in this building. Once COVID is over, everyone should rent this building for any event they want to hold.
Yes one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite in this city. I love what the have done with this building, it has a real community feeling going on. There are quite a few food options, I haven't tried them all but the ones I have yum they are delicious. The Victoria Public Market is somewhere I would strongly suggest checking out if you haven't been.
Really nice to shop fresh. Nice place to visit and shop fresh products. Small restaurants that seemed nice, but since it closes early and we came in late we didn't have the chance to taste it. You have to go there in the morning or afternoon.
Great place with multiple vendors. The smell alone of sauce and basil was incredible! Several vendor in site - bagels, coffee, vegan meats, pizza, pasta, canned preserves, etc
Very small cute little market, not busy at all. Great to chill far from herds of tourists, since it seems like they haven't discovered this place yet. Delicious options to eat, we had La Pasta, recommend it for sure, authentic, simple and super tasty.
pies, Roast & lots of other great eats. & super special events too
Third time it's happened to me
This place is emptied out in there is very little of interest left.
Neat mix of food options, good place to go for lunch. French bakery is awesome!
Delicious food options (on the pricier side for a quick lunch, but great nonetheless) and I enjoy the entertainment they have some days. A very YYJ mirror of Granville Island type experience (condensed!).
Variety of shops and eateries is good. Most serve quick lunches and hipster fare. VicExpress Teriyaki has great selection of fresh sushi and daily specials. Expect spotty customer service at Roast.
Great local market with unique vendors. Definitely check this place out when you are downtown Victoria!
Victoria Pies:. Crispy, veggie pocket pie fresh from the oven - delicious!
More than half of the restaurants were closed or maybe we just reached at a bad timing on Saturday for lunch.????
The places I've tried at the Victoria market. There is a pie place in here and the pies are so delicious. To me the best pie is the sausage hand pie (they have a veggie equivalent) The hand pie was about $6 plus tax experience but it's not something you eat daily.. Then there is a pastry shop with really great croissants. They have a breakfast one that's really good. Expensive but a treat occasionally so not as bad I've had Roast a few times, expensive but you do get a fair amount of food . Everything at roast is really good. You can't go wrong with the choices. I usually get the mixed greens salad with meat usually chicken. Con:The line is always long and it's probably how they organized the order taking /staff. It could be more efficient and as a result have less of a line up. There is a Teriyaki place, typical food court stuff, pre done sushi, rice noodles a choice of meat etc. Prices are are very reasonable and you get alot of food. $8 for a full meal that will feed 2 people. Con: The veggies are always over cooked, always looks from frozen. A new place Taco place just open up good selection including a breakfast burrito I tried the chicken burrito ( choice of different meats or veggies )the portions are very small especially compared to other taco places in Victoria. As I waited for my food other people ordered tacos bowls, reg taco etc again very small.. My food was around $12.50. No extras, or special order, or drink or sides. The filling was chicken and rice, no beans! ???? The food was very delicious, the chicken was well marinated, however that price. Just can't. Con: expensive!! Like I said, lots of other taco places nearby with more for your money. Most things in the Victoria Market is on the pricey side.
Wasn't what I was expecting. A lot of little artisanal shops under one roof. They were quite nice but was expecting more of a "market"
I come here often for lunch during my lunch break at work. I've tried about every place here by now, and everything is delicious. Everybody who works in the building is also incredibly friendly and a pleasure to have small talk with.
Great place for family to share a meal (you know, when everyone wants something different!). There are multiple places to eat and buy healthy food. And if you feel like cooking at home (or at least re-heating something you picked up for dessert) there is a kitchen supply shop with something to inspire you. Looking for something special for that someone special? Jewelers, a chocolatier, and a variety of other vendors are there to welcome you like an old friend. And you will see people who live in the area; there are very nice apartments in the floors above the Market. The building used to be a major Hudson Bay venture and is now a landmark historical building.
Not what it used to be. Basically a few expensive restaurants. But, it does have some tasty & unique foods.
Has become much better in the past months, and is a nice way to shop. It's like a mall, but without any of the drawbacks
All the tourist books said this was a place to go, for both locals and tourists. I didn’t realize though how small this place was. I was expecting a market similar to Granville Island. This place was no where near what I thought it was going to be. It was a waste of a cab ride for us. We were quite disappointed. We probably looked around for 5 minutes and that was it.
The market was very, VERY small, only maybe 10 stores altogether, which only 2 of them were for shopping. If you are looking to go shopping, you may get disappointed. The two stores there were in there tho sells very cute house hold items and unique chocolates. Great selections of food.
Two yuppy, too echoey, no atmosphere, high price point
Cool place, but the butcher is no longer there
Great selection of foods from various vendors, too much to mention but all best in city
Nice market, no many selection but nice environment
Great selection of quick, tasty food at reasonable prices. Couple of small storefronts add well.
Great place to get local and organic goodies. Love the vegan butcher, chocolate vender, French bakery and kitchen gadget shop!
Interesting selection of foods. It's like an indoor food truck festival. Wasn't busy at all when I was there.
Nice and local. I got myself some fresh local vegetables and got my latte. Love the vegi store and coffee owner/workers. I recommend it to anyone who likes fresh, local and descent people.
Good selection of local businesses. Great place to stop for a bite to eat.
There was a small jewelery shop with amazing jewelery items such as pedants, necklaces, rings. Handmade works.
Nice indoor market, a variety of hand crafted items such jewelry, art and hand crafted preserves.
I went to a special event there, and had the opportunityfor the very first time to taste a number of items at the Very Good Butcher. Excellent quality... and for me, it was tastier than meat!
Nice indoor market, great food, olive oils, vinegar and a bunch of other things...
I was expecting a farmer's market but it is more of a specialty food court with some vendor tables down the middle. Great bakery in the back and if you are a chocolate connoisseur then you must go see David at his international chocolate table!
There's always something new happening and the food vendors are great!!!
Hungry for a great meal and you're downtown but not completely downtown. The old Bay building has a great selection of market meals. I recommend grabbing a hand pie.
Great down town spot for an array of local flavors
A must visit for fans of local artisan shops. Great bakery and a wonderful array of cuisines to choose from for lunch !
Charming market! Great for informal eating, lots of doog quality choices.. And if you're looking for that hard to find kitchen accessory visit charming Sabrina at Whisk kitchen accessories.
Smaller than I expected but worth it for sure. Make sure you check out theupstairs, they have some amazing waffles!
Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the selection of stalls. The market used to have positive lively energy. What happened?
It's a shell of its intended purpose...so sad this is what's become of that space. Standing in here looking around there's absolutely nothing resembling a market ...yes I know I used to be a vendor and its from that perspective I see how much is lost from the original concept
Great Tacos. Realty great. The best shrimp tacos I have had outside of Mexico.
Great pies, go here for pie it’s so yummy
Ok. Nice to see the old Hudson Bay store re-purposed, just hoped for more.
Nice, but not many shops.
Customer service is not their strong point. Act like they are doing you a favor
We held our wedding reception at The Hudson in July 2019. It was a great choice and the staff were amazing at helping us plan things out. Highly recommended!
Love the shops and the people. Such a great atmosphere. Prices are also so good.
Great little restaurants and shops. Casual and fun.
Many options of food to choose from. Has rustic appeal. Overall, a lovely place to visit.
I am a huge fan of the public market perfect one stop shop for holiday gift buying, lunch at a local food vendor, or to pick up some grocery items at the little natural grocery shop inside. They do community cooking classes and have a very active social media profile as well (go follow them!) Some sample vendors include silk road tea, very good butchers, and le pasta.
If you’re looking for teas, locally made soaps and jewellery, this is the place for you. Otherwise, there’s nothing much really.
The spicy seafood nooddle soup in the sushi place is great. And there are many tables in he public market.
Not a huge market, but a neat place to wander for a little while and check out some good eats.
Great place for high quality, yet quick food. Roast has fed me a few times. Meat ball bowl with half rice and half salad. Do it!
A tucked away secret glad we found it..local food venders..the even have a small stage with live music.
Nice alternative place to get away for a meal or coffee from one of the food establishments in a hip but informal place. There are a few specialty shops too.
Great place for local food
Totally over rated. Not a market more of a mall
It’s not what you think a public market should be.. there is No Fresh Vegetables and Fruit stalls here.. just a bunch of small food fair style eateries with frozen takeout options and small stalls and shops..
a couple of empty retail spots makes it a little less vibrant.
The Victoria Public Market is a great addition to the area. There are quite a few food option to choose from, a great atmosphere and occasionally free live music throughout the week. I highly suggest you check it out :)
I love the Victoria Public Market! It's a great place to eat as there are a TON of choices for all tastes and sensitivities. They do regular music, vendors and even cooking classes. For sure worth a trip to eat. I specifically went there for WaffleBeast this time and it was delicious.
Market comprises mainly of butchers and tea shop as well as one or two restaurants.
Best gluten free fish and chips here as well as other great food. Shame it's not open later or we would eat dinner there a lot more often.
Good place for lunch. Always smells good when I walk around the market.
Nice spot to grab a bite or souvenir. The chocolate shop is great.
Really not much here. More like a food court ????
Just not worth your time. It should not be advertised as a " public market". There is no market in place
They started opening more places after COVID. The place is always clean, has a dinning area and washrooms. You can find a good variety of food.
Loved the market. Yes it is a bit dark inside. But I like it. Its not the type of place you stay in for awhile anyways. Good variety of foods, indian, asian, mexican, vegan are the ones that comes to mind. I also like the westcoast store. Lots of nice superfoods etc. Will be back here quite often.
Smells great and has a wonderful selection of things to eat, browse and buy. Has a fun environment to hang out in
High quality food at high prices
What an amazing place! Be prepared to be overwhelmed with choices of great food. Please check this place out.
Fantastic space - top notch restaurants, stores and local farmers markets. This place brings out the best local businesses in Victoria. Silk Road Tea, Olive the Senses, Cowichan Bay Seafood, and Ravenstone Artisan Meats, you can't go wrong. Love the gluten free fish and chips at Cowichan Bay Seafood!
Great place to go for lunch with a variety of food options. Great open space that often has some live music. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick meal.
They tried to make it like Granville market but clearly failed. Few overpriced stores. Closed early.
A cute market with small restaurants and some dining space.
The lunch eateries are quaint and high quality. The Victoria Pie Co is one of my favorites.
Quirky, but needs more variety. Sad that the nice French bakery closed.
Had some super tasty vegetarian food. So good!
A number of good places to eat, have coffee and dessert.. will return
Love the food here. Check out roast most especially.
Lots of nummy food go there to try mmm there fast and its friendly there
Must visit when in Victoria...lots of delicious food
Awesome little market stalls selling fresh and unique foods. Make sure to check out the vegan butcher and oil & balsamic store
A basic market, With features such as live music, over priced food selections and cramped sitting areas. Cute but try not to go there often.
Great little place, popped in for the Meat free butcher
Love the atmosphere and vibe of this place. Still has room to improve.
The taco stand is awesome, Cedric is really attentive to his customers needs and will go the extra mile to make sure dietary concerns are given extra care.
Perhaps I was anticipating a bit more, but the Victoria Public Market could use a bit of an overhaul and refresh. The restaurants at the market are great, but the overall ambience leaves a bit to be desired. We did visit during a quiet time of year, so hopefully the warmer months bring a bit more vibrancy!
A delightful collection of high quality stores, so much food variety it's hard to choose.
Pretty lame....not really a "market", more like a little food court.
The Victoria Public Market, located in the old Hudson Bay building is a great collection of food outlets to suit a wide variety of tastes. Indian, Mexican, Vegetarian, Vegan, Coffee, Cheese, it's all here, and more! Once you've found your favourite, it's an easy eating experience, and there's always the choice of something new if you're feeling adventurous. Most of the outlets are locally owned, and the staff are passionate and knowledgeable about their offerings. The best of Victoria! Find your food, grab a table in the main area and shoot the breeze with friends. It's what eating out should be.
Great selection of local vendors.
Owner's need to support Bumble and Hive more ! - I would not visit this place at all and spend money on food vendors if it weren't for them ! It's the only place for parents to take their kids for fun in the whole downtown of victoria!
Everything was shut down because of failed ventilation. Thankfully Smatterbox was still open. Yay!
Great to have so many good foods in one space. Roast is so good! You have to try a box of balls!
I go there often. Good place to grab a coffee or lunch! Also, have a grocery store that mostly has vegan things!
Nice place, good variety of eats via the food court. Free parking as well.
Lots of great, mainly healthy choices. Roast, for one, is delicious, as is the hand-pie shop. All this goodness despite a loud, less than ideal physical space, where merchants seem to come and go with regularity.
Not so much a market. More a high end food court. Great place for a quick lunch.
Great vegan food
Nice little public market but not much variety. Although it looks like they are moving a few of the shops around. Possibly adding more businesses?
I had high hopes for a public market for Victoria when the idea was first proposed, even after it opened thinking vendors would change and things would eventually even themselves out. Quite frankly, with few exceptions, I still see this as a disappointment to the city...
A little place to go grab a bite in a very relaxed ambiance. For tourists (like myself) it's okay-ish but if I was a local I would visit the place often. There are many different options for food!
Very small good place to grab a bite to eat.
Great beef burrito. Nice flovour and hot sauces.
Small restaurants inside. Bathroom coded. Some spots for venders are empty.
Interesting variety of unusual food stores - we ate at Roast which was great. There was a vegan butcher and a tea stall too along with various Asian outlets.
The market is changing and finding its footing now. I visited recently and loved the cafe and chocolate shop
Lots great shops to visit, the grocery store has good supplies, the very good butcher has a great plant-based menu to explore. you can get local jam and there is a great bakery booth there too. plus so much more!!
Good little food market! Vegan sausages, savory and sweet pies, Indian food, tacos, pasta, amazing variety of chocolate, coffee shop and natural store. Convenient location downtown.
Upscale food and vendors. All of them are outstanding regardless of if you eat on premise or if your picking up something to go.
This place really impressed me, I've thought a lot about how great a place like this would be so I loved getting a chance to see it. There are some really cool shops including a grocery store with a lot of local and healthier food (quite a lot of selection). A very good bakery. I had a porchetta sandwich from a sandwich shop, it was delicious. There were some smaller craft sellers. Live music and movies some evenings. Its a good spot to eat with groups as there are multiple food vendors with some communal seating. I will go back every time I'm in Victoria.
Having lived abroad half my life it was odd moving to Victoria and finding out that the 'Public Market' was more of a fancy food court than a real old-European market hall. Never the less, it's got some great places to eat and a couple little vendors. Worth checking out for lunch if you're downtown!
The market is worth a stop but not nearly as large or exciting as the hype makes you think. If in the area it is worth stopping in but I would not go out of my way to visit.
Sad to see a lot of shops closed, but this place has a nice vibe and good food...
Great food, soup and people at Shatterbox!
Very good lunch place. Lots of choices and easy seating. I enjoyed a fresh roast beef sandwich at Roast
Not very many stores.. didn't see any fruit or veg like any good public market normally has.. just a small handful of noted looking vendors
An Ok stop for quick bites. I would love to be able to buy some deli items here. Like real cheese, meat, crackers etc.
Lots of great local products here. Amazing coffee and food choices.
Super fun to walk around. Great place to spend a weekend hanging out with your friends and family
Cool place to find nutritious fast food.
I had coffee at Shattered Box Coffee and the soup at The Big Spoon. I recommend both places, same owner
I was soo excited for this public market.....what a suprise (and not a good one) it was. Not much going on here.
Great lunch spot! Many choices.
Love the indoor food stalls. My favourite is the fresh baked breads & pie stall. Food prices are slightly higher but than could be caused by the rental rates. Lunch hours are jam packed often challenging to find an empty seat.
So sorry to see business closing in there, Salt Spring Cheeses but at least Olive of the Senses is still there. :)
Small but has various kinds of foods!
Find it overpriced and unattractive inside. The location is great though for lunches
Not well advertised, but there's gluten free fish & chips inside!
Neat place with a very tall exposed ceiling. I think the intent was for it to look "cool" with the open cement, mechanical equipment, piping and electrical everywhere, but I find it distracting. I'm not sure if the building is finished and these are real shops I'm browsing. The shos are great!! The vendors are amazing! I have yet to try them all but the Pie company makes amazing treats hot and ready or take away to bake.
Nice place, but not many shops.
Everything seems over priced. They are constantly cycling through vendors so I'm never sure what will be there, though 3 or 4 seem to have had some longevity. The food is good, just small portions for what you are paying. Bumble and Hive is awesome for taking kids to for play time.
While working through a project in Victoria, I always enjoyed taking walk outside to this public market. A healthy variety of artisan foods and goods. Roast was a favorite stop for me.
Best chocolate shop I have ever visited in the Victoria Public Market! Amazing selection
I have a great experience at the roast meat restaurant, freshly vegetables and delicious food.
The French Loaf is awesome! Such yummy things to eat????❤
had lots of fun here when beer fest was going on! very cool, lots of different food and drinks.
A public mall that is always changing one of the things I love to hate some favourites go missing but new favourites are found
Still have a lot of stores space to lease
It's almost all chitzy type restaurant cafes with a couple shops that sell things you find in mall shops that are floor to ceiling wall to wall kitchen gadget junk.
Wonderful place to check out.
Disappointingly small number of stalls in here. Was hoping to be able to buy some fresh produce, but very little choice.
The Public Market has become an outlet for fast food suppliers and offers little with respect to fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, there are a bakery and specialty oil and vinegar place but not much more. The most inconvenient issue is the very limited parking closer to the building.
Ya gotta do this ! The “Taste of the Victoria Public Market” was absolutely fabulous! The genuine enthusiasm of all the vendors and the incredible food that we got to taste made it truly a great experience! We had never even been in this Public Market before. We will definitely be back! Don’t miss this one !
Cozy place with some nice places to eat. There is a place calls Pie and Co that is really delicious!
Paid the street parking to run in and pick up what was 100s of dollars in gifts for a wedding. Came back to car - 5 min late. Left with big ticket from overzealous bylaw enforcement. Not only will I never visit the Victoria Public Market ever again, but I'll never visit Victoria again. After all, why would I visit a City whose Mayor is an anti-Canadian, virtue-signalling leftist?
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get. When called to pick up our order for my daughter and myself a thief had grabbed half the food before we could walk 10 feet to the pickup counter. They realized it had been pilfered, looked around and immediately remade the order. It appears this is par for the course at this food court - so much for ambience.
Lots of unique foods to choose from. Great place to wander around and lose some time while you eat some fresh food!
Lots of different things to be entained by. Unique things to see and lots of choices for food. A place worth seeing and experiencing. Very friendly people and welcoming for sure.
Love the diversity in foods available, it's a casual fun atmosphere in the heart of downtown. Wonderful artisan baked goods, ethical coffee options and locally owned and operated businesses a plenty. If you're worried about it being over crowded, it's not this time of year. It's quite relaxing to sit, grab a cup of coffee at one of the tables throughout to enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle outside.
We were there on a Saturday afternoon wasn't busy and a few of the Shops we're not even open.
Disappointing how small this place is. There are probably only 10-12 merchants in the whole building.
Basically a really nice food court. With checking out!
Always worth a visit, try the bean butcher's mac and cheese.
I love coming here with my little family! Great spot to pick up a pastry and a coffee, then head in to Bumble in Hive for a play date.
It has a wide variety of food, and interesting artsy crafts being sold down the center of the main corridor. Its definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.
Great place to browse and have lunch
Didnt look around to much was there for a interview...it looked really nice tho
Very disappointing. 95% places to eat. Very few shops to wander thru.
Come check out the vendors. I am here with my crystal water bottles and crystal dog collars :)
The Victoria Public Market mostly consists of a few restaurants and a few shops. I was hoping to see some open air produce, meat, and floral shops but to no avail. The restaurants did offer great smells that lured me into their stalls. Some even offered great deals! The taco shop offers $3 tacos during happy hour. That's cheap! Walk around and take it all in.
A fun place to go for a casual lunch. A lot of selections.
Great Breakfast burrito at one of the vendors
Some decent options try to support looks like a tough go
Very little in there basically oe small hallway
Love to take my 1 year old to bumble and hive to play then get some amazing food at the friendly butcher after.
Was very quite for lunch time, bit of dull industrial atmosphere. The food looks good!
Best pie I have tasted. Also they got decent chicken place that sells roasted chicken.
A market in the downtown of Victoria. we can buy meals for lunch, and eat them here. There is little fresh food. rhe meals are cost effective.
Safe bus stop, This was the original H B C
More like a food court than a public market. Decent food selection but not what I would consider a public market.
Meh. I went looking for a farmer's market and found a food court instead. Had a decent meal at the Mexican place and picked up some rhubarb at the produce shop. Not bad, but not the market I was looking for.
Open 7 days a week, this beautiful open space welcomes all arrays of vendors from hand crafted jewelry, homestyle pastries, fresh sushi, great coffee and local produce both vegan and otherwise. Excellent community hot spot to take a moment to enjoy in the heart of downtown
I like visits to this spot and hope to head back and try a few more new businesses. It's a fabulous open space with lots to offer. Lots of friendly eateries. Clean bathrooms. Accessible spaces.
Always stop at Roast for awesome food!
Full of cool shops, a great spot to grab lunch but the choices might overwhelm you at first! Go often and try everything, it's all amazing.
I I haven't been to the Market in years. I went when it was still relatively new. Some of the shops r gone now but a lot of centre aisle tables set up. Some with flashy silver jewelry which had me hypnotized of course. A kitchen shop with all sorts of new tools. Not sure what to get the beloved but I'm sure there is something there he would like to have. Small cafes of yummy foods including butter chook. And when you walk in you can start with a cup of tea or coffee and maybe a dessert to munch along.
Decent food but it's all very expensive.
The market should get five stars because of the excellent food and products on offer from a nice variety of vendors. My quibble is with its too-dark, cave-like atmosphere. Better lighting and some colour could make the cavernous space more inviting. More imagination please!
Lots of fun to go to and great options for food (for basically any diet!) I always love going
Perfect place if I'm not sure what to eat. Taco Stand, Shatterbox and Very Good Butchers are my favourites but everything is quite lovely there.
I really like the market for the fresh produce fresh off the farm. It's the same price or cheaper for fresh produce that is fresher than what you'd buy from the grocery store. And you can find more elusive vegetables Desh than you can find elsewhere. All in all, a great place to shop!
Great place to get food for people walking around down town. Not easy to park at by car though. Lots of fresh food like pie and noodles at small booths. Cheap prices and different stores on the weekends.
Very cute & clean marketplace, the perfect place to grab some coffee & food, & sit in the cafeteria. I always get the Very Good Butchers (vegan)!
It's great here. So many cool shops. Oh, and the Japanese place! It's my favourite!
Great place to wait for a friend. Good variety to keep me entertained.
The salad I had is good. I wish the place is bigger and no parking fee outside.
Great selection of food and wares at a surprisingly reasonable price. Make friends with pie, olive the senses and the butcher shop are all favorites. Try the pulled pork sandwiches.
Dull - don't waste your meter money - food offerings are pricey and not much variety. Could use an organizational overhaul. Perhaps the landlords could lower their rents so that the vendors can lower their prices ? Just sayin'
Work close by. Most of the places to eat are top notch. The kitchen store is my favourite place to shop for kitchen gadgets.
I live at the husdon, so its convenient and good food spots!
Great local Farmer's Market. Vendors offer organic, local items and food. Local live entertainment. The only negative is that it is only there on Thursday afternoons during the summer months.
Tons of different local restaurants and artisan shops.
Coffee and pie shops had excellent products.
A nice place to have lunch or snack. Many unique small restaurants inside, a worthwhile visit.
Lots of good little shops to eat at for lunch. Went to the bakery and was upset we found it on the last day in town. Cool little place to check out.
Artisan jewelry, chocolate, and all sorts of yummy foods to eat!!! Also a coffee shop
It was ok, but honestly was expecting a little more. Some stalls are fairly pricey for the product your getting, even by victoria standards. Not enough variety, but at least the owners are all nice and friendly
Was not at all what we were expecting. Not really a market, but rather a handful of food shops in a small arcade. We went for breakfast to discover this is a not really a breakfast location as everything on offer was more lunch/dinner orientated. Might be better later in the day when your after some lunch.
Good food choice. Neat craft items.
I guess it was ok for a food court, there were a bunch of different food vendors. You could get everything from vegan to roast beef and what looked like a great pasta bar. However I was expecting a market where there would be local artisans selling there goods. Definitely not the case. A little disappointing.
Good food but very limited number of vendors
Pretty cool, lots of choices for lunch.
Awesome fresh produce. Locally procured and pesticide free. Prices reflect effort and care of products
Nice little shops, grocer and food stalls.
Smaller than expected but loved it! Crafts and meat markets....
Nice selection of restaurants. Not mainstream eateries. Basically a small food court
Interesting shops, but venue is getting a bit 'shop-worn' ... needs updating.
A great place for Victoria Beer Week Liftoff party!
Interesting foods in there.
Really beautiful public market—maybe the best I’ve ever been to. All of the vendors are very friendly, which creates a great atmosphere. The shops and restaurants are very aesthetic and hip. It’s a lot of fun, even if you just look around and don’t buy anything.
Good, not great selection for lunch. No chain shops is nice. Daughter loves the non meat butcher. Live music at lunch is a plus.
Great place to drop in and eat lunch. Lots of choice!
It was absolutely fantastic I quite enjoyed everything I came across in there. Lots of Fresh Bakery items some really fun restaurants and some good coffee. I will definitely be going back I'll make it one of my go to places when I'm down there. I found a fantastic Artesian Bakery that's there Friday and Saturday with their products I will definitely make a point of going back to that one especially. If you have the time stop in and enjoy it. And if you're a foodie you'll have fun in there between the Asian food Italian food and all the other ones that were there great times.
Great food. Good value. Our group ordered from four different stalls.
Great place to meet up with someone, have lunch or people watch. There's a wide variety of restaurants, a coffee shop, tea shop, bakery, even a little grocery store. They also have live music certain afternoons. I recommend checking it out especially if it's grey out.
Just a bunch of food places, not quite what I expected walking in.
Really amazing food options.
the market is kind of empty with a few store closed.
Nice little market square. Parking is a bit tough. Great rustic french loaf at the bakery. Will have to be my go to with no Grand Central bakery como here in Victoria.
I had an ackward interaction with security staff stated "You need to leave right now because we are closed" in a rather inappropiate tone. The two large security personal hovered over me in an inappropiate manner for absolutely no reason. I was simply siting at a table drinking an orange juice from a nearby vendor. This sercurity person should be trained to in an appropiate mode of communication with the public, not as if he is on an Afghanstan mission. Otherwise, the vendors and products offered are of high quality and specialized.
We have been here a few times now and always stop by for a snack. Several great venders here.
Great cookie stand at this market
Comfortable space to visit in, though a little loud for the music. Neat shops.
Great local products, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A fun shopping experience.
Very good choices of eateries, my favourite is The Bikery and Roast.
Honestly I was looking for more variety. But a great little food court, really...could use more fresh produce vendors.
It’s pretty good for food but the market is never too top notch. Probably because there isn’t enough traffic for market vendors who are higher end to spend their time there
Good selection of various items. If like to see more little venders.
Good food, ambience was better before pandemic.
There’s one of the best restaurants that makes Korean-Chinese food inside!
Food kiosks make for great choices. Public washrooms not kept up.
Volunteered for Victoria beer week there, sort of lousy market with very few vendors a cheap rip off of Granville Island
Wasted parking money on this market. Theres only a few amount of stores which are similar in nature. I would of expected a larger variety and size of the place given the huge sign they have outside.
I loved this indoor market. Silk Road Tea is amazing. The staff are knowledgeable and it is very good quality tea.
A few great little restaurants for a bite, but quite small
Great place! It took a while to pick a place to eat. We really enjoyed our lunch!
Beautifully designed industrial asthetic with a great selection of food vendors to fit your every changing mood.
The Roast restaurant has a very good & tasty grilled chicken. The best I ever ate!!!!
The public market has that awesome local feel but is also a cool tourist destination. Lots of cool eclectic food spots and some cute shops. We've been to several events here - liquor tastings and movie nights which we've always enjoyed. Really looking forward to trying the vegan butcher shop that just opened up. Always busy, lively and crowded, the public market has some of the Granville island feel. I'm looking forward to seeing this place grow over time. ????
The victoria pie place has delicious food.
Fewer vendors than expected. Pricey.
The market was nearly empty when we came there. Not much to see.
Wonderful atmosphere with a nice selection of artisan specialty items.
A very nice and very good selection of food .
Great place to get real good eats!
Love the Victoria Public Market as a lunch place, lots of options and generally good food.
Amazing for what is an underground food court. Fresh pastas. Vegan faux butchers. Exquisite chocolate bar center. Well worth a look, plus free parking!
2pm on Sunday all stores closed waste of of walk
Best chicken sandwich ever sauce makes it worth the walk just up from chinatown
Had a chocolate peanut butter cream pie from Pie Co. Fantastic!
Quiet food court with some small shops. Great to see what's new once in a while.
Stopped in on Saturdays for lunches and not disappointed! Few places shut down still but the ones that are open are awesome!
A good place to grab a tasty lunch.
