Wow! Small town customer service. So human and normal and nice in a Mom and Pop way it was almost a shock to me, compared to the impersonal "take it or leave it - meh whatever" approach you get in the cities (normally shop in Calgary, and Home Depot/Lowes is 'useless' there.)
I was there thinking, "wait...the men working here (and the ladies!) actually give a sh*t and know what they are talking about!"
The place is certainly a bit of an 'Aladdin's Cave' what with everything crammed in there but the old fellas will certainly go find it and dang it, they probably know where every last screwdriver and chisel is.
You get a feeling that everyone knows everyone, no wonder the place was nuts when I went in, even during WuFlu tailing off July 2020. The helpful men fetched everything I needed, almost felt guilty as at the end ready to pay they don't take American Express...felt kinda bad wasting the mans time but he was good humoured about it.
This store reminds me of the shop in 'The Two Ronnies' hardware store sketch '4 Candles' (look it up on youtube - very funny).
Pros: Has probably everything you could reasonably want tool and hardware wise.
Amusing signs, weird things on the walls, certainly a character store.
The older gents working in this store probably know a good deal about every last tool or thing in here, and probably have been working here forever.
Price points are about the same as THD/Lowes/Rona
Cons: Its popularity means It can feel a bit tight inside, car park is a little smaller but i suppose just park a bit further away or maybe time a visit.
It's Aladdin Cave packed layout makes it feel a little chaotic inside but if you are lost and have no clue what that thingymubob is called show the gents a pic and theres a good chance they will know what you want.
The don't take Amex, only visa, mastercard, cash, debit. More of an "FYI" than a huge deal so you don't waste a trip.
