Wish I could rate the vernon and Armstrong store separate. Vernon would be 1 star, things were overpriced compared to the armstrong store, knowledge was lacking and customer service was below standard. Experienced some very rude girls and a guy who knew nothing on what he was trying to sell.... Went to Armstrong and i would give them 5 stars. She was extremely helpful , got us products we didnt even think about and saved us a trip back. She knew her stuff and was extremely friendly with everyone. She was working alone yet managed to give great service to everyone who came in while we were there. We will return to the Armstrong location.

Awesome store and staff! I searched all around Kamloops and Salmon Arm for a proper screened chameleon terrarium but nobody stocked one except for AJ's. I called the store and they had a few to choose from and when I arrived to pick up a cage the lovely lady at the front helped me decide on the larger cage that my chameleon will grow into in no time. She was so very helpful and was able to cut me a huge deal on the new terrarium as well as they had a slightly damaged automatic mister system for super cheap. Got everything I was searching for plus more at unreal prices. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I wish I was closer to AJ's, I would shop there all the time from now on but I'm 2hrs away. Highly recommend anyone to stop by and check out the store and shop at AJ's.

One of the most reliable pet shops I've been to. And one of the rare few that carries supplies for birds above the size of a canary. Not only that, but they generally have the answers or at least suggestions to all your pet problems.

The ONLY place to go for aquarium fish in the area! My bf and I were VERY indecisive customers on our last visit (and had two rambunctious little kids with us) but the staff was still as amazing and accommodating as ever. 16 fish in 8 bags later... And the kids didn't even break or destroy anything!! Very patient and friendly staff, and prices are super reasonable too, with many fish on 2 for 1 sales! ????????

If you like fish keeping this is a Must go in the okanagan. The staff are passionate and very friendly. They put up with my questions and made it easy to ask to know when certain fish arrive. they stock a variety of plants, substrate, and hardscape for planted aquariums and lots of tanks of all price points to choose from. basically this place has it all thanks AJs for keeping the hobby going

I’m happy to see women being in charge for once in a place like this, I haven’t had good luck at the local chains, they never seem to know what they are talking about. has bad employee's that seem to not like their job and are snobish, and will try anything to get out of the warranty they give making their warranty pointless, and they try to sell you half dead fish and try to tell you its a issue with the water, even if you have a professional water test kit.

Half of the crickets and super worms in your containers are typically dead, always a hassle to convince staff to refund or rectify the situation. You are also selling half dead fish and then weasel out of your warranty saying it's the customer's tank, setup, or water. Lots of bad advice from staff too. Definitely our fault for doing business with a local small business that no longer puts their customers first. We never have these issues with the local franchise pet stores.
