Beautiful atmosphere, stunning views of the big fiddle and the Port of Sydney, amazing food. Located on the Sydney waterfront on the second level of the cruise pavilion. Parking can be tricky if there's an event or cruise ship. Highly recommended.

Incredible food!!! We got the lobster sandwich which was delicious and fresh. Also tried the fish and chips which was great! Right beside the fiddle and in a small shop space. Very cool lighthouse in the middle of the restaurant and tables are all along the window that has a view of the fiddle and the water. Amazing staff! They also host events in the back space.

It's in the shadow of a cruise ship some of the time but it was really good. The burger and sweet potato fries were great. The staff was very friendly. Nice view including the giant fiddle outside. Outside tables in the warmer weather is the way to go.

I have no idea what her name was but W.O.W. I work in the Restaurant business and was looking forward to a nice meal but cannot say we will ever return to Flavor on the Water. Will be spending some time in Sydney at the end of July.

It has been over a year since we ate here. I can honestly say it was the best meal we had in Sydney ever. We began with mussels and the mussel cream sauce was fantastic. When we arrived they mentioned they were out of lobster but by the time we ordered our mains the waitress came with good news that lobster had just arrived so I ordered the lobster club. Before that I started with the incredible seafood chowder. I often order this as a starter and it was absolutely the best I ever tasted. Next the lobster club arrived which was 4” thick packed lobster and off the charts delicious. I shared with my wife who ordered the pan seared haddock. I tried hers and omg the lemon caper sauce was like nothing I ever tasted, incredible. Our friends had vegan tacos which they raved about and had to take some home. Btw, other appetizers on the table were the beer cheese dip pita and nachos, again delicious. Yeah we ordered enough for 10 but as stuffed as we were we cannot wait to return. We tried the patio restaurant up the street last week and although nice pub atmosphere was no comparison in food. Alexa was our server and although the restaurant was busy she gave us incredible service with no delay. We will definitely be returning!

Ok. Sorry viewers. Back here today, Dec. 05/21. Not good. Ordered Seafood Trio again. Shrimp very good, Bacon Wrapped scallops very good although there was one less bacon wrapped scallop and one less shrimp than the other 3 times I have had this dish. Mussels not so good. First 2, ok. Next 4 were not good. Tasted not fresh, fishy & strong. Couldn't finish them. Told server to take the rest away. She told me they were fresh & had come in the day before. Doubt that. She came back & said they would take 10% off my bill. Told her that was not acceptable. She later came back with 25% off. Accepted that, but as a manager who has been in the hospitality industry, I would have comped the meal. I am a seafood junky and know good seafood from bad. This was was bad!! SO here is the score on the Seafood Trio. Had it 4 times. Two times good, two times not good. So consistency is lacking bigtime. Be ware. Was going to order 2 Flavor Carnivore Chili for take out for lunch on Monday, but decided to pass! ---- Anything you ready past this was from before. FYI. ----- Ok. Back here a weeks ago. Back to 5 star. Ordered the Seafood Trio. A very big favorite on the menu. Spot on, perfect. Had the "Flavor's Carnivore Chili". Wow! Perfect seasoning and flavor. My wife had the Beet & Goat Cheese salad. Beautiful piece of art work and flavor. Kudos to the owner, kitchen staff, and servers. I thought I first reviewed this place about a week ago and gave it a 5. I don't see my review so maybe I posted it on another site. But now this places gets a 3 out of 5. The dish that I had raved about with the 5 rating fell way short the second time. I had the Seafood Trio which knocked me over the first time. The second time, within days of the first time because it was so good, fell far short of the mark. The white wine cream sauce was almost no where to be found the second time. I expressed my concern to our server, and she promptly brought more sauce. The thing is the sauce she brought was in a very heated bowl, but the sauce was stone cold. Not good! Especially not good when the first time was amazing and I thought I found a new fav place to eat. No so. Will not go back. Between food and wine, when I spend 100 bucks, I expect better and deserve better.

Husband and I were in Sydney and happened upon Flavor on the Water while walking the boardwalk. He ordered the Lobster Club, I ordered the Chicken and Ribs. Both meals were FANTASTIC. View is beautiful, atmosphere is warm and wonderful and the service was amazing (i appologize to our server, your name has slipped my mind). This was seriously the best restaurant meal i have had in a VERY long time. Serving sizes were perfect. We left satisfied, but not uncomfortably full! Highly highly recommend!!!

I've eaten here at least once a year since they've opened. Whenever I visit home, we head here. Prices are a bit on the higher end, but the food is unique and quite tasty. My wife always finds something delicious with her gluten allergy, they cater to celiac's. Shirley Temple and nuggets for my daughter. This visit I ate the lobster sandwich and the lobster cake appetizers. My sister is vegan, she got some great vegan tacos! Great views up here as well, sweeping glass views of Sydney Harbour and the boardwalk. Tons of seating and friendly staff.

The OWNER of restaurant has to be the most disrespectful and ignorant person around. He does not care about his customers what so ever. He made it very clear that he does not need our service after a simple request of having the LIGHTS on in the back room as we could not even see the writing in the menu. If you want to have sub par food and support a person who does not uphold the friendliness of Cape Breton this is the place for you. If you want to be treated with respect I would avoid.

Great place for a quality meal. I had the lobster BLT with a salad. It was fantastic and the sandwich was stuffed with large pieces of market fresh lobster. Would recommend this for small groups or casual get togethers. Staff did a wonderful job attending to our table, which included our 3 smaller children. Wonderful views of the water when cruise ships are not docked. I'll be sure to drop by again the next time I am in Sydney.

Being from cape Breton and the love I have for seafood go hand and hand , I ordered the crab ???? cakes which where just prefrozzen trash I could of picked up at the grocery store , the mussels were tasteless and more then half of them where old and white only a handful were orange , very sad this is the Standard most outsiders are experiencing , other then the food the place is very plan but the view and outstanding , the staff is very friendly and on key .

Only give it a one star because no stars are not available. I was visiting Cape Breton from Ontario. Last Wednesday a Friend and Co Worker from Ontario happened to be Sydney at the same time. We both travel to the east coast every year but usually not at the same time. We decided to go for a beer and check out the view. We stated that we only wanted a beer; we have already have eaten and that was no problem with the hostess. We were brought to a table on the deck and given a drink menu then the manager came over with another menu, we informed him that we had both eaten so we just wanted to have a beer. We were told we had to order something or we would have to leave without having a drink. The restaurant was not full and there were plenty of tables open. We were told to leave! In my opinion this decision by the manager will cost the restaurant because I will not go there nor will my friend and will spread my experience with all my family and friends. I have never been to a place that would turn us away. Very disappointed! However, we did get our beer and sat down out on the patio deck at the Governor's located near by.

The ambience was great at the restaurant. The staff were great and helpful and it was all fine, but what about the food you ask? With respect to the food, I ordered the blackened fish tacos. What arrived was not exactly the Cajun style I was expecting, the flavours could have been stronger, I felt the mango salsa took over the salmon flavour. The food also took a long time to come to the table, probably because we were a larger group. Would I go back there? Yes, maybe I would try something else on the menu.

A wonderful dinner here with a couple of friends. We were seated quickly and our server was prompt and courteous. Two of us had the ribs in root beer sauce with fresh cut french fries.... excellent meal... highly recommend. One of us had a lobster dish for her entre. This is a fantastic restaurant. I always dine here when I'm in town. My order is pretty typical. I get lobster, fish, mussels, etc. It's so amazingly delicious and very reasonably priced. On my last visit, I was in earlier in the day. Some supper items we not yet being served. The staff made an exception and prepared the dish that I was requesting. Always a great experience.

I would give it a 0 but that's not an option. The food took over two hours to receive, which could have been made up for if the food had been good and/or reasonably priced, but neither were the case. For a lot of time and money, we received watery eggs Benedict with no flavour whatsoever on a rock hard english muffin, with a gross salad, and mediocre potatoes. My sister also got eggs Benedict, same condition as mine (except they had added the tomatoes that she had requested to NOT have) AND they forgot her potatoes and took a half hour after serving to retrieve them. As for my other friends, they got sandwiches so hard that it might have been easier to eat a rock. I am not one to write reviews, but I figured I'd save someone their time and money in saying DO NOT GO HERE!

A great addition to the Joan Harriss Cruise pavilion. They have some of the best views of the Sydney harbour of any place on the waterfront. Easily accessed by car or by foot on the boardwalk, they also have an elevator for easy and accessible access. The chowder is some of the best I have had locally and I am addicted to their fresh cut fries. Make sure to come in the warmer months to enjoy sitting on the outdoor patio (but the views in the winter months are pretty spectacular as well). I can't comment on the desserts as I am always to full from my meal to enjoy one, but I am sure they are delicious as well. Attentive table service makes for a delightful meal, a wonderful time all around.

Took 50 minutes for food to come. Asked for halibut to be cooked medium-rare and it came well done. Added scallops to linguine for $5.00. Asked how many scallops I'd get and was told 3 ,but when the dish came got only 2. When I complained to the waitress, she said that the scallops we're big. Asked by the waitress if everything was okay and we verbalized all our disatisfactions; she did nothing but said sorry. Normally, reputable restaurants would remedy the situation....especially when dinner cost $30/person. Very unhappy

Hugely disappointing. Server was running behind and took forever to get our drink orders, forgot to check on a special item when asked, and took our food orders nearly 30 min after we sat down. Halibut was badly overcooked and so dry it was nearly bricklike. The only reason I ate it was because it took so long to come I would have gladly eaten an actual brick. Another person at my table ordered curry and said the rice was half crunchy and half mush. I'm giving two stars instead of the one it deserves because the server deducted 25% from the cost of my meal.

This is such a wonderful place. All the food I ate at the restaurant was delicious and the staff was very kind. We couldn't order the whole lobster when we visited. But the lobster dishes we ordered satisfied us enough.

We stopped in here for lunch because we were hungry. My wife had a lobster chowder and I had the fish and chips. Obviously being at the port makes it a bit touristy but it’s actually decent food. If the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the second floor patio. There you can see a view of the harbor and cruise ship. They also have another location in town. They have just a few beers on tap.

The service and food were good. The view was good....but it felt like a food court. It didn't feel like a higher end restaurant. My wife had the lobster which was nice. I had a burger which was pretty good. Go for the food and view..not the cozy atmosphere.

Stopped by for a quick bite, at least 15 empty seats in the restaurant, was told they are all reserved. Waited around for a few minutes, others were turned away as well. Was looking forward to a meal here, was disappointed with not being able to eat even though there were so many empty seats.

This is an absolutely beautiful place to have dinner. My daughter is vegan and she had the sweet potato tacos. The plating was beautiful and it was a very full plate. The cocktails are also a great price and very tasty. I totally recommend this place!
